This is a long-overdue review, and even months later, we are still thinking about the amazing wedding cake and desserts that D Baker's Lab created for our DTLA wedding. Our guests continue to rave about them to this day! When searching for desserts for our wedding, we knew we wanted something unique, flavorful, and memorable--and we couldn't have made a better choice than D Baker's Lab. Being part Filipino, it was important to me to share a piece of my culture with our loved ones. Filipino dessert vendors are hard to come by, so finding D Baker's Lab felt incredibly special. I worked closely with Angela, who was always responsive, accommodating, and an absolute pleasure to work with. From the moment we met her at our dessert tasting, she made us feel so welcome. Her warm, friendly, and personable nature made choosing D Baker's Lab an easy decision. We decided on a dessert station filled with a variety of treats--ube milk cheese rolls, buko pandan jelly, strawberry cheesecake parfaits, cassava cups, fruit cups, and mini floating islands--along with our ube banana wedding cake and a halo-halo station featuring supreme, mango crumble, and buko pandan flavors. And OMG--it was an absolute HIT at our wedding! Our guests loved everything and were even asking for their business cards. We honestly wish we had ordered more because everything was gone so fast! We are beyond grateful to Angela and the entire D Baker's Lab team for making our wedding day even more memorable. We would absolutely recommend them to all of our friends and family and anyone looking for incredible desserts with heart and culture behind them.

Halo-Halo Supreme

There was an UBE festival at the Don Knabe park over the weekend so we decided to check it out. I was craving some Halo Halo, and we stumbled upon this D Baker's Lab stand at the festival. There was a long wait to order it. I went with the Halo Supreme. I guess it was the works, it was good but not like the Halo Halo I was expecting. I didn't like whatever they put at the bottom, tasted sweet but had a weird sour after taste. I got the large for $14 but probably the small for $12 would've suffice. Since this was a festival they operated out of a tent stand. So you order, pay, and wait to pick up your order in the pickup window. Ambiance was nice since it was at the park. So we got to walk around to see other vendors while we ate our halo halo.

Got the Halo-Halo Supreme

Definitely not worth it. Its overpriced $15 for something that's supposed to be supreme but was only simple halo halo. They claim smooth creamy halo halo i had chunks of ice. Service was quick. We were at the ubae festival and the line was long thinking it's worth it the wait. But it wasn't worth it the $15

Halo halo supreme

Ordered their halo halo supreme and it's was amazing! Definitely going back to try the other ones they have.

Various food places here.

D Baker's lab by AnJ is located at the corner of Titus and Van Nuys Blvd in Pacoima, inside the LA Chef's Kitchens. This is a collection of various food spots, try them all. Came here is get some desert, wanted to try the Filipino Halo-Halo. The girl behind the counter was nice, took our order and got working on them, service was very fast and we got five Halo-Halo's. Got the Halo-Halo Supreme, first time trying it and now I'm a fan. Halo-Halo's are made to mix and come with so many flavors and textures, it is a really unique desert and sooo tasty. Their description of the desert is: It is a delightful fusion of sweetened bananas, rainbow jelly, coconut jelly, pandan jelly, macapuno strings, sweetened chickpea, Ube halaya, all crowned with their signature milk shaved ice, ube milk base and Lucious leche flan. That is a mouthful and one you have to experience. We got a small and shared it, which I think is plenty, I think getting one alone would be just too much, but to each their own. The idea behind Halo-Halo is once you have it, you begin mixing all together to enjoy the various flavors and textures and how they all work together. Yum! Better when mixed rather than eating each section alone. The concept here is ghost kitchen, a collection of kitchens all under one roof, various tables to sit at inside and outside once you decide what you want to eat, very cool concept. Parking is street parking only I believe, but we found a couple spots right outside the building, so it is pretty easy to get in and out. Enjoy!

We ordered couple of desserts. Our favorite is Ube, it was very rich, right amount of sweetness and heavily loaded with marshmallows and chunks of chocolate bits. We ordered large and definitely shareable. We didn't finish the whole thing because after awhile, it was overwhelming. Mango was also delicious, not too sweet. We got the Spanish breads with jam in it, they weren't tasty at all. I loved the Ube cream square dessert, it was very smooth and tasty. It was $14 for Large, pricier than usual.

Banana con Yema

I always make sure to order from this store for special occasions!! I highly recommend their buko pandan cups, ube cheesecake bars, yema brazo cups, and strawberry parfait cups! And when you're feeling hot from the weather, nothings beats their halo halo!! You can't go wrong with either avocado dream, iskrambol, banana con yema or their supreme! Their quality and presentation stay consistent!! Order from them, and you won't regret it!!

