Everyone here is so amazing!! They truly are kind, knowledgeable, and professional. Priti makes us feel like family and gives such special attention to our dog. I took my kitten in for blood work last week and was told I had to come back with my cat sedated in order for that to be done. I have a fear of giving medicine to my cat and expressed apprehension about doing so. I told them I was not sure I could go through with it but decided I had no choice and called to let them know when I got home an hour later. Was told by the staff the doctor was with patients and would call me back. I left multiple messages expexting to be able to book the appointment as per their instructions , but to my dismay instead received an email stating that we are now terminated as patients, including my puppy, Frankie whom they knew was just adopted after we tragically lost our other dog just 3 months ago. I made one last call asking to explain why they removed Frankie from their care but still have not gotten any call back. They have ghosted me. Very unprofessional behavior. read more

I wish I could give 5 stars like I used to. But this place is getting from bad to worse. They failed to put the name & the dose of my dog. I just found out today that she's taking 1.25 mg instead of 5 mg printed on her 1st bottle. It took me a good 30 min to get a pill which cost more than $15 while I pay $17 for 100 tablets in a diff pharmacy. The gal even yelled at me over the phone instead of admitting they were wrong for not printing the correct info on the bottle. It seems the gal who picked up the phone knows nothing like any other animal hospitals. Once I asked if they could give a yr rabies instead of 3 yrs. So I was informed over the phone that they only had 1 yr rabies. But they gave my dog a 3 yr rabies. I was completely confused. I was there last Saturday. I was trying to find out why my dog had to take rabies. Instead of talking to me, the lady, who's oldest in that facility just yelled at me. It appears these gals are lacking proper training. That facility is poorly managed. It seems the management has no leadership whatsoever, but just let the gals in the front run the vets & entire business. It's really a shame. We got 2 great vets in the past yrs. Unfortunately, both left the Westbury site. I have no complaints about our current vet, but it appears the CEO can't keep good vets there. I think the CEO really needs to do something about the Westbury location to improve their service. read more

I have been going to the Village Vets of Westbury for many years, since my dog was very young. Last month my 18 year old dog was no longer able to walk and eventually couldn't sit up, he was in a lot of pain. I had to make the difficult decision to let him go, he was suffering too much. We saw Dr. Li for our last visits and she was very kind and compassionate. She talked me through the process and showed so much empathy. She let me know I was doing what was right for my beloved dog. She helped make this horrible time a little easier. The staff here is also great, always friendly and nice when Maxie and I would visit. I've also seen several of the other doctors in the past and I have no complaints. I will definitely come back here when I decide to adopt another pup. read more

I cannot say enough wonderful things about the staff at this location; they are warm, loving, and provide excellent care for my dog. Following a sick visit, they always reach out to check on my dog and see how she's doing. Plus, they offer advice for at-home care in lieu of a visit whenever possible. They are kind, clear, responsive, and so helpful. My dog loves to hang out with them, whether not feeling well, getting vaccinated, or getting a checkup. In fact, my husband is even a little jealous of how excited our dog gets when it's time to visit, as she pulls and wags her tail to get inside. read more

I have been to several VCG locations and have had positive experiences at mostly all of them. The Westbury location is closest to me but unfortunately I don't like the fact that the vets at this location pushes their products more aggressively than the others. My dog suffers from allergies and I know what has worked best in the past. Despite explaining the the vet that shampoos do not work for us and we did not want to over medicate with both cytopoint and apoquel, everything was pushed onto us and charged. This happened twice! Although I like the convenience of this location I don't think I will be returning. read more

This place has changed management a number of times and been renovated and it still isn't wheelchair accessible. It's a major legal problem and I'm stuck waiting in the cold, rain, snow, or heat unable to be with my dog while he's seen. I dread the day my dog has a serious problem and I can't be there with him. Having at least a ramp would make it accessible to people who use wheelchairs, elderly people with pets, disabled people with service dogs, and older and disabled pets. It breaks my heart to think of a large sick dog having to climb those stairs. The vets and staff are absolutely wonderful! Kind, attentive, and helpful and they do the absolute best they can with the situation, but they shouldn't have to. read more

