Didn't care for the wine. Many of us just passed on our second-to-last and last samples. Had no provided listing/menu of the wines we were sampling. Had no choice as to what we were having as they mainly do drier varieties, but I wouldn't have remembered the name as the server just introduced it at the end of the bar and said the name once and filled our glasses. Came on a limo bus with friends for a pre-scheduled tour and got a small, separated tasting area that overlooked the parking lot... There was no view the other way because of the fog, but it was crowded and dark for us. No crackers or anything. Looks like an Olive Garden on the inside. Prices very high, but employees dressed in casual jeans and hoodies. After whatever samples we wanted, no one even bothered to look at bottles after the experience and the prices. We all walked in and out. We joked we wanted to take our glasses over to the fountain drink area where the cafe was and get some pop, or ask if we could trade our last samples we didn't want for a slice of birthday cake in the cafe case... read more

We went to Ventosa vineyards for my moms 60th birthday. We had a private group wine tasting and lunch for 8 people. From the moment we walked in we were treated like royalty. Every single staff member was excellent, the food was amazing, and accommodated for the birthday girls gluten free needs. I cannot say enough great things about our experience. They reserved us a table for 13 with about 10 minutes notice, made our food quickly and we were able to eat with their incredible view over the vineyard and into Seneca Lake. This is a beautiful vineyard with a view. The wine tasting was good and relaxed. We really enjoyed the white wines. We bought a glass of wine and some bottles after our tasting and ordered lunch at the cafe within the vineyard. We ate outside on the patio overlooking the vineyards and Seneca lake. We had the pleasure of visiting Ventosa Vineyards this past weekend. The tasting room, the landscaping and the entire place was beautiful. We decided to do a flight of various wines to see what we would like. Patti, the woman who poured our wine was amazing. She was informative, helpful, knowledgeable and extremely funny with a great personality. She educated us about the history of Ventosa Vineyards as well as the wine making process for each wine we sampled. My wife is not a big fan of Pinot Noir, but Patti explained to her why the Ventosa Pinot is different then most others and why she will like it. And she was right, my wife really enjoyed it and even bought a bottle to bring home. Patti also gave us spot on recommendations for other wineries, breweries and places to eat that would be along the way as we headed to our destination. We highly recommend Ventosa Vineyards and we LOVED Patti! read more

I planned a wine tour for a group of 13 people and Ventosa Vineyards was one of the places we stopped for a wine tasting and lunch. Overall, I did enjoy my time at Ventosa, wine tasting when we first arrived (with a complimentary wine glass), lunch on the balcony overlooking the grape vines and looking out to Seneca lake, as well as being able to walk along the vines. When we first arrived, we were sent to the wine tasting bar, which was strange because it was part of the cafe area. I was expecting the room to be parted in some way, but I guess it was designed to be an open space. I didn't mind it too much, but it seemed a loud in the room, which made hearing the girl who was pouring wine a little difficult. She was very informative, and even though I was not a big fan of the wine, she was very nice, helpful and entertaining. She knew a lot of information about the vineyard and wines with was very nice. The only part about the tasting I didn't like too much was that there was only one server for 13 people, which made moving from one wine to another really long, and she had to repeat a lot of things. Our group seemed like it was broken into two groups instead of tasting all together. The lunch was wonderful! The food was all ready and prepared after our tasting. We were seating outside on the balcony. The view was spectacular and the hostess was very nice. She asked us if we needed anything else, if our drinks were sufficient enough, and if the food was to our liking. We had the Vinifera Luncheon Buffet, which came with freshly tossed salad, Turkey Panini, the Ventosa Deluxe Panini, kettle chips, and Pizza Toscana. Both panini were well cooked and delicious. The salad was unexpectedly delicious. I definitely enjoyed the fresh salad and white balsamic vinaigrette. We also selected the beverage station, that gave more than enough drinks for the whole group. At first I was not sure if it was going to be enough food for everyone, but it was extremely filling and I was very happy with the choice of staying at Ventosa's for lunch. We were able to walk around the vines after lunch and overall we had a great time at Ventosas. I would definitely recommend this place for lunch and wine tasting if you like the classic drier red wines. read more

Came for wine tasting... didn't eat, didn't attend a wedding. Just sampled some vino. And... This place just didn't do it for me. We sampled ten wines (4 white, 6 red - all dry), and nothing really stood out. In fact, all the reds tasted somewhat identical (and were just a bit off-tasting to me). Everything was perfectly drinkable, but I definitely wasn't excited enough to take any home. Skip this place and pop into Billsboro just down the road (or go to their full tasting room on the other side of the lake if it's the off-season). Far superior wines for the same price (or less). read more

The wine here stunk and they don't give you any description or list, plus they rushed us through the sampling. Our group had lunch at this place and that was nothing to brag about either. The salad was just lettuce and the panini's were super hard and hurt my mouth. Best dry red wines I've found in the Finger Lakes. They are actually drinkable. Their building is impressive, and I really wanted to have the Pizza Rustica from their Cafe...but didn't. The wineista was friendly, knowledgeable and poured a decent amount of wine. I was told that their winemaker is a young woman, who I think has a great future in Finger Lakes wines. Good job Ventosa! I'll have to visit again and eat at the Cafe before I can give the 5th star. read more

