With so many amazing wineries to choose from in the Finger Lakes, we are so glad we went to this one - especially for the low cost flights and delicious mediterranean cuisine. A lot of the times when you go wine tasting, there's only charcuterie options or just cheese, crackers, etc. We had built an appetite for a late lunch and after trying their semi dry riesling a few days before (courtesy of our airbnb host) we knew we had to come check it out. Located in the same street of where we were staying, it was such a find. Thank goodness for Phoenician Grill offering fan faves like a nice charcuterie board or pizza but also their mediterranean forward menu staples like falafel, grape leaves and their delicious spinach hand pies. We ended up ordering the mezze sampler (and did a few substitutions to make sure they fit our vegetarian needs) along with their perfectly crisp za'atar fries. On to the wine. Get this, you can order a 5 flavor wine flight for only $10! Now that's a steal. Of course, you can also order a bottle and share it or split one with a friend. If you're like me that wants to try different things, this is the way to go. All of the wines we tried were delicious, form their pinot to their rose. A crowd favorite was for sure their dry riesling which many of us took home for the road (not the actual road but home lol). Everyone here was so kind and accommodating for our group of 10. We had such an amazing Sunday warming up indoors from the cold. Came to Zugibe as part of a wine tour. Place is set a bit further from the lake than others, however there is still a good view. Place is like a huge barn with the tasting bar on the right, wines to buy on the left, and then a lot of open space for folks to chill (also more out back). Tasting was well done and the servers definitely care about their wine. I remember liking their pinot noir and lemberger, even though the latter was sweeter; kind of weird I liked the reds over the whites. This was not my favorite of the wineries I visited nearby, however the enthusiam of the servers made it more enjoyable. Pours were on the heavy side too which was nice. Their cafe only offers Greek food which is a good change of pace, even though it's kind of unexplained why. Got the cheeseburger, which came chopped cheese style in a pita bread. Kind of weird but it tasted good and I pounded it. Z fries were a bit heavy on the toppings (za'atar, garlic, parm), yet similarly I devoured this. Might have been the wine. Everyone else enjoyed their food too. Something just didn't mesh for me here, however I did have a good time overall. Would probably check out one of the other 1000 wineries nearby before returning although you can definitely do MUCH worse than this. read more

We just bought glasses of wine and sat at a table. We had 2 Pitzas and the buffalo chicken eggrolls. The eggrolls were amazing. The wine wasn't bad either. My husband and I came for a date night a few evenings ago on live music Thursday. The ambiance is beautiful and more unassuming than expected which was refreshing. Music was great and ambiance was family friendly but still romantic as there's plenty of room for everyone to spread out. We attended a wine event back in September and the owners invited us to go visit their beautiful winery in the Summer. Fast forward 9 months, we made it up to the Finger Lakes. Zugibe Vineyards has a backyard deck with an amazing lake view. They also serve Mediterranean style foods. The Z fries were delicious. Check out their hours and be sure to go when they are open. This review is for Zugfest 2021, the music festival at the vineyard. I liked that we were able to park fairly close to the building, since we carried chairs with us. I appreciated that there was staff in the parking lot guiding us where to park. My husband and I both enjoyed a glass of Late Harvest Riesling, a sweet wine that seems to be their most expensive wine. Very delicious. The bands performed under a beautiful covered stage. Some guests brought their own chairs; there were many wood chairs supplied by the vineyard. Half the people sat in shade, either on their covered porch or under tents (not sure whose tents, the vineyard or the visitors). We felt lucky to find a small tree to sit under. We heard two different bands that played very different genres, but both bands were large (6-7 musicians and vocalists) and excellent. The $15 per person cover charge seemed fair. There were several different vendors selling food and Zugibe offered its own kitchen menu, but we were there between lunch and dinner and did not eat there. Zugibe's menu includes several vegetarian options. I would definitely return next year to Zugfest. read more

