The practice also has a cardiologist. The Internist has seen two of my cats; the cardiologist has seen one of them. The front desk and the vet assistants are efficient, informed, and conscientious. We took our cat to Premier Vet Group, 3927 W Belmont Ave, Chicago; he was whisked to a back room due to open mouth breathing. We were periodically informed of costs for tests, etc. during our 5+ hours in their freezing cold facility. Eventually they determined, after bloodwork, xrays, ultrasound and more, our cat had asthma and should stay overnight for observation. The bill for Monday was approximately $1700 and it would be an additional $1800 for overnight observation. I declined the overnight observation, agreed to our cat being given fluids prior to taking him home, he had been sedated due to being upset with what was being done to him. It was decided that the prednisolone our cat received for pemphigus foliaceus should be increased and follow up with our vet. Once we took our cat home and he relaxed overnight his breathing improved a little but he was sneezing and his nose was congested. On Wednesday 07-08-2026 I spoke to our regular vet, she said I could pick up doxycycline for $13.00 to treat our cat for 6 days and bring him in 07-15-2026. Our cat's nose cleared up and he was generally back to normal by the time I took him in on 07-15-2026 and after the vet examined him she couldn't find a sign of asthma and we continued to reduce the amount of prednisolone back to what he had been on for his autoimmune condition. In the meantime Premier kept texting and emailing me for a review; I sent a message that before I left a bad review they should contact me, they never did. As a lifelong cat owner, I understand that tests need to be done but it is also important to listen to an owner and actually examine the animal, see that it's nose is congested and prescribe accordingly. I will NEVER return to "Premier" Vet Group or suggest anyone take their pet there. If necessary, I will chose an Emergency Vet that at the very least lets the owner be with their pet during a 5+ hour scary experience that probably made him worse overall because he was scared! We started seeing Dr Merenda in March and I am so grateful we did! Everyone takes a lot of time and is so gentle and careful. My dog still doesn't like going to the vet but I can get him in the door easily, we aren't treated like nuisances (the complete opposite! ), my dog is getting careful and thorough examinations, his arthritis is FINALLY being treated with more than just gabapentin, and also everyone's just really nice. Our visits take place with everyone sitting in the floor because that's where the dog is comfortable. The best.

But since this is the health of our fur babies on the line Id like to share my experience if you are considering Oz Animal Hospital to bring your cat to. Back in August 2025, Vets at Oz animal hospital told me my 8 year old cat Willow had fluid building up around her heart and around her stomach. They urged me to rush her to the ER. I did so and spent 14 hours in the ER with willow. Where we ran every test imaginable to find there was not fluid building in any part of her and the fluid around her stomach was FAT. Yes fat. Willow was about 12 pounds at the time but are you serious? She had other things going on so the ER ended up working out for willow but, we started in a very wrong direction after Oz had led us to check her heart and abdomen for fluid first. I spent close to 5K that day. Oz called to do a check on willow a few days later and i explained that the findings from their male vet ( i don't know his name) were very off and led me and the ER to believe my cat was in immediate life threatening danger. They said they would call me back. I never heard back. Still i returned to Oz animal hospital. asking to not see the same vet. Where i came across another vet and although her kindness and care was visible she told me she was scared willow was going to go into HEART FAILURE and that she had fluid in her lungs. As a student who ran out care credit i simply couldn't afford the ER fees on top of taking willow to a specialist. so despite her urging me to take willow to the ER something told me not yet and we scheduled an appointment at VSC for 2 days later. I stayed with willow those 2 days monitoring her behavior and having everyone in the family check on her. At VSC they explained willow was definitely not going into heart failure and she definitely doesn't have fluid in her lungs. Oz had also tried to urge me to give willow an injection medicine that would've drained the fluid but it's damaging to kidneys. Being that there was NO FLUID?? i don't even know what i would've put her through just for the wrong diagnosis. This time I called Oz and explained the entire situation AGAIN. Not putting my frustration on the nice workers at the front desk and asking for a manager to call me back. No one ever called back. I now ask how can this place can have 2 different Vets tell me my cat was going to basically die and i needed to rush her to the ER and spend thousands of dollars for them to be WRONG. Like very wrong. Both times. I get no one is perfect and they aren't specialist. But if your doctors are so unsure that their only aid is to push you off to another place of care for your pet. Why even go here in the first place? I share so when thinking of bringing your cats here and if they tell you your cat is going to die, go into heart failure or stop breathing please get a second opinion ( I hope you don't have to pay a million dollars for that cause I did) or just avoid their opinion in general. Willow has a new primary :) and we will not be coming back. Everyone here was very kind tho. I just wouldn't trust their medical advice. My dog had an emergency which required us to spend several hours at the location in Lincoln Park. While we waited for blood work results, my dog and I sat in the general triage care room and saw how owners were encouraged to stay with their pets while they were being treated and in some cases, operated on. I can say firsthand, what an impressive team of doctors and vet techs, who are wiling to put their work and skills on display. My dog was in late stage renal failure and we did not have long, but the team was professional, informative, engaged in a solution, calming, empathetic, and kind as we learned of his diagnosis. They were extremely supportive in helping plan end of life for my sweet Milo. I can't recommend this facility and team enough.

Dr. Joshi has been amazing with my almost 15 year old Husky Golden girl. Her examination was VERY comprehensive, as she took the time to thoroughly evaluate all of Cleo's health issues. Dr. Joshi's education, experience, and knowledge are very impressive and she clearly loves her profession. She followed through with emails and her awesome technicians showed us the cost options associated with the proposed treatment plan. Best of all, this is the first time Cleo has not been stressed out at an animal hospital.

I had to call multiple times for them to give me instructions and a drop off time for my cat's dental surgery - which was no surprise since I've had to remind them to fill prescriptions in the past few months. When they finally responded, they left off the drop off time. They didn't tell me the drop off time until minutes before it happened, and when I requested to delay it so she could take her pre-appointment meds, they declined. Not wanting to throw away my $500 deposit, I took her anyway. Then, when she developed constipation from her pain meds, instead of advising me on how to manage her pain, they consulted a different vet at the practice who wanted me to bring her in for more tests. I wish I'd thrown away the deposit just to avoid this vet. If this is how they treat their long-term clients nowadays, I would hate to be a new customer.