Almost a month ago we brought our kitten's sample in for a test and were told they would call back the next day with results. No call. Two days later I called them; they said nothing yet but will call when ready. No call. The sixth dayat 5pm I went to the office with receipt and asked for money back. They were juuuust about to call me. At 5pm, Right! I said I wanted one of the doctors or someone of responsibility to call me with an apology and an explanation. No call. I did however get a customer satisfaction survey email asking if I was greeted with a smile. No questions about the pet's health or welfare. read more

Dr Iovino was so caring and sweet , everything was explained to me and I felt as though the Dr cared for Benny as if he was her dog - Troy her assistant was the nicest man to myself and to my dog! Even the receptionists are all so nice and polite- whoever did the hiring sure did pick the perfect mix of employees! The office is brand new and always spotless! Positives: Dr Costa is an amazingly gentle, kind, thorough vet who has been nothing but patient, gentle, and helpful with our cat and dog. He thoroughly explains everything (including options for care) until we feel comfortable and even went out of his way once to drop an antibiotic off at our house because they accidentally forgot to give us all of it when we left. He spoke to us on the phone once about our cat's care with no charge for his time. I can't say enough great things about this guy. He's an amazing human and provider. Any vet office would be beyond lucky to have him. Cons: Office manager and difficulty in getting an appointment for a sick visit as a long time patient of VCG. We called yesterday to get an appt as our cat was having another recurrence of bloody urine. They said they were booked up through the week, which felt unacceptable that they couldn't squeeze us in as loyal long term VCG patients. I called Forest Hills and they got us in at one of their locations as they said something opened up. Today, we just got kicked out as patients by the office manager despite not wanting to leave because we love our vet. My cat was seen at Glen Oaks VCG (separate review pending over there with actual specifics) because they were overbooked at Westbury and she was dealing with recurrent blood in urine. I called Westbury after a very frustrating visit at Little Neck where they didn't examine her because she was "too difficult" (she's been seen and handled just fine for exams and ultrasounds before both on and off an anti anxiety type sedative; I also gave them multiple warnings about her disposition) and was trying to get her examined and seen by someone who could handle her. She's been seen there before by Dr Costa so I was very surprised to be told the same as at Glen Oaks - they have to give her an additional sedative to see her or keep her for the day to see if she'll calm down over the day enough to be examined. I didn't understand why because this was never necessary before in the last 2 years, on or off a sedative we have recently started giving in advance of vet visits. I tried to understand why and was asking questions. The office manager wasn't really explaining well at all why there was a sudden shift in their comfort level of handling her. She gave a multitude of reasons that didn't hold up logically. For example, she stated that it's dangerous for the cat, she could hurt herself. Sure, I get that. But why is it all of a sudden so dangerous? She's been seen for over 2 years by VCG and has been this angry and aggressive every time (on and off gabapentin). No one's mentioned this before. Another explanation given was that it's because the diagnostic tests won't go well if she can't hold still and it might easier to understand if I was present to see how they do it. Ok, fine, I can hear that, hypothetically. Except Dr Costa has done a sonogram in front of me before when she was violent and aggressive and never mentioned current or future need for mild morphine type sedation for a similar type of testing. Those are just some examples. I wasn't necessarily not going to do it, but I wanted to understand the reason for the change. It just didn't make sense to me the drastic change and she didn't seem to be able to explain it. Eventually, the office manager just said that the main office medical board has said that they can't see us anymore because I'm not willing to sedate her. I expressed frustration after having been a patient with our 2 animals for years and clarified I never said I wouldn't do it but I'm just trying to understand the change. She said they were getting rid of us anyway. I asked to speak to Dr Costa or Dr Tsang because maybe they can explain it better and she said please don't contact them because this comes from above them from the medical board who reviewed the case and emphasized again that the medical board stated to part ways with us. I'm honestly in tears. Even if I wanted to go back to this vet that my family loves I would never feel comfortable after how this office manager (and whoever this medical board for VCG is) makes decisions. And I would never feel comfortable taking a referral from them after what happened, either. Please note that I'm ready and raring to update/edit this review to address any lies or misinformation they may post in response here. I'm just beside myself. She made me feel at ease while preparing to have my pup spayed. The front desk staff were all warming and polite and really made me feel relaxed! I am concerned and troubled by an experience I had there this weekend. I helped rescue two dogs who had escaped from a backyard. I raced up to your vet with two dogs in distress, one bleeding from its paws. Another rescuer who had ridden with me frantically jumped out of the car and ran into your establishment, vocally upset. Instead of immediately coming out to help her, your attendants sent her back to the car with a leash! YOUR ATTENDANTS should have been racing out with her, helping her bring in dogs that were strangers to us. I had gotten in touch with the dog owners through the rabies ID company, and the owners met us there. It was almost five minutes before an actual vet came out to see if she could help with the situation. I was flabbergasted that in this chaotic, upsetting moment taking place in front of your building that the doctor would not come out IMMEDIATELY. Unless she was in surgery with an animal, she should have been out there the second the woman ran in. After the vet did a quick assessment of the dogs in the car and made a recommendation about where the owners should bring them, I told her that I was upset about how long it took for her to come out. She said that it's not how things worked and that they had other animals! I appreciate that she did come out eventually and that she looked at the dogs in the car, but I don't feel that the timing was appropriate. The answer I received was unsettling. We raced to the nearest veterinary CARE group because it was the nearest place where we thought we could get help. We were casual passersby who ended up saving two dogs, as they were running in and out of traffic. I have no idea where the nearest animal hospital was- should I have stopped to figure that out rather than bring them to the nearest vet? You should have your staff (who had the audacity to send this woman outside with a leash), in addition to your vets, re-evaulate how they handle emergencies. read more

