There's an electronics repair place in the mall on Main Street, Ventura IProTech where the repair guy there told me it would cost me between $60 and $90 to repair my GPS. I got the feeling that he was trying to price gouge me, so walked out. Then I found Josh at Ventura Fix who repaired my GPS in minutes for peanuts! I needed a battery swap on an iPhone SE ('22). I had a 3rd-party battery and Josh quoted me a fixed price to install it. We made an appointment, he said it would take less than an hour, and it did. All good. The 3rd party battery won't offer the same "health check" features that an apple battery does, but for nearly double the capacity, that's fine. Good experience. I contacted him for assistance with my elderly parents iPhone (which wouldn't be a problem if I lived in the same state as them - but I don't) I was a bit frantic for assistance, since my parent no longer drives. I had contacted some other shops and gotten some quotes but none of them could pick it up or meet them in their neighborhood, I explained to Josue what was going on and he offered to assist. I brought my Acer Swift X in because I had a bad key on my keyboard. I bought an aftermarket keyboard figuring to replace it myself, but then when I checked the instructions, I discovered you have to go in from the bottom up, so you have to go through all of the guts of the laptop to change the keyboard. I decided to have somebody local do it, and Josue at Ventura Fix got back to me right away and gave me far away the best price. He got into the laptop and discovered that you cannot replace the keyboard alone because it is soldered directly into the housing, so you have to replace the entire housing and not just the key keyboard. Josue put it back together and refused to take any money for the time he spent checking it out. My Galaxy S10+ died the other day after 4 1/2 years of flawless use, went into a reboot loop, and never come on. Service provider and insurance were no help so I looked for a local shop.
