The barista here is truly the champion. It's been so busy all afternoon and he's alone but KILLING it. Efficient and kind and getting everything done - very impressive. The pumpkin spice was decent - not too sweet or super unique but I enjoyed it. This pumpkin chocolate chip muffin was calling my name and I have no regrets. Not a ton of tables inside but there's been somewhere to sit all afternoon - with plenty of outlets. 11/10 read more

Good coffee, but a bit disappointed as I came in for a drip and they didn't have one. The barista offered me an Americano and did the thing I hate... not charge me the cheaper price for drip since they're out. Whatever. Ended up being upcharged for the Americano. Like I said, it was good, but I would have gone to a different spot for drip had I known that they don't always have it and won't make an Americano for the same price. read more

Small but cute! I got their lavender latte and it was surprisingly not too sweet, just the way I like it. I love the wall art and their little book cart. Lot of plugs for computer and phone charging too. Really great place to be productive! read more

Ran out of fresh roasted coffee at home and my next bag was delayed due to the holidays so I needed more coffee. Found this place close by. They roast their coffee fresh in house. You buy a bag and they'll even grind it for you! Plus you get a free drink. It's 14 bucks which actually really good for fresh roasted coffee. You'll taste the difference right always. The coffee? It's really good and you'll never want Starbucks let alone any coffee you buy in a store! read more

I cane here on a coffee date with my friend. She recommended this place to me and I was very excited to try it. It's a very small coffee shop with a nice seating area. They have the normal coffee options but they also had a seasonal menu. I saw a Nutella latte among other holiday drinks. I wanted to try it, but I just went with a matcha latte instead. The barista was very nice and helpful. Can't wait to be back! read more

I was not happy with my cappuccino. This is how I rate coffee shops on quality of beans, espresso machine, and the baristas ability to pull a tasty shot. Really cute little coffee shop in Memorial! Pretty new as they've only been here 2 months. Nice ambiance for studying or working. Service is wonderful, WiFi is good and coffee prices are fair. $2.50 for a drip coffee and $1 unlimited refills. Good number of outlets. Parking is easy. Only con is that I find their metal chairs cute but not superrr comfortable. read more

You know that feeling when you finally found a coffee shop that's less than 5 minutes from your home and makes great coffee plus it's independently owned? That is how I felt when I first entered Verbena Coffee while still in the soft opening mode a few months back. Initially their hours were only 7AM to 3PM but that's not the case anymore and that's great because sometimes I need that pick-me-up after 3PM. Verbena Coffee is a great cozy coffee shop in that strip mall at the corner of Kirkwood and Memorial. The interior decor gives that rustic wooden feel as one side of the wall is just planks of wood put together and the lights are standard Edison bulbs with wooden geometric shapes. There's plenty of outlets for people to use and of course there's free WiFi there as well. But even with all that, it's all about the coffee. First, the price is unbelievably great for a small coffee shop. Second, Verbena Coffee does make great coffee there. I know I'm not the only one but I would get my breakfast at the donut shop next door and then get my coffee from Verbena Coffee to-go as let's face it, the donut shop's coffee can not be compared to here. Speaking of their coffee, their selection has all the basics and that's pretty much it. They keep it simple so they are ensured to make some of the best they can every day for a consistent quality. From all the times I have been there, I can see the business is picking up with people staying there to study, to discuss business, or simply just neighbors and friends catching up with each other over a cup of Joe. I am happy to have another great coffee shop in this west Houston. I will certainly be coming here as this has now deem as my favorite local coffee place in my heart. read more

I really wanted to like this place.. but the coffee itself was terrible. I thought the barista mistakenly made my caramel macchiato wrong, they re-made it, and it still had this strange taste to it.. Not to mention 3 other to-go customers came back to have their drinks re made in a short period of time. I like the natural lighting and ambiance but.... Unfortunately the employees are very loud, giggling and talking very loudly.. would not recommend coming here to study. So much for trying a new place. I wont be back. read more

This place is super cute. They have great selections for food and drinks and I love that they provide a menu for fun drinks because I have no idea how to order good coffee outside of drip/pain. The coffee and snacks are also very tasty. I've been here twice and each time had rude baristas. Not just to me. I stayed for a bit and they were sour to everyone that came in. The last time I went they filled my cup just over half way (exactly as pictured). I kept waiting for my coffee. I had assumed someone left their partially used drink on the counter, but when I asked they said it was my drink. read more

I love Verbena Coffee! We got an iced oat milk vanilla latte and a hot chai tea latte with oat milk. It's great that they have so many options for milk to accommodate us non-dairy people. Not only are the drinks amazing, the inside is super chic and comfy. They had couches, tables and high top bar seating so perfect to hang with friends or be productive on your laptop. I'm obsessed with the decor (might use them as inspo for my own home). The staff was welcoming and accommodating and our drinks were made within minutes of ordering. 10/10 would come back! read more

