This meeting with Verizon went suspiciously well. If the worst thing that happens is I accidentally buy a dual charger I need to return, not a terrible thing at all. (Ignoring the fact I should've just checked what I was buying or paid better attention.) I knew it would be virtually empty due to the location as well as the fact it was hovering around 16 degrees outside. I went to the Verizon store in Union Square in NYC which needless to say was a hellish venture and my phone wasn't even activated correctly. Here I met with nice associate Eva who's kind demeanor faced with my insufferable sarcasm felt like I was beating up a newborn fawn and telling her Santa Claus does not exist. She showed me all the options and called and discussed everything with my mom who controls our plan to make sure nothing unwarranted occurred in our contract. She went over the receipt and got me an envelope to fill out so that sending in my rebate was relatively foolproof. Really the only way this could've gone better is if everything were free. I'm getting old and I don't like change! So when my cell phone that I liked broke ... Kudos to the friendly and helpful employees at this oddly located VZW store. Long story, short, my phone's case cracked so I went in just looking for some goodwill on a new phone, but I really really liked my old phone and didn't really want to upgrade. New phone wasn't on the plan right now, but the girl (am I old enough yet where I can call young women "girls" and get away with it?) did some magic on the computer and they had a 'refurbished" of the same model, literally like ten feet away for just a few bucks (I had priced them on ePay and VZW's price was the same) which included a 90 day warranty! A few minutes later (after playing with the Droid - cool!) I had my "new" phone. Now I want (but have no need for ...) a Droid. Put it on next month's bill so it even felt like I was getting a "free" phone! I know she didn't really do any "goodwill" in the traditional sense, but I had been dreading replacing ($$$) this phone and she made it oh so easy. The girl couldn't have been more helpful. I've been coming into this store for years and I have purchased many of my phones and devices here as well. While I think Verizon can be a bit more expensive I've always been happy with the customer service and I've always been pleased with the fact that when I ask for a reasonable refund they are happy to oblige. This does not apply to this store. I bought a mobile jetpack a few weeks ago from the online store. After it arrived I set it up and turned it on and it could barely download a thing. I tested it using a variety of diagnostic programs including Speedsmart and Speedtest and the little puck showed download speeds of .69 mbps. In contrast, tethered to my iPhone with the same number of bars in the same location of my house using the same test, download speeds were averaging around 26mbps. I spoke with a Verizon online chat rep and after several troubleshooting steps she told me to take the device in and get a new SIM card which I did. To this store. Sadly the new SIM didn't work and the device was faulty. I informed them that I simply wanted to return it which they seemed fine with only they were going to charge me a $35 restocking fee. I argued that the device is faulty why should I pay for a restocking fee and they told me it was because they offered me a new device but I declined. I explained, foolishly I now realize, that I've been a loyal customer for years and I spend a lot of money monthly on their services. They all shrugged. The experience was sort of like biting into a rancid steak at a restaurant and sending it back. They offer you a new one but the experience has been a little spoiled and you're no longer in the mood for steak anymore. Then they deliver the bill which includes the reduced price for the steak because, well, you refused the new steak they offered. This wouldn't be so bad if one of the people delivering the bill and shrugging off the customer loyalty wasn't the GM Flora. So this experience is so contradictory to what I have experienced with Verizon that I will not return to this store ever again and if I find that more of the stores are like this I will begin the search for a new carrier. One last note....the online rep refunded the activation fee at my request because she agreed, if it didn't work then why should I be charged. read more

Great experience today - Manny and (Steve?) helped me. During COVID you need an appointment, but their next appt. wasn't there yet and they spent time with me with a very difficult issue I couldn't figure out on my phone. When Manny got close but needed another pair of eyes, he didn't just say "sorry," - He asked his associate for assistance and together they were able to solve the problem. This is the kind of service that makes people want to return. I didn't go in to buy a pricey phone or plan, just asked for assistance with a problem -- Extremely helpful and patient. Best mobile store experience ever. I had been here before with my husband who likes buying all the modern mobile equipment. I was again stumped about something and thought I'd ask for advice as long as I was there. Again, one of the associates was pleased to help me. He made a call to Verizon to get it handled. Ok ... hear me out .. I walked into this Verizon to get the new iPhone 8 was super excited .. I picked out my phone .. everything Great so far .. got some bad news about data transfer from old phone to new phone .. my attitude and tone completely changed after the news .. enter ABBY .. truly one of the greatest managerial experiences I've ever had ! She walked me through everything in such a professional manner , I forgot why I was upset in the first place ! Eric ..thank you also ...Verizon.. if there is a litmus test on how mangers and employees should help their customers ABBY and ERIC are the ones... Truly assets to your company ! ABBY .. thanks for putting up with my horrible attitude from the start and Turning the experience into something very positive ! My wife was basically tricked by the salesman at this store into buying equipment she did not at all need, resulting in our being un-grandfathered from unlimited data plans. This was done in a drug- deal type manner. I intend to spread the word on this both to protect others from this fate and in the unlikely event of getting our old plan reinstated. They even refused to take back the hot spot thingy without a $35 restocking charge. Very clever of them, but...Next expose will include the salesman's name...Be careful, very careful, at this verizon, maybe all verizon stores. read more

Really wonderful experience here! Needed to upgrade my phone (from a 4s yikes) and got an awesome deal on an iPhone 7, plus switched back to Verizon. Highly recommend working with Christian, he laid out all the possible options and was incredibly friendly, professional and efficient! I always dread anything that involves my phone and was anticipating the typical uphill battle with Verizon; but Stevie was a saving grace! She was extremely efficient, educational, and beyond helpful. Coming from a sales background myself, I recognized her upsell, but never felt pressured to purchase/change anything I wasn't comfortable doing that day. Ultimately, she presented all the options available and compared them with my needs/usage. By far, she's the BEST Verizon experience I've had to date. Without such a stellar sales associate, Verizon call-centers would likely be receiving frustrated calls from this customer. While I cannot speak for the other sales reps, Stevie was beyond fantastic! (Plus she had Star Wars earrings) To the management: seriously promote her or give her a raise! You have a secret Jedi sales weapon!! The one downfall as stock! My girlfriend and I went in to replace her phone as she has been using a second hand flip phone since July, and which just stopped working. The store employees were almost exclusively rude to us from start to finish. We received smug comments on each product we attempted to buy. We were treated like arrogant snobs for trying to buy a phone... at a phone store. At every turn the employees shared their unsolicited opinions. The experience was frustrating and the staff was plainly, unapologetically rude to us and one another. The norms such as taking care of our new phone, and quick service was nice. read more

I yet again went to this location for help with a malfunctioning phone that I received from Verizon on Wednesday in mail. I just wanted to exchange the phone that Verizon sent me 3 days ago for one that works. Because of the balance on my phone they couldn't do it. Now Verizon sent me a new phone but this location cannot exchange it. Absolutely unbelievable that they won't exchange the phone. I returned home called Verizon and they are exchanging the phone. Every single time I have been to this location I receive sub par service and/or just plan bad service. Why is it easier to deal with some on the phone then in person. Love this store!! To start, it was my mistake purchasing a Verizon phone at another location closer to my office. I was concerned about how the phone was working and returned to the store in the suburbs. Big mistake as that store treated me horribly!! On my way home, I remembered this location. I stopped in the store to ask some questions and learn more about my new phone. Awesome customer service at this location!! As I was discussing my concerns with the phone, they quickly informed me that the phone was not working properly ... possibly due to the software not loaded properly on the phone. As I did not have all my original materials, and the store was closing, they gave me a few tips to try that night. The next day, I was still having issues (dropping calls where I normally had no issues as well as Bluetooth connection problems ... I'm a 6 year Verizon customer) so I stopped back at the store. They quickly exchanged the phone and also worked with me to make sure I understood how to use the phone. Going forward, this is the only store I will shop at because, by far, they have given me the best customer service in the Chicagoland area!!! Thank you!!! read more

