One word: yum. [[HIGHLIGHT]]A wonderful afternoon in an even wonderful atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It's all good seriously. I had the chicken Kiev, dumpling (perogie...sorry I'm forgetting the Ukrainian name). Very friendly staff too!

Absolutely amazing place! Had the best choose 4 pierogis! Fantastic food and service. They gave me an extra aperol spritz on the house as well before my flight :) [[HIGHLIGHT]]Love the outdoor seating during a beautiful day.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Will definitely be back on my next trip to NY!

I could eat this again and again. Boiled pierogies and latkes! I've been to the original location in East Village and the outpost at Market Line that has since closed and they're all just as good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The Wburg location has the classic old school diner vibe and the service is efficient and friendly[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. The potato and cheese are my faves and the sauerkraut mushroom deserves a spot too. A special moment goes to the perfectly crispy outside and soft, evenly cooked inside of the latkes. Just perfect. And of course everything topped with applesauce and fried onions. Delicious.

We love Veselka on the Lower East Side! Parking is always a challenge so I told my wife let's go to Veselka new location in Williamsburg for dinner. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Walking inside, the restaurant feels likes its been in Williamsburg for 50 years. They made the restaurant so comforting, so.. Williamsburg![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Veselka Williamsburg is smaller than the Lower East Side location but the smells coming from the kitchen close to the dining area seals the deal.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We're focused on one item, the Borscht. In the winter its served hot so I don't want a cup but a bowl of delishiousness. We also ordered a large combo plate with plenty of pierogies. The pierogies came with two cheese and two meat filled pierogies, I like to come here and get the boiled pierogies, The hot borscht is served with meat, I thought it was short rib but I asked our waitress and was told it was pork. I am swooning over this dish. Even the sour cream, its not a dollop of Daisy, its so smooth and creamy. I highly recommend starting with the Borscht. The boiled pierogies, they are homemade and filled with goodness. The sides are caramelized onions and that terrific sour cream goes very well with these bad boys. The stuffed cabbage topped with a brown gravy was a total game changer. The stuffed cabbage was also another great addition to our combo plate, I loved this dish. I'm not sure if there is a reservation system, we walked in and waited about 10 minutes before our table was ready. Veselka Williamsburg is a great addition to the restaurant chain!

    Stand with Ukraine Bowl

I ordered lunch delivery from here. I tried the Stand with Ukraine special. I got my it fried rather than boiled. I'm guessing the sautéed bacon and onions it comes with are very oily, because there was a pool of oil at bottom of the container, that spilled into the bag. Despite that unappealing start the flavors were on point. The bacon and onions were delectable and each perogie was expertly constructed and filled. Still, all that greasiness didn't make me feel great. I think eating it at their restaurant would be a better experience.

I was worried it would be super crowded on a Sunday night, but we walked right in and were sat instantly. The food also comes out super quick! We ordered and then BOOM it was in front of our faces. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great sized location. You don't feel like you're sitting on top of the next table.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I am so full! I couldn't even finish my meal. I have only tried Veselka once at the location on 2nd Ave but I won a giftcard on Instagram to the Williamsburg location. DELICIOUS! I tried to order different things than last time and I was not disappointed! I want to keep coming back!

    Jessica G.

The chicken soup is great and so are the pierogies! I like to come here and get the boiled pierogies, I feel like they're a little healthier than fried, but maybe that's just in my head

i got the brooklyn lunch special of 4 pierogies + a bowl of borscht on a chilly, rainy day and it was the perfect meal. i loved the borscht and my favorite pierogies were the braised short rib and chicken + vegetable flavors. i came during an off time so i was seated and served very quickly.

    Val S.

Veselka's brand new location in Williamsburg offers the same delicious Eastern European food and drinks as their other locations. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Service was fast and the place is clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I had the potato pancake combo plate and chose a cup of borscht and beef Stroganoff with it. Super filling! The borscht is amazing. I recommend going for lunch if you want to beat the prime time rush.

Everything at Veselka is delicious, down to the borscht, butter on toast, and the potato latkes. However I wanted to give a special shoutout to an underrated star -- the pancakes. They are the perfect diner pancake- a stack fresh off the griddle, remains hot even after 10 minutes. Huge, crispy edges and fluffy in the middle. Haters will say, why not a more popular diner spot. But I've tried a decent bit and for me it really is the crispy edges and temperature freshness which is hard to come by at the more popular spots. The fact that Veselka is popular but can still deliver is impressive to me. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I took off one star just because it's always so busy and I don't love sitting at the bar but these are the downsides of fame!![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

5 stars for the ambiance and service, but 3 stars for the food. Pros: - Fun old-school diner vibes with playful odes to Ukraine - Ukrainian Borscht soup was delicious, clean, and flavorful. Cons: - I found the Stuffed Cabbage and Perogies to be bland and had to eat them with loads of sauteed onions, the Veal Goulash was dry and stringy (the sauce and mashed potatoes were solid), and the side of broccoli was steamed and you had to apply cold butter on it yourself (far from the Garlic Butter Broccoli described on the menu). Overall, we were not wowed by our meal. I'm curious to return and try the buttermilk or potato pancakes.

