Feels much better after the fantastic care at the VEG Oceanside
    Lesly A.

I walked in with my nearly 5-year old doodle, Lincoln, in my arms, his heart was racing. Dr. Emma Smith overheard me and immediately came with stethoscope in hand. She and the vet techs went to work right away with meds and monitors. I was scared and impressed all at the same time. They made sure to monitor him and ensured I was comfortable and afforded privacy when I needed it. I was there long enough to observe their care of the other pets brought in that night. Cannot recommend VEG Oceanside enough. The only place to take a pet in need of emergency services. Thank you to Dr. Emma Smith for taking immediate action and all of her team

I have been to VEG in Oceanside twice now, both times on weekends when my regular vet was closed, and I honestly could not be more grateful this place exists. Walking into an emergency vet is always stressful, but the staff here immediately made things feel calmer. Everyone at the front desk and the techs were kind, patient, and never made me feel rushed or silly for being worried. We saw Dr. Leah Sauerwein, and she was amazing. She explained everything in a way that actually made sense, talked through options, and made sure I felt comfortable with the plan. You can tell she really cares, not just about the pets, but about the owners too. That level of trust is huge when you are dealing with something unexpected. Both visits were smooth, professional, and compassionate from start to finish. I left feeling informed, supported, and confident in the care my pet received. I would absolutely come back if I ever needed emergency care again, and I would recommend this location to anyone in the area.

My dog Spec was attacked by my roommate's pit bull. The first emergency vet I called said it would be 5 to 6 hours before Spec could be seen. VEG Oceanside was able to see Spec right away. I loved their open plan where my dog was always with me. We had to wait for a second vet to come in before starting treatment, but Spec was then stitched up with care and precision, a process that took over 2 hours. Due to complications, we spent the night for observation. We were given a private room with a couch opened into a bed. My other, uninjured dog was also welcomed. The care we were provided was the best I've ever witnessed. The support I received was amazing. Every single vet and support person was excellent. They ensured we received not only veterinary care, but snacks, drinks and water. And a phone charger. This event was one of the most traumatic of my life. VEG helped make a horrific experience into a positive one and helped save Spec's life. Thank you!!!

I brought my pup Eugene in because he wouldn't stop throwing up. The team at Veterinary Emergency Group went over all of the treatment options at different price points and clearly explained the benefits and risks of each one. They were extremely friendly, accommodating, and truly cared about my fur baby. X-rays showed he had an obstruction, and we made the decision to operate sooner rather than later which we're so grateful for, because there's no way he would have been able to pass it on his own. Both the morning and night shift doctors and nurses were incredible. Every single person we interacted with was kind, attentive, and genuinely caring. I chose to stay with Gene overnight, and they set up a little room with a pull-out couch, complete with sheets and a pillow. They let me be as involved as I wanted and never once made me feel like I was in the way or asking too many questions. They even brought me a heater at night, and one employee gave my husband the chair he was sitting on when we went to ask if there was one available. The doctors and nurses explained every step of the process in a way that made us feel informed and supported. We also asked if we could split the payment between multiple cards (which some places don't love), and they were incredibly understanding, no judgment, no pressure. We are so grateful for VEG and the amazing staff at the Oceanside location. They took such great care of Eugene and of us. Highly recommend.

    A healthy Lucy :)

Our dog Lucy had a life-threatening emergency and I rushed her to VEG late at night. From the moment we walked in, the team moved fast and with purpose. They had her stabilized quickly and kept me informed every step of the way. What stood out most was the compassion. They took the time to explain everything clearly and were genuinely sensitive to the financial stress that comes with emergency vet visits. You could tell this team actually cares about the animals and the families behind them. Lucy made a full recovery and I'm so grateful. If you ever find yourself in an emergency with your pet, these are the people you want on your side. I can't recommend VEG highly enough.

I had a great experience at Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) while visiting my parents for the holidays from the Bay Area. Our family cat accidentally scratched my French Bulldog's eye, and the team at VEG was incredibly attentive and efficient. They quickly examined her eye, explained the diagnosis clearly, and came up with a thoughtful care plan. Their space is large, open, and very clean, which helped make a stressful situation feel more comfortable. It was late at night, cold, and raining, and I really appreciated the small touches like offering snacks and coffee. I also witnessed how genuinely caring the staff was with other pets and their owners who came in. Since I'm far from home and our regular vet, they also emailed the records from this visit directly to my vet so I can follow up once we're back home. I'm very grateful for the care they provided.

By far, the best place to take your dog for urgent care or oncology needs (if you see Dr. Proulx)…read more I've been taking my dog here for just over a year for quarterly consultations with Dr. Proulx. My 11 year old dog has a history of very aggressive MCTs, and Dr. Proulx has helped us put him on a fantastic regimen that has prevented any new tumors from appearing for 15 months, while minimizing dosages for steroids. Dr. Proulx is incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and kind. He answers all of my questions thoughtfully, even when I call from home because I'm a nervous dog mom. We just took my dog to the urgent care this weekend, and it was a great experience. I called in advance to say I was coming up, and they were able to see him right away. They had great bedside manner, thoroughly explained our options for next steps, proactively provided cost transparency, and offered follow up appointments. They also helped me prioritize what was needed so I could decide what to schedule with my pcp to save some money - it's clear they aren't trying to take advantage of you! We saw Dr. Vezeleva, and I can't recommend her enough. When we were done speaking with the care staff, I asked the front desk if I could take my dog to the car to wait while they filled a prescription for me - they immediately brought him out so he could wait comfortably, and they even met me at my car to get me when everything was ready so that the end process as seamless as possible.

BE WARY OF THIS VET!!!…read more Took my cat here, told the doctor I was worried he was blocked and had a UTI. The doctor dismissed this and insisted he was not peeing due to anxiety/stress. They had me wait in the waiting room for hours on end, and after hours of waiting on my cat(who was in critical condition), I asked for an update and they said it would be a couple more hours. When I got him back, it seemed like he was kept in his crate and not monitored. They charged me for the checkup ($180), tests and medicine, no X-rays... They did not give me the results for the test until I called and asked the next day. They also were supposed to fill a prescription that never happened. That was about $700. Again, told me it was STRESS that affects his ability to pee. We go to another vet and they immediately find crystals in his urine and know he is blocked. He also has a UTI. He could've died. Waste of money and time. Lots of other people have said their pets of died because of the care here. Sad as fuck.

I immediately gravitated towards her because she had a way of explaining things that made sense to me. We stayed in touch even after puppy graduation and I would text her from time to time to ask questions or stay in touch. I found her on social media and loved her training information. Then when my now 1.5 year old puppy was full grown and became harder to manage we got back in touch and she'd offer suggestions. Finally when she neared the age of 2 I realized I needed professional help Amillie came in and once again explained things even on our first session in a way I could understand and broke down behaviors for me. I actually have 2 giant breed Greater Swiss mountain dogs and she has helped me with training both of them. Mainly frustration reactivity for my younger female "puppy" and then being able to successfully loose leash walk both of them together (2 strong willed and physically strong, with a combined weight of ~200 lb) female dogs. Each time we meet I leave with so much information. She's been great and I only wish we started training them with Amillie when my girls were younger. You won't regret this partnership or Amillie's expertise. Training comes natural to her. It's a gift and that's with me already having had 2 large breed independent dogs before working with her!
