I've gone to many thrift stores and I'm surprised people like it here. To me it smells :( I've bought items there, but overall I prefer other stores. My other issues are how they price their items. It's like sometimes things will be priced okay, to where they are decently priced, then other times they will really overprice things- like they forgot they are a thrift store! I have literally seen two items, the almost exact same item, and very differently priced... And then sometimes those tags they put on items destroy the item, like they write in that red pen write on top of stuff and it just can't be cleaned, they really need to change their tag system! Other thrift stores have a nice printed tag or a sticker! One that comes off nicely, not staining anything! I hope they get rid of that system. I go here all the time. Most of the time I find little neat treasures. I go here for my bf's comic book stuff. Sometimes I find good deals. Would never really buy furniture there but they always have a big selection. Parking here is horrible though. Some of the pricing they have in this store is whack, really $20 for an ugly sweater?!!?!? Their organization skills is lacking. This is an awesome thrift store! I usually purchase frilly girly dresses for my granddaughter to remain the princess that she is and this place was not short on those. This has become was of my favorite thrift stores. I just love finding things with the price tags still on them. The employees here are also very nice. This place has an outdoor section which is also amazing for two reasons. First, there is a barrage of awesome outdoor stuff there. Second, because the inside of this place really needs to have their floors scrubbed and cleaned along with a continuous sprayer of Febreze spraying all through the building. read more

For me, most thrift stores are a hit or miss. Sometimes the selection is amazing and unique, other times it's nothing special to write home about. I've been to this thrift store quite a few times -it's across the street from where I get my car's oil changed. 9/10 times, I find the prices on the items to be a bit steep, especially considering it is a thrift store. Thrift stores are supposed to be more on the dime and dollar pricing, not $6 for an old t-shirt. Another thing, this place isn't necessarily dirty, but it's definitely not clean. I highly suggest keeping a little bottle of hand sanitizer on deck before you venture into this place. read more

I go to this store all the time to find a bargain or two and sometimes I find something reasonable but not much. you can't say much about their Customer service when there customer restroom does not have running water to wash their hands. It's been like that for a couple of months. I am a veteran and they don't have veterans working there. Most of employees speak limited English. The store is really unorganized and sloppy. The store in spring valley is much cleaner. However not in my neighborhood. They really need to take lessons from the new Goodwill on J street. Customers feel welcomed there. read more

I am giving this place 1 star ONLY because you can get some great deals on furniture - however DO NOT SHOP THERE for anything else. I picked out a couple of dish items - an Italian ceramic plate that was marked $12, a condiment set that was marked $6 and a porcelain cake plate that was marked $5. The cake plate had the remnants of a sticker from Home Goods on it, so it was not an antique or anything valuable. When I got to the counter, they told me the price of the item was $15 - not $5...They would not budge, and I almost left it there, but I had spent a lot of time shopping for it, so I took it at the higher price. I am mad now that I did...No other store would do that, if something is price marked a certain price, that is usually what you will pay, regardless of whether or not it was a mistake. In addition to this, they had two Louis Vuitton handbags behind lock and key. I asked to see them both. One of them was marked $35. It was clearly a FAKE - and broken to boot. I could buy a BRAND NEW FAKE for $20. The other was a little better quality, but also a FAKE and they were selling it for $30. Keeping them behind lock and key makes you think they are real. They would not tell you they are fake. I shopped there only because I wanted to do a good thing and thought my money was going someplace useful. Maybe it is, but I find their practices to be deceptive. I won't shop there again. There are too many other options. read more

This location is quite small compared to the one near Paradise Hills. It's also very messy & unorganized in here, so expect the chaos. Pricing isn't bad at all. Love this thrift store! I'll admit, there have been times when I've balked at the prices of the better brand, more modern adult clothing but if you're looking for basics or kid clothes, this is the place to go. Recently, I have filled up two bags of winter clothes for my four year-old son for less than $15. Also in good abundance are seasonal items that San Diegans don't really need unless they're going to the mountains, like hardly used snowsuits for kids for $10-$15. I appreciate their selection of rash guards from brands that you'd pay $35-$40 for retail. I haven't paid more than a few bucks for super-cute swim top/bottom sets for my kids in great condition. As for me, I shop in the "Plus Size" section, which I've noticed on this Monday had tons of lower priced, but still great quality items. Perhaps they jack up their prices closer to the weekend? I've learned to pick out simpler items for a few bucks a piece and add on from off-price department stores when I need something nice. Today I spent $4 on a cute woven top and a denim skirt. Their back section/outside has a mix of neat antique finds and architectural salvage. You can find some interesting stuff back there! I've found two well taken care of, if not a tiny bit dated, car seats for $10-$12 each, a great big French Dutch oven for $10 (had a little enamel chipped away, but gorgeous otherwise) and an Oster blender for $25 (a little much, I know, but in excellent shape.) They have so many odds and ends that I wouldn't know what to list next - you'll just have to see for yourself. A fair warning, however: veteran's is a far cry from your well-lit, neatly organized Goodwill. But I consider the hunt part of the fun. The only reason I am not giving them 5 stars: the parking is extremely limited and the bathroom (the one time I visited it) needed servicing. read more

