My sales person monitored the entire process. The customer service team kept me informed of each step. The installers were clean and efficient, even with my clay tile roof. A verengo rep came to my house today. She kept touching me, calling me 'honey,' etc. I responded with usual social cues such as stepping away and turning my body almost sideways in order to become a smaller swaying target. These tactics did not work. Strange. I won't get too much into the nitty gritty, but the one star is for two very simple reasons: 1. Their flyer says, "Verengo Solar in the News:" and has the NPR logo. Go ahead, try googling it. 2. There are over a hundred Yelp reviews that have been "filtered out." Read them. read more

After hearing about Verengo Solars 'great deals' on solar sales and insulation. My husband and I decided to call and make an appt. so far so good. Sales rep from Verengo Solar described his company polices and offers. Great deal numbers seemed fair 38 panels $500 down, but after talking live to a manager stated that the $500 would go away. So zero down payment $135 a month would be our bill plus the DWP enforced bill...We were good with that. Agreed to sleep on it over night. The rep seemed ok with that. Next morning I received an email 'confirming my deal' .....however now the deal said $1200 down $155 a month. I emailed Verengo's rep to question the change in numbers. i guess we asked too many questions. Never, not once did the rep or anyone from Verengo ever contact us again. My inverter connection unit failed and I could not find any single working phone line for the company. First of all, I am SO TIRED of their scare-tactic commercials on the radio, trying to convince us that if we don't go solar now, the world will end and we'll all go to the poor-house. That being said, I did have them look at my house. it was a terrible experience. The salesman Jason almost didn't make it into the door. He wasn't a licensed contractor! When I asked him to show me his HIS (Home Improvement Salesperson) license, he said he left it at home, but didn't need it. ANY contractor who gives a quote for doing work on your house has to be licensed by the state of California. If my wife and kids were home, he wouldn't have come in. But I let him in out of curiosity. I'm an engineer, but his explanation was unclear and misleading. He made promises which were not backed up by their complex contract, which is riddled with hidden fees and charges. They wanted to take a loan out in my name, which means they can put a lien on my house! Also, their balooning lease payment makes no sense. My $140 payment to them now would be over $300 by the end of the term. Did we learn nothing from the housing crisis? Increasing loan rates are bad. Fixed is the only way to go. They do offer that too, but it costs an extra $3000. There were numerous other red flags mixed in with the lies. We are extremely Unsatisfied customers to say the very least. Our panels were installed in 2012. We did our research when we were considering Solar and back in 2012 the reviews were good because it was all so new to lease and most likely good reviews were only because they were falsely claimed by Verengo employees to sell their product. Truth has now been proven as to why Verengo is a Scam!!!! We were promised to save money every year but we haven't. We have more than plenty of panels, in fact 32 for $283 a month with 2% increase every year. There should be absolutely no reason we should also have to pay Edison another $120+ a month. That is over $400 a month we are averaging. We are paying thousands more every year not saving thousands like we were promised. We were also told we would get paid back from Edison and/or SunRun but we haven't once in almost 3 years. We actually have to watch our usage like never ever before!!! Never thought we'd have to with Solar!!! Verengo also charges ridiculous amount per kilowatts and keeps increasing because they claimed that Edison's prices will double in a few years. Well, truth and facts are that Edison's prices have not doubled like they claimed. We also didn't receive a copy of the contract/agreement until months later after we requested numerous times. Of course until it was too late to cancel. They also never notified us when our panels were approved by Edison. Very poor follow through once contracts are signed. We also have tried selling our home for months and could Not because no one in their right mind would take over the 20 year lease/contract and high payments. Sleazy sales people...that pretty much sums it up. They interrupted a party at our house on a Sunday afternoon, knocking on our door. My husband and I were actually interested in installing these so we heard them out. We scheduled a consultation appointment...and then we went on yelp. Holy cow! So I called them and was very nice, said that we wanted to cancel our appointment. They insisted on knowing why so I told them their reviews were not good. And there it started. The pitch after pitch (after pitch) and he would NOT get me off the phone. I felt harassed. "Why won't you want cheaper electric bills?" to "Do you really want to rely on a bunch of strangers to make a decision like this?" The best part was, "We never asked you for your business. You made the appointment with us." to which I finally raised my voice, that THEY knocked on OUR door on a Sunday afternoon and we were good enough to listen to their pitch with a bunch of 2 year olds screaming and running around the house. I had to hang up on him. Literally, he would not shut up and I had to speak over him and say, "I AM HANGING UP NOW. GOOD BYE." If I could give this company a -5 star I would. My mom and I set up an appointment with a verango solar representative about a month ago because we were interested in solar. After the rep explained everything to us he pulled out the document to sign up. I told my mom it wasn't a good idea and we should wait for my step dad to get home and she agreed. However, the sales man keep pushing her to sign up. He would not give up, he kept saying to us," it's fine you'll save a lot of money with us" after about 7 times of us saying no he gave up and told us we could sign everything online and left. Peer