What a great find! Super nice interior with lots of plants and nice furniture. Fun, geometric patterns adorn the walls. Lots of tables outside and they keep people socially distanced without feeling restrictive. One of the best lattes I've had. I had high hopes for this place. I've been on a search for a coffee place in Houston that actually has a strong, rich coffee taste (imagine just drip coffee and a little bit of condense milk) and was hoping this will put an end to the search. The barrista suggested a flat white when I told her what I like and I went with it. I do want to say that this drink actually tastes like coffee instead of one of those trendy flavors some places offer. However, it's still not rich enough for my taste. My mom got a cappuccino. This place has been on my list to try for months now but I'm never in this neighborhood! So happy I was finally able to stop by! It happened to be their one year anniversary; so exciting! The interior is super cute with geometric patterns, plants, and modern decor. There was socially distanced seating inside and a few tables outside and everyone seemed to be minding their COVID manners. I absolutely LOVE that they have a little roasting shack built in to the cafe area. It was awesome to see and smell the magic of Hywood Roasters come to life! I decided to try a new coffee spot and this place is definitely worth returning to! I walked in and they had a very cute set up with a couch and some cozy chairs. They have a full drink menu and some sides snacks and sweets and they have multiple flavors to choose from for your coffee and tea needs. The barista was very kind and gave me the recommendation for a lavender latte which I got iced and it was very delicious. Restrooms were super clean and as well as the main floor. This is a great spot to do work or to relax by yourself or with some friends. I will definitely be returning soon! read more

Pretty chill little coffee shop. A little small, but I still had room to sit and study. Got a little busy during the lunch rush but nothing some noise canceling headphones couldn't fix. The coffee was good and reasonably priced. The food they really have is pastries, which was okay - about what you'd get somewhere like starbucks. Sadly didn't get a picture of my drink, but I wanted some coffee from a local coffee shop and randomly stumbled upon this GEM! Verbena Coffee was amazing and I loved that they were taking the precautions to ensure that their customers were being kept safe during these times, and had limited seating and hand sanitizer out AND their employees had masks! Great coffee, beautiful shop, and even better employees! Highly recommend anyone who is wanting to get out of the house for a second and to support a great local shop! read more

Great coffee with a lot of variety without being overwhelming to someone who is always indecisive. They also have a lot of different type of seating options: Small tables, counters, couch, or a single ergonomic chair. Nice quiet place to get some work, meet friends, or have a casual business meeting. I had a flat white with oat milk and winter spice house made syrup. The winter spice house made syrup is made from one of their spiced roobios tea. It gave my flat white a subtle spiced complexity. I enjoyed it a lot. They have a lot of different milk alternatives. The seasonal syrups they have are house made. They have a variety of tea and coffee drinks. The barista were friendly and remembers all of theirs regulars. They are interactive with their customers from the moment they walked in to the moment they left. I also overheard one of the barista mention a discount for people who work nearby. Although they were super sweet to everyone else and they were never rude to me, I didn't feel like I experienced the same hospitality as the other customers which is off putting. I wasn't greeted the same, no one asked me how my drink was, no one said bye, and no one asked me if I worked nearby to get a discount (which I did). This was my first time here and this review is based on one experience. My flat white was amazing and it is very close to my work place. I love the aesthetic and vibes. Hopefully, my next visit I will feel as welcomed as all the other customers I observed. read more

I ordered an iced oat milk latte with lavender syrup and it was very lackluster. I wanted more coffee flavor but the flavors seemed off and it didn't taste good. It tasted like watered down, slightly on the edge of burnt coffee grounds. The lavender flavor was prominent but I've had much better elsewhere. I don't really see myself coming back since I've expected much better. However, the aesthetic and shop is very clean! They're obviously a neighborhood favorite. For my first time here, I got both a latte and a cappucino, and they were both an enjoyed sip. The staff is super friendly and efficient taking care of every order that's made, and made in a timely manner. Very much worth a try, if you're looking for your go-to coffee shop

My top recommendations are the Coconut Mango Boom, Cloud Jasmine Tea (basic but so good), Yuzu Oolong Tea, Brown Sugar Milk Tea, Mochi Yingde Black Milk Tea, Grapefruit Boom and the toasty/wheat-y Longji Cloud Milk Tea.

If you're searching for a coffee spot conducive to meetings without the pressure to order quickly, I wouldn't recommend this place. The bearded barista was quite rude, interrupting my meeting every 15 minutes with an assumption that we might not order anything. As someone who frequently works in coffee shops within the sales industry, I always make a purchase. It was shocking when he suggested libraries as an alternative place to work, even after I assured him I planned to buy coffee and even though there was plenty of room for additional guests to sit. Ultimately, we felt unwelcomed and were asked to leave. From some of the other reviews, it seems they may be struggling with their product quality, which could be affecting their business. Perhaps they need to increase sales, but that shouldn't come at the expense of a pleasant customer experience. A suggestion would be to eliminate the seating area and consider a drive-thru option if they intend to pressure patrons into making quick purchases. read more

I love this place this is being my first time walking into it here you will feel so welcome and at ease, it is so peaceful I could spend my entire weekend here. The coffee and the tea are really excellent. Very nice interior setting and the ambiance is pleasantly great too. Everything was absolutely good and so delicious. Ordered the Oat milk latte and it tastes so good and has a smooth flavor. Hot or cold the coffee is great here. read more

The interior of the shop is super cute, decorated in pinks and greens and browns. The barista was one of the owners, and she was very nice! She made conversation while my friend and I were deciding what to get and broke down some of the menu items for us. I ended up getting the Mango Raja, and my friend got the Golap Jamun latte. Both of them were incredible! The matcha flavor in the Mango Raja was not super strong, but it was so silky, and I like that they added extra matcha powder on top of the foam (because I personally love the taste of matcha). And the mango they used were real chunks of mango. There wasn't much additional sweetener, which allowed the mango flavor to really pop. The Golap Jamun latte was so rich, and it actually tasted like coffee, which I appreciate. Overall, I highly recommend this place! I look forward to coming back and trying everything on the menu. :)
