By the time I drove him to Purdue University ER small animal hospital and got the help he needed even they looked at the records and questioned Plainfield's staffs every move and decision just like I did besides 1 damn thing which was my 100% respectfully letting them know he would be receiving some SQ fluids due to severe dehydration and he's 10lbs....so the one thing the owner insisted on which these crooks charged almost $70 for the small SQ fluids. My first Pomeranian lived til 16 and I took her for over a year for Q Fluids 2x a week at vet in an amazing city Munster, IN and her and I would be in and out and 25 mins tops and it was $12-15. $70 for fluids is why so many poor owners and the poor pets suffer because they have no way of ever saving or helping their poor pet simply bc places like this only care about the $$ not your animals. It was so scary. And they put him on an antibiotics even though both blood work results he'd already had recently showed zero signs or symptoms of infection nor eating much at all nor drinking so he wouldn't even take it anyways but another way to have me pay more. Purdue ER said to not even give it to him bc it was 109% unnecessary. They also told me to put him on pain medication that come to find out it put him in more danger!!!! THIS PLACED SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN!

Thankfully, her…read moreinjuries seemed minor, and I was told she had scrapes and bruising but no puncture wounds or bleeding, so no treatment or antibiotics were needed. Later that night, my dog became very stiff and sore and limping slightly. I chalked this up to the altercation and that the adrenaline had worn off. The next morning she was better but i called to ask about getting her something mild for pain, and that's when I found out my dog had not actually been seen by a vet, I was told she would need to come back in for a veterinary exam before any medication could be prescribed. Looking back, I probably should have confirmed who was evaluating my dog (maybe i was told but forgot) and i should have asked more questions about pain management. Still, I was frustrated that a vet was not consulted before we left and that pain relief wasn't part of the standard care after something like this. Expecting me to bring my dog back again less than 24 hours later for something that felt pretty predictable was disappointing.

Our dog partially tore her CCL last November so we scheduled a consult with Dr. Przywara. Right from the start we knew we were in great hands. He did his initial observation of our dog and then came to talk to my husband and I. He was so kind and reassuring, and he was INCREDIBLY thorough. He sat with us for over 45 minutes explaining the anatomy of a canine knee, the injury our dog had, the options to fix it, and answering any and all questions we had. He never pressured us into anything and helped to give us the information we needed to make the right decision. Although we tried a few nonsurgical therapeutic options first, we ultimately decided to do TPLO surgery in February in an effort to get our girl back to 100%. Dr. Przywara did a fantastic job. He and his whole surgical team kept us informed and gave very good and detailed instructions for recovery. They made a tough recovery so much easier. Our girl is now 9 weeks post TPLO and is almost back to 100%! At the end of our final recheck appointment when thanking Dr. Przywara for all of his work with us and Kona, he said "this is why I got into this profession - to help good dogs and good people." And THAT tells you everything you need to know - he's the exact kind of vet you want taking care of your dog!

I called ahead of time to check on pricing for the exam, etc., and one of the Vets answered and was so kind and patient while I explained what was going on. She reassured me they would walk me through a treatment plan we could handle after I brought her in. When I got there, I was met with the warmest, kind, helpful energy from every single person who worked there. From the person who did our intake, to the techs who did her initial vitals and administered her IV later on, (and cleaned up her mess on the way out - TY) to the Vet herself, I felt more than comfortable that they had my girls best interest in mind but were also realistic with what I could spend and how far we wanted to go with her care considering that she's 15.5 years old. After the vet examined her, I was sent a quote via email I could approve via my phone, and while I paid cash, they have an instant link you can pay for your services via credit card through email as well, which I found amazingly efficient and made what I was spending and what was included crystal clear so there was no anxiety about hidden costs. (I also found this place to be INCREDIBLY reasonable in their pricing compared to the other Vets I've gone to in the city). Special shoutout to the tech with the amazing mustache and the woman who administered her IV.... He was down on the floor, with my pup's head in his lap, petting her and saying the sweetest, most reassuring things while the other tech also just gave her such praise that we got some little exhausted tail wags out of her during what couldn't have been a comfortable process. It was just what we both needed in that moment, so thank you both so, so much. I was calm but pretty emotional, and I just felt safe coming here and would 100% come here again if needed, and recommend that anyone facing something like this with their fur baby come here too. The entire experience was quick, efficient, and again.... the kindness and genuine love they showed my baby was all I needed to know to feel comforted during a stressful moment. Happy to report the treatment she received has dramatically improved her condition in just a day, so overall it was a 10/10 experience.

