We went in to upgrade our phones. When we received the bill--it showed that I bought an additional phone and added an additional line to it. That was not the case. He was having a negative experience trying to work out a deal with possibly argumentative shoppers, and decided to take it out on the rest of the store. When I opened yelp and google to leave a review, I noticed many reviews mentioning "Manny". When we asked the man being disrespectful and berating customers if his name was Manny, he said yes. Then when we got to the point where they could have sent the phone to the store they said that the system was acting up and they would call me back... My phone bill was 167.40 per month... I marched my ass down to T-Mobile and they gave me a brand new iPhone 16 pro AND MY PHONE BILL WENT DOWN almost $100.00 per month! I asked Theo before he hung up on me why Verizon is so much more expensive than T-MOBILE and he said because of our service.....I told him that was laughable... To whom it may concern in Verizon Corp: I am a Chicago Landlord that had a tenant pass away leaving Verizon WiFi equipment. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I tried to do the "right thing" and return the equipment to your 2707 N Elston store.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Upon arrival three of your do nothing employees greeted me and I asked where I could drop off the equipment. I explained the passing of the tenant and stated the purpose of my visit. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They informed me that I had to UPS the equipment back to Verizon.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] That's said I informed them I was only going to drop it off at their store and they could contact UPS or dispose of the equipment in the garbage. They instructed me to "throw it in the garbage". So I did as I was told and dispose of the equipment in garbage can outside the store. If I could give this Verizon store 0 stars I would. The staff at this Verizon are the most un-helpful customer service representatives I have ever interacted with. As a woman, I was talked over, talked down to, & mansplained to the max. All I wanted to do was begin a service and I was in there for 3 hours. 3 hours. I was instructed to call roughly 13 different Verizon reps and left to myself to navigate the process. This is by far the worst customer experience encounter I have ever had. If you're a young woman especially, I could not stress enough to avoid this Verizon branch. If you're looking for a Verizon branch in Chicago, I highly recommend the one on Milwaukee in Wicker Park. I received incorrect info and they had the nerve to act as if they were saving me time. It was clear to me that they are measured based on their ability to turn a client into another device purchaser even though all I needed to do was add this micro sim to my account. This is definitely my new go-to Verizon store. I've been here just twice in the last month (ordered a new Iphone 13 via phone). Both times, customer service was immediate, attentive and friendly. Sadly, I don't remember the name of the first woman from whom I picked up my phone (attractive African American). I came in a second time because Verizon corporate did not send me a box to return my old phone. Immediately upon approaching the store, the police officer/security guard, Jorge opened the door for me and greeted me with a sincere "good morning". I wasn't in the store for 10 seconds before being approached by the charming, smiling and attentive manager, Diana. She answered all my questions, provided me with the box and instructions to return the phone and even took the time to show me how to use the strap on my new Apple watch. In my opinion, she is the epitome of above and beyond customer service. I've been a Verizon customer for 25 years. This was easily the best experience I have ever had with Verizon. First and foremost, these workers get into a lot of heated conversations at the store and they do a great job of talking people off a cliff. So, before I go on, I'll give them that. My experience was insane. I ordered a phone online, picked it up in store, had it for four days and decided I didn't like it, so I wanted to return it. Chat support told me to go to the store, so I did, but the store I got it from (an authorized retailer), said I had to go to a corporate store. I called Verizon and they verified I can go to a corporate store and return it, so i made an appointment there. I got to this store and I was told I had to mail it in and they wouldn't take my return. Today I spent $50-65 in Uber trips while each Verizon place gave me a different excuse. Overall, this store couldn't do anything for me other than to provide excuses for why they can't help. read more

