Sadly we used Hearts and Halos services once again and once again they came through in a clutch. Five months since Dr. Sara and her assistant came to our house and helped us send our Louis to a better place, this visit was for our Teddy. Prior to Dr. Sara's visit, Teddy enjoyed a few grilled chicken nuggets and ice cream for the first time in his precious life and Later Dr. Sara gave him a peanut butter cup and boy did he enjoy that. The whole process was easy and compassionate which was very consoling. As we await the phone call to retrieve our Teddy's ashes, again I hope this review helps others deal with the passings of their loved ones.

Dr. Denise Osborne was excellent. Very professional and showed sympathy. Not rushed. Guided the family through every step she's doing. Our Sydney (osteo sarcoma) went very peacefully. Thank you.

What an AMAZING company. We had to say goodbye to Sadie our 15 year old Staff. I had several email exchanges with them months prior. They provided all the information to have on hand for when it's time. Today was they day unfortunately. However Dr Mari Kramer and her kind associate made the whole experience easier. She has an almost hypnotic speaking voice. She calmly explained the procedure to our 9 year old girl. The procedure itself. Two injections spaced about ten minutes apart and it was over. Very calm And peaceful. They will send the ashes in a few weeks. Thank you all and I recommend these people whole heartedly.

Hearts and Halos is a veterinarian company that offers home pet euthanasia services. My husband and I decided to use them to help us put our beloved little girl, Muffin, down last month. We had the pleasure of Dr. Susan Chao come out to our home on Friday, March 20. We had a 9 am appointment (the first one of the day) and she arrived a little before. She had called me about 15 minutes prior to let me know that she would be arriving within 15 minutes. When she arrived, my husband and I greeted her and had her walk to our backyard, as this was the place I had wanted for our little girl because she loved being in the backyard to sunbathe. Dr. Chao was wonderful at guiding us through the process, explaining every step of the way and allowing us to take our time to say goodbye to Muffin. She also allowed us to give Muffin treats during the process (Muffin's last meal was a chicken nugget from Burger King and pureed chicken that Dr. Chao brought, which Muffin really did enjoy eating). Dr. Chao also did cut a piece of Muffin's fur for us to keep and placed it in a small plastic box, which she put in a small mesh bag and gave it to us as a keepsake. Muffin passed away on March 20, 9:31 am. Dr. Chao gave us some time to spend with Muffin right after and just walked towards the side of the house so that we could have privacy. Afterwards, she placed Muffin in a basket and then we walked with her towards the front of the home so that she could take Muffin with her to eventually be cremated. About two weeks later, I contacted Hearts and Halos to ask if Muffin's ashes were ready for us to pick up (please note that the company can also mail your pet's ashes to you, but we just preferred to pick it up in person). I had a hard time getting ahold of them via telephone, so I emailed the company and was able to arrange for a pickup time. I was told via email that someone was supposed to contact us that day that I had emailed them about Muffin's ashes though... This past Thursday, my husband and I went to Gardena to pick up Muffin's ashes (please note that Hearts and Halos office is now in transition to moving to Hungtinton Beach). When we arrived, an employee came out and gave us a small gift bag, that held her ashes, seeds to plant in her memory and also a small brochure regarding aftercare and additional resources for the grieving process. I do like the box that her ashes came in and also I love the small wooden heart with her name engraved on it and a small halo right above her name. The total cost for these services is $840 (you can pay via check, cash or credit card). You can also have additional items, such as an urn (which cost $60) or your pet's paw print, that will cost extra. If you do not wish to have your pet's ashes back, the cost would go down to $675, in which your pet will be part of a communal process to preserve their ashes and then will be scattered in the company's memory garden. Just as a price comparison, when we had to put down our other 2 dogs at the vet (both of our other dogs were of an emergent case and so we would not have been able to plan for their euthanasian earlier and so we would not have been able to utilize these home euthanasia services even if we had known about them at the time), at minimum, it would have cost $455 if we had made an appointment and had this service done during the day. However, both times we had to rush our dogs to the vet were during after hours and without an appointment, so the cost was around $560, which also did include their ashes. So, these home pet euthanasia services can cost an additional $100- $300 more but we felt it was worth the cost. We did not have to rush and deal with the stress and anxiety of the car ride from our home to the vet and also sit in the waiting room while they prep our dog and then say goodbye to them in the vet's office (where both of our dogs really hated going to the vet). The ability to allow Muffin to be in the comfort of her own home and to have foods that she enjoyed during the process was worth it for us. I highly recommend home pet euthanasia at home if you can afford it. I like to think that this was the much better choice for Muffin and hope that she was happy with her chicken treats right before she left us, keeping her in good spirits than to be stressed and anxious if we had chosen to bring her to the veterinarian instead. Thank you Hearts and Halos for helping us during this process.