pressure comes in many different shapes and sizes. Me being younger (18) I've experienced quite a lot of it, but never from a grown adult like that. I was shocked that a man more then 2x my age was pressuring my mom and I like that. I think he felt like we were an easy target because my moms husband wasn't there. At the end of his visit I realized he was just another sales man trying to suck my family into their scheme. I've had solar panels installed by Verengo Solar for over Six years. It is the worst home decision I have ever made. You are giving them the space on YOUR roof for free for the privilege of paying them for the solar power generated by the panels! It is a terrible deal. Edison is then billing you on top of that as well. We get an annual adjustment bill by Edison that almost entirely wipes out ANY $ savings you have accumulated month to month. Usually over $1,000 to Edison at years end. The most money we have saved over the course of a year is a net of about $50. It is not worth the hassle of paying 2 power bills every month and then getting slammed at the end of the year right when you can't afford it after the holidays. It is very dishonest and miss leading advertising by Sunrun. I want to feel good about generating solar power for the grid but I don't like taking it up the tailpipe from the Sunrun lies about how much power you will actually generate. They don't let you store any of the power you generate. They lie right to your face about how someone will call you to make an appointment to service and clean the panels to make sure you are generating at peak efficiency. We have not been contacted once to service and clean the panels in six years of accumulating LA dry desert dirt. This company sucks. They give you every excuse why they can't help you. They won't add panels to save you more money from Edison. They set it and forget it. And that's it. As long as you are generating some amount of power they couldn't give a rats a$$ if you save any money from Edison. If I could go back in time I would NOT do this again! read more

Would love to give them more stars but...we referred friends who used our name and Verango is fighting us on the $500 referral fee...we've been fighting this for months and getting a runaround. They profited thousands of dollars from us and our referred friends' installation and refuse to pay $500...that is just slimy! Although we have 1400 square feet of panels in what Verango said is a "perfect south-facing location" and previously an electric bill averaging under $200, the system did not cover our electric bill so rather than getting a check from Edison at year end, we were hit with a bill for several hundred dollars. The rep I spoke with knew her pitch well and seamlessly controlled the conversation, avoiding questions she didn't want to answer directly with charm. I'm not sure why I couldn't get her to call this setup a lease. It is. She kept telling me I was buying energy from "them" at a reduced rate, "them" being the finance company. I was interested in solar so I looked into it and found this company, made an appointment with a rep for a saturday evening and they no call no show. Company called me early monday morning to reschedule that evening but this time it's a telephonic appointment. I agreed but felt it felt little odd, I've never had a telephonic appointment before. Guy calls me and in the back ground I hear a bunch of other people talking and some laughter. Instantly I hear the salesman reading a pitch. Even fkkk up a little but fixes himself, apologized and went on. We talked for about 10 min and while we were talking I looked up this company on yelp. I commented that they have a 2 on yelp he got offensive and for a min and ended it with, "Yelp is not the Better Business Bureau". In 4 days it will be 1 year since we signed the papers for our system. We had three different reps come to our property over six months. The installers came in September to hook it all up. Well that never happened, what did happen was they dropped all of the racks and panels in my driveway and left. Before that they drilled a hole in my house and cut down a five foot shrub while taking out my driveway posts. I stopped the last truck leaving and asked them when they would be back and he said they don't know. After two months with no contact I call the local dispatch office to see what was going on. I didn't get an answer, WOW! Now approaching a year I would like my deposit back and the solar taken away from my property. I love there contract because it is no void stating that if its not installed in a timely manner we can part. I hope others had better experience with this company because I didn't. I did a lot of research on solar companies and was please to see what I found from some of my research. They are A rated, and have an electrical license. They are guaranteeing my system, inverter, and MY roof (to not leak where they installed or altered) for 20 years. Here is my start to finish from March through July, and yes it takes a while for everything, although the install was only two days. From the very start I was a little skeptical, but the salesperson who helped me was very honest and didn't pressure me at all. After the sales process, there was a site analysis where someone comes out and surveys your house. I requested a few things as far as location, and he wrote them all down. He takes all the information to the design/engineering team. Engineering made plans and sent them to me for approval. After I said yes, they had to get approved from my HOA. After all was approved it was time for installation. Everything went better then I expected. The install was super clean. The electrical was amazing and they mounted the inverter in my garage. There was no conduit visible from the street and they hid it behind a rain gutter. City inspection with a Verengo inspector was next and went fairly smoothly. Everything passed except for a flashing/roof jack was missing. Verengo came out the next day and had it done. City inspector was happy and signed everything off. Edison issued the permission to operate and now I'm up and running. Verengo sent someone to paint and patch. He did a fantastic job, and I am really picky about