Confession: I HATE grocery shopping. This is especially unfortunate as I just LOVE to eat. In this area we have access to some pretty great farm stands- nothing better than stopping on the way home from work with tummy growling and picking up whatever is in high season-right now it's corn, tomatoes, peaches- all of which are in abundance at Verrill. Ordered a cake for my son's birthday party. It was a mousse cake - chocolate cake with raspberry mousse filling and chocolate buttercream frosting. Ordering was pretty easy. Our theme was a pool party and they decorated the cake a bit with that theme. Nothing very fancy. The cake tasted good. Everyone asked for seconds. It was fresh and soft and not too sweet. My husband who isn't the biggest fan of chocolate cakes liked it too! Will definitely order from here again. read more

Like so many others, I was devastated when Verrill Farm burned down awhile back, and was so glad when they said they would rebuild. Unfortunately, I feel that the new store is a bit on the sterile side, and the times I have gone there, I wasn't all that impressed with the selection of items. But the people are great out there, the setting is beautiful, and the ride itself makes it worth the trip. Perhaps I will grow to like the new place a bit more over the coming months, especially as they get new items in as the weather gets warmer. read more

I love this place, but the prices keep from getting a 5th star. They are what you expect Whole Foods to be, except actually delivering on good produce. I've had their chicken pot pie previously from retail and love it. They have lots of good looking prepared foods and frozen treats. They sell Capone's paste (at a large markup) which is a favorite of mine. If you can afford it and want good food, this is a place to shop. But if you have any kind of a budget, try some of the other farm stands. read more

The farm looks large, but the store is not huge (Wilson's is about 4-5 times the size). But, a good selection that looked fresh. The signs clearly pointed out what was grown on their farm. I picked up some very good looking asparagus that I'm looking forward to having this week. read more

Although Verrill has great produce and groceries, their pies are the highlight. Don't miss 'em. The festivals (strawberry, blueberry, and the tomato & corn) are also a lot of fun, especially for kids. read more

This is one of my new favorite places. I was first introduced to Verill Farm during a work lunch. I was quite fascinated that having grown up so close to Concord, I wasn't aware that this farm stand and small unique grocery store even existed. The produce is bright and fresh, with many items local. They have a nice selection of cheeses, prepared salads, baked goods and their own brand bottled sodas. They also carry Nashoba Brook Bakery fresh breads which is from another local Concord store. I would recommend, as I just did today, stopping by Verill Farm if you are on your way to Walden pond for an afternoon of swimming and lazing by the water. Bread and cheese from here is all you need to make that day complete. read more

I want to love this place - I've been going there for decades! With it's new "fancy build up" since the fire, I find it both lacking in character and lacking in general quality of produce. Corn and tomatoes in season are great - much of the rest of the produce is lackluster. The bakery goods are wonderful. They have large refrigerators of prepared food (which in season features their own veggies) which is a good option on a night you don't want to cook or go out. Pricey though. For local great produce, we prefer Brigham Farms, just around the corner on Route 117 that is still a farm stand. I see Verrill as trying to be a Wilson's Farm or Idyllwild Farm wanna be - but they just don't compare for quality of produce or overall inventory. read more

Great Heirloom Tomatoes and Corn, nice new stand, BUT, the way they have the store set up is CRAZY. Just a few customers on a weekday morning can cause a log jam. Blueberry/Lemon Scones are delicious! Great bakery, specialty foods, prepped refrigerated foods, fresh produce and some plants. Equally fun to pick strawberries in their fields, or enter one of their pie baking contests, gingerbread house contests and other contests throughout the year. Very friendly staff and plentiful community events. read more

Ok - I am a little light headed. My mind has just experienced a new level of joy. Some chase the dragon. Some streak. Today, for me...the blueberry pie from this magical culinary sanctuary. Just moved to the area and was hoping to find a nice local farm with good selections. Everything here was incredibly overpriced! Dairy, Fruit, veggies. Everything. And things that are not local products are even more outrageously overpriced. $8 for Nutella?! Really? I'll withhold from giving it one star because I'll come back in the spring and have hopes that the things they do grow are actually particular. read more

