I unfortunately had to lay my dog to rest recently, and they went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable (and even sent us flowers!!). I cannot thank them enough for how well they've taken care of her. Yes they are on the pricey side, but you get what you're paying for 100%.

I like one of the vets very much. I do think that they push some things that are not necessary but…read morethey treat animals well and do good work. They are pricey and they say they are an emergency clinic- which really means they will take new patients on in emergency but they don't have all of the equipment or a 24 hour care staff- so it worked in my situation and I have stayed with them. However they now have a pharmacy so even if you can order the identical medication or flea and tick treatment online they won't give you an Rx you need to use them. They also don't let you hold pets when you know that they will be calmer with you and exams and vaccines will go more smoothly. They are very nice. Make sure if your pet needs a procedure or operation that the vet sends an estimate because I was given a price and walked in the morning of the procedure to learn it was going to be close to $500 more. So if they are convenient they are competent and pleasant but pricey and I don't think that they should insist on using their pharmacy especially for flea and tick medicine that can be found cheaper at multiple online sites and is prepackaged by the company and other very common pet meds. And some pets are calmer and behaved when the owner helps. So if you're looking at quality of care it's good and they are nice.

I'm not…read moresure what Donald Trumps tag line has to do with the fact she canceled my appointment TWENTY minutes before it's scheduled time. The secretary called me as I was fighting traffic with an upset dog in the back seat and said the vet wanted to reschedule my appointment because "I was nervous and the vet would be out of town all weekend and I wouldn't be able to ask questions". First the appointment was for Tuesday so by Wednesday night we would know if anything major happened. Second why did they think I was nervous and am I the first client to ever be nervous. The one time I tried to ask her questions she never answered so I wouldn't be able to get a hold of her even if I wanted to. They claim I was nervous because I rescheduled once and emailed them some questions. I don't think emailing once with questions equals being nervous or even if it does is there a need to change my appointment at the last possible minute. They knew I was coming in for over a month. When I rescheduled I gave them two days notice. Not twenty minutes. And if I am nervous and the vet will be away shouldn't it be up to me to determine if I want her to be around for questions three days after surgery. I called to ask about this and it took all day for the vet to respond and when she did she came out swinging. She must have been having a bad day and I got the full force of it. She gave me a completely different reason than the secretary who called me. And got so mad at me about this. I can't know what is going on at your business. I only know what the secretary called and told me. She wouldn't apologize or help clarify the reasoning and instead said to me "why do you care?" I care because I took off work. Had to prepare my dog for surgery. Had to fight traffic. All to get a call and have to turn around and go home. A professional respected vet would never hang up on anyone. Especially not twice. I didn't yell I didn't call her any names yet she wouldn't not even try to explain herself to me. If this is how she expresses her anger to a human with a question I can only imagine what she is doing to the pets on her table. And her anger is making my dog suffer because now we have to find another vet. And she clearly didn't care about my pet to call and reschedule twenty minutes before our appointment. If I had done that to them oh they would be livid.

He had been going back and fourth to the vet for over a year with constant ear infections with no resolve until this procedure. After many vet and specialist visits, I was at the point of frustration and a high credit card bill. Maryland Veterinary Surgical Services was the first surgical office that explained to me from start to finish on what was to be expected for my cat. We discussed all the pros and cons to the point where I felt comfortable with moving forward with procedure. Other places that I talked to rushed me and it felt like they could care less if I chose them or not. MVSS was affordable and the customer service was stellar! Actually everyone working in the office was super nice and comforting. Dr. Walesby is amazing! Overall, I had a great experience with MVSS and would use them again if needed. I've referred a few friends who had pets that needed surgical services to this location as well!

I recently learned they charge 3 times what other vets in the area…read morecharge, and unlike in the past (when a smaller operation), the service isn't even as good. It's just costlier. They literally charge for the smallest of "conveniences", ones that should be part of good care (and don't tell you up front- you just get charged). I was suspicious but since I'd taken my pets there for MANY years (across owners) I was just continuing for convenience. My fault for being "lazy"- but take heed from my experience and shop around for care! The quality doesn't justify the overcharge...

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Hickory Ridge Animal Hospital…read more While the veterinary care itself may be fine, the front desk staff was shockingly unprofessional and lacking in basic compassion. My dog was visibly anxious and struggling to settle in an already stressful environment. Instead of showing understanding, I overheard front desk staff making comments to one another about my dog, assuming I couldn't hear them. They were laughing under their breath and remarked that their dog would never need to be muzzled like mine. As a pet owner doing my best to manage a nervous animal responsibly, that was humiliating and unnecessary. What was especially concerning is that I was asked to muzzle my dog in the lobby while he was already showing signs of distress. Doing so in a crowded space only escalated the situation and created a potential safety concern for anyone nearby. Muzzling is a valid safety tool, but how and when it's handled matters -- and this was not handled appropriately. A veterinary office should be a place where pet owners feel supported, especially when their animals are struggling. Compassion and professionalism are not optional in this field. Unfortunately, neither was demonstrated by the front desk staff during my visit. I truly hope management addresses this, because no client -- or animal -- should be treated this way.

Despite me typing up a whole instruction sheet, he insisted on walking through again just to be sure (which is very reassuring). The actual pet sitting was spectacular. The pet sitter who was assigned was Kim. She spent plenty of time with the cats and made sure they were well cared for while I was away. The visit reports they leave are really cute as well. Could not have gone smoother! I'd also like to add that they were available with very short notice (3 other pet sitting companies were unable to handle our request). Also want to add that Stewart (when he came for the home visit) was wearing a mask and gloves to protect against COVID (a welcome sight). Pet owners would should have their minds at ease if they select Love Those Paws. If I go on vacation again (few and far between these days) I would definitely use them again!

The sitters vary but all are enthusiastic based on the reports they leave. After every visit the sitter leaves a note of when they came and left and what they did. The sitter stays a while after the food, water, and paper are changed to make sure the birds aren't acting weird, and I hear that some singing goes on. We've never had a problem and have be accommodated at very short notice when we want to go away for the weekend. I highly recommend this company. 1/27/20 Update: Just used them again during a ten day trip to Hawaii. I'm pretty sure our birds are in love with Alex, who came for most oF the visits. Now they are just stuck with us. As always, a great experience and we love being able to travel without any worries.
