I stopped by to check out this market when I was in the shopping center to visit another shop. I had heard that there was a kosher market there and I wanted to check it out. The actual store is small with a lot of different items available. Both the person working at the checkout area and the person working in the meat department greeted us and asked us if they could help us find anything. We let them know we were just looking but would let them know if there was anything we needed. For a very small store, there was a decent variety of packaged goods, fresh food, baked goods, and prepared food available. Prices were on the more moderate to high side. What I was most surprised to find was one of my very favorite chocolate bars from Switzerland. I have a childhood friend that brings them to me when she is visiting the States, and I had no idea that a local kosher market would have them available. The market is located in a shopping center with ample parking available. I will consider stopping by again in the future. read more

It's honestly a shame what's happened to this place. Ventura Kosher used to be special not just because of the hot food deli but because of the nostalgia. This was the store you went to with your mom as a kid and got rewarded with a hamburger combo. The same combo my friends and I would walk from middle school to get every single week. The original owners were warm kind and genuinely cared. That care is completely gone. The current owners could not care less. Nothing has been fixed updated or renovated. The burger is the main reason I still come here and even that has gone downhill. Old salad mix with brown leaves as lettuce. No salt or pepper on the burger. That is basic. The ONLY reason I come back is because of that infamous 1000 island sauce and the half sour pickle.. HOW CRAZY IS THAT? What makes this worse is that this is the last place in LA serving kosher deli sandwiches and it is being treated like it does not matter. There is no promotion no effort and no willingness to listen even when customers give direct feedback on how to improve. It all gets ignored. Let this be a lesson to any business owner. If you do not listen to your customers if you stay cheap outdated and unwilling to improve it will eventually be the end of your business. This place is not just losing customers it is losing what made it meaningful. It is slowly killing the nostalgia and the inner kid in me that loved coming here. Even Noel behind the deli counter asked me where I had been and said he had not seen me in years. That is the point. It is the responsibility of an establishment to remind customers why they should keep coming back. Big brands still do it. This place stopped trying. I hope someone reads this and takes it seriously. Absolutely! The best meat in all of the valley hands-down no question about it. An enormous selection of the greatest Kosher meets in all of San Fernando Valley. Typically super stacked always helpful. Prices are not cheap. I can tell you a pro to don't come here looking for cheap prices, but he's definitely competitive But for sure the number one butcher in the valley. read more

I have been a customer for many years. The owner Moshe and his staff were incredibly wonderful during COVID and I am continuing to go to them. I went today for picnic fixings. I do not appreciate being treated like dirt. I brought back an empty package of meat (my guests threw it out because it was awful) & discussed with the owner that there was something wrong with the meat; my 14 guests agreed. Moshe argued with me, telling me it was fresh which it may have been but there was still something wrong with it. There was no apology, he didn't try to do anything to rectify the situation & he let me walk away. I only bought my meat from Ventura Kosher but now I am done. They've lost my business & I will never step foot in there again. I should have been treated better but instead the owner was rude, dismissive & argumentative. I was at Ventura Kosher Meats recently to purchase food for Passover. It was an excellent experience. I was able to order it and it came ready in a box, delivered to the car. The process was quick and efficient. The service was quite helpful; the quality of products is very good. While there are better meal plans than the Passover diet, this is as good as can be expected/. The prices are also reasonable, for this season. I would recommend shopping here greatly. read more