There's really no easy way to write a review like this. Sending a beloved member of your fur-family over the Rainbow Bridge is the last thing you ever want to do. But when the time comes and this difficult decision becomes necessary, Hearts and Halos is absolutely the organization to trust. Last month, my husband and I had to make the heartbreaking decision to say goodbye to our fur-child, Chewy. He had been aging gracefully, but suddenly he just stopped living the life he loved - he stopped eating, stopped playing, and stopped being himself. When we called Hearts and Halos, they were able to come the very same day. As painful as the decision was - and it was not one we made lightly - we knew it was the right time. Both the doctor and her assistant (I sincerely apologize for forgetting their names - it was an incredibly emotional day) were truly exceptional. Their kindness, compassion, sincerity, and gentleness were beyond anything we could have hoped for. They felt like part of the family from the moment they arrived. They carefully walked us through the entire process, explaining everything and giving us the time and space we needed, ultimately helping Chewy pass peacefully and without suffering. They allowed us to wrap him in one of his favorite blankets (I didn't care that it wouldn't come back), and when they carried him away, they held his precious little body with the same care and tenderness you would give your own child. Less than two weeks later, we brought him home again. The care and thoughtfulness they showed in the presentation of his remains and the items we had requested were incredibly touching. It was done with such dignity and compassion. We miss Chewy terribly, but we are grateful to have him home again. Thank you, Hearts and Halos, for guiding us through one of the most painful moments of our lives and helping us honor and cherish Chewy forever.

I just really want to share my full appreciation for Hearts and Halos, the whole team, and Dr. Katie for the care they provided Princess. First off, I was amazed at how much compassion was shown throughout the whole process. Our plan was relatively short notice, with a call made on Saturday afternoon to schedule for Sunday afternoon. Samantha who had answered my first call, had expressed such care even over the phone carefully selecting the nicest ways to say things with the sweetest tone. Regarding cost, incredibly affordable for the service provided. We paid $840 total in the La Puente area for the Mobile Euthanasia service done in our home, in addition to requesting aquamation aftercare services where we would receive the urn. No hidden fees and super straightforward. Dr. Katie and Jessica arrived to our house right on time, were incredibly respectful and carefully explained the whole process to my family. They got to know a little about Princess and her past. They reassured us of Princess' comfort being prioritized, answered any questions, and were in no rush at all. Any slight adjustments we wanted to make to make Princess' final moments as comfy as possible were gladly permitted by Dr. Katie. During our final moments with Princess while she was awake, there was absolutely no rush when it came to our words or expressing our grief. Over and over they reassured us that Princess was loved dearly and took amazing care of her. I cannot recommend these services enough as long as it is within your budget. We have done in clinic euthanasia before, and it just doesn't even compare to being able to spend these crucial final minutes where your loved pet is comfortable and surrounded by familiarity. I can imagine how difficult it is to maintain compassion and emotional intelligence in a setting like this with countless families in a vulnerable space. But not once during the process did I feel any regret or that any of the care shown was not genuine. Thank you all so much. P.S. Princess loved her final licks of chocolate ice cream.

After losing our beloved dog, we entrusted everything to Hearts and Halos, and I truly can't express how grateful we are. They treated our sweet dog with the utmost dignity, compassion, and respect during such a heartbreaking time. Knowing our baby was cared for so gently meant more to us than words can say. When we brought our dog's remains back home, we felt a deep sense of peace because we knew they had been handled with love and honor. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for taking such beautiful care of our precious family member. We will never forget your kindness.

