The wife and I stopped over in Middletown to stay overnight prior to moving our kid into Oxford. We were looking for a place that maybe had a game on and had some grub. Places located in a strip mall while it did have good reviews it was in a seemingly seedyD edge of town. It's been my experience anytime you're near a convenience store that has those weird LED lights strong about the windows it's not the best area but I digress. The parking lot is super weird and it seems like you just kind of Park wherever you want there's no real method and it seems like they lose out on about 15 parking spots because it's not painted. The place is decorated rather nicely and they have a lot of Bourbons I really enjoy Corona na but nobody seems to carry it and this place was no exception so I had a Stella na instead. My wife and I were not famished so we both ordered a pretty simple house salad and we split a plate of chicken tenders which came with fries and coleslaw. You really can't screw up a salad too badly and they did pretty good here the chicken tenders were way overcooked chicken should not be that tough and you can tell by the breading that it was a lot darker than it was supposed to be but I still ate it. Not that it wasn't inedible I just wish it was not cooked as long. Pretty good portion of french fries coleslaw seems like it was standard food service coleslaw. Although I'm not drinking anymore they did have a whole boatload of Bourbons which in my younger days I probably would have tested quite a few of them so their name is true to the inventory. Music was a tad loud I kind of wish they had the ami jukebox where you can take it over and play your music either that or put the baseball game on something like that. He ordered a burger and said it was amazing--perfectly juicy and full of flavor. I had a chicken pasta dish that was very good, and we shared the roasted Brussels sprouts as a starter, which were absolutely delicious. Our waitress, Micky, was truly amazing--friendly, attentive, and made the evening feel extra special. Even with the crowd, the staff was quick, friendly, and clearly focused on customer service The old-fashioned cocktails were top-notch, and the bourbon selection was one of the best I've seen around. Sipping away when all of a sudden, it felt like they'd turned the heat on. One of my restaurant peeves (and this is on the patrons as much as the restaurant workers, to be fair) is when there's a line/wait and people stand holding the door open, letting all the cool air (or heat) escape. With no regard for anyone else's comfort, this group of gals was standing in the door, fantasying about strapping on the feed bag. I really want to support this business but I don't know. A couple of weeks ago we ate here with out of town family and the fish tacos, wings and alcoholic drinks were great. I question why the waffles are not scratch made. They taste good but they are overly sweet. The size is on point and priced reasonably for the dish. We enjoyed it! The food was excellent, though not a huge selection. I would describe it as elevated bar food; highly elevated, plus there's Chicken and Waffles on offer! Is this available all day; are there different menus for dinner time? I do not know. Ours was a Sunday noon visit. Of course I went for the C&W. Our waitress, Danielle, asked if I wanted it tossed in the honey hot sauce. It was a very good question and I opted to take it on the side. Way more hot than honey, and I was glad to be able to drizzle and dip. The Waffles were excellent, crispy soft and just sweet enough. The syrup pour was generous. Chicken nice and tender. Phenomenal dish. Danielle, by the way, was one of the best waitresses we've experienced in recent memory. Shout out! My husband had the All American burger and loved it. The fries were special, lightly seasoned (didn't need salt) and pillowy soft inside. The half sour pickles were great! Lots of white tiles makes it very bright inside. Reclaimed wood and iron piping were included in the decor too. It seems kind of small, but when I back to visit the very clean and accessible ladies room, I noticed a much bigger second dining room with its own bar. It was not in operation at the time. I was unhappy that they only offered the extensive bourbon and drink list via a QR code. They should be proud enough of what's on offer to have quality printed lists. They didn't seem to have a problem with this in the past! I saw the photos on Yelp! They also try to steer you to use that for the food menu too but at least those are available in print (but missing a couple items, LOL). It didn't bother me because nothing would've been more appealing than the chicken and waffles. But, it might annoy you. Pro tip 1: the Fancy Sauce is perfect for dipping fries! Pro Tip 2: if you sit at one of the high tops by front window, your table will experience a tremor every time that front door slams closed. Keeping this one on the brunch list for sure. read more

The bar dining area was packed so they took us around the corner to another area. It was a little awkward as the restaurant next-door was closed and I felt like they were using part of their restaurant for additional seating. This was the reason I knocked off a star. My family and I were out in Middletown for a soccer tournament. We needed a quick and early lunch and found Bourbon's Kitchen nearby the fields. We were seated right away and ordered a couple of beers from the decent beer list. They also have over 130 whiskeys and a long cocktail list. For lunch, I had the Grippo's sandwich with hand-breaded chicken. This was topped with muenster cheese, fancy sauce, creamy coleslaw, crushed Grippo's chips, and smoked bacon ($15.50). Sweet potato waffle fries are a $4 addition but are well worth it. This sandwich is typically served as a steak burger, but chicken can be subbed or an impossible burger. This was delicious and the spicy from the Grippo's chips really stood out. My wife had the Baja fish tacos with crispy haddock, fire-roasted black beans, and corn, house-pickled purple cabbage, salsa verde, ancho chile crema, and cilantro ($14). She seemed really happy with her choice, though the fries were an interesting side choice. Our kids enjoyed the cheeseburgers and fries from the kids' menu ($7.99). We've been here twice and I have two great meals. We had 11 in our party and called ahead, so we got seated right away. Looks like a hole in the wall from outside but inside, they can accommodate larger groups in the back. The queso poutine fries were a hit as an appetizer! What an amazing restaurant!! I tried both the truffle burger and the chicken sandwich. Talk about delicious! The burger was cheesy with a great subtle truffle flavor. The fries were also some of the best I've tried recently. Their "special sauce" is also a great dipping accompaniment. The service was good. The server seemed to struggle a bit remembering our orders and had to come back several times to verify and brought out a wrong drink. But everybody has those days, it was still a great experience.
