Although the techs and vet were kind to our dog, we had some issues while we were there and I can't recommend that anyone take their dog here. They took x-rays of our dog and gave him fluids in a timely manner which was great but everything after that was down hill. After they took the x-rays, they told us that he would probably need surgery to remove his partial blockage, but because of how much it would cost, we were not going to be able to do it with them. We were already spending around $1,200 dollars just for the x-rays and the fluids. When we mentioned looking for another hospital to take him to, they said that although he wasn't showing any signs of aspiration pneumonia, they were worried that if we waited any longer, he would get it. We understood the concern but he wasn't showing any signs so we kept looking for another hospital, which we found around 20 mins after they said this. When we told them we were going to take him somewhere else, all the sudden they said that he did have pneumonia and they needed to give him IV antibiotics right away. They didn't do more x-rays to figure this out, they just all the sudden said he had it, although his behavior had not changed at all. Because we didn't know any better, we let them give him the antibiotics and paid another $100 for them. After that was done, we kept asking to leave because we had made an appointment for him somewhere else and they told us we had to wait because the Dr. was in the middle of a procedure. We continued to sit there and wait until we really had to get to the appointment we had made and I asked someone else to discharge us and she did so right away, we never even talked to the dr. again. I'm really not sure what happened there but it seemed like they just had us waiting there during a very critical time for us and our dog. This whole time they made us feel guilty for taking him somewhere else, like we were doing the wrong thing. At the next place we took him took, the dr. looked at the X-rays VEG had took, he told us he did NOT have aspiration pneumonia and still was not showing any signs of it. It really just seemed like they were trying to get the most money out of us and weren't even kind. read more

After another ER told me to leave Oliver and go home while he waited 5 hours in a kennel and never seen, I brought him to VEG and everything changed. Dr. Sauerwein and her emergency team were amazing--competent, caring, empathetic and professional. I was stressed and terrified as Oliver was withdrawn and wincing in pain, she immediately evaluated him and gave me a clear plan so I knew what to expect. The open-concept emergency room let me stay with Oliver the whole time so we were never separated, and I was able to see what was going on the entire time. Dr. Leah Sauerwein's confidence and compassion put me at ease. They took exceptional care of Oliver and made a very scary situation so much more manageable. I took my dog there who seemed to have something stuck in her throat. She had been eating grass the previous day and a few hours later started some hacking, sneezing, as trying to expel something. I explained this to three employees at VEG, including the vet who attended her. I thought if they looked in her throat they might see something. They were not interested in what I had to say, took some expensive X-rays of her abdomen and chest and announced she probably had kennel cough and sold me an antibiotic. The vet did notice something I hadn't seen, a little blood sneezed out the right nostril. The vet said that was something different going on, kennel cough should not lead to nose bleed. Nevertheless, the vet did not seize upon that observation, unfortunately. The coughing and sneezing went on and the dog visibly suffered at times. Three days later we noticed something sticking out of her right nostril. I pulled it and a seven inch blade of grass emerged! After that she was fine. If the vet had looked in her throat as I begged her to do three days earlier we would have cured the poor dog immediately and avoided the costly X-rays. read more

Two stars only because the woman I spoke to on the phone was super helpful and warm. They have rotating vets so I can't speak to the other vets who are on call, but the one we saw is the reason for the bad experience. Brought my dog in who was showing early signs of a possible infection, wasn't sure what, but was given a quote of $1,200 worth of testing right out of the gate. When I mentioned that I wouldn't be able to afford that right away, can't we work on a few things to eliminate possibility, the mood instantly changed to cold indifference. I'm sorry, the $1,200 was not even including any additional care that may be needed (ie overnight stay, surgery, antibiotics, other meds), and not having a disposable income, I'm going to ask if we can rule anything out before doing the whole shebang. As anyone knows, stuff adds up fast. I love my boy and I'd do a lot to save him...was just asking for some preliminary work. I approved 3 of the tests and then it was "I wish you would have approved this because then we'd know for certain"....I'm sorry, blood, chemistry, and electrolytes were the top three she recommended so we did that. His white blood count was high, so she put him on antibiotics and I am relieved to say it cleared up. But she also only gave me 3 days worth of antibiotics because she "knows I'm on a budget". Only took blood after I paid for it, and it was a half day worth of waiting when they weren't super busy. A kitten with a cornea scratch got more care and attention than we did. This is not caring veterinary medicine. The way we were treated by that vet has solidified that I will never go back or recommend this place to anyone. read more