my garage. I can't even tell where the patch was the texture is so good. Verengo is open all the time and they will send someone very quickly if needed. I am quite nervous after reading all these reviews that we made a huge mistake but I hope that is not the case. We have had a great experience so far. It did take a very long time to get up and running about 6 months but that being said we have been happy so far. The sales guy was great. Very knowledgable and informative. It just took a long time from when we signed to get going.Some of that had to do with our HOA. The installation crew was so nice and professional. Very clean. From my perspective, they have done an excellent job in keeping me updated with my purchases and installation. I had a personal representative who explained the cost, fees, maintenance, etc. I admit that waiting for the installation took longer than expected because pending city approval, but once that was all approved, everything was smooth sailing. I'm going to give this company 2 stars, not because we don't love having solar installed on our home because we do, but sticky because their customer service really is lacking. My husband and I decided to put solar on our Monrovia home because our house sits up on a hill and our home literally bakes during the summer. Last August out utility bill was over $800 and not because we were neglectful (as we only run A/C when we are home). My husband did his research and decided to meet with Verango. Let me just say that our utility bills, which averaged $500 a month, are now about $225.00! It really has been a lifesaver having solar on our home. The representative that the company sent out was very informative. Nice young man who seemed to know what he was talking about. If this was a review on the rep I probably would give him 4/5 stars. The one thing he failed to do was set an expectation as to how long the process would take. He did say that it would take a couple months- but 4.5 months later? I think from the time we signed out paperwork to the time the solar was installed and working was about 5 months (start to finish). I understand they only have so much control over the situation as the city takes their happy ass time with permits and inspections, but keeping us in the loop would have been appreciated. Literally my husband and I had to manage the process. Calling Verengo sometime 3-4 times a week trying to figure out what's going on with our installation. As a consumer I shouldn't have to call a company and manage my own account. ***I read a couple other reviews where people said that their bills go up. We were told (and it's in our contract) that our bills won't go up for 20 years (bills from Verengo). We get a bill from Verengo and then we also get a bill from Eddison, and all our bills from Eddison have been credits because we generate so much power. We've had solar for about 5 months now and that's the way it's been since Day-1. The one thing I can suggest to this company is to hire account managers. I checked this Solar company out earlier this month coming from the Bay Area. The staff were very nice! I am huge on going green and would consider Verengo for future solar needs. The main point is I saw there advertisment poster which I thought was so cool! They gave me some prints of the solar advetisment since the athlete on the poster I am a fan of and it's cool he is going green too:) I forgot to take a picture with the poster, but they wrote my name down in case they don't need the poster so I can use it sharing ways of going green up here in the Bay Area the mecca of green energy. I called Verengo Solar last week to get a person to stop by. It was on a Friday. I asked to see someone on the following Monday because I was starting my Vacation then. The associate on the phone insisted that I talk with another associate that night. He said he had someone in the neighborhood. I explained that I commute a long distance and that I could not be certain of when I could get home due to the holiday traffic and it was raining. He was very insistent and said he could have someone come by around 7pm. I reluctantly agreed. I left my work a little earlier to make sure I got home in time. I sat around waiting for their associate to arrive till about 7:45 and he never showed or called. This to me is completely unprofessional and tells me a lot about their company. They wasted my Friday night, my time, and my money cause I left work early. To this day they have not bothered to contact me about this. Sometimes I read reviews on Yelp and realize that people only like to complain. My experience with Verengo has been nothing short of perfect and I am having them do my parents home as well. From the guy who knocked on my door (who was very nice) to the day my power was turned on it has been a pleasant experience. I was impressed with how candid my salesperson was and he made sure to ask questions that I didn't think of. Honestly I should not have gave him coffee because he was a talker lol, but it was all educational. After that came the inspector who took pics and took measurements from my roof. Then I did not really do to much other than answer a couple phone calls that just kept me in the loop. My sales rep called me every couple weeks until the panels were put on my house and then he brought me a 6 pack of my favorite beer (i dont know how he noticed that?!) and my dog a chew toy to celebrate the panels being installed. After reading some of the reviews, it made me realize that sometimes you just need to get a good sales person to explain things honestly. Just ask questions and if your salespersons answers are shaky, just find a better sales person or a different company. I also wanted to say that my bills is $140 & $156 which is a little higher that i thought, but after speaking with my sales guy he reminded me that summer produces more energy so it will be lower in the winter. I will pay about $40 to Edison a month also, but it is much better that the $300 bill i paid in June!! Great communication! Great Job! read more