Think Veleska East Village 2.0. Opened only since June, it is catching a following with the locals as it is a bit away from most activities. Same huge menu and service. We had 2 great breakfast meals and decent coffee. Recommended.

We ordered one strawberry and one strawberry banana crêpe. They were filled with strawberries and bananas, and the outside was drizzled with glorious Nutella, which is a hazelnut chocolate sauce . The texture of the crêpes were absolutely perfect and that was the part I was most craving. I also loved the Nutella part. The banana and strawberry not so much as to me that didn't really have much of a taste, but maybe that was because the rest of it was super flavorful and over powered the fruit. Having a dessert spot in the neighborhood that is open late night and is serving flavors of our culture is nothing short of a dream come true. Not so great for my weight loss goals, though haha. Thank you, Moose. I came in here, and the place was absolutely buzzing, with groups of people enjoying their late night desserts- a testament to how much we needed this spot to just open and thrive and exist. I don't personally like cream Kenafa so I haven't really tried anything off their menu yet, but the Dubai chocolate crêpe is really calling out my name, and I am just going to bite the bullet and try it one of these days. I did go in to sample their Dubai chocolate. As a chocoholic, I am on a low-key search for the best Dubai chocolate bar in the city. This bar did not disappoint. The filling to chocolate ratio was perfect. However, I do feel that there is an over balance of crispy kanafa in the filling. I think it could use more pistachio cream and be a little on the runnier side. Can't wait to come back and try that crêpe. Until I am able to make that trip back, do stop in and enjoy a sweet treat in this cute little dessert shop. It's also Palestinian owned so you know you are supporting the right people and the right cause while satisfying that sweet tooth craving. What more could a customer ask for?

Anyway, I was in Brooklyn with my brother to see a concert and had just finished dinner. We had some time before doors opened so we decided to grab a little ice cream before heading over to the venue. Farmacy was steps away - it all seemed like it was meant to be, so off we went. Farmacy aims to capture the nostalgia of an old fashioned soda shop and ice cream parlor. Immediately upon walking in we were greeted by aesthetics - the tile, fixtures, and decor totally give off that vibe. There are a few tables to sit as well as a large bar area with stools; I also noticed a few tables set up outside as well. The traffic flow is set up so that you order first and then have it served to you after sitting. Browsing the menu, I noticed they have a selection of ice cream scoops, shakes, egg creams, specialty sodas, hot chocolates, and a large variety of sundae creations. Since we were there for ice cream, we decided to split a sundae -specifically the Sir Twix-a-Lot. This was chunks for shortcake tossed in caramel and topped with vanilla ice cream that was coated in a chocolate shell. Overall I thought the sundae was solid - but the combinations of textures weren't my favorite to be honest, mostly with how the shortcake played with the ice cream. It wasn't bad though - the flavors definitely gave the Twix aesthetic. My only other issue with the dish was that because chocolate shell was used, any residue at the bottom was hard so you have to chisel it if you want to savor any last spoonfuls; I guess that comes with the territory. Service was good - everyone was friendly. It wasn't too busy when we were there so we had our selection of seats and our ice cream was ready pretty quickly. Overall, I'm glad I finally tried Brooklyn Farmacy out - they have a large selection so I would definitely return when I'm in the area again.

The extra dollar for marshmallow made the chocolate even sweeter, so it was overwhelming and I wouldn't recommend. But. The extra dollar for whipped cream would be nice because the their homemade whipped cream isn't sweet, so it will just thicken up the drink and give you that extra texture oooomph that you'll appreciate. Torino cafe is basically coffee added to any hot chocolate of your choice. That was tasty with dark chocolate. You definitely tasted the coffee and it was less thick than regular hot chocolate (which was on a thinner, sippier side). You can sample ice cream to make your selection. It's all very sweet, so if you're looking for a less sweet option go with Belgian dark chocolate flavor. For a $18 banana split you get three scoops of ice cream and a caramelized banana. Flavor-wise, I tried the masala chai, black cherry cardamom, and the saffron soft serve. The saffron soft serve reminded me of the leftover milk from ras malai turned into soft serve, which was interesting and nostalgic. The masala chai and cherry cardamom were more subtle than I hoped. Some tasted unique upfront but left a slightly weird aftertaste that kind of lingered. TLDR: Unique global inspired ice cream flavors, friendly staff, and free samples, but some flavors felt muted and had an odd aftertaste.
