We are so grateful that we know Dr. Jennifer Sheahan. We are new owners to a baby bunny and noticed that his eyes were watery. I called Dr. Jennifer Sheahan and she knew exactly what to do. We quickly made an appointment to see her within a couple days and she performed a few different tests to make sure there wasn't anything else underlying. They flushed her eyes out and she was instantly cured. No more watery eyes. Her staff was amazing and very kind. Treated our bunny like it was their own. Thank you Toby! I would definitely recommend Dr. Sheahan to anyone who has animal eye issues.

    Nearly fully recovered!

Dr. Sheahan and her team at Veterinary Eye Clinic saved my cat Betsy's eye (including her vision), and possibly saved her life. After wasting precious time and money with inadequate care elsewhere, I got lucky and found Dr. Sheahan and the Veterinary Eye Clinic. I was initially impressed by her detailed and thorough demeanor, and now I am an advocate for Dr. Sheahan and the Veterinary Eye Clinic based on the care and results achieved. My cat Betsy underwent a complex CCT procedure to remove a corneal sequestrum and repair her cornea. I would encourage anyone reading this to do their research. If you've made it this far, your pet is likely facing some sort of potentially serious eye issue. There are very few veterinary ophthalmologists on the planet, and only a subset of them who regularly achieve successful outcomes. If my cat Betsy ever faces any veterinary issues again, Dr. Sheahan is the first and only person I'm calling!

Dr. Jennifer Sheehan is truly an exceptional veterinary ophthalmologist. She beautifully corrected my bulldog's cherry eyes, and she has also successfully treated my Boston Terrier's corneal ulcers twice--once in each eye. Her expertise, precision, and compassionate care have given my dogs the best possible outcomes every time. What sets Dr. Sheehan apart is not only her incredible skill but also how genuinely caring she is. She takes the time to explain everything, treats my pets as if they were her own, and always makes me feel confident that they're in the best hands. I gladly travel several hours to see Dr. Sheehan because I know the quality of care she provides is worth every mile. I feel incredibly fortunate to have her caring for my dogs, and I recommend her without hesitation to anyone looking for the very best in veterinary eye care. Dr Laura Mann

Dr. Sheahan is amazing! My dog has a bad eye injury and my best friend who's in the vet industry referred me to her. It was an hour drive for me but it was so worth it!!! Dr. Sheahan explained everything in such detail, but in a way us normal folk can understand it. She showed me everything going on in his eye, all the images, had me take pics with my cell from books that had pictures and write-ups of what I needed to keep an eye out for in the future (no pun intended lol) and she played a video for me to watch while they ran tests in the back that taught me how to test my dog's vision tracking. I really can't say enough about her and the care she gave my sweet Teddy! He was already feeling so much better the very next day! If your fur baby needs an eye doctor, you could not choose a better doctor to take them too!

Dr Sheehan and her team put me and my dog at such ease! after a follow up with our general vet they said we should try to see if we can get an appt with an ophthalmologist before our next follow up. I called their Alhambra office but their next available wasn't