Came here for food after a wine trail event because they were open half hour later than the others. We ordered falafel, white pizza and mushroom pies. The falafel had a very tangy flavor to it but was still good. Pizza and mushroom pies were also good. The wine was decent but we didn't like enough to buy a whole bottle. We visited here to end our Thursday evening wine tour. They were open until sunset and had a an acoustic singer. Seating outdoors was first come first serve and we were lucky to find one open table on their deck so we grabbed a cold bottle of their sweet Riesling and sat down. The views of the lake are beautiful from this location. The Mediterranean food smelled amazing, but we weren't super hungry, so maybe next time!! As we were sitting at our table, listening to Jon, the talented singer and watching the sunset, my boyfriend got down on one knee and proposed!!!! It was super romantic! We happened to stop here by chance after visiting three brothers winery and it turned out to be the best decision. We started with a flight of the sweet wines and really liked the red blush and it was a bang for the buck too. The back portion of the tasting room opened up to a nice green lawn with views of the lake too. We ended up getting a bottle of the blush, ordered a white pizza and spent a good amount of time enjoying each sip. The outdoor was fun and kept the little one occupied too. We enjoyed the whole experience so much that we ended up purchasing a second bottle on our way out. read more

I reviewed this place two years ago when we had visited the winery. This is our second time here. I felt that an updated review was needed since we are in a pandemic. When we arrived, we were told to wait in line for our turn. We then provided our credit card for payment, selected what wine flights that we wanted to sample and our food of choice. Went over to the area to wait for our food and wine to be prepared for us. We then to our wine and food to a table outside. We were all social distanced from others and able to remove our masks at the time. After we were completed, selected the bottles that we wanted to go and told them who we were and paid for our items. It was straight forward. The wine was as good as I remembered it. The red wine here is good as always. One of the few places in the area that has good red wine. read more

I am leaving three stars because the food was ON POINT! Chefs kiss for the food, however the overall vibe is unwelcoming, my hubby and I walked in and were not greeted, we sat at a table and went to the bar to order...once we placed our food and wine order not once did anyone check on us, we had to ask for a glass of water, we were the only people there, and yet the staff seemed very indifferent. We've been to many wineries and customer service is def a big part of how one rates an experience. Visited Zugibe Vineyards on Friday afternoon. Our visit came at a busy time and the winery was not prepared for a crowd. This led to a rushed and disorderly tasting, which prevented a full appreciation of their wines. Quality: Zugibe Vineyards was one of the stranger experiences during our recent trip. It felt the most normal after a year and a half of COVID adjustments, but the tasting was chaos. We ordered two Standard Tastings, and since they were running low on slips, we filled both out on one. This adjustment proved a major issue causing a lot of confusion and skipped pours. However, the bigger problem was they were trying to clear out the crowd that formed so they were rushing through the tastings. Multiple times I saw samples poured in still partially filled glasses. This rush impacted my impression of the wines, which seemed to disappoint compared to other wineries we visited. Hungry and eager to move outside we ordered some food to snack on from their Mediterranean counter. The Shawarma Fries were good, though a little over-seasoned. Quantity: No issue with the pours in the Standard Tasting. The Shawarma Fries we ordered were massive and the other food items can provide for a full meal. Value: $10 for a Standard Tasting. $10 for the Shawarma Fries. Ambiance: Zugibe Vineyards is a winery located on the east side of Seneca Lake in the Finger Lakes. The winery has the feel of a place that would do well with a small number of people, which unfortunately was not the situation we walked into. Inside they have a large room was massive ceilings. The highlight of their decor is a big stained glass window with their logo. They have window doors out to their porch, and a very nice outdoor seating area. Plenty of tables and chairs for guests to relax with their wine and food. Crowd: The winery was pretty crowded on Friday afternoon. It appeared most people were just there for tastings, as the inside area was much busier than the outside. Service: The only winery we visited that had completely returned to pre-COVID tastings, with folks squished in around the bar. The problem was they did not have the staff ready for the number of guests, leading to wrong pours, filling glasses with wine still in them, and large gaps in samples. Zugibe Vineyards is still similar to our initial visit last year, however they can use some major improvement on customer service and making guests feel comfortable while visiting. On our most recent visit to Zugibe Vineyards, some of our group experienced a bit of a miscommunication which lead to a poor customer service experience. Unlike vineyards such as Magnus, that offer cheese with the tasting, Zugibe does not. However one member of our party saw a sign that they thought included a tasting with cheese for $7. Unfortunately, when they all went to the register to pay for their tasting they were informed that the cheese was $7 and the tasting was an additional $5. Beware of this and read the fine print. I didn't really think this was a big deal because misunderstandings happen. However, I was informed by my neice that the young lady at the register displayed major attitude when they discussed this concern. I later witnessed this as she came out to the patio and quickly grabbed everyone's flights because "they needed the glasses back." This particular young lady didn't address me, but I did witness her display of unprofessionalism toward the younger members of our group. The other two servers were both really nice and I appreciated their attentiveness and kindness. I was really on the fence about revisiting Zugibe Vineyards with our group this time around. I should have gone with my gut when I contemplated revisiting. I will likely bypass this one in the future. read more

