Keep in mind that I am reviewing Venus II s a restaurant, not as a bar. I have heard good things about it as a bar; during the early evening, my parents regularly patronize it with a large group of friends that they have met there, and later at night I've heard that it is a lot of fun. But I digress. Today, I ate lunch here. I ordered the Fish and Chips of the lunch special menu, which was fine. It was a generous portion for the price, but it wasn't great. It had very little flavor and came only with seasoned fries, which are odd-tasting. On other occasions, I've also gotten pizza here; I love the crust, but the pizzas are somewhat inconsistent. This is a great bar for the beach area of Ocean Bluff and an okay restaurant. The bar pizza is quite good and reminiscent of Poopsie's without the long wait. They have trivia night here which can be fun and the drinks are very reasonably priced. The seafood platter is a let down in comparison to Haddad's. If you want seafood go to Haddad's. If you want bar food and booze on the cheap go the Venus II. Note that you can't see the ocean from Venus' 2nd floor. I've never been to the top floor because it's always closed. read more

3.5-4 stars but went with 4. This review is strictly for the take out pizza. We've tried the buffalo chicken(average- wouldn't get again), pepperoni and a jalapeño and onion. The pepperoni was delicious with huge slices of roni covering the whole surface and the J&O was packed with heat and very good too. Take out time was reasonable for a Friday night(25 min). The crust is really good too. Definitely recommend the pizza here. This is now in our rotation for pizza places when in the mood for bar style or Greek pizza. read more

Just stopped in mid-week with friends to try their lunch specials ($5.99 for your choice of Fish & Chips, a small pizza, an all white-meat tuna salad, burger & fries, soup & salad etc.). Nice surprise! All four of our orders were very good. Large portions, well received by everyone. Skip the pinot noir (by the glass) -not so hot. Chardonnay was fine. One of their $2- 16 oz. I come here often with my grandparents, father, and brother when we stay over for the weekend in Marshfield. To my dismay they only like a handful of restaurants, so we often dine at Venus II. My family enjoys the restaurant for the televisions at every booth that play sports matches and gambling like Keno, as well as the general sports bar feel and Americana food (burgers, fries, pizza). That happens to be exactly why I hate it. I don't know who came up with the idea of having a television at every booth, but it takes away the dining experience in it's entirety. I don't know what ever happened to talking with your friends while waiting for food, but I guess that can be put on hold for baseball [sarcasm]. It is unbearably loud in Venus II, especially from the bar area which is often filled to the brim with bikers, even at the tender hour of 6:30pm. I can hardly hear myself think while at Venus II, and often have to almost yell to say what I need to say, between the televisions and talking. There is always an incredibly long wait, and all for an awful experience. The food is sub par. Not only are there hardly any vegetarian options, but the food is no different than any other sports bar - burgers, pizza, and wings. I usually go for their pizza, but it is much too greasy, and the pasta was not great. I cannot say anything about the bar area because I am not of age, but it is always much too crowded and the epicenter of the noise. Venus II is simply an awful experience every time. read more

I like this place a lot. The pizza is good. It's big and right near the water (Green Harbor) in Marshfield. They have a lot of TVs, even little ones at the tables - free popcorn too. There is a BIG bar with relatively cheap domestic drafts, Keno too. read more

Their bar pizza is one of my favorites- If not my favorite. Typically order take-out only but we have dined in. Dine in is decent, We have tried the seafood platter and my husband a pasta dish. In the past we have also had their chicken and cheeseburgers as well. I would say a step up from your typical pub food. Service is average. It does get busy and parking especially for pick ups can become a bit of a challenge, but not a huge deal. read more

5 stars. As a former masshole who has lived in Florida and NV for many years, it was a pleasure last week during a return visit, to eat here. The pizza was better than the Town Spa in Stoughton of which I grew up with. Wife and I had a bowl of clam chowder which was superb. Service was great. Great atmosphere and to be surrounded by mass accents again. Outside of the Boston, NY areas, there are no good pizzas without trying a million places to find one or two that are decent. So stop complaining about your pizza joints in the south shore. Enjoy . read more

My husband and I visit the Venus when we are in town to drink. A wide selection of cocktails are available and enough beers to keep us happy. We usually walk there from where we stay so Parking is not an issue. Great atmosphere and we love to sit at the bar to watch Sox games! read more