I am quite confused by reading these negative reviews. I can tell that our experience with company was pretty good. Sales rep walked our neighborhood just handing out flyers and there was no initial push or bother. I called in John (he was the quy i got flyer from) later on, that we are ready to hear his proposal. We knew we did not want to put anything down and make our payments lower than our current bill. We have one electric car, so that pushed the bill a bit higher than before. My husband gave John a no easy sell, him being a sales guy himself. That guy was tremendously patient i tell you. I must say we still think we got a pretty good deal. ( of course i am very curious about end of year bill from sdge) we chose to go a bit over the top with number of panels installed just to be sure (electric car, hydroponics and such) Instal of panels started three weeks or so after we signed contract. I must say, that the crew always! Showed up on time and their work was excelent. I wish every contractor worked this well and clen as well. They replaced all broken tiles on the roof. Electric panel had to be changed, and it was done perfectly. Everything was quickly repaired. Also, yes, it took 6 months to get the power up and running, but in all honesty, 90% of wait time was due to electric company and city inspectors. (Just example - we had to wait almost 2 months just for the sdge inspector to come look at the panel, say that it has to be upgraded, and that ues it can be in the same place. Two months!) Bit, everytime those parties gave us another go, Verengo crew was ready to work within a week. I am giving 4 stars only because our first project manager was very very sloppy . I had to call and stay on top of things. Eventually I requested someone else. Manda was way way better. Communication was flowing again. So, i hope this review will be somewhat helpful. read more

They came to Fresno. They sub-contracted out. It was a see -saw of events until they set up shop in Fresno. I cussed a lot at first, but then they came through in time for summer. Got my first electricity bill this month and everything is falling in place. Plan to save $800 - 1000 over the summer on electricity. On top of this, if you get someone else to get the deal, you get $500 cash. If it would have worked better in the beginning I would give 5 stars. Verengo solar just like any big business the salesman tells you something different what what it really is, the guy told us a setup would cost about 10-15 grand then we get a consultation and he tells us some where around 25 grand. The last gentleman was professional about it since my power company didn't offer any rebates it didn't make sense for me to get it so I opted not to because by the time you pay off the equipment in 20 years it might be outdated and that's about the time you break even so no. The company is not trust worthy. Their rep said the solar panels were free to us due to government incentives. The contract was just standard stuff to get the permission to change over our electricity from Edison to them. They failed to think we would read the contract which the sales rep said he had never even read.. Just legal blah blah blah, but we did read it to find the HIDDEN $69,000 buy out at the end of the twenty year contract. If we were to sell the house, they would be entitled to $69,000 for the solar panels. Calculating the savings we would have made over the 20 yrs, we would have owed $69,000 and in the little savings we would have gained each month would not have been worth it. If you go verengo, you will pay them for your electricity, and pay them for the panels. Scam comes to mind. Read the fine print folks. If it sounds to good to be true, it is. Had a Verengo rep come to the house and spend an hour analyzing old PG&E bills, reviewing satellite pics, etc., and offered me what I thought was a great deal to prepay 20 years of electric. Asked for the contract which was sent. There are terms in their contract that state "if system does not generate the energy expected, you may terminate the contract" but it doesn't specify if you get some, any or all of your money back. I asked for that to be clarified and was referred to their Solar Finance Co. No one responded to two calls. So I sent a note (attached) to Randy Bishop, Verengo's CEO who sent me a "Please let me know how I can help you" email. I've written him twice. I've written the salesperson twice. No response. I don't think Verengo wants you to look under the hood. Please save yourself the headache and go find someone better. I was most interested in prepaying 20 years of service, having Verengo manage the solar system and take advantage of a reduction in my PGE bill. My confusion and concern comes from: 1. No one has been able to clearly articulate to me how much my PG&E electric bill should be reduced. You've quoted power generation of approx 6800 Kwhs but I don't know how that translates to my monthly bill or from where that number was generated. 2. There are terms in the contract from Solar Power Finance that are unclear. And, finally, with whom will i ultimately be doing business? Who will be my customer service provider? How do I reach them? I need these issues worked out before I pay $13,000 for solar power. I wish there was an option for no stars!!! Such a dishonest company!! Had these put on our house 3 years ago and wish I could rip them off! Had them installed shortly after purchasing our home so they did not properly evaluate our home. Stuck with enough panels to power ONE appliance! Contacted the company several times and their reply is that they are generating what they promised. What I Was told and what I was sold were two different outcomes.I was told I would save about 1500 a year ,what I got was about 300 extra a year from Sunrun and SCE.And that will go up every couple of years.READ YOUR CONTRACT VERY CLOSLEY and don't believe any thing you are told only what is in black and white,be afraid of the grey.The first 11months will seem great like you made a great choice,then comes the 12th month and Sunrun and /SCE want a true up on power used and generated.For me about 2500 dollars so much for my small monthly bills sorry to the friends I sent to them. read more

Stay far away. These guys are like used car salesman. The deal they come up with for you will be so good it will need a Senior Vice President to sign off on.