This was my last stop on the Lake Seneca wine trail after the first day. Even though you cannot see the lake from the back patio, the view is spectacular. While you sit on the back patio (on very comfortable chairs I might add) you look out onto fields of vines. This is a very popular wedding site and I can understand why. Rows of magnificent grapes line the property as you turn onto the driveway headed towards the absolutely stunning and elegant yet very "Finger Lakes rustic" A-Frame style main building. Parking just to the left of the entrance allows you to take in the expansive view of the property and the north - east end of Seneca Lake. As you enter the winery, the majestic double doors welcome you into an era and an experience you don't find in other FLX wineries. Directly to the north west is an ample firepit that is utilized on appropriate occasions as well as the pavilion which houses live music as scheduled throughout the summer season. To the south east, you will often find wedding and event venue space occupied by a simple yet elegant event tent. Ample outdoor seating for both relaxing with a glass of the most perfect Pinot Gris found in all of the FLX (or in this reviewers opinion the US), or take up a table to enjoy some of the most mouthwatering authentic Lebanese cuisine north of New York City. Sit and enjoy the crooning of singers and musicians as the sun sets with perfect timing over hillsides enveloping the most mysterious and alluring of the famous Finger Lakes. With a very impressive and variety rich selection of wines, including hard-to-find-in-the-FLX, DRY wines there is something for every palate and every level of wine connoisseur as well as select offerings of local breweries. If wine's not your thing, but a juicy hazy IPA is more your style, grab a cold one, an order of the finger licking worthy Z-Fries, pull up chair on the veranda and enjoy the afternoon or evening. Zugibe has quickly grown on me in the past year. They've come a long way from my prior experiences. My favorite wine is their 2011 4 Fred's Red which pays homage to 4 generations of Zugibe 'Freds'. Perfect dry Red for any occasion. Their food is also excellent. One of the best I've had on the east side of the lake. They make a delicious falafel. Not dry or tough. Definitely worth a stop on the trail. Beautiful and clean tasting room with a nice porch and view. One of my fave locations on Seneca for multiple reasons! Firstly, you get five tastings which is a great number. Second is that you may choose from sweet or dry, and you can go back if red isn't your preference and just tastes whites! Also the staff is incredibly fun and helpful, willing take pictures and help you out in any way you can to ensure you have a great experience. I really loved their tasting room- big, open, rustic, calm. The grounds were beautiful. If I lived near there, it'd be at the top of my list of dream wedding venues. The wines were lovely. They make a really nice Gruner Veltliner, which is pretty rare on LI so I was excited to try it. Their Pinot Noir was awesome, as was their Lemburger.