One of the nicest restaurants near a beach on the South Shore. I have always been a fan of their pizza since even before their huge renovation 20 something years ago. You come here for good food, decent prices, a nice deck to enjoy the beach breezes, or inside to watch one of the many tvs to watch the Sox, B's, C',s or Pats. The have a decent size dining area to compliment the bar area. This being one of the few bigger restaurants on the shore it can be busy on busy days, but where isn't it busy in a beach town on the 4th of July?! Instead of complaining, just enjoy another beer of the dozen or so they have on tap. read more

I go to the Venus a few times a month whether it be right after I come off the beach or for drinks on a Friday or Saturday night. I absolutely love their pizza! Other meals are good but I almost always get a pizza. They have a DJ every Friday and Saturday and the music is always good. During the summer it turns into a club atmosphere. Its mostly college kids and the under 30 crowd from local towns that don't want to drive and spend the money in a Boston bar. Under 21 not allowed after 9pm on weekends and its heavily enforced. TERRIBLE! I don't know where begin to explain how much I HATED this place. After spending all day at the beach yesterday with friends we went over to Venus for some drinks and food. The restaurant was not out of control busy but I was told they were short staffed. Right off the bat, our waitress was one of the rudest humans I have encountered. You know how dull waitresses kind of let off a bad vibe... well this waitress was dull plus a HUGE B****. Any question we asked she would give a snippy remark back (i.e asking about drink price) as if we should know the whole menu by heart. 20 minutes later we got our drink and ordered food. We were a group of 8 but we were all couples who shared a plate so it was really only 4 orders. It took about 45 minutes to get our food, not really out of the ordinary. She put all our food on the table and walked away. Not gave each individual their food, just all of it on the table. Finally, she handed us our bills and we all paid and left. I look at my bill today, this waitress charged me $10.00 ( my original bill total) and then another charge for $14.00 giving HERSELF a $4.00 tip when I left her $2.00 (still a 20% regardless of her terrible service because she was having a bad day). ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. Would be an awesome place if the manager would hire so real waitresses. I am calling the manager today to see what they will do about the bill. Love their 'Roni Pizza. Nice big chunks. Solid bar style Pizza. Burgers are good too. Might have the best Fajitas in Marshfield. Wait times to get seated and receive your food are about normal for a place as busy as this is. Waitresses are very nice and attentive. Great Bloody Mary! Went there after the Marshfield race on Saturday. Had a great Bloody at Venus II for under $8. I was expecting a house Mary due to crowds, but was pleasantly surprised. GREAT! We sat in the back part of the bar by the windows, a bit dark but ok. We ordered drinks that took a little long place was packed tho. My friend got a turkey club that was huge !!! It's getting worse. The food is still good and the service is excellent. But the old locals are ruining it. They're loud cackling hens and I've actually seen one of them squeeze a chair into the bar and force a guy off the end of the bar who was just trying to enjoy his meal! We took a drive and ended up in Marshfield for dinner. While walking to another restaurant we decided to try Venus II instead. What a great place!!! Our waitress Kerri was great! She had a great personality and did her job well!!! The staff was always busy clearing tables - bringing food and drinks, etc. It was a great place with great atmosphere!! I wasn't a big fan of my dinner but the salad was great and dessert was amazing! My husband said the chowder and fish were the best he ever had. Can't wait to go back! read more

My mother raved about this place so we went last Friday night. We didn't get to eat so I cannot rate the food but the service was horrible. We were given a beeper and after 45 minutes of waiting they realized that they skipped us. Awesome. They brought us to a table outside right away. 3 waitresses walked by us and never acknowledged our existence. We sat there for 15 minutes and walked out. We have relatives that are locals and were actually supposed to have their anniversary party there that night. I'm sure they would be very upset we were treated that way but we will save them the disappointed. Will not return. read more

An ok place I guess, a Tuesday night about 7:00, we were told a 20 minute wait for outside. We took an inside table and in our first 5 minutes we watched 3 tables outside open up and nobody filled them. Our server was friendly, but one meal was completely wrong. She apologized and brought the correct order in about 10 minutes, so kudos for a quick fix. Meals were good and prices were good. I would not run back for a dining experience, but does look like a fun Happy Hour type place out on the deck! read more

The thing that most bothers me is the draft selection from 1996. There is seriously not one local craft beer on tap other than Harpoon. You'd think they could at least put a Mayflower IPA or some other beer that gets crushed at other bars. I just don't get it. Stiff competition from Haddad's next door with a significantly better selection, why not? It's cool you sell cheap Bud Lights, but when those people have friends who recognize it is piss water, then the group ends up choosing a different bar to go to. read more