Ive been coming here for years and so had my family. Yes they have good meat but the SERVICE IS JUST HORRIBLE ive never come across something like this. We wanted beef skewers and were charged for the beef price but were given chicken and THEY DID NOT WANT TO RETURN IT FOR US. A few months back i bought ground chicken and was charged for ribeye steak. They take people's money and don't even try to help and apologize or at least let us exchange. It is not a big store but the high-quality meet. They also carry many Israeli products. When I need kosher meat this is the place I come to. Might not be the cheapest option, but for sure the Best one. Kind people, happy to serve you, and carry only first products. It was simply so dry and with no falvor They didn't even have pickles, humus or tachina at the restaurant section and didn't make any effort to accommodate Couldnt even finish eating it bc it was so bad. The food is good. The service is mediocre at best. I asked for some chicken legs from meat department. In the case, the legs and thighs are still attached. The butcher asked if I wanted them cut. I said yes. He proceeded to cut the leg apart from the thigh, then he continued to trim away fat, skin and bones. Not what I asked for. That would have been fine had he asked if I wanted the chicken cut and trimmed. Very disappointing. And of course they weigh the meat before they cut and trim it. The quality of the meat is no different from any of the other kosher butchers in the area. Not sure I want to give them any more business. read more

I went there to buy bones. First, one staff tried to sell me very old bones in browny color. When I ask for fresh ones, he said no this is fresh. I showed the package date, then he had to confirm but still unhappy about it. Anyway, they charge 8$ per pound for marrow bone. Today I bought the same quality bones one 1$ per pound. The market doesn't even look clean and it is very pricey. I would never ever recommend this market. read more

The owner is just plain rude. Treats his employees like shit, doesn't care about them at all. If I'm there buying something or giving you business the least he can do is be thankful and nice but no he doesn't care all he cares about is himself. My family had been going here for years since joe Simon was the owner and gave this new owner a chance since we knew the staff there already(very very nice and friendly) and the quality of meets that this place carried. NOOOWW, I wouldn't doubt if anyone got sick from eating the meets there. Don't blame the staff there they are just doing & selling what they are given. I have been going to Ventura Kosher for 15 years. If you live or work around the area you MUST try their Hamburger Combo. Ask for extra thousand island as its the best. The staff is very friendly and they make sure someone is available to help you even when they are busy. I also really like their butchers as they know the best cuts of meat. Try their to go food for lunch. In order of their best; 1). Hamburger combo 2) Roast Beef Sandwich 3) Spaghetti and Meatballs (amazing) 4) turkey sandwich (they really pack on the meat on their sandwiches) 5) orange chicken. read more

Her Thanksgiving turkeys were hard and had no taste, the stuffing was submerged in salt, so unhealthy. And she lied to many customers stating that the turkeys would be cooked on Thursday when they were cooked on Wednesday. Relatively quick service, it always takes less then 10 minutes to get my food. Very nice owner; hes always looking to help people and he always tries to make the customer happy. One time we had a conversation for about 20 minutes and at the end of it he offered to pay for my meal. The mans heart is very big. a good place to buy hard to find kosher items store is packed with items such as fresh bread, sushi, hot lunch to go items etc. I think it was their before handicapped laws were put in place as aisles are not wheel-chair accessible and there is no bathroom even though there is a little outdoor dining. Ordered a hamburger the person in front of me ordered a hamburger as well they took like five sauces and they didn't mention anything to them and I asked for an extra sauce that was very little and wanted to charge for every one. Called in over 3 times before I went in to the market. I was told the grill will be closing at 1:00, and the market will be closing at 2:45. I drove all the way from Pico-Robertson area so I can grab some lunch. After a 30 minute drive to get there, as I walk in I see a man eating a hamburger that looks like it just came off the grill. I walk in at 12:20 and they tell me "We decided to close the grill early today due to too many orders". Waste of time going there and can't even run a proper business. read more

I have been a Ventura Kosher shopper for over 35 years and remember the original owners The Simon's Joe and Zina. The new owners are very nice but they have not done one thing to clean up and change the store. The blinds on the windows have been there since the old owners the windows are dirty and filled with to much advertising and hand written messages. The signs for the hot dog and hamburger meals are old dirty and not very professional. The floor and ceiling are disgusting. They should look at Super Sal, Mr. Kosher and Cambridge and see how a store front and inside should look. Take some pride and show that your customers are important and that you appreciate them. read more