As a young girl, I remember vividly picking strawberries in the fields of Verrill Farms, watching the cows milked, and the glass bottles of this milk which my parents bought. This is a wonderful place to bring children and see how we all ate off the land 40 years ago. Thank you to the Verrill Family for giving me these wonderful memories, living down the road from the stand, this was always a favorite place of mine. I hope to bring my children very soon. I cannot recommend the scones at Verrill Farm enough. They are light, fluffy, moist and absolutely delicious. The produce is great (and if you are looking to get some tomatoes, now is the time- they have them in colors I've never even seen), the sandwiches are nicely priced and freshly made and if they have the oat-fudge bars in the dessert section, buy a bunch and freeze them because you'll find yourself dreaming about their yumminess if you don't have 'em on hand! I've been working in the area for weeks and this is where I get my lunch. I have yet to be disappointed with anything or anyone (the staff is very kind and quite helpful). And it looks like the new building is almost done so with any luck, using the port-o-potty will be a thing of the past. read more

I rode at Verrill Farm Stables for 11 years. I got all of my equine experience there and am now pursuing a degree in Equine Management because of what they showed me at that bar. Everyone there is incredibly nice and the horses are amazing and well-rounded. When I used to ride there, we would walk down the the farmstand and get sandwiches and fruit. It's a great place and they're always having events and festivals there. read more

Most of the time the food is very good, sometimes excellent, and occasionally sub par. There is usually a variety of soups available in the cold case, and several cooked meals to choose from. The thing that bothers me is that sometimes somethings can go bad before their expiration date, or tastes way off from the way it usually does. When this happens, they are rather critical of you. Don't expect them to take it back, and hand you your money with a smile. I don't live close enough to jump in the car and drive right over, nor do I keep every receipt. BTW, their scones are the best around 90% of the time, the 10% is buying a flavor I've not had before and expecting too much..... but their texture is always wonderful. We usually get the cherry pie when they have it. Essentially, there are 2 sizes. (Somewhat recently they have started a real small one, good for 2 servings. Not all sizes are available at all times) The smaller of the two "regular" pies, is about 7 inches, and $12.95 compared to apple at $9.95. Most of the time we love it, but this time, it was flat (I swear it was 1.5 cherries deep), the cherries were pale, and the taste was such, that if I was blindfolded, I'm not sure I could have identified it as cherry pie. read more

After my first miserable visit to this place, I thought I would give it a second shot in the summer months. Mistake #2 (mistake number one was setting foot in this place the first time). They had an impressive variety of tomatoes in baskets out front. All different kinds I had never heard of. Hmm, pretty neat I thought. Upon checking out the tomatoes, I found the majority of them to be rotten and mushy. No lie. I was grossed out. Is there not a quality control person making sure the produce is not rotting? It was sitting out in the heat all day, even the most well dressed tomato is sure to become a hot mess in those conditions. Upon walking inside, I was greeted by 2 little bins of potatoes. With about 4 sad tiny potatoes left in each (russett and yukon gold). If I was feeding a midget baby perhaps my potato needs would have been fulfilled but this was not the case and I was unable to get the potatoes I needed for dinner that evening. I didnt want to make another stop so I looked for an premade side dish in their "famous prepared food case". Yet all I found was entire meals for one such as chicken, mashed potato and a vegetable in a container. If you are a wealthy single bachelor who weighs 99lbs, this would be your go to place. Yes the portions were small and overpriced. This entire place is so underwhelming, it downright pisses me off. Its like the owners just don't try. On the baked goods side (I was hoping to at least snag a dessert out of this place) there were empty baskets that held goodies (different types of cookies) earlier in the day. Again, quality control. If you don't have any left, remove the baskets, it just looks bad to have empty baskets sitting around, makes me think management is lazy and don't care too restock. I could go on and on but I have been disappointed enough with this place, I don't want to waste another minute thinking about it. Again, I will plug Wilson's Farm. Went there today and got all my shopping done including some AMAZING, plump, red and juicy tomatoes grown on site. read more

We went there to pick our own strawberries. We brought our own containers. There were plenty of berries since it's only the beginning of the season. There was plenty of parking even at lunch time when their shop got busy. After Berry picking, we went inside and had a snack. They have a large selection of sandwiches and baked goods. Prices are same as everywhere else. I must say that the price for the amount of berries I got wasn't high. In terms of activities for kids, there was nothing else to do or see. So, if you have kids and are looking for some other type of entertainment such as petting zoo, playground etc, then this is not the place. read more

I have lived in this area a long time and love going to Verrill Farm. They have great produce, awesome sandwiches and prepared meal but they have BBQ on Thursdays 4-6 for a good part of the summer. I have only had the pulled pork which I take home and it is yummy! read more