I went there on a Saturday night last summer and also numerous, other times as well. Inside the place where the restaurant/bar is was a mess with beer and other drinks spilled all over the entire floor in one giant puddle as well as all over the bar and slippery too. Men's bathroom was filthy with both urinals filled with puke, toilet also.. and trashbarrel overflowing with paper towels and other litter all over the sink area and the floor. Note: It's been like this EVERY TIME I HAVE BEEN IN THERE. At the bar, when I went to order a drink, the female bartender refused to serve me. She said exact quote- ??"because my eyes were closed and she couldn't serve me"?? My eyes weren't closed since this would be impossible since I was looking right at them (the bartenders) and I pointed this out. I was completely sober. There was a male bartender also. Both bartenders were clearly drunk and intoxicated and also looked like they were under the influence of drugs as well. Both bartenders had gigantic, dialated, pupils, glassy eyes, and a very offputting, intoxicated demeanor...particularly the female. Apparently, someone left her in charge for the evening since she told the drunk, male bartender not to serve me either. He said he was sorry but had to do what she said! (I have lazy eye and also past injury but my eye was nowhere near closed.) I pointed out this to the bartenders and they said "it didn't matter" and the female bartender said that "she didn't care". *This would be 'discrimination based on disability'.* The female bartender also LIED and said the bouncer said this and not to serve me which was a LIE because the 2 bouncers both pleasantly greeted me when I first walked in and then were both outside shortly afterwards and remained outside the entire duration I was inside dealing with what I described in last paragraph with the drunken individuals from the upstairs function room event. *It's funny because everyone in the entire place was off their rocker (and I don't mean from just drinking either) and the bartender refused to serve me?? All the barflies and middle-aged cocoons who were buzzing around inside the place appeared to have been drinking all day and just 1 drop away from getting alcohol poisoning..and also annoying as hell. Also, the middle-aged clientele repeatedly kept getting inside your personal space and bumping into people. The clientele leaves a lot to be desired and it's been like this every, single time I've been here. With trying to order something, I've seen the bartenders do this with others too such as ignore them when waiting for service, refuse service to individuals for no legitimate reason and /or valid reason or basis when they asked for something, etc. It's possible they just do this to people they don't know and who aren't from around here. There was also a wedding party upstairs with party bus and/party limo RV's parked out front. From the wedding party, there was some fat lady rolling around in the gutter outside out in front of the place and also another lady sitting on front stairs with head in her hands ready to pass out and another sitting on curb puking with head in hands. Saw several fire/rescue ambulances pulling up and having to deal with it. I've seen this numerous times in the past also when the upstairs closes and the function lets out, everyone comes downstairs stumbling into the regular bar section and stumbling around the room in a drunken stupor. [*ADDITIONAL NOTES: The review isn't about the food since I never got to try it. Also, the Bouncers have always been courteous. From other reviews, maybe it's a different experience earlier in the day with the restaurant crowd and at other times. I've been in there on many different weekend nights throughout the entire summer months on many, many occasions. That's what my review is based on]. UPDATE: 02/08/18-This business complained about the review to Yelp. Instead of complaining to Yelp about all the negative reviews and trying to get them moved to 'not recommended' section, maybe the business owner/management (and all business owners/mgmt as a whole for that matter) should do something about it by making a concerted effort to start making some changes for the better and trying to improve things based on what is written in the negative reviews. The only ones they have to blame for the negative reviews and giving an overall, negative impression of the business is the staff and themselves, not the reviewer. It's not the reviewer's fault that the place is a horror show. read more

A day at the beach and twice had ventured over for quick take out, then some appetizers at the bar with a few friends. Early lunch was great grilled chicken Greek wrap was perfect, and the chicken was cold so the wrap wasn't a soggy mess after I returned to be a beach bum. My return visit was awesome good beer selection, and they were cold and refreshing as if it came from my refrigerators freezer. The nachos and haddock bites were on point. Good to see families and beach goers. The staff were on point and so friendly, not overwhelming at all, and I will say I'll be back my next time down to Brant Rock! read more

If the management is anything like Venus III in Hanson. I would not recommend this place. I went to Venus III tonight for dinner and I would not recommend this place to anyone. This is the third time I have left there unhappy. My mother ordered a stuffed haddock and I ordered a Chicken parm sandwich meal. We had a coupon for buy one dinner and get one free up to $10.00. My meal was only 8.95 so you would assume they would take off the cheapest meal. Although our waitress Carol was very good all coupons need to go through a manager for approval. The manager said because I did not order an "entree" we could not use the coupon. I was disgusted that 1.) we should have been able to use it and 2.) The waitress had to inform us of the decision rather than an explanation from the manager. This is poor customer relations and due to this will never go here again! read more