This verizon rendered my phone inoperable and when I left the store, and sought help elsewhere, we discovered that the verizon people had neglected to replace my Sim card. No one at this verizon store made a move to call Verizon on the phone to ask for help. No one seemed concerned that my phone had been ruined, but were more interested in placing blame. My phone is a verizon phone. Thank god I found someone who knew what they were doing at another place who fixed my issue. Yeah! It was fixable! They told me it wasn't! -- Some people have genuine knowledgeability, and other people work at places with verizon on the sign on the building. I was in target across the street running errands with my newborn baby. when my phone signal was loss and my phone said SOS. He asked for my number then asked for my ID but I did not have my id physically (left at home) I had a picture he told me he couldn't take that because of his manager and stated "would you like to talk to her "maybe she can help" insinuating something can be done. Extremely rude Tone "I'm sorry there's nothing we can do for you you need your id because there has been digital fraud going on" she walks away. I go in my car come back out to her (because I know my rights as a customer to this company for over a year) and ask her to find me the nearest Verizon by my house so when I get my id I can just go because I have no gps since my phone is saying SOS. Employee told me a product was under one year warranty. When it stopped functioning a few months later, I took it back and a different employee told me it was a lie, the warranty. No explanation, no apology, just that I was deceived to make the sale. Have been with Verizon for a number of years but this experience will make me consider AT&T again, kind of left me dumbfounded. Terrible location engaging in illegal activities. They engage in false advertising promoting old sales and then at checkout they try to bait and switch you and say that the promotion isn't valid anymore. Why do you have the promotion material up everywhere still? Why are your employees still promoting these promotions? Why don't the promotions have expiration dates on them? I checked other verizon stores in the area to see if this was a corporate thing or just this location, and it seems like it's just this location. None of the other locations had the old promotion cards out and the employees told me right away which promotions were currently valid. I then called Verizon corporate and they told me that it would be illegal to advertise old promotions and then not accept them. It's not a fluke this location has the lowest rating of any Verizon in the area. Stay away! read more

Slow, slow and slow Overall, Verizon is a poorly run company with very bad customer service. They say they care about their customers but they do not. Be careful. They have a number of misinformed employees who will give you incorrect information about the costs of services and product. You will then get your bill which will be much higher than you were quoted. Verizon will not honor the rate you were quoted. They will blame you for their incompetence and tell you that you are not being truthful. Word to the wise..... Either shoot a video of their employees telling you the costs or just go to a different company for cell service. read more

The manager at this location leaves much to be desired. Lack of awareness and management of customer queue. No apologies or attempt at recovery as she left my wife and I to wait an unnecessary amount of time. She "acknowledged" us without eye contact upon entering stating "someone will be right with you". As we looked at the phone, assuming we were checked into some sort of queue as EVERY OTHER Verizon store we have visited has, she began helping a customer who came in almost 10 minutes after us. Not wanting to rudely interrupt the transaction of another customer, we patiently, albeit frustrated, waited as another customer came in. She again acknowledged that "Someone would be right with you". My wife then interjected inquiring if we could be "added to the queue as we have been waiting for awhile". The manager responded, claiming, "I thought someone was helping you" as she clearly saw all her associates already with customers that they have been with since we entered the store. I would love to refer to her by name but her lack of a name tag(all her associates were wearing them) reflected her lack of detail, care, and teamwork. As a Verizon customer for well over a decade, it disgusts me that she is representative of what management material at a Verizon store is deemed as acceptable. Erick, the associate who ended up helping us, was fast, apologetic and efficient. He deserves a better leader than the one running this store. read more