When I had brought my puppy from where I had purchased him, they had made a deal with another vet for the first year. It wasn't easy to get to for me and they were a little unattentive to say the least. I had heard such great things about Village Vets and was looking forward to bringing my pup there. I'm saddened to say we did not have a good experience. From the moment we walked in we weren't really greeted in a friendly manner. My pup was nervous, and who could blame after his previous vet experiences. I had explained all this to them when I had made the appointment. When we went into the exam room, the vet tech didn't even bother introducing herself. She was just concerned because my pup was barking but she didn't even care to try to get to know him or see how much of sweetheart he is. Then the Doctor came in and same thing no introduction, no how are we doing, nothing. The vet tech and her just eyed my puppy and made us feel like he was some vicious thing which is far from what he is. He's a little mini doxie! They then muzzled him and were just plain rough with him. After all that he felt so uncomfortable and they couldn't get him to relax that they just sent us home and told us to come back the following week. I was very saddened and disappointed at the treatment and approach they took with us. read more

Best vet I've ever been to! The staff at this office are always polite, courteous, and friendly. The facility is clean and easily accessible. The doctors are always knowledgeable and truly show that they genuinely care about the animals as well as their owners. I have brought my two dogs here for the past year and have never had a bad experience. They go out of their way to accommodate customers and are always loving towards my dogs at each visit. absolutely fantastic! Followed (ok. the correct word is stalked, but I'm sure they didn't mind!) Dr. McGowan and Dr. Bruno from their previous employer until I found them at Westbury. I have since also visited their new hospital in Oyster Bay. You would have a hard time finding more compassionate, knowledgable vets; they take as much time as needed to answer your questions, explain a diagnosis, and go over all the options available as well as the side effects and long term expectations. The staff there is great too, very friendly and willing to listen and help as much as they can. Having a "people-iffy" dog makes trips to vet's office stressful not just on me but her too, but it didn't take long until my little monster was wagging her tail as soon as she saw Dr. McGowan. Due to her diagnosis, symptoms, and prognosis I do reach out to them quite a bit (probably more than needed) and/or bring her in fairly regularly to manage health issues. Dr. McGowan is happy to call me back and go over what's going on over the phone in order to determine if a trip in is even necessary, whereas my experience is that many vets would encourage as many office visits as possible to pad their own wallets. I Highly recommend Village Vets, Dr. McGowan and Dr. Bruno and the rest of the team! read more

