Saw Dr. Potniss with my dog Reya today for a concerning blood spot that has been in her eye for about a month. Parking is plentiful in the lot. I appreciate that there is complimentary wifi because on arrival I had zero reception so using the wifi helped me get the address for where I needed to head to next. The office is very clean and there are several friendly staff at the desk. I was checked in and given a room to wait. First the technicians came in and got a couple of tests on Reya's eyes. They were so gentle Reya stayed pretty still for them. Then the Doctor came in to talk to me and do a few more tests including staining. Reya was so calm and the Doctor was so gentle it went very smoothly. After the examination was finished the Doctor explained to me about the various issues that were found in Reya's eyes with a very thorough explanation of everything. We made a plan that I feel happy with for Reya and we will be following up again in a couple months. What is nice is they take care credit with the 0%APR option taking some stress off the payments. While I waited I perused through the book that has all the eye issues that dogs can have and it's really amazing that the eyes are so strong and yet so fragile. First, the easy stuff: VEC in Pomona is easy to find, has its own parking lot, and is very clean and well-maintained. The staff are friendly, unhurried, and coordinate well with one another and with the doctors. Now for the stuff that matters most: Compassion. I think of compassion as understanding someone's suffering, and then acting to soothe that suffering. By this definition, Dr. Sheahan is one of the most compassionate people I have ever met. When I first brought our cat Benny to her for a swollen eye, she used books, photos, videos, and a whiteboard to give me a clear idea of what she was thinking. She gradually unfolded the possiblity of cancer, so that I had time to process it both mentally and emotionally. She outlined the testing options step by step in plain language. She gave me some privacy to collect my thoughts, and then returned to complete our conversation. She called *after hours* to convince a radiology company to expedite Benny's CT scan. When the tests confirmed her suspicions, she didn't announce the bad news and then walk away. Instead, she spoke with gentleness and sat with my daughter and me in our grief. When we asked about next steps, she didn't tell us to go find a cancer specialist. Instead, the following morning she called *before office hours* to speak directly with the oncologist she trusts, to start Benny on treatment and get him scheduled. And Dr. Sheahan did this on her *own day off,* keeping me in the loop by phone and text. All while tending to her garden, and making me laugh. In September 2025, my husband and I returned from an 8 day vacation to find our dog's right eye looked a little hazy. Over the course of the day, her right eye became completely cloudy and I knew she had to see an ophthalmologist right away. My family and I will forever be grateful Dr. Sheahan was able prescribe medications to help us heal our dog's severely infected corneal ulcer. Dr. Sheahan explained everything thoroughly as she examined Pebbles and actually showed me pictures of the complications to look out for. She was frank about the high risk of rupture with any impact and detailed the precautions that the we needed to take. She was straightforward about the low odds of healing without surgery due to the severity of the ulcer. I truly believe some dogs are meant to find the people they are meant to find, and our dog's story is a perfect example of that. My daughter rescued him from the pound about a year ago. He was scheduled to be euthanized that day and was in terrible condition--extremely skinny, covered in skin issues, and suffering from serious eye problems. They thought he was around 10 years old, but we later learned he was only about 2. We eventually discovered that his eye problems were caused by entropion. Dr. Sheahan agreed to take him on as a patient. Knowing he was a rescue, she went above and beyond to help make sure he could receive the care he needed. Her kindness and generosity meant so much to our family. He can be a little challenging in new environments and around people he doesn't know, and Dr. Sheahan and her team were wonderful with him. They were patient, understanding, and willing to work with him. They never made us feel like he was difficult or a problem. His surgery went extremely well, and the results have been amazing. The pictures show his eyes before surgery and just two weeks afterward, and the difference is incredible. His eyes look awesome, and he is going to have a much better quality of life because of this surgery. I truly feel like this dog has had angels looking out for him ever since my daughter found him at the pound, and Dr. Sheahan and her clinic are definitely part of that story. Dr Sheehan and her team put me and my dog at such ease! after a follow up with our general vet they said we should try to see if we can get an appt with an ophthalmologist before our next follow up. I called their Alhambra office but their next available wasn't until 2 weeks. I called their Pomona office and they were able to get me in within the next 2 hrs. They also had an open slot where the doctor would be in and out with other patients and they'd be able to squeeze us in if we couldn't make the 12pm spot since we had an hour+ drive from LA. We got there 1230 and were seen within 15 mins. My dog isn't the most comfortable at the vet but they were patient with him. We were able to leave the room since he's a bit protective and watch from outside with a peep hole (never had the opportunity to do that) Dr Sheehan educated us on my dog's melting ulcer and how severe it was. She wanted to make sure there wasn't anything lodged inside so we had to sedate my dog but they did it very quickly. Her and her team were also conscious of the costs and sedating my dog for the 2nd time that week. Her front desk team was also so so so responsive before I got there. They upped our eye drop meds from our general vet. I'd send in photos to their team and they'd review it within that day and give me a call. They really put you at ease with how much care they