This is the worst Verizon branch ever. I would have given them a zero if I could. My husband and I went in to inquire about plan options. We were greeted by Sarah. She kept swaying side to side which made me feel dizzy and it was very difficult to look at her. Plus she kept chewing gum while talking to us. Very unprofessional. I told here I was looking into plan options. Before I could ask her something, she told me she could give me a number I can call for the information about the plans. I don't get the point of having to call someone when I was already there. So I asked her if she knows anything about their plans? Annoyed, she started chewing more loudly on her gum. Only then did she went into my account to find out what I have. She told me that I will not be able to have an unlimited data if I open a new account. Without even trying to help us figure out a better option for us. By this time she was acting like we were a nuisance to her. Obviously she is not there to help us at all. She didn't even care when I told her I'll just switch to Sprint. Well, Sprint has a better phone plan for us and was very accommodating when we were at their store. read more

By far one of the absolute worst Verizon locations I have visited. The only reason I have chose this location several times in the past is because of the convenience to my place of employment and home.To spare the details of my smart-phone woes, I have been having issues with my iPhone and decided to take it into a store to have them investigate further. The representative that greeted me at the door and tried to resolve the issue was great - this rep was unsure of the issue and went to a manager for advice. This manager came over and went through the same exact motions that the initial rep had done and looked into every possible solution that had already been tried. I am not a technology whiz, but I am pretty well-versed in Apple products. This "manager" was extremely condescending to me. He basically told me I was wrong and needed to better manage my data and general phone maintenance instead of providing any solution to my initial issue I came with into this store. He then tried to sell me on a different data plan and continued to lecture me on data management and different plans that would "make more sense." Some people do not understand that that is not a viable option in terms of finances for some people. Wish I would have caught this person's name because, in my opinion, he is entirely unfit to be in a manager position (for apparently nine years he'd boasted; experience or not, someone in a high position should have at least gained the experience of good customer service (i.e. not being so goddamn rude.) Very much considering changing carriers because of the consistently poor customer service Verizon provides. read more

Terrible customer service! I brought my iPhone 4S in today because it was having a problem syncing. The manager told me I needed to upgrade. I told him I didn't want to at this point and he said, "You don't know anything about technology." Why? Because I don't want to upgrade right now. I have something to say about the Verizon Store at 2707 N. Elston Ave in Chicago. The Service People are absolutely FANTASTIC. My husband and I started out at 5 pm in the evening trying to BUY a new phone to replace the faulty one I had. We went to 2 Verizon stores and the help that we got from them was very minimal. I wanted a Galaxy Note 3. The Elston store reportedly had 3, and it was 7:24 pm. I called to ask Jose, (the Manager) to hold the phone for me because we would buy it. We got to the store at 7:50 pm. They close at 8 pm. With the help of Kristine and Jose, I got a new Galaxy Note 3 and some great deals. They are the only one that took into consideration that we were with Verizon for 15 years and we have bee great with our billing. Thank you sooooo MUCH for all your Help!. I visited this store to upgrade my phone. The customer-service reps were helpful and courteous; I worked mostly with James, who patiently devoted a lot of time to ironing out an issue with my Verizon account. The night after I left the store, I realized my new phone had a call-quality issue and my new case didn't allow the charger to connect properly. I brought the phone back the next morning and got both the handset and the case swapped out in a matter of minutes. No hassle, no hard sell. Happy with the experience. read more

Normaly I have been pretty happy with verzon till today when my wifes 59 day old LG Ally died. After waiting for 20 minutes so someone could help me to my surprise all they could tell me is sorry no phones in stock, 2 DAYS BEFORE I WOULD GET ONE.. The worse part was the managers attitude. The guy who "helped" me was pretty skeezy - gave me inaccurate information (luckily, I called Verizon to verify) and pushed plans and products, suggesting I take the money I "saved" on my new plan to buy accessories (and saying that if I didn't, I should feel guilty). Watch out for the phone "leasing" program (pay by month). After calling Verizon, it wasn't as great as promised. Plus... Parking is TERRIBLE. read more