My husband had the worst and most unprofessional experience with the manager Yvette at Verizon 2707 N Elston. He was a victim of identity theft and came to the store to return phones that were fraudulent orders. When the manager called the fraud department she had placed the call on speaker phone. The rep was asking for sensitive info including DOB and SS#. The manager would not let him walk away to discuss privately or place the call off speaker phone. She had no regard for someone who just had their identity stolen and wanted him to give sensitive info on speaker. She then gave him a number to call and quickly walked off to another customer. When I called the number she gave the automated voicemail reported you have dialed a number not available through the area. So He ended asking another employee for help, in which she quickly stopped what she was doing to go up to the employee that he was to be on break. He told her that He is only asking to verify the number and called the number she gave on speaker for her to hear the automated voicemail. She was completely deliberate in not helping him or having other employees help. She gave him another number in which the queue ended up being 28min. All He wanted was verification that the accounts were closed and that the store had the phones. She reported she could not give him a paper copy and said it would be emailed and could take up to 24 hrs. When he finally got through to the rep, he was able to add additional notes that weren't on file and sent him an email verifying that the accounts were closed. Right away not 24 hrs later. This was the most deliberate and unprofessional behavior from a manager! Spent 2 hours there when this could have been completed in 20 min when the first call was made. She was never apologetic. She also spent a considerable amount of time talking about how fraud happens from public Wi-Fi's and how fraudsters would send you prepaid packages from Verizon with letters stating that you have been mistakenly sent these phones and to mail them back. She talked about she has seen this happen 3X in her work suggesting that Verizon has identity theft problems recently. There was no place for these type of conversations. read more

Came here because my phone was being weird and I wanted to ask about my options. Upon entering I was greeted kindly and was told someone would be with me soon. Then, the same guy came over and put me on the waiting list with my name. A few minutes later someone different came to help me out. He seemed to be having a bad day and was a little annoyed. Not many follow up questions were asked to my phone issues. A few minutes went by while he was playing with his phone to kill time that the slow computer was taking to be 'unlocked'. He finally gave up and took me to a different computer only to tell me I didn't really have any options. He took me over to the external batteries and told me that's what I needed. Ok, sure. I suppose that might fix the problem, so that's great. A little more kindness and a bit of personality would have gone a long way from my customer service representative. read more

I was mugged at gunpoint last night. I made arraignments with Verizon over the phone so that I could pick up my phone and resume work today. I went to the store, explained the situation and was directed to the manager. Considering how easy it was to work with customer service I figured this would be pretty cut and dry. I was quite wrong in that assumption. In short, the manager--Eddie--was incredibly rude and borderline criminal in his actions. Even though I had prepaid for the phone and there were notes in the Verizon system that I had already been billed for a new phone, Eddie insisted that I pay the full retail price again. I called customer service and explained to them what was happening. Horrified, they realized that the best course of action was to simply mail me the phone. Please, please, please avoid. read more

I have been a Verizon customer for 20 years. Recently, they "upsold" me to a MyFi device. I had nothing but problems with it; it broke down three times in six months. When I tried to get resolution, they parrotted the same line: "We have options to help you. You can call tech support..." I told them that I had done that THREE TIMES and obviously, the device was not ready for prime time. They cancelled it --after charging a $140 cancellation fee to my account! In essence, they sacrificed a 20-year business relationship because of $140!!! Are they THAT cash-poor? Needless to say, I am a very angry and disgruntled customer. You can tell there's an all-out war among the phone companies. My partner wanted to get a new phone, likely an Android smartphone. We went in with that in mind, not wanting to spend more than $100 out the door and around that price point per month with a modest data plan. When we went in we braced ourselves for the hard sell which inevitably came in the form of a very cheerful woman who apparently ignored everything we asked for after she asked what we wanted. She directed us to the Great Wall of LTE phones: none less than $200 under the guise of "checking out the on-screen keyboards." Mind you there were literally two dozen phones to choose from in this huge store, including the iPhone which she oddly didn't push. When she left, we took a stroll around the store and found some phones that matched our needs. But we were quickly soured by the nearly $120/month bill PLUS the $100 to get out the door for even a basic plan for one of those phones. No thanks. read more