We brought our guinea pig in last night. Even though he's little, he is beloved part of our family. He had somehow gotten a necklace caught around his teeth and lodged in his mouth. We didn't have to wait at all when we arrived and Dr Sauerwein was able to quickly dislodge it. She told us there was no charge and to just have a Merry Christmas. I liked how it's all happening right there- very transparent.. A big difference from a certain Vet office that wouldn't let me come in during the pandemic and for too long afterwards. My pet was taken care of immediately-great customer service- you can tell everyone there cares about the animals. Really confused by the good reviews here. Yes they're available 24 hours but the pricing is astronomical and you have to prepay. Also there is no changing what they say the pet needs. For example yes my cat was in pain but he was very calm and they wanted to give him a sedative and a pain medication. They say the sedative will knock him out so why does he also need a pain med?? Regardless why does he need a sedative when he's been nothing but calm and cooperative. And a reversal for the sedative? He's just going home. We can take a sleeping cat home. He sleeps at home. I would not say the staff is nice or knowledgeable enough to look past that. Also we were the only pet in the place and they took FOREVR to come give him that pain med that he supposedly needed so bad. Like literally sitting here not seeing one other animal and listening to the staff just chat about nonsense. We did get a refund for whatever they didn't end up doing which was reversing his sedative. Go figure. All I can hope os that my insurance claim goes through and I can find an affordable surgeon for my cat read more

WOW! 10s! 10s across the board! I was not looking forward to spending countless hours in the vet ER in the middle of the night. But, from my first phone call, the staff were so helpful and kind. I took my sick kitty in at 9pm and had called prior. I was triaged on the phone by a vet and told that there would be a wait due to some critical pets. I went in with the mind set that my girl was stable and we would probably be there awhile. The staff immediately triaged us when we walked through the door and let us know that the kitty looked good but they wanted to run tests. I got an immediate quote on price and Dr. Kelly was very transparent. The entire staff was friendly, informative and kind. They answered all my questions and kept me updated even though they were very busy. Just FYI, this is one huge open room where they take care of all the animals. They have side rooms for family's to stay in. I just can't recommend this place enough. Katie RVT and Dr. Kelly were the best. So I have a sweet 10 month old puppy who like most puppies is determined to give his parents a heart attack. After playing at the dog park my dogs eyes and mouth started swelling up. Last year, our sweet Daisy Mae developed a massive mast cell tumor in a very short period of time. It was Labor Day weekend, so we weren't able to get into our normal vet to get an opinion as to whether we should let her go. We went to VEG and they were so welcoming, assuring, and compassionate. They gave us their helpful medical input and guidance. Didn't charge me anything for their time and even provided us with a list of local in-home euthanasia providers. On one of our very worst days, they helped us to make the best decision for her without guilt. I cannot express how much that meant to me. Truly amazing, I brought in my senior fur baby who has heart disease. They immediately helped us and began treating her and we were able to leave in 24 hours with our little girl. Absolutely Appalling Experience - Avoid This Clinic at All Costs If I could give this place zero stars, I would. My fiancé and I came to this emergency vet clinic in one of the most heartbreaking moments of our lives--knowing we had to say goodbye to our beloved 15-year-old dog after he suffered multiple seizures. Instead of receiving compassionate, professional care, we were met with chaos, incompetence, and outright disregard for both our dog's suffering and our emotional state. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that this clinic lacked basic professionalism. Despite calling ahead to inform them of our emergency, no one greeted us or helped open the doors as we carried our seizing, suffering dog inside. We were placed in an exam room where we were left to wait while our dog continued to decline, with NO medical intervention to stabilize or sedate him. Instead of prioritizing his comfort, the staff seemed more focused on bureaucratic paperwork--slowly creating an "account" for us while we helplessly watched our dog struggle. The vet tech, though kind, was clearly inexperienced and unprepared. She had me--someone in distress--assist in holding my dog's leg as she struggled to place an IV, fumbling with tape and bandages in a way that was deeply unsettling. No vet should be relying on grieving owners to assist with medical procedures. And still, after all this, we were left waiting, with no communication on what was taking so long, while we could see staff casually walking around outside the room through the glass doors. When I stepped out--twice--to demand an update, I was met with vague explanations and additional paperwork requirements that should have been made clear from the start. To make matters worse, when the euthanasia procedure finally happened, I was outside the room, unknowingly discussing documentation with the vet tech. The vet took it upon herself to begin without ensuring I was present, and I MISSED my dog's final moments. That is something I will NEVER get back, and it is unforgivable. To add to this nightmare, as we left the clinic, we saw our dog's lifeless body through the window--because the staff had left the blinds open for anyone in the parking lot to see. The lack of sensitivity, communication, and professionalism in this clinic is beyond disturbing. We understand that emergency vets deal with difficult situations every day, but that does not excuse their dismissive, unempathetic, and inefficient approach to care. This place failed us in every possible way. If you love your pet and want them to be treated with dignity in their final moments, do not bring them here. Turned a nightmare into the best possible scenario. Our dog was neutered by our regular vet that led to internal bleeding. I ended up at VEG the day before thanksgiving and spent the next 36 hours there due to a required complicated surgery. Every single staff member went above and beyond to make both my dog and me as comfortable as possible. The doctors were extremely knowledgeable and the team who did the surgery was phenomenal. The medical director even drove from Temecula at 11pm to oversee the surgery which lasted well past 1am thanksgiving day. I can't begin to thank the entire staff at VEG enough. They even had thanksgiving dinner brought in and offered to make a plate for their patient's humans They saved my beloved dog's life and I'm forever grateful! read more