provide for you and your dog. After sending another set of photos and videos to them, Dr Sheehan had called me directly after a long day at the clinic to reassure my dog's eye looks good/healing. We had a wonderful experience with the entire ophthalmology team here. My Shiba Inu recently underwent glaucoma surgery, and the recovery has been going very well so far. They were able to see us on short notice when the disease suddenly appeared, which we really appreciated. We took our dog here because his eye was always dripping. After looking at his eye for less than 10 minutes, the vet said it was entropion, a condition where the eyelid itself rolls inward, causing lashes or fur to scrape the eye. He recommended a surgery that was going to be $4,000+. Thankfully, we moved and ended up taking our dog to a different eye vet and it turns out his tear duct was just blocked. Our Benjamin lost his vision on a Thursday night. We found Dr. Sheahan next day and she diagnosed him with the cataract on right eye and lens luxation on left eye. She recommended we take care of both eyes while being completely open about the possible outcomes, both negative and positive. She was able to assemble a team that Saturday for his surgeries. She also mentioned that she's going out of town the following week but her team of doctors and staffs will be able to help us and that she will be in touch herself via text. Benjamin came out of the surgeries with vision back immediately on his right eye. Dr. Sheahan stayed true to her words by making sure that we were able to keep track of the recovery process. Dr. Chang, Dr. Potnis and everyone at both Pomona and Alhambra locations helped us measuring his eye pressures and check on healing of his scars, even seeing us on 4th on July. They sent us home with a print out every visit with clear instructions on how to administer several eye drops and medications. This is such a wonderful practice. I was terrified my 13 year old golden boy would need surgery requiring sedation when this "thing" popped up in his eye. Dr Goldenberg understood my fears and suggested that rather than rush into surgery, we try two weeks of a steroid anabiotic ointment twice a day and hope that treatment would resolve it. Well, she was right, and you can see the proof in the photos. I could not be more thrilled! He thoroughly evaluated Parker and was so gentle and caring with him. There aren't enough words to express how grateful I am to Dr. Sheahan and her amazing team at Veterinary Eye Clinic. The care and love they showed our dog Schmidt was beyond measure. They changed our lives for the better (and of course, our dog's as well). This is a long post, but it's one I feel compelled to write to fully capture how amazing Dr. Sheahan and the VEC team have been.  For the past few years, we've known that Schmidt has had vision problems. As a cocker spaniel, he was especially prone to them, we knew. We started to notice that he was having issues with his vision when he was around 7 or 8 years old (he's 12 now). His right eye was getting cloudier, and so we took him to an eye clinic in Pasadena. The doctor we saw there was very knowledgeable, but she always seemed like she was in a rush during our appointments. She would examine Schmidt and after literal seconds, she would make recommendations for procedures without thoroughly explaining them. Because she always seemed like she was in a rush, we felt hesitant to ask questions. We would be seen for less than $10 minutes, and then be stuck with a bill for several hundred dollars.  I think the lack of trust is the main reason why we hesitated to bring Schmidt to the eye doctor for years.  Fast forward to late 2024. We noticed that Schmidt's left eye was getting more and more cloudy. By this time, his right eye was blind, as his retina had detached. Seemingly overnight, he started bumping into walls. He was scared to go down the stairs. We had to confront the fact that maybe he was going blind. This was when we learned about the VEC and Dr. Sheahan. We read the reviews about how loving and caring she was not just to her pet patients, but also the families, and so we made an appointment. The difference between Dr. Sheahan and the other doctor was night and day. From the moment we walked in for our appointment, the staff and nurses were so attentive. They never seemed rushed, like the Pasadena vet did. They took the time to hear us out and empathize with the heartbreak we were experiencing. During our appointment, we were seen not only by Dr. Sheahan but also her resident doctors and vet students who were interning at VEC. Each of them took the time to understand Schmidt's case. Initially, we thought that a cataract surgery would do the trick to fix Schmidt's vision. When we went to the pre-op appointment in Feb 2025, Dr. Sheahan and her team shared the unfortunate news that Schmidt's lens had displaced. Cataract surgery was no longer possible--they would have to remove the lens. Obviously, our family was terrified about Schmidt losing his vision, but Dr. Sheahan and her team was able to take him in that same day and do the emergency procedure to save his vision. Those hours that Schmidt was awaiting and going through surgery were some of the scariest moments, but the VEC team made sure to update us literally every half hour to let us know Schmidt's status. I can't tell you what it meant that they did this.  After his surgery, Schmidt experienced a slew of complications. He developed glaucoma and at one point, his eye became inflamed to the point where his vision was in danger. It was clear throughout that Dr. Sheahan and her team were determined to do all they could do to save his vision. They checked Schmidt nearly every single day for the first few weeks, and managed to figure out the right combination of medicines (both oral and topical drops) to stabilize his eye pressure. After a few weeks of trial and error, we finally landed on the right combination that has allowed Schmidt to heal.  Again, beyond the amazing medical care, what my family was most grateful for was the attentiveness of Dr. Sheahan and her team--from the front desk admin who greeted us with smiles to the medical staff who were up to speed on Schmidt's condition every time we visited. They continued to call and text us to check in and see how Schmidt was doing. It really felt like they treated Schmidt like one of their own. Like family.  