This is absolutely the worst veterinary office I have ever been to. They only care about making money and not actually making your pet better. They have no care in the world for your time and schedule. The office left me on hold for over a half an hour then tells me they have no appointments after the vet told me days before to call Sunday and they would see me no problem. They don't do any real tests on your pet until they have made you come in several times and waste lots of money there. You never see the same vet twice so you are constantly having to tell them over and over again what the problem is. They are a money hungry business with no souls. Do not come here if you value your pet. read more

I agree totally with former visitors. This veterinary hospital is going to be my 'go to' facility from now on. Being a new patient, my dog received a free examination. Dr. Iovino and her assistant were SO very kind and caring. They explained everything and the final cost for treatment for an ear infection was minimal. No extra fees like so many other vets. The best part was feeling like everyone there cared. My dog's name was even written on a welcome board at the reception area. Just another small touch which added to our experience. I had loved my vet of 10 years, but when my five year-old poodle suddenly became ill, my vet did not seem to know how to treat her. He ran a lot of tests and my dog was hospitalized a few times, but the bloody diarrhea kept recurring and my old vet was suggesting surgery. Fortunately, I found Dr. Wilder. Dr. Wilder listened to the whole history (at this point I had two months of notes!), reviewed all of the test data and suggested a new medication and a change of diet. My dog gradually got better, with fewer attacks for about two months, until the attacks finally ended and she is now completely healthy. I credit Dr. Wilder with being willing to try the newest things but also with frequently checking in on my dog, listening carefully and demonstrating a degree of concern that was amazing. read more

My aunt has been taking her dog to see her for some time now and now, in the event of an emergency, she did nothing but make sure that my family was taken care of when it came to my dog. Village Vets of Westbury is the new owners of the former facility name Westbury Animal Hospital, which was in business for over 50 years. Last year when I came to the former owners, it was a different atmosphere, friendly, caring ect.. The new Village Vets owner vet was nice and the assistant,but I felt like I came to a car dealership instead of a veterinarian's office. When I recently went to the new owners, the medical assistant & vet spent more time trying to persuade me to pay for every vaccination that exists in the world that my dog don't need & medication. When you walk in, the front desk employee immediately ask you to blindly sign an electronic "financial consent" without giving you the hard copy consent form to review first. . If I didn't ask for a copy of the financial consent form , it would not have been offered. I was badgered for more than 20 minutes in the exam room about getting several vaccines my dog did not even need & medications. This happened when the assistant came in alone & after the vet & assistant came in theo office. The vet and assistant gave me an estimate of $265 vs. $525!! Who has $525.00 to pay for an office visit? They were very greedy, I never received tacky treatment like this in my life. I felt as though I was at a car dealership, the way they were trying to hard sell extra vaccines & medications (heart worm 12 month supply/flea ones). They even pressured me to get a flu vaccine for my dog, even though the epidemic is in the West Coast, with scare tactics. There was only one other dog in the office being seen, so a visit that would have typically taken 1 hour, turned into a 2 hour visit due to all thehard selling. Everyone at this office needs customer service training, or they will lose more customers. read more

I've been coming here with our dog for almost 5 years. There was a change in ownership and staff at one point, and then a change in staff again (new new owners?) but as of now the people we see couldn't be nicer or more accommodating. We see different vets at times which is good as we get a different point of view on caring for our Min Pin. Yes, they do want to sell you on some products that you may or may not need but they do not push if you do not want it. Will be boarding him in the near future and will provide an update on how he does. Would suggest you stop in and check out the facility if you are in the area and looking for a nice facility to care for your pet. read more

The current doctor is rude and condescending and they seem to be constantly restaffing. I cannot comprehend what is going on internally but every time I come, there are new people.