We patronize Verrill and like to support them. Their items are generally of good quality. But recently...we have sadly noted their customer service is simply...awful. Not sure what's going on...but the staff are seemingly unhelpful...with a bad attitude. No one likes to shop when staff seem to be annoyed with a customer question or have a rude come-back. We'll likely be back if just for the produce but my suggestion to management is to get yourself staff who understand that customer service is even MORE important than the ripeness of the vegetables.... read more

Ok place, overpriced. Was expecting a larger store and selection of produce. Tomatoes are $4 a pound and fresh garlic is $10 a pound. The greens are a decent price by the bunch, filled a whole bag for $10. They have frozen foods like pies, jams from Stonewall Kitchen, and a small selection of baked goods. There is a small seating area and lots of parking. read more

Excellent produce, especially the corn and tomatoes. Pies and other baked goods are very good. A bit pricey and more commercial than other farm stands in Concord, but high quality. The reason I did not give a 4 star rating is how crowded and poorly laid out the farm stand is. Always bumping into other customers. There is never anywhere to put the small shopping carts without getting in someone's way. It makes what should be a fun shopping experience a bit of a hassle, and I am always relieved to leave. They are expanding now (summer 2016) so perhaps by next year this situation will have improved. read more

Normally really really good. (the smoked house turkey is a must!!!) and the deserts are great. I really liked eating there. But recently I found a hair in my sandwich, that's the only reason I wouldn't give this 5/5. But they gave me a new sandwich and were accomidating, but still. We came here on a recommendation for pick-your-own strawberries last June, and it was fantastic! Nice large strawberry field, excellent prices, and the strawberry muffins were so good we not only went back to buy another, but asked for the recipe afterwards! I only wish they did more pick-your-own options so we could go back for other fruits! read more

THe Chocolate milk they sell inside (in the glass bottle) is fantastic. The sandwiches are also very good, although a little expensive. The festivals are usually awesome, especially the corn and tomato festival. The strawberry fest was a little disappointing this year, they only had strawberry shortcake. read more

We paid $30 each for today's Mother's Day Brunch, and were very disappointed. We arrived for the 1p sitting and walked through the buffet line, and also had to go fetch our own coffee. The food was reasonable, but the portions doled out were small, so that if you had a decent appetite, you had to go back through the line again. There was no service person walking around to make sure you had what you needed when you sat down. There was no server to offer coffee refills, the coffee wasn't fresh, and there was no cream, sugar or sweetener on the table. If you sat down and wanted to season your food, you had trudge back up to the buffet line where they had the only set of salt and pepper shakers to service both tents of tables - same with the coffee service - everything was on the other side of the tent, not on the tables. Just as we talked about going up for dessert, I noticed the buffet was being broken down.....there was no announcement that the buffet was over, there was no one thanking anyone for coming or wishing everyone a Happy Mother's Day....and the desserts were whisked away before we were able to sample them. As a matter of fact, they even came around and took the fresh flowers in mason jars off all the tables before people were finished eating. It was like having a buffet at McDonald's. It was grossly overpriced and we felt grossly underserved and neglected, not just in portions, but in total lack of service.....c'mon, it's Mother's Day, we were hoping for just a little bit of pampering! I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, and certainly won't go back again. read more

Verrill Farm is good. A little expensive, but good. My only issue with the farm store are the customers. The employees are nice (used to me), and the fruit and vegetable selection is excellent. I live in Boston and own a rental house down the street from Verrill which I go to check up on occasionally. When I get out of the car and walk up to the outside stands (and even worse inside the store), you wouldn't believe the looks I get from the 95% female customers already there! I realize Concord is stuck up, but these bitches who don't even work should mind their own business and go about their shopping, instead of leering at me. Once in a while when I have had a long day at work and I know I will slap one of them around once I get a dirty look, I will go (literally) down the street to Brigham Farm instead. It is a whole other world there. The owner dresses like Granny Clampett, and I feel right at home there. Brigham doesn't have the selection Verrill does, but it is a much better environment for me to shop in. I don't like to get judged, especially by housewives who look like they haven't worked a day in their lives. My last tenant was married to a pediatrician and had nothing better to do all day than complain. She even complained when I would have the grass cut! She said she enjoys seeing the deer feed at dusk. I was glad to get rid of them. read more
