BEWARE - Ongoing issues with office management and prescription handling…read more I have been a client at this practice for approximately 14 years, and unfortunately, my experiences with the office manager (female, shoulder-length brown hair, glasses) have consistently been negative. Her attitude and demeanor toward clients have been unprofessional for as long as I have been coming here, and I am confident many long-term clients will recognize exactly who I am referring to. Recently, these issues escalated in a way that directly affected my dog's pain management. I was only given a one-week supply of my dog's pain medication, and it then took an additional three business days just to obtain the printed prescriptions. One of my dog's medications was switched from liquid to pill form due to the office stating they were "out" of the liquid. The pill is extremely small and must now be cut into four pieces, which is impractical and increases the risk of inaccurate dosing. As a result of poor communication and delays, my dog is now without pain medication. The office was unexpectedly closed on a Saturday when they are normally open. I called at 7:00 a.m. the day prior to request a refill of gabapentin. I then received a call after the office had already closed, stating that they "needed more information" to fill the prescription--despite the fact that the same prescription had been filled just one week earlier, with only a one-week supply provided. No explanation was given for what additional information was needed. This pattern feels less like an isolated mistake and more like ongoing control over access to necessary medications, with no regard for the impact on pets or their owners. Additionally, the pricing is excessive. For example, I was charged approximately $40 for 30 gabapentin pills, while the same medication can be obtained through Chewy for about $9.60 for 120 pills. Based on my long history here and these recent events, I strongly caution pet owners. Prescription access is unreliable, communication is poor, medications are delayed or restricted without clear justification, and costs are unreasonably high. When it comes to your pet's comfort and pain management, these issues are unacceptable.

I was so scared my pup would die because I don't work hard enough at work. I told them my budget and ask how they could help with payment if possible. The Mangement or owner helped me out! That's not common and very respectful to pet owners and unbelievably trusting of their customers. Thank you! While, yes the neg reveiws are correct. It can be difficult to get them on the phone. Having said that, ALL my calls have been called back. Sometimes outside of regular business hours. They help me get vax records by phone. My experience has been great, I will be returning. They were not as anxious as l thought and they were quite relaxed on the way home, literally a 2 minute drive from home. I even took them across the street to a neighbor's house for a few minutes. This facility is not a full service facility but if you need a referral they will readily have referrals available . The last few visits l had with my former Vet, because of Covid 19 restrictions l was not allowed to go into the examination room with my pets. I understood the precautions but it still made me uncomfortable. I wholeheartedly trusted my former vet who l have known for more than 10 years on a professional and personal level. Dr Kehoe does not rush and is very thorough. They don't try and "sell" a bunch of tests. They lay out why they think it's warranted and let you make a decision. No pressure but always compassionate. The staff does turn over a bit as I am sure it is a tough job seeing pets in all sorts of situations, but the Dr is that constant you can count on. This last visit the new staff all came out to meet our pup. Definitely worth our drive over the bridge to get our furrbabies the best care possible.