Been wanting to try this place since we always go to Elno next door to get coffee/boba but this vendor opens a little later than our usual time frame of being there. We finally made a later trip to try it for lunch today! This is located inside the food haul and they have street parking along Titus street. We've been eyeing their Sisig Dumplings and Sisig Bowl forever!! Ordered our food which came out shortly after and took it home to enjoy. We don't typically dine in but they have some bar stools across by the window in case you want to eat there. These vendors are quick which is great! You can basically order from multiple and they'll all be ready in minutes. Incredible. By far one of the best sisig I've ever had! The sisig dumplings are next level and perfectly fried. The dumplings and rice bowl both come with some sort of citrus sauce which pairs PERFECTLY with everything! It's almost like an adobo flavored sauce but can't quite put my finger on it. Hands down delicious and definitely makes us want to come back!

Must cover fishballs entirely in sauce

Came back 3rd time with cousins to try more. Also got the DBL halo halo delight, they didnt have the coffee one. Tried cheese bread, pandan cup and the cute cupcake looking things in the case. Also the usual pandan, ube macapuno and attack B with sago. The tiny cupcakes are ube, lech flan and a mereign on top. Perfect bite! Can't wait to try other drinks and the attack A!

They had a stand at the lunar festival in Rancho Cucamonga this last weekend. The line wasn't too long and the lady who helped us, was friendly. We got some of their Ube milky cheese rolls and they were very good. Would definitely try some of their other items, if we see them at another event. If you enjoy Filipino food, go check them out.

taho

Been here once, desserts are good, i kinda liked it, they're unique especially the ice cream. The taho wasn't as good, not as silky smooth as the others. The meriendas like lumpia are ok. Though good and unique their creations are, they're also kinda expensive which throws me off. Owner and staff are friendly though.

When I was planning our baby shower, the first thing that came in my mind for the dessert menu was the "D Baker's Lab by Anj" and I was right. The desserts were meticulously prepared and curated. The service was great. We did not expect that it was well personalized for our event. Our guests loved everything. Ms. Anj is very approachable. Hands down to them .We will definitely get them again for our future event.

Portion size was smaller than I expected & the food was slightly over seasoned but still nice flavor. The service was good tho. Would go back to try a different plate.

I see Churros.. and I buy one or a few! I'm usually getting Churros from a stand at a festival.. but when I saw the store, I had to go inside : ) Service was a little slow, not many people were waiting. Maybe they make items to order. My items were hot. Location is at a strip mall, lots of parking. I got the Cinnamon Sugar Churro with sauces to go. I would have wanted to stay, have a coffee and play a game or two, but I had to get home so I placed my order to go. The place looked so fun, a place to hang out for all different ages. I saw vintage toys and items for sale; the place looked like a wonderful place for a collector to have a great time adding to his or her collection. The place has cool vibes. Next time I'm in town, I plane to enjoy my Churros inside. Cheers!~

The prices are not commensurate to the type of strip mall and overall valley location that the spot is in. Also, the churros took 10 minutes yet somehow tasted stale and lacking cinnamon. This place might be for those that like to make their life hard...those that expect a treat to have drawbacks...those who enjoy paying more for less. Admittedly, good churros in the valley are hard to come by. Churro Man sucks, and Junior's Churros switched over to catering because they were the best on the streets. Come here if you don't believe me, but I promise you won't be back.

I stopped by Sunday around 1 to pick up some pastries on my way to a friend's house. It's located in a plaza with a small parking lot. Both times I came, someone was picking up a cake ahead of me, so that's definitely what to get here. I asked the cashier, and she said that you can either call or came in person to place a cake order. You can also come by and pick up one of their ready made cakes. Will keep this place in mind for the future. I picked up a number of pastries and tried some of them at my friend's place. Here's what I tried: Slice of vanilla roll cake ($2) - very moist but not much cream Almond croissant ($3.50) - loved the almond filling Sponge cake ($2.75) - delicious! Almond cookie ($0.35 each) - tastes exactly like the almond cookies I ate growing up Cream puff ($2) - this was the only thing I didn't like. Don't expect the warm, smiley Filipino hospitality right away--just head straight to the counter and place your order on the iPad. As for the halo-halo, it's definitely not your traditional version. It wasn't bad by any means, but it's quite different from the halo-halo I grew up with and the ones I enjoy whenever I visit Manila.