I can't say enough about the compassion and kindness Dr. Denise showed during one of the hardest moments of my life. Saying goodbye to my beloved kitty was something I had been dreading, especially because she was very skittish and easily stressed, but Dr. Denise made the entire experience as peaceful and gentle as it could possibly be. Her suggestions (like adjusting the environment and approach to minimize stress) made such a difference and helped my cat feel more at ease during the transition. Her assistant was equally kind and thoughtful, offering quiet support and handling everything with such sensitivity and respect. Together, they created a space that felt calm, dignified, and full of care. This is an incredibly difficult decision for any pet parent, but I am so grateful I had Dr. Denise to guide us through it. Thank you for helping my sweet girl pass with peace and love.

These are the rabbit paw prints they made.

My rabbit recently passed, and Hearts and Halos handled his cremation. The cremation box was beautiful, and his ashes were shipped very securely and arrived quickly, which I appreciated. That said, I think they should consider offering paw impressions instead of laser-engraved wood pieces. While the product looked nice, it didn't really resemble a rabbit's paws. I asked for the original files, and they sent them promptly so I could try redoing it myself, but the images were not usable for scanning, which likely contributed to the disappointing result. This was incredibly heartbreaking! Also, I work in conservation, and while I understand the idea of planting seeds in memory of a pet, sending unlabeled and potentially non-native seeds for people to plant isn't environmentally responsible.

We had to say goodbye to our 18-year-old cat, Ellie, and I'm so grateful we chose Hearts & Halos for in-home euthanasia. Her health took a drastic turn, and we had to make the heartbreaking decision to put her down. I emailed first thing in the morning, and they were able to come the same day, which meant more to us than I can express. I was so emotional I couldn't get on the phone to talk through details, but they handled everything quickly and thoroughly over email, which was an enormous relief. From the moment they arrived, they were incredibly kind and gentle with Ellie. They explained every step clearly, gave us space, and treated her with genuine respect and dignity. Their calm presence brought a sense of peace to an otherwise devastating day. They helped Ellie pass comfortably at home, surrounded by love, and we're deeply thankful for the care and compassion they showed our family. If you're facing this decision, I truly recommend this service. They made an impossible moment a little more bearable and gave Ellie the peaceful goodbye she deserved.

Having to say goodbye to my Charlie was SO hard. I know he had an amazing life and that I did everything that I could for him, but it doesn't make the having to call a service to come help your soul dog pass away any easier. Everyone at Hearts and Halos was amazing from the start. I was sobbing when I called. They were kind, thoughtful and helped me work through some of my own pre-grief. I'm pretty sure everyone has some sort of grief training. The way they talked to me to help me process my emotions was just... again, so thoughtful and kind. I scheduled the appointment a few days out, but Charlie started to take a turn for the worst and I didn't want my baby to suffer. I called them again and they were able to have a doctor come same day. Dr. Kramer was so kind and patient. She didn't rush anything, gave me the space and plenty of time to say goodbye properly, and made sure Charlie was well taken care of. Everything was about making sure that he had a peaceful passing. I'm so thankful to Hearts and Halos who made this difficult experience as peaceful as possible and made sure my baby was comfortable throughout this entire passing. Thank you Dr. Kramer, we couldn't have asked for a better doctor.

Ask the Community - Hearts and Halos

I chose got my cat to have her ashes put in the community Garden, where is the garden so I may visit?

Would my dog be cremated alone.?

As far as I know one at a time than they will mail you the ashes.

How much do they charge for the in-home euthanasia service for a small dog?

I paid $595 a couple months ago and that included cremation. It's definitely a little pricey, but it was worth every single penny.

Is it an option to bring my pet to you for cremation services?

When Choice Veterinary Care euthanized my dog, they took the dog away for cremation. You can choose the free/public/mass cremation (you will not get your dog's ashes back) or pay extra for private cremation where you will get your dog's ashes back.

I contacted them immediately and was assisted by Heather. She was very kind and helpful over the phone, gave me all the info about the various packages they offer. They offer 3 different cremations packages (private, witness, and communal). I chose to go with private bc witness was more than double the price of private. However, don't be nervous about going with private bc they have numerous ways to ensure that you will be obtaining your pet's remains back even if you aren't able to witness the full process. The private package included a simple urn (a box), paw/nose impression, and fur clipping. In their viewing room, they have numerous urns to choose from and upgrade from the package. Although it was so close to the holidays, I was able to pick up my baby girl the day after christmas. They were kind enough to gift us with a bamboo impression of her nose and paw as an ornament as well. The whole service and communication was truly great. I had no doubt in trusting Heather and her family with taking care of my pet. You can feel how much they care about animals and their passion in helping families get closure and having a beautiful send off for their pets. They have falsely informed me, twice, that they will call me back with an update. So, overall poor customer service. This has prolonged me and my family's grieving process as the anxiety of having to wait with no definitive date, or communication on progress made, has been given. If you are going to advertise having a certain memorabilia available, then make sure it is available. The excuse of our rings not being completed due to one being a smaller size is unacceptable. Furthermore, if delays are to occur, there should be consistent communication with the family, as we have entrusted you with the remains of our beloved pets and should be reassured consistently that they are being handled with care throughout the process.