I'll start off by saying, kudos for being open on Christmas for emergencies like our car accident…read moresituation. But that's about all I'll say positive about our experience here. The front intake staff was good and friendly. The facility was clean and safe. If your pet has diarrhea or vomiting, this so called "hospital" can probably help you in an emergency with fluids and pills. It seems that's where their "hospital" supplies and support end. We sat in the front lobby for 3-1/2 hours because the "triage" nurse had our dog with a fully broken leg from a car accident listed as "stable and ok". We got pushed back for 2 other pets that came during that wait time. One did seem to be real emergency and needed help ASAP.Once we got in a room, the nurse spent a few minutes checking heart rate, eyes, tummy, then the leg. Also made us check weight a second time because someone forgot to write 34.7 kg down. No other body checks for a dog who was in a car accident. Doctor vet finally came in 30-45 minutes later and said "that's for sure broken, sorry I should have gotten to you sooner but he was listed as stable and ok on the chart". Even though he cried in pain for 3 hours in lobby. After spending a minute or maybe 90 seconds looking at him, she ordered "x-rays". Fully sedated our dog with anesthesia for an hour and only took ONE UNCLEAR XRAY! They took no blood or urine samples to check his body out. Dr came back in said "he needs a surgeon and we don't have one until next year". Then said with his arthritis, it would make surgery difficult. Handed us a list of other hospitals and specialists they knew of from Jupiter to Orlando to Gainesville to as to help us. Then gave us $667 bill for one xray, 2 prescriptions for pain, and splinter for the leg. No directions on how to help his leg stay stabilized except "put him in kennel". The next day after calling all their people on the list the next day, including the University of Florida we were told no one was staffed for a bone surgery for the holidays. Luckily I found a bone specialist down in Vero Beach who took us in Saturday. After reading the treatment summary and calling you guys, his staff and him could not believe that you guys only took ONE UNCLEAR XRAY of a small part of the leg. No blood or urine samples at all. With the specialist we got 7 xrays of the legs and 2 of the spine and chest without anesthesia! We were only there for 1-1/2 hours as well and they have a surgeon who can do surgery. On their xray array they also caught a prostate issue. That is how you give pets good care, is by actually checking them out fully. If you have something simple like dehydration or vomiting, these people can probably help. But if you want real useful healthcare with actual hospital style supplies and staff, I'd strongly suggest finding a more appropriate emergency hospital. After waiting so long and getting one xray and a splint then kicked down the road to a real vet hospital, I'd never return here again. I truly feel they owe me a full refund for at least the xrays, as they didn't even accomplish that simple task fully, and I had to pay to have them redone. PS The bone specialist said nothing about arthritis making this fix difficult.

His journey has NOT been simple, and they have supported us medically and emotionally every step of the way. Eddie came in very sick, and instead of guessing or rushing, the team took a very thoughtful and thorough approach. He had so many things done, including staying overnight multiple times, an echocardiogram, ultrasounds, blood work, PCV checks, and multiple rounds of testing to try to understand what was happening. It was all soooo confusing as to what was wrong with him, but the team never gave up. They carefully ruled things out, explained results clearly, and never made us feel rushed or like our questions were a burden. Eventually, the doctors shared that Eddie might be facing FIP or lymphoma which was so scary to hear - but they walked us through what that meant, what treatment options existed, and what to expect. They were honest, compassionate, and hopeful in all the right ways. We had the FIP medication overnighted and started it immediately, and have seen amazing results! This would not have been possible without Dr. Smith's intellect and dedication. Along the way, the staff constantly reminded us how much they loved Eddie and how sweet he is, which meant so much especially on the hard days. He has always been treated like a loved patient, not just "another cat." We were especially touched when Dr. Smith came in during his Thanksgiving break to care for Eddie when he needed treatment. That kind of commitment is rare, and we will never forget it!! Today, Eddie is gaining weight, healing, and slowly getting stronger, and we truly believe we wouldn't be here without the careful, dedicated care from this hospital. We are deeply grateful for the doctors, technicians, and staff at this hospital. But since the "take over" with the two new vets (who are very kind and professional btw), Dr Mahoney and Dr Kramer, the support staff is AWFUL and substandard to say the least. Rachel at the front desk is the WORST... she's the rudest, most unprofessional and immature employee I've ever come across in over TWO DECADES and SEVEN FURBABIES with Hometown Pets/Dr. Wilsnak. We had taken our Havanese in for a dental, ear cleaning and skin tag removal (3 smaller than a pencil eraser) but they removed a spot that just scabbed over between his eyes that really didn't need anything done and completely missed the large skin tag on his cheek that was marked in purple permanent marker!! Upon taking him back for the stitches to be removed as well as the tag on his cheek, they missed the stitches between his eyes and my HUSBAND had to TELL them to remove them - THEN on top of all that, the stitches on his back which the skin had grown over, we were "told" they had fallen out but you could feel something...MY HUSBAND had to remove the ONE stitch that DIDN'T FALL OUT from his back when we got home with a sterile needle and tweezers‼ SERIOUSLY⁉ With a bill at almost $800⁉ It's not even the money - we love our furbabies. I probably wouldn't have even written any review if it wasn't for RACHEL who obviously needs retraining or at least taught some etiquette/manners when you're representing a business ~ especially in a town as small as Sebastian. Sadly I can no longer recommend this office for pet care or professional conduct.