I know for a fact that had we known about Dr. Sheahan years ago, Schmidt might be in a different situation now. But as she reminded us, we can't turn back the clock, we can only do our best and move forward. I'm happy to report that a month after his surgery, Schmidt is pretty much back to his old self. He is now "farsighted" but he has adjusted well to his new normal. If you have a dog that is experiencing vision issues, I cannot recommend Dr. Sheahan and the VEC team enough. Everyone at this office is amazing -- kind, patient, helpful and knowledgeable. They're a booked and busy office and a pricy office but worth any wait and worth every penny. At another vet I was told my cat looked like she might have eye cancer...I didn't believe it but looked for a specialist just in case; came across VEC from a quick Google search. From the first visit it was clear Dr. Goldenberg is a pro who knows what she's talking about. She kept me calm during a scary diagnosis, answered all of my questions, and even drew my cat's eye on the white board in the room and explained why other treatments weren't an option for my girl. This is my first time having a pet with cancer and having a pet who needed a major surgery (we had to remove the eye) and I couldn't be more grateful that I chose VEC for this journey. Yes, the surgery was pricy. But it was worth knowing that she was in the best hands; trustworthy hands, and receiving care from people who were always a text away when I had any questions or wanted to know how my cat was doing. No.) We're now post-surgery and in the recovery process and they've been amazing through that as well, even calling after hours to answer questions I left on the voicemail about meds (shoutout to Dr. Jaggers btw) and calling the next day to check how my cat was doing. After speaking with her, she was able to get a much better understanding of the situation and offered to accommodate us with a same-day appointment. When we arrived, we had our appointment with Dr. Goldenberg. She sincerely apologized, made it clear she wanted to make things right, and handled everything in a way that didn't feel awkward at all. The customer service from Jessica, Dr. Goldenberg, and today's front desk staff was absolutely amazing. Dr. Goldenberg was amazing! We had been told by our regular vet that our Bulldog was going blind and needed Entropion surgery to fix her goopy eyes. Dr. Goldenberg checked her out, did a few eye tests and prescribed a couple of meds to help with dry eye. We saw a dramatic change within a few days of giving her the meds. Everyone at the office is wonderful from the front desk to the techs and doctors. We had to wait a bit to get an appointment for the initial consultation but it was totally worth it and they're open on Saturdays! We have had an amazing experience with Dr. Sheahan. We were referred to Dr. Sheahan by our local vet for an evaluation for cataract surgery. The Pomona office is an hour from our house, but we decided to go for it because of the recommendation, and we're glad we did, even with all the return visits involved in post-surgery care. Our 15-year-old dog can now see, and we hope this improves his quality of life for the remaining time we have with him. But what really stands out to us about Dr. Sheahan is the level of care she has provided since his surgery. She has been available to us by phone or text whenever we had a question and has adjusted his medications as needed. He ended up in the hospital for his other health conditions about a week after the surgery, and Dr. Sheahan was in constant communication with his care team there to make sure they were measuring his eye pressure and consulting with them about adjustments to his medication. She still texts just to see how he's doing between our scheduled check ups. We would definitely recommend Dr. Sheahan if you are considering cataract surgery for your dog. read more

I highly recommend the Veterinary Eye Clinic if your pet is having eye issues. Our dog, Molly, was a patient of Dr. Erickson's at the Calabasas location. Dr. Erickson was so wonderful to our Molly. Dr. Erickson walked us through the progression of what we should expect from Molly's Glaucoma. Ultimately, we were not able to save Molly's sight but we know Dr. Erickson and his team did everything in their power to try. We are grateful to each and every one of them. (Un)fortunately, we ended up at VEC Calabasas after a botched eyelash tumor removal surgery at our primary vet's office. Everyone at VEC were fantastic in rushing us in for emergency examination and surgery on the same day we called in. It was a dire situation for my pet, Little Guy, wherein he could lose his life. Dr. Erickson, head nurse David, receptionists and the army of technicians took the utmost care of Little Guy and gave him back his eyesight and life. We came in with a heartbreaking, stressful, painful, life threatening situation and it was handled with care, compassion, expertise and professionalism. The results have been astonishing and outstanding. Dr. Erickson has the expertise of a board certified veterinary opthalmologist and his surgical skills are levels beyond others in his field. From Little Guy and all of us in his family, from the bottom of our hearts, we thank Dr. Erickson, nurse David, the receptionists and technicians at VEC Calabasas for a flawless recovery. We took our dog to an emergency hospital on a Saturday for a ruptured eye and they did not have the ability to give emergency Opthomologist care so they found VEC in Calabasas available and we drove 40 miles getting there at 3:30pm. They worked us in at the end of a busy day which ultimately resulted in removing the eye. Dr. Erickson and his staff stayed late to preform the procedure. They went above and beyond and are a credit to their profession. read more

Our dog had potential ulcers in his eye so we took him here because we read the best reviews. We saw Dr. Jaggers who not only treated our boy with so much love she also took the time to explain to us and draw a picture of what was wrong so we really understood his experience and the best plan of action.
