Unfortunately, I cannot recommend Independence Car Care. Took my sons truck there for repair and $1,200 later the problem was not fixed. Was told they fixed what my son said was wrong and admitted they did not read the codes showing on the dash OR test drive the vehicle when done. Sent me to a specialist for a 2nd opinion who said a mechanic should have known the repair was not going to fix the issue based on the codes. Shared specialist findings with Jeff, the owner of Independence, who immediately went on the defensive. Disagreed with specialist's findings, denied knowledge of conversations we had with his manager about issues with the truck and scheduling the repair, made excuses for why they did not properly diagnose the main issue and share this info with us. Acted like my son and I were the mechanics, and they just blindly followed the single note on the drop off envelope and ignored all conversations. Additional note... when the Manager called with the price quote they found "additional" work on a ball joint they recommended. We said to told them not to repair the ball joint and they responded that they'll just go ahead with repairing the transmission. The day we picked up the truck the transmission was still not working, engine codes still on. Owner refuses to refund or discount any of the repairs they did that per the specialist should not have been done. read more

I went to jeff and his mechanics for tires, battery, and inspection/oil change, this is a top notch family oriented place of business. Darryl usually works on my car idk maybe by luck of the draw. I knew I had minor things wrong which all were attended to. The price for work done was not sky high at all. We have been coming here for 8yrs I wont bring my cars no where else. Thankyou guys! BEWARE!!! This place will rob you. Tell you they diagnosed your vehicle and charge you $95 and make it appear everything is repaired by some small things and get two miles up the road and same thing plus more happens with your car and then wanna turn around and charge $95 per hour MORE to diagnose your vehicle AGAIN after just leaving from there. If I could give negative stars I would. You think not bad only having to pay $400/$500 but same problems happen afterwards and vehicle will break down right after and these thieves will charge to diagnose again. read more

Ok so with place I thought would be good based of the reviews but they damn sure did try to scam me... So I spoke to the Ass. Manager his name was like Kolby or something so he asked for me to come in and get a wheel alignment because thats what I needed done. I got there and filled out paperwork and gave him my keys so they can do their service. After about 30 minutes he comes back to me with a bill saying that I need $650 worth of work done before I need my wheel alignment done. My cars issue was the right rear control arm and I knew that prior because my control arm needs to be repaired and fixed but he and his team didnt say that my right rear control arm needed to be replaced but instead he said I needed my LEFT drivers side control arm replaced, stabilizer links and a bunch of other things that racked up a sweet total around $650! Im 20 and he tried to play me like a fool because I am young and thinks I dont know jack shit about cars. So I told them to take my car off the jack and give me my keys and thanked them for their "services". He was gonna have me replace all those parts and after all the repair he was probably going to say, "oh by the way you need to change your right rear control arm too" and try to milk me out of a grand or so. But being the indesicive person I am, I went to 2 other shops that day after this experince and they both said all I needed was a new right rear control arm before they can do a wheel alignment so long story short I knew what I was getting into to and wanted to figure out if that place would be trustworthy and not shady, but I guess that is not the case. I followed Jeff from his former position as Manager at Midas, because over the years I had come to trust that he wouldn't try to sell me anything I didn't need. He was always willing to explain exactly what was wrong, and whether it needed fixing immediately, or could wait. I was always one of his 'budget' customers, and I never felt I was overcharged. One reviewer wasn't so positive, as he had diagnosed his own car's problem, and felt that Independence Car care was trying to sell him things his car didn't need. I don't know if he just decided they were wrong, or if he asked questions about what they said he needed. I've found they are very willing to answer questions....I'm not a car genius, but I'm mechanically minded enough to know when someone is BSing me....and I have never seen Jeff or his people try to do that. I'm just sorry I didn't review Jeff's business sooner. And, I have not been paid for my endorsement. read more

We recently took my daughter's 2008 Mustang to a local shop to have a coolant leak checked before winter arrived. This shop diagnosed the problem as warped head gaskets, which was going to set my daughter back between $2,000 and $2,600, or perhaps more once the shop took the entire engine apart to repair the problem. The owner of this shop didn't seem too eager to take on the job, and actually recommended that we take the car to a dealership, because "they were better equipped to deal with big problems like this." We got the car back and I called up Jeff at Independence to see if he would mind taking a look at the job. Right off the bat, Jeff was skeptical of the first diagnosis, stating that there was no way the car would run all summer and not begin either overheating or blowing smoke out of the exhaust every time it was started. To make a fairly long story shorter, after a thorough diagnostic Jeff and his team determined that there was no need to repair the head gaskets, and all that was needed was a $300 thermostat. Needless to say, my daughter was thrilled, and we have found ourselves a new mechanic. Thanks to Jeff and his team for their great work! read more

Went in with a pulsing in my breaks thinking it was my rotors. I had to bring my 1 year old and was told it would be an "hourish". Three hours and $300 later they changed my rear breaks (which was good), broke my emergency break (which was bad), and I still had the same problem I went in with (not good). Plus my kid missed her nap time and snack. May not seem like a big deal to people without kids but missing meals and naps really screws up your day. Anyways, they also told me that now that the emergency break is broke it won't pass inspection. They wanted me to come back another day to fix the issue I originally came in with plus charge me $400+ to fix the emergency break they broke. Went to another shop and the owner tells me straight off "pulsing is almost always the front rotors". They then fixed the rotors and emergency break for less than Independence wanted. Finally, an auto repair shop where I'm treated with respect, not like a child because I'm a woman! This shop is very clean. Jeff and his wife Amy are the on-site owners and they are super friendly and very knowledgeable. My dad took his car to Jeff for years and trusted him and now I know why!! Jeff went way above and beyond to help me out and provided me with much more manageable solutions than the dealer!! Cody, the mechanic who worked on my SUV, was also attentive and knowledgeable. This business is about as trust-worthy as they get. I called because according to a cheap gadget I bought online, there was a problem with my alternator. It was 10 minutes before closing and Jeff told me he could check it before they closed (thank you Jeff!). No problem with the alternator, just my piece of crap gadget. They didn't charge me to check it and they totally could have told me I needed a new alternator and I would've believed them. I've had my car repaired at this place before. The workers are nice, the decor is clean and comfortable, and Jeff is incredibly kind, friendly, and honest. I have been taken advantage of in the past with car repair and so appreciate finding a car repair place I can trust. read more