I couldn't have asked for a better way to say goodbye to my 14 year old toy poodle. The vet was…read morekind, compassionate, and explained the process - first a small injection under the skin to calm her, free her of pain, and allow her to still be present. He suggested we give her something fun to eat while the sedative took effect. She gobbled down some birthday cake cookie dough and a raw egg. He gave her another injection while she ate. She was oblivious to the shot. She gradually slowed down to a deep sedated state. The vet draped my lap with a comfy blanket, I held her on my lap and he gently put down a pad in case she relieved herself and covered the pad with the rest of the blanket so you couldn't see it. He always asked if I needed more time and was very considerate. He shaved her front leg and injected the final dose into one of her tiny veins. Her breathing slowly stopped, he listened with his stethoscope and quietly nodded and said she had passed. Again, he offered to excuse himself if I wanted time with her. When I was ready he wrapped her in the blanket like a baby, offered his condolences and left. He brought a very nice camera and asked if I wanted any pictures but I declined. I did ask that she be cremated and have her remains solidified. I had no idea this existed but you can have the ashes turned into smooth stones that you can display, share with family (my son asked for a stone ) etc. you should check it out. I was thrown off by the idea at first but then it grew on me and apparently it's pretty popular because the turnaround time is about two months. It's pricey but she was an integral part of our lives for almost 15 years and knowing she will be returning to me softened the sting of losing her.

We were incredibly worried and scared about him, and it was such an emotional and overwhelming time for us. From the moment we met Dr. Eskander, she was not only incredibly knowledgeable, but also so compassionate, patient, and genuinely caring. She treated Appa with so much kindness and love, and she made us feel like we were not alone through such a difficult experience. What really touched our hearts was how much she cared about us too. She took the time to answer our questions, listen to our concerns, and reassure us when we were scared. She helped calm both me and my husband when we needed it most. And then, even after Appa's visit, Dr. Eskander followed up with us to make sure he was okay. That meant more to us than she probably realizes. It showed us that Appa wasn't just another patient to her. She truly cared about how he was doing. As pet parents, all we want is someone who will care for our babies as much as we do, and Dr. Eskander gave us exactly that. We will forever be grateful for the compassion, kindness, and care she showed our boy. Thank you, Dr. Eskander, for taking such wonderful care of Appa and for giving two very worried pet parents some much-needed comfort during a very difficult time. We will never forget your kindness. If you are looking for a veterinarian who genuinely cares about both your pet and your family, we cannot recommend Dr. Eskander enough.

The prices here are also a little bit more affordable than other vets. However, I do think you get what you pay for. It's an okay place to get the basics done like vaccinations, but I didn't feel comfortable taking my dog here for more serious concerns after a few not-so-great experiences. Examples of experiences that made me switch vets: - Brought my dog had teeth cleanings where the doctor would made endless rude comments about her teeth. Suggestions on how to improve her dental hygiene would've been fine, but he would just give a bunch of backhanded comments instead. My dog was later taken in for a teeth extraction. While under sedation, the doctor brought us to the back to show us some things, but rudely handled her as though she were a toy rather than a pet - Another time, my dog had a swollen paw that wouldn't go down so we asked them to take a sample to make sure it wasn't something cancerous. They claimed to have taken the sample, but never delivered the results. When I called in to follow up, they sounded hesitant, but claimed that the results showed up negative so we were in the clear. When her paw continued to worsen, we took her to another spot to get a second opinion - lo and behold the growth was cancerous and needed to be removed ASAP. Annoying that friendly animal hospital took our money and told us the wrong thing. I'm not even sure if ever actually tested the paw sample, but they sure did charge us for it I don't like giving negative reviews but I think it's important for people to know.
