So, then we were faced with the task of finding someone else we could trust to replace her while we were in the depths of our grief. The first thing I noticed was the astronomical prices, which seem to have double over the last four years. I don't know if that's price gouging but that would essentially equate to approximately a 25% increase each year. Those prices are for cremation, if you want aquamation, it is more expensive. After much research and several phone calls, I was no closer to finding someone I felt we could trust. Until I asked my neighbor who she used when her dog passed away earlier this year, which is how i discovered VIPM. However, it happened to be Sunday and their website states that they are closed on Sundays. I called any way and left a message and shortly thereafter, Jane called us back! It only took a few minutes to know that she was the perfect person to assist us. Her care, commitment and compassion was evident and she offered to come early the next morning. We were so relieved and appreciative. The biggest surprise was that the price was HALF of what everyone else was charging, AND it is for aquamation for no additional cost! It included a beautiful paw print with out pet's name inscribed, a clipping of his hair in a glass vial and the cremains in a small attractive container. I cannot recommend Jane and VIPM enough, she runs her business from her heart and her values and she truly cares about her clients. More like Very Incompetent Pet Mortuary. I had the misfortune of taking my long lived pet and my very first pet to this place. Big mistake. I went here based on a friend's recommendation. She did Bio Cremation here not that long ago and I saw the ashes. They didn't even look like ashes, but more of the whole dog remains with large chunks of bones so it feels like you are still with your pet. I was expecting the same results. What I ended up getting was what looked like normal fire cremation. I got back a pile of dust. They said if I did dig around in there I might find a bone and that it's the same process done as my friend since they only do bio cremation here. You can look at the picture and compare for yourself, but they really dropped the ball on this one. If I knew I would get back the same result as fire cremation I could have that done anywhere else for much, much cheaper than this over priced place. They assured me the ashes were my pet's. They also returned my medium sized dog in a tiny box, my friend got a larger box and it was for a normal size cat. Looks like they also try and cut costs, by giving you a smaller box and tossing out the rest. Whatever you do go with any other company. Some options which provide great service and care with a lot of great reviews are: Choice Veterinary Care, At Garden's Edge, Pet Cremation, and Serenity Veterinary Care. They all have 5 stars and the service you get there has to be better than here. I wish I could do everything over, but in the end it's my fault for picking this company, do NOT make the same mistake as I have made as you'll live to regret it. read more

I used VIP and Jane's services about 2 years ago. I had an unexpected vet visit and had to put my cat down due to a cancerous growth in her throat that was obstructing her breathing. Jane was so sweet and understanding of my pain from the loss of my sweet Pixie. I called her early on a Sunday morning and she was driving. She immediately pulled over so she could focus on talking to me. She sent me pictures of various urns in the sun so I could see the actual color of the woods. Little wind-up toys in perpetual motion, cockatiels are the lovable clowns of the bird kingdom. They're extremely affectionate, smart and love people. At their worst, they're a pain-in-the-ass. But they're also your best friend ever with personalities more akin to dogs than to birds. As cockatiels live anywhere from 15 to 20 years of age, it never dawned on me that I would need the services of Very Important Pet Mortuary for a long, long time. As my kids could never agree on a name for our bird, he was simply known as The Cockatiel by default. If he were a person, The Cockatiel would always wear a bow-tie. When I was home, his little yellow head was everywhere -- seemingly at once. When I returned after being gone for the day, The Cockatiel would look me straight in the eye and lecture me for over five minutes for having had the audacity to have left him. The Cockatiel loved to have his head and belly rubbed, and derived great satisfaction from singing to anyone and everyone he met. Each night when I took my contact lenses out, he zipped onto my shoulder to sing "Beethoven's 5th Symphony" and the Chicago Bears Fight Song. In the morning when I put my lenses in, he paced back and forth waiting for me to finish so he could look into the mirror and mimic the sound of a paper towel cleaning it. That above all, was probably his favorite thing although linguine was a close second (he loved to drag the sauce-covered strand in circles around the table). The Cockatiel slept in a cage, but for the rest of the day, he had as much freedom as a bird could ask. Each morning, he screamed until I let him out so he could wreck havoc on yet another day. Whenever I made a move, he would fly to my shoulder where he would proudly ride me around as if I were a parade float. My cockatiel was also overly-fond of feet. I believe he thought them to be a female cockatiel or a cockatiel god. In any case, he drove me crazy screaming at them. I could literally go on for tear-filled hours describing The Cockatiel's antics and his love for us. But I think you already have a fair idea of what the little guy (he weighed no more than 4 ounces) was all about. I always knew that The Cockatiel's spirit was too enormous for his little body. One morning my worst fears were realized when I awakened to find him at the bottom of his cage. Our beloved little imp was dead. I cried for days and am still not over his demise. Thankfully, I discovered Very Important Pet Mortuary on Yelp. Its reviews were glowing. It was with a heavy heart that I gave them a call. Carol and Tracey, sisters who created and operate this business which fills such a valuable need in our community, were kind and understanding. They picked The Cockatiel up from our home, took him to be cremated, then returned him to us in a beautiful wooden box accompanied by certificates of condolences. Unfortunately, that day came two weeks ago and I am very grateful to have chosen Very Important Pet Mortuary to handle my dog's aftercare. Knuckles was my constant and my most loyal companion for almost 11 years. It was really difficult to watch him age and witness his health deteriorate over time. On top of the issues that stem from the English Bulldog breed, he was born with bad genes that always left him with allergies and lead to seizures that slowly made him blind. Over the last year, I noticed such a drastic change in his quality of life and was forced with the heartbreaking decision to let him go. In my decision-making process, I came across Very Important Pet Mortuary's website. When I called to inquire about their cremation services and pricing, I left a message and received a return phone call right away. When speaking to Tracey, I was overcome by grief and she was extremely comforting in explaining the entire process. I knew instantly that this company was the right fit to handle Knuckles' aftercare arrangements with the love and respect that only pet owners can appreciate and truly understand during this kind of loss. As it is a family owned company, it felt good to know that only four people would be handling my best friend. The next day, I brought Knuckles to his vet to say goodbye.