When we walked in, we waited in line at the front register to see if that was the correct place to purchase tastings. There were 3 different tasting bars and no employees to direct you where to go. After waiting in line, the employee at the counter advised us that you purchase the tastings right at the bar. So we found an open spot at one of the tasting bars. After standing there for 5 minutes feeling invisible, someone mentioned that the two bars along the windows are for reservations only and we needed to go to the bar along the back. After waiting for a spot to open up, we were ignored again for another 5 minutes. There were 3 buses for people there that were just looking to purchase glasses of wine, not do tastings. There were 3 employees working behind the bar and the one that was on our end, was only serving those people that wanted to purchase glasses. Finally we purchased our tastings and instead of the employee describing the wine or even telling us what she was pouring, she just rushed through the entire tasting. I understand wineries get busy on weekends, but there should be separate places to purchase glasses of wine and do tastings and there should also be more direction from employees on where to go when customers walk in. Most wineries have a policy for buses of people where reservations are required, but this appeared to be a free-for-all. I have a few favorite wineries along Seneca Lake and decided to try one I've never been to, but I regretted my decision. Probably won't be going back. The wine was pretty good, but the customer service ruined the experience. read more

Terrible customer service. There was 7 of us who who were turned away upon arrival on 9/23 by an employee standing outside. We arrived there at 5:20, and the winery was open until 6. Have been here numerous times and never have experienced anything like this. There was only 2-3 people at the tasting bar. Was not even allowed in to purchase wine. Unbelievable. Wines were different - pretty good. The views are what brought me back to ventosa from last year (and the beautiful labels). This year, the labels aren't as pretty and for the second year in a row, the tasting staff was completely inattentive and lacked knowledge. They told us the name of the wine and then continued cleaning up (even though they didn't close for another hour). Not sure if I would visit again. This place is NOT accommodating with groups. They have rules in place that they even if you try to comply, they will find any reason to refuse the group. I have been meaning to write this review since I got married almost two years ago (May of 2014). You would think that I would have forgotten about it by now because... it's been almost two years but I felt like I OWED it to Ventosa Vineyards because they were that amazing to us. My wife went to school in the area and we liked the idea of getting married on a vineyard. When we visited Ventosa initially, we thought it was too nice to be in our price range. Once we sat down and estimated the costs of having our wedding at different venues, we were surprised to see that Ventosa was in fact within our budget! The view of the vines with the water and mountains as the backdrop was too good to pass up so we booked our wedding with them. The entire time before the wedding, we worked with RJ Passalacqua, the general manager. I liked his calm demeanor and he was on top of everything. Every time I had to communicate with him, he knew about every detail and didn't mix it up with some other wedding or had to recall anything. He just knew it. Everything was set up perfectly by the staff of Ventosa. The staff and wedding coordinator (which was included!) was on top of everything! They really allowed us to relax more because they made us feel like we didn't have to be in charge and that they knew the game plan. They dealt with the other vendors and made sure everyone was on the same page. For the reception, the food was delicious and the service was great. The next day, they had everything boxed up and ready for us to take with us. I honestly cannot recommend Ventosa more. The venue is beautiful and RJ and his staff really made the experience fantastic for us. I just feel guilty it took me this long to write a review. read more

I attended a wedding this past Saturday night. I'm from out of town and I was pleasantly surprised at how beautiful the views at Ventosa are. The wedding reception was beautiful, the vineyards spectacular! The highlight of the evening was the bartender, John. He was very busy but we never had to wait for a drink and when he had a moment, he humorously entertained us and gave us a really nice mini tutorial of Ventosa, the vineyards and the area. He really knew his stuff and you got the sense he really enjoyed working at such a beautiful place. He definitely added to an already wonderful night. If we are ever back that way, we will certainly take time to get a tour of the vineyards! read more

My 2nd winery experience and this was a very good one, my pourer was only on her 2nd day and she was great, very friendly and funny and made me feel at ease since I am not a super-experienced wine drinker or a connoisseur by any means. We did not go for a wine tasting, we opted to go on Wednesday evening for the happy hour from 5-6 and stayed until the band stopped playing at 9 PM. We took a $10 cab ride from Todd's Taxi from our hotel in Geneva. The happy hour is great! Glasses of wine were half price so you got two wines for $7. A great price. And they have a decent Sangiovese. However, once happy hour is over it is a much better deal to just buy a bottle of wine. The kitchen was open and we had some great Panini sandwiches and Pizzas. Although we did not have a reservation, we were seated outside on the terrace which presented a beautiful vista of Seneca lake. The problem was that it was very hot so we asked Michael, the host, if there was a table indoors, he checked and returned to tell us that he reserved us a table inside. Latter Michael provided us with some recommendations on some of the local restaurants and bars. He made a great experience even greater. read more