I've gotten two phones from this location. Just over two years ago I picked up an iPhone 6. I had some issues with the phone but I was able to get everything taken care of. Fast forward two years to when I was up for my renewal... I had my heart set on the Pixel. The sales rep kept steering me towards an iPhone and I couldn't figure out why. I ended up leaving so I could do more research and possibly go to a different Verizon store. Turns out that the Pixels just simply aren't in stock anywhere besides the Google Play store. Fair enough. I decided to go back and pick up an iPhone. When I went back and said I was ready to purchase an iPhone, the sales rep said he'd check to see what he had in stock. He came back with a handwritten sheet with all of the different Android phones that were on sale and all of the promos for a tablet. I wasn't interested in any of this but while he was pulling up these figures I stumbled upon the newer LG V20 and decided that I'd spring for this one instead (since having a headphone jack is important for me). He's pulling the phone out and getting it set up. Meanwhile he pulls out all of these accessories and starts asking me to pick out a case and a charger. I asked if this stuff came with the phone and his response was that it was a bundle. I asked again, this time being clear, "So, does this come with the phone?" And he responded that it's extra. Getting a little irritated by the constant upsell and ignoring my wishes, I just told him that I didn't want anything extra, just the phone. As we're activating the phone, he starts pushing me on the insurance and all of these other upsells. Finally, just to not deal with it any longer, I agreed to the monthly insurance. He assured me that I could cancel it at any point (we'll see). At the counter he mentions that the phone is actually $50 off. He never mentioned this prior, but okay, I'll take it. Meanwhile, as we're checking out, his colleague is ordering a Pixel XL for himself. Pretty tacky that they can't get these in the store for customers, but some of them are ordering this phone for themselves. Finally, I was able to leave the store with the phone I wanted. Later at home while I was looking the phone up online just to see how it holds up to the Pixel and iPhone, I come across a notice saying that this phone comes with a $200 gift card if purchased from Verizon during January. The guy never mentioned this at any point. I was able to apply for the gift card/rebate through the LG website so I'm hoping it goes through eventually. read more

Unfortunately I wasn't able to purchase a phone at that time and went back last night to pick up my phone without issues, or so I thought. Johnathan had just left for the night and I wish I would have gotten him again instead of the guy who tried to sell me. A little background on the situation is basically Verizon customer service promised me yesterday was the day I could get a new phone without experiencing any issues (we recently had to switch my account over to a family member in order to keep our discount which cleared 13 solid years of clean payment history on my part). So I walk in and of course the issue isn't cleared up like I'd been promised even though there are notes in the system backing up the reason I'm there) Instead of offering a little empathy and understanding, these guys were total toolbags, including the supervisor who told me to hang on to my current phone even though I've waited 6 months to take advantage of my upgrade. I wanted the new phone to take to NYC this weekend in order to use a better camera then my current phone has. There was no willingness to better assist me or any kind of customer service. I explained I've been a loyal Verizon customer for over 13 years and have spent thousands of dollars in that time, it didn't matter. I don't matter, my money doesn't matter, and this place sucks. Period. Take your business to people who treat you like you matter, even if they're just BS'ing you. I'll never go back to this location and I'm jumping ship to another provider after this garbage. read more

Worst Verizon store! I've been a Verizon customer for 11 years and unfortunately because of the service I received at this location I'm considering leaving Verizon all together. I went in to upgrade my phone yesterday and was told my plan (minutes, unlimited texts and 5gb) would all stay the exact same at the same price when I upgraded. The sales rep also told me I could trade in my old phone and get the iPad mini for $29! At first this seemed like a catch but upon asking him a ton of questions he guaranteed it would only be $29 because of the trade in credit. He said it would be an additional $10 a month for 5 more gb of data for the iPad. After he did the switch while still in the store I got a text from Verizon saying I've used 94% of my data for the month. The sales rep said because there was an upgrade mid month they had to prorate my data and to be careful not to go over for the next 5 days but promised next month if would be back to 5gb. Today I checked my bill online and he downgraded my plan from 5gb to 2gb and because of that now I've been charged $15 for an extra gb this month. He also put my iPad on a different plan so instead of the $10 be promised its a $30 a month charge!! I did not agree to any of these charges!! I called Verizon and was told the sales rep completely downgraded my account and setup my iPad wrong! Unfortunately because a data line was added they were unable to change my account back to what it was prior to the upgrade. I'm now stuck paying about $50 a month more until my plan is up in 2 years. Everyone is very nice and super helpful! Experience went extremely easy to change to Verizon! :)