Recently our boy Finn dislocated his hip and needed surgery to fix it. We called every VCA around and everyone was booked, it was also a Saturday so that was understandable. Aurora was the last VCA on our list because it's an hour and a half southeast of our home. So we called to see if we could get him in, we were told yes but it was a 2-3 hour wait because they were packed as well. We waited because our Finn is worth the wait. Finn got in to see a doctor, they ran all of their tests/X-rays and kept us informed every step of the way. We eventually got into a room and were given the results along with all the options and costs, they were very professional and informative. We decided to wait until Monday to make an appointment for surgery, otherwise we would have had to pay the "weekend fees/rates. We called Monday to schedule an appointment for surgery. Surgery was scheduled for Tuesday. Tuesday morning we dropped off Finn and his food; we were told they would call us before and after surgery and again before bedtime, and they did. We arrived Wednesday afternoon to pick Finn up and we were given all of his paperwork and meds, then we instructed on what to look out for during the healing process and how to use his meds and to call if we needed anything and to schedule an appointment with our VCA for a follow up. From beginning to end Aurora Animal Hospital crushed it!, Knocked it out of the park!, and exceeded our expectations!!!! Great Job Aurora VCA Staff and Thank You!! The receptionists, vet techs, doctors--all wonderful--professional, warm, welcoming--and all took the time to carefully explain every part of the process, from the first appointment, diagnosis, surgery, recovery, financing, etc. Dr. Peacock is everything you'd want your vet (or your own doctor) to be. He is a highly experienced surgeon--and doctors at that level often lack the "bedside manner" so crucial to clear communication and a healthy doctor/patient/patient's family relationship. Dr. Peacock dispelled all those concerns the moment he walked in the room. He is warm and down to earth. He was so helpful--examining our dog, explaining the issue and appropriate procedure--and answering all of our questions (some of which we likely asked more than once) with patience, kindness, and candor. I can't express enough how positive the entire experience was. Every single person made us feel comfortable, confident in our dog's care, and welcome. And our dog is good as new (so to speak!) Thank you, everyone at Aurora!

People who have bad…read moreexperiences are more likely to be emotional and want to vent in a review, which isn't unexpected or wrong necessarily, but you do have to read all the reviews and make an educated decision. Every hospital, pet or human, has patients who don't make it through. I ordinarily take my cat to Premier in emergencies, but on Juneteenth they were overwhelmed and couldn't see me until later that night. They provided a list of other area emergency vets and Mokena was the nearest so I went straight there. They aren't 24 hours and it's a small place so upon arrival you have to call and they will put you in the queue. Wally was in pain and feeling poorly, so wasn't very cooperative, but they made it work and got blood for testing. Dr Soumar saw him for the exam and said the blood test revealed most likely he had pancreatitis. They sent everything to my awesome regular vet, who I was able to schedule with the next day. My vet did another test and agreed with the pancreatitis diagnosis. Wally was fine after a couple days of special care, feeding wet food with a kitten syringe to prevent dehydration and lipidosis. Everyone here was professional and thorough. Dr. Soumar was very kind and explained everything very thoroughly. I will probably continue going to Premier as they are much closer to me, 24 hours, and have a larger office, but I'd absolutely bring my pet back to Mokena when necessary!