He walked by me without even looking up and when I finally got his attention he told me I could leave my items in the alley behind the store. He never offered to help me get them out of my car or offer me a receipt. I will never donate here again. Too many other places that will gladly accept my donation. read more

This location has improved by leaps and bounds in the last year. Selection of furniture has been awesome- Some really good vintage stuff, and I've actually found a couple of really rare pieces here at reasonable prices. Clothes selection is useful for costume parties- I've done some pretty sweet pimp and 80s costumes off of the rack here, ROFL. I've found some very good electronic goodies here as well- I bought a really cool AM-FM-Satellite receiver under a bunch of junk, for only $30. This is a good stop on any Saturday morning junking-tour, and the selection is always good now. The key, however, is to get here at opening (9 or 10AM depending)- A lot of resellers from Tijuana buy this place bare by noon. Cool spot. In response to the review below me about the atmosphere and rudeness that was experienced -- it's a thrift store. Learn to deal with the fact that most people who shop and work there are actually poor or senior citizens, and not everyone can shop thrift to be kitschy/indie. (In some cases they attract a lot of crackheads, but that's mostly prevalent in the Point Loma/Downtown stores). Also realize that you're in Chula Vista, literally a few miles away from the Tijuana. Couple that with the said demographic of consumers, and you'll see that thirft stores aren't exactly like shopping at Nordstom or Abercrombie. You live in San Diego; you are going to run into MANY people with Spanish as their first language. I'm going to end that there because it would just become a political tirade from here on out. Moving onto a similar point, I will agree that this is pretty pricey for a thrift store. When I happened to go just recently, their vintage clothing prices weren't that bad. I found a cute vintage dress for $2.99, but usually you'll run into $15-$20 dollar dresses. The people who particularly work at this store must know how some people like to shop there because it's "thrift stores are cool", so I'm assuming that's why they jack up the prices for some of their merchandise. But like any thrift store, you need to have patience for "the hunt" when finding clothes. Stick with that and you can find anything at a good price. read more

It does smell a little funky in there once you come in but despite that they sell some good stuff with good prices! Big store but items are so expensive for a thrift store. They had a glass vase for 2.50 ( the ones from the floral shops) and they sell at goodwill and salvation army for .50 to 1.00. Do they know we are in hard times. That all the stuff they received are donated. Unbelieveable. Rather sad. Many things are not priced or they are written with a red pen that smudges the price and then you have to ask for the price and they look at you as if you did something to the price.. TOO EXPENSIVE!! And today the cashier never gave me my receipt! That's crazy, one small jacket for a baby (Adidas brand) was priced $8.95! That's what you would pay for a new jacket at the Adidas outlet, brand new! I picked up a ladies formal shirt omg, she said it costs $25! Yes it had the tag on and said made in Los Angeles but come on!! What's wrong with yall pricing staff?? Overpricing is not good, that's like Robin Hood stealing in the daylight, except that he stole from the rich, stop stealing from the middle class or poor!! People really don't have that much for used, donated or gifted items. I really like this store and lately I have been noticing a steep increase in majority items. I've been coming here for years and this is the thrift stores of all thrift stores in San Diego County. However, you have to come here regularly to find the stuff. They stock their shelves weekly on Thursdays so if you shop there on Monday, you've missed the boat because the regulars have already swooped up the good stuff. Also, from the surface they price high on the obvious collectible stuff (like the vintage Levi's jacket for $100) but they are also known to underprice things that they don't know about - I have found Cathrine Holm bowls and Dansk Kobenstyle pots for $2.95 in the "junk section" in the back. San Diego locals love this place. Great deals on vintage sewing and linens. The one in Spring Valley is great too (look for the big T). And they also have one in Oceanside. read more

