Food is OK until I found a literally fly in the salad of my wrap. I messaged them in facebook regarding this along with a picture of the fly on the wrap and got no response back. I definitely won't be recommending this place unless if they're okay with the possible bug in their food. read more

ordered a gyro and grape leaves (they weren't listed as Dolmades). gyro was just okay. half the meat was a little too dry and crisp. not much tzatziki sauce on the gyro so it was not the best. it was only $8 so that was a bonus. now the grape leaves. so they are served hot with marinara sauce. always had dolmades cold with tzatziki sauce so i was bewildered. wow were they good. not real full but the flavor mixed with the marinara sauce was really good. probably will be back just not for a gyro read more

We go every weekend. Staff is great and the entrees are unique and awesome. Waiters are pleasant and remember our favorite entrees.

my elderly dad was visiting and I specifically asked for a plate with no spicy in it. got some sorta rice and chicken with a lot of buffalo sauce. it messed his stomach for days and when I picked up they were giggling at us while delivering the order. this happened four months ago. Well you can't usually go wrong with pizza, butttt I must say this wasn't the best pizza I've ever had. I ordered a 16" thin crust pizza. The ordering process over the phone was friendly enough and the pizza arrived in the expected amount of time. However... when I picked up my first slice of pizza alllll of the cheese (and toppings) slid right of the crust so not ideal in a good pizza. Additionally I wasn't blown away by the taste (it wasn't very cheesy? As one expects from a pizza?) All in all I would probably order my pizza from somewhere else next time. read more

Called and order food to be delivered. It took about 30 minuTes for it to to arrive but once our food was there, we were not impressed. We ordered steak and cheese subs and cheese fries. The sub rolls were over baked and had no flavor even though we got the works on it, and the cheese fries were so crispy that they were half burnt. We was very dIsappointed in how our food turned out, it wasn't worth the money we spent on it. Since this place has changed hands, the food is terrible and over priced. We will not bee ordering food from there again There are better place in the area with better food and well worth the money. read more

doesn't look like much on the outside but it's in my route and I am so glad I stopped here. stuffed grape leaves and calzones are delicious . kids like the tenders and pizza. customer service is really great - and I don't mind stopping for a quick bite or sitting for a great glass of wine. read more

First time here and I enjoyed it very much. My friends and I spent the whole day tubing, and this was the best ending to such a great day. The pizza was delish and the waitress was very friendly. Fyi, they have really good mozzarella sticks...like they're really good. That's all I can say since I've only been once. But it was a great experience and would love to visit again. read more

Great home town pizza joint. I grew up on James Gang and am admittedly biased. The pizzas are equal amounts cheese and sauce. The crust is cooked well enough to hold all toppings. Just plain old good pizza. read more

We ordered two 12' thin pizzas for delivery. They were almost inedible - there was way too much sauce for the crust, and the crust was soggy and undercooked. When you picked up a slice, the entire top of the pizza slid off the limp sloppy crust. I picked the cheese off of mine, wiped off half the sauce, and ate it with the outside edge of the crust (the only part of the pizza that was cooked). My husband stormed out of the house and drove to town to get himself a meal he could actually eat. We will never, never order from Verona again. Very disappointed. read more

Went to James Gang Pizza 1st time with new owners. Had the lasagna which was my favorite with old owners. This was great, I am very picky about lasagna so didn't know what to expect. I gave it a 5 because I couldn't pick between both old and new. My daughter had pizza and fries, she said fries were good, crispy on the outside and soft on inside. She said her pizza was very good and did not need the extra cheese. Forgot about the bread that goes with lasagna, exactly the same. Great, will be back. read more

We ordered three pizzas from here, the Hawaiian, vegetarian and a simple cheese pizza for the kids. We were not impressed at all with the pizza. The cheese on all of the pizza wasnt fully cooked. There was too much ham on the Hawaiian. There were barely any vegetables in the vegetarian. We were very let down. read more

I think the subs, and pasta dishes are average. The pizza preparation is different as they put the "toppings" under the cheese. They are great for groups, families, or delivering a post game or performance gathering. read more

It is not a restaurant where you must dress up, or a place where anyone might feel uncomfortable. It is a homey easy going place that sometimes is filled with teens, or families, or just adults, and that's ok! The pizza here is really good, but our favorite is the chicken calzone. Fabulous. Served with enough sauce on the side to really dive in and enjoy. James Gang is a middletown staple. We would order delivery but alas we are half a block out of their cut off zone! This is our go-to place when we visit Gladhill Furniture once a year. My impression this time was a bit poorer than last year's. One waitress was waiting about six tables. There was one longish wait, but the service was acceptable and friendly. I started with an appetizer salad. I shouldn't have bothered. It was a heap of wilting, soggy, and slightly pink iceberg lettuce with a few bits of carrots and radishes (clearly bagged salad from Costco on its last day) and two wedges of tomato. A package of Ken's dressing comes on the side. I left most of it untouched, but the waitress made no comment when she carted it away. The fries were slightly overdone but were hot and had a nice taste. My wife really liked her eggplant parmesan. We got the cheese pizza (with about 5 cheeses on it). While the sauce and crust were OK, the gooey cheese was delicious - helped by the more unusual swiss and american cheese mixed in. read more

When we first moved to Middletown my wife and I always joked about James Gang. We called it "Restaurant" as the generic electric sign above the store front says. Since then, we have enjoyed the food from "Restaurant" many times. "Restaurant" has the benefit of being one of only a handful of restaurants within Middletown proper. The only downside is the fair. It's about what you would expect at an Italian "Restaurant." I've yet to find anything earth shattering from them that makes me want to visit "Restaurant" more often than when the occasional Italian bug bites me. Still, they do one thing exceedingly well. Pizza. Fairly priced, and well seasoned. My kids enjoy it too, making it a nice go-to place when I need to feed them or visiting family members. Given the propensity of Italian restaurants to favor "familia," I'm happy to call James Gang Pizzeria my local Italian "Restaurant." read more

I add mushroom to the white pizza and it's my second favorite pizza in the county. They now have a very large large screen TV. Lunch service is always slow, but so are the other spots; it's a lazy kinda town and that's fine with me! They do a lot of take out business. The antipasta salad is a big hit with my family as are the cheesy fries! read more

Good pizza, apps are good....service both for dine in and carryout is poor. Lack of urgency, caring or appreciation. Also, check your carry out order. The last time they forgot my wings and the time before that they severely overcooked a medium rare burger, could have played hockey with it. read more
