We come back to NY every couple of years to visit family over the holiday. The pizza is the best around since I lived here in 1989, the best in the area and it has not changed. (and reasonably priced) I recently tried their Chicken Riggies and ordered a "whole order"...first off they are way better than Babes (which are one of the top in the area) and the whole order would literally feed 3-4 adults. I had it for dinner, lunch the next day and there is still about half of the meal left. The medium spice had a perfect amount of spice and super flavorful with the cherry peppers. Very thick sauce and lots of chicken and veggies. My son had the pizza- one bite excellent score of 8.4 and daughter had the pepperoni roll, which was a bit smoky and very tasty. We went for lunch today and had no problem finding 2 seats at the bar. The place is clean and comfortable, with a small dining room, too. I ordered the half portion of chicken riggies, which are some of my favorite in the area. The serving size for even the half was big, and I had enough leftovers for another meal. The garlic bread that comes with it is also excellent. My dining partner ordered some medium wings and reported they were also great; they came with a decent amount of sauce. I noticed a fried bologna on their menu, which I was tempted to try, but that'll just have to be for next time! read more

Good food, terrible service. They had a mishap from a printer, we waited about 25 minutes after part of the owe was brought out for a pie and garlic bread. We paid for all of it. When the girl that cashed us out finally brought us our bread and said "it's on the house" she also threw the baggy of celery and blue cheese across the table and said "here's the celery and blue cheese" If I didn't have small kids I would have asked for a refund and went somewhere else. read more

Second time in a row, Venice Pizza messed up my order. The frist time they messed up the order I called them and a young kid answered the phone and said there is nothing I can do. Everyone makes mistakes so we tried to give them another try tonight. Ordered from Grub Hub for delivery because we have two of little boys at home and picking up the order was not an option. Ordered pasta and chicken tenders for the boys. They never packed the chicken tenders. Since this was the second time in a row they messed up I called them and asked to speak to the manger. Explained the situation as the manger while the manger was trying to talk over me and raising his voice. The manger said to take it up with grub hub and to never call here again. Venice pizza has lost a customer that has been going there for over 25 years. read more

These are some of our favorite riggies around. We get the hot ones, but I think they are truly more like fairly mild to medium spiciness. The stuffed shells are really delicious, too--an order comes with 4, which is not a lot, but they're very good. Minus one star for the hugely disappointing garlic bread. In the future, I will not order that again--we got a nice, fresh loaf but it was completely dry inside (?!). Typically, within all the deep slices that are cut into a loaf of garlic bread, there's a whole bunch of melted butter and crushed garlic. Instead, all we got was a long loaf of basically warm, dry bread with a little bit of butter and maybe a couple shakes of garlic powder on top that weren't even flavorful. We don't like to waste food, but it didn't taste like anything and really sucked. Otherwise, this restaurant would be consistently 5-stars for us. read more

I will start this as I always do by saying that I don't give out five stars unless I am really blown away. This is the stop I make when ever I am in the mood for pizza while in the Utica area. They have a great crust good sauce and they always do a nice amount of toppings. Atmosphere is that of a nice pizza place. I have had a few salads from here as well and they are always good even if they are a little pricey they give you a good size portion. The only real knock I have is that wait times can be a little long but these days all restaurants seemed to be short staffed so it's just a slight knock nothing that should keep you from coming here for delicious pizza. The food at Venice pizza is great. Never had a bad pizza or sub. But the service is terrible. Not when you go to the restaurant but when everytime you call no one ever picks up. I've called three Wednesdays in a row at 9:45 and no one picks up. If you say well maybe they close at 10? Both google and Safari say they close at 11. This is the best pizza in our area. NYC style to die for. You can't go wrong with the subs either, but my go to is ordering a couple slices of Pepperoni, sitting in a front booth were the sun hits your face. Continuing my search for amazing lasagna... when I'm looking for crave worthy dishes I tend to gravitate towards older establishments or smaller "mom & pop" places. This place seems really cool like that! I called in my order to go. The staff taking my order was nice & friendly. I knew ordering lasagna usually takes a little longer than some orders but she made sure to not set me up for disappointment and politely told me that it would be about 25-30 minutes to be ready- no problem! It was ready and hot when i arrived. The portion was huge! It came with a small garlic bread that was just ok. It looked amazing and cheesy. The sauce was decent, but the meat had a funny flavor. I can't exactly explain, but I would not call it fresh or flavorful. Finally, The noodles completely overpowered the filling. How the mighty have fallen. Venice was the standard for which every local pizza shop aspired to be. Their food was quality and the service was amazing. I used to be a very frequent customer for nearly 30 years, now I only visit once a month if that. It seems ever since Covid, they cannot get good help. The people working the front counter only care about gossiping to the people next to them or the people making the food. They blatantly use their cellphones while waiting on customers and their choice of language while customers are in plain view is absurd. I know it's hard to get good help on 2023, but at some point you just have to keep hiring people until you get the right fit. The place has severely gone downhill since Mike S left as he was a staple on the day shift crew and kept the employees in check. It's more like the Wild West now with no basic fundamentals of service being followed. As far as the food goes, it's hit and miss, depends who is making pizza or who is making subs. I've gotten pizza under cooked and then I've gotten pizza that is a throwback to years ago in terms of quality and perfectly done. If anything, the biggest issue is consistency. It's not to say the place is a total abomination, it just needs a fine tuning and someone to really hold the front end staff accountable. For now I'll stick to my once a month visit and hopefully that visit is on a good day. read more

Excellent pizzeria! Loved it. Service was quick and friendly, the place was clean and the pizza was wonderful. My wife and I ordered a buffalo chicken slice each and were going to share a Sicilian slice but when our server brought it out, they had added another Sicilian slice so we wouldn't have to share! That never happens. Our lunch was just over $10 for 2 of us. A real bargain. The only minor thing I didn't care for is that when I ordered a fountain drink - the cups were really small. Having said that, it's free refills so it really didn't matter. If I iced closer - I'd eat here a couple days a week for lunch. read more

I'm a fan of this place. Went to Utica for work and this place was recommended by one of the bartenders at the local brewery. Pizza here is not bad but definitely not anything amazing. I think what their best menu item is, and it's no surprise, is their Utica greens. This was my first time having it, and though it is green in nature, it does not taste like vegetables at all. Ordered my large cheese pizza and it was one of the best ny style pizza around. Everything about it was perfect, enough sauce and cheese, not greasy and the most important to me, not soggy. I went to Venice 07/09/23 and I had a confusing/stressful time. Was very overpriced for their food quality. There was one specific young waitress that lied about not bringing our food to another table. We were told she was new so we assumed they didn't train her properly & just sent her on her way. Multiple people came in & out before we were able to get our food. There was another young waitress that was taking most of the orders & doing other things at the same time, she was very helpful and friendly. Besides that young lady that was very nice in the situation of confusion , I will never go back to the Yorkville Venice because of how it was today. read more