Love coming here, I don't always buy something but I like the hunt for that one treasure. Come here with an open mind, patience, time, and you'll find great things. I've always found nice things here and from what I see they have great furniture finds too but the best ones are usually covered with "SOLD" signs plastered all over them. I've bought a few shirts but they don't have much of a shoe selection for men. Today I bought a genuine leather jacket for men for $4.95 the cashier asked for a price check because its a really nice vintage jacket for so cheap, I'm guessing she thought I switched the tags but clearly I didn't since the woman who prices things told her it was the right price, they priced it too low I'm guessing. If you see something you like buy it or the next time you come here it won't be there, the shoppers here forget their manners while searching for those gems. I don't bother much with the people who work there unless I need to see something in a display case but they are straight to the point. Cashiers are nice tho. read more

There's lots of vintage, Victoria Secret robes, and sexy wear.. just be sure to give them a thorough cleaning. They also had a good selection of dresses, tops, and sweaters, paintings, knickknacks. They were really lacking shorts though, I came in looking for some old shorts to revamp, no luck. I am sad about the other two reviews of this place, they don't get it. I call this "The Thrift Store From God" and I have been shopping here since I was sixteen. This is an amazing thrift store, but if you are freaked out by Chula Vista (where I grew up) or people speaking Spanish, or being poor, then don't go, I guess? Only an experienced thrift shopper would know to recognize this place as a gem. They actually have tons of vintage stuff, year after year, even after I moved away from SD 13 years ago, I visit this place because they always have hella vintage shit. Do you know how hard that is to find now?! Sure, sometimes I spend 2 hours here and come up with nothing, but sometimes it is a total jackpot. When I was in high school my friends and I would fill up shopping carts with vintage clothing here, but those days are over. If you are really into vintage clothes, and having to work for it, digging through tons of crap, then go here, if not, don't. On recent trips I have found complete china sets with kitchy bamboo decals from the sixties, a velvet purse from the 1930s, amazing retro fabrics by the yard, a glittery unicorn t-shirt, amazing furniture that I can't ever buy because I live too far away, rhinstone jewelry from the sixties and lots of other stuff. read more

I am no expert in artwork but was very intrigued by the pricing of most of the artwork (in the hundreds) so I brought two of my friends whose expertise was in this. And yes, secretly hoping that some were actual "finds." They were both flabbergasted at the prices. Most of the pieces were way over-priced, they said that whomever was pricing these art work seemed to merely be pricing them higher, the "older" the piece look and not necessarily because of the true value of the piece. They have always been expensive, but I have noticed over past 5 years the prices have REALLY increased (sometimes reaching the absurd). However, they will bargain at times, especially on furniture. I've collected some great "junk" including vintage clothing/cowboy boots, accessories, antique furniture and awesome art/decor. We strolled in here because my FIL is a major thrift store fiend and he's really good at finding good stuff in thrift stores. I myself had never really been in a REAL thrift store, most because i don't count buffalo exchange as a thrift store. I was excited when walked in because i had heard all these stories about how they found all this awesome stuff in these thrift stores. I was a bit disappointed by the organization but it's totally cool. It didn't bother me too much considering i like shopping at Ross and they're not that well organized either. I strolled into their book section and it was kinda crazy, i didn't really get a change to rummage through all of them but it seemed like an okay selection. I'm all for used bookstores, but i like to have tons and tons of options. I do have to say, i love love love their baby/kid clothes section. My MIL found the cutest onesie for my son (due in july), it was black and said "ABCD i salute all those about to read" and the cutest baby mickey mouse pj's to match me and DH. They have a pretty good selection of stuffed animals in the front next to the register. They seemed really well priced. I can't say about their womens clothes because i didn't look but i WILL be back for more baby clothes. read more

Nordstrom service on minimum wage! From the young man on the floor, the young lady at the register and both managers on duty, I never a got a, "NO". I asked for customized service and they accommodate me every time. I wanted only two drawers in a chest of drawers and offer to pay for the whole chest. They sold me the two drawers at almost half the price of the chest. WOW! I set up delivery and asked for Sat, then asked for a window of time and was given between 8-11am. Perfect! They deliver unlimited number of pieces for only $25, again WOW! When I called today the lady answered, Eileen may I help you. I stated I was in yesterday and am having a few pieces delivered on Sat and before I could say another word she said, yes, Christine. I was taken back that she remembered me. I then asked if she could measure a piece I saw yesterday and said I could call back but she said, she would do it right then If I had a minute to wait. I am so impressed by how sincerely caring and professional this staff works. While working in a Thrift Store where they likely earn minimum wage this staff gives priceless service. read more
