I wont state what repair I needed, but it has always been done in one day by other independent shops, so I know for a fact it can be done in one day. I called on a monday to set up an appoint for the following thursday and to drop off my car at 8:30am. I took the day off that thursday and dropped off my car at 8:30am, spoke to a tech, he jotted down what i needed and gave me my carbon copy and I went back to my place to wait for a phone call for an estimate/approval. Hours went by, no call and then at 2:30pm I get a call from craig that he cant get to my car and no estimate. Well, sir, being the experienced owner that you are, you should have known whether or not you could have accommodated my repair in your schedule when I spoke to you days in advance. I always had to take off work early and then uber home and back when my car was finished with an oil change. I recently took a morning stroll on a Saturday Morning and noticed this shop was open. I was given the ROYAL runaround for weeks on end when a simple, "No sir, we cannot service your vehicle here" would have sufficed. I'm still scratching my head over this one because I still cannot fathom how (on God's earth) someone could treat a customer this way, let alone think this is a way to run a business, given the preponderance of customers out there who can easily see behind stock facades and tell when a dude is B-S-ing. My dash had the low tire pressure icon, and since I had an older model car I couldn't tell which one it was. None of the nearby gas stations had a pressure gauge, so I took my car here and Craig was very friendly and professional! He pumped air free of charge into all the tires, inspected them briefly, and said if there's any issues to come right on back. Let me tell you this place is what you dream of if you ever have vehicle issues, especially if you're out of town. So, late night, my work vehicle ran over something that basically ripped the bottom protective plastic sheet from under my vehicle, I drove to work the next day with the plastic scraping underneath and people could hear me coming from a block away. I couldn't drive around like this so I Googled a mechanic in the area that I was working around. Royal Auto Repair popped up and they got the first call ( I SCORED ). They answered the phone immediately and said "bring it on down". I waited for them to finish on a previous vehicle and I watched them work, serious true professionals, old school, mom and pop shop. You can tell these guys were the real deal and their shop was very clean. The phone was ringing all the time and the Chief Mechanic was answering all the calls so politely and they have a following of loyal customers. Needless to say, they removed the under plastic shield and gave it to me so when I return home I can take it to my mechanic and have them order the new shield. Let me be very clear, If I lived in that area, these guys would be the new home for all my vehicles and I would recommend them to everyone I know. The High Yelp and Google ratings are accurate. Over the years, Royal Auto Repair has kept my classic 1956 Chevy Bel Air in great shape Betsy's latest issue was with her carburetor; the choke stuck and it was difficult to start. Craig rebuilt the carburetor but, unfortunately, one key component was worn and and was not replaceable. I researched refurbished carburetor sellers and found one in SOCAL I ordered one and soon thereafter delivered it to Craig. In spite of the seller's 5 star rating, this one had an internal vacuum leak, causing a very rough idle. I returned it for a replacement. The third time was a charm! Betsy starts and idles like new! Additionally, during this saga, I needed to order 2 other new parts; Craig patiently waited (Betsy spent many days tying up his shop, but she did get the attention of passers-by! I came here a few years ago for an oil change. I drive an older high mileage car and I only drive it maybe 10 miles a week on average. They recommended to add on a transmission service, which in total came out to 412 dollars ( I saved my receipt). The next time I got my oil changed, about a year later, at a different place they said the transmission fluid needed to be changed, this made me angry because obviously someone was lying to me, I called royal and told them that and my concerns were dismissed. Since then I've driven my car a total of 3000 miles and was told and shown again today that my transmission fluid was dirty and needs to be replaced. Maybe management has changed at Royal but it's a sad that people, women (i see some others have had a similar experience), a lot of the time are taken advantage of when it comes to automotive services. read more

Great experience here. Took car in for oil change and the owner Craig also helped to reattach part of bumper that had come lose from a curb I scrapped when parking, as well as find a small leak in my tire that was slightly deflated. Unfortunately the tire was not reparable so Craig didn't charge me for the plug he added to the tire so I'm able to drive until able to get a replacement later this week.