I took my dog to this emergency clinic one night after she developed severe bloody diarrhea, as my regular veterinary practice was closed. I accepted the recommendation for bloodwork, which was the only diagnostic test offered. Afterward, the vet informed me that everything was normal, including no severe dehydration and that she didn't have HGE. I was advised to take my dog home with oral medications and follow up with a fecal test at my general practice. However, after returning home, my dog's condition rapidly declined. I was up all night monitoring her and rushed her into my regular vet in the morning, where we discovered she had a highly concerning fever of 105°F. Repeat bloodwork revealed that she had hemorrhagic gastroenteritis (HGE) and critically low electrolytes--contradicting the "normal" results reported by the emergency clinic (VEG). HGE can be fatal if not treated with emergency hospitalization, including IV fluids and medications. Additionally, the clinic notes falsely stated that I had declined x-rays and other treatments, which were never offered to me. The dismissive attitude of the vet that night put my dog's health at serious risk, and I am deeply disappointed with the care received. This situation could have turned out much worse if not for the prompt care provided by my regular vet. read more

Can't recommend this place enough! They have such an amazing staff that walked us through every step of the process and made us feel extremely comfortable. I was able to stay overnight in a room with my dog while she was being treated. They even have couches/futons in the rooms so that you and your pet are comfortable. They were extremely transparent with pricing and explained every part of the treatment plan. I was able to stay with my dog for the duration of her care, but if you have to leave them, this is absolutely a place I would feel comfortable doing that. I'm shocked there are any negative reviews at all. I had a great experience and the other pet owners there at the same time as me also appeared to really trust the staff. read more

Zero stars if I could. Stay far away, Especially if you have reptiles. Dr Sarah Hoggan couldn't care less about reptiles. She is not educated on them enough to be a doctor. I waited 5+ hours because she kept attending everyone else walking through the doors before me.. only to give me 1 piece of advice in the end. She even said she'll send me home with a bag of nutrient filled food, only to end up telling me to take a photo of it to buy it later. She wasted hours of my time and discriminated against reptiles. She is very unknowledgeable and shouldn't be a doctor. You cant have bad customer service and be bad at your actual job. $200 for nothing. Everyone else was great though. Wow. My 2 dogs got into a fight and 1 got bit pretty bad. When I took her in they told me it was going to be $4,800 to stitch her up which was ridiculous "it was a small puncture wound" I called our friend who is a large animal vet. She came over, sprayed this stuff called silver honey into the hole then packed it in with sugar. After that she used horse wrap to conceal the wound. I'm sure this company doesn't want you to know that this remedy was about $30 and the dog was fine the next day 2 days go by and I get a call from animal control for negligence for my dog. What's joke these people are. It's like they are the Mafia trying to strong arm you into using them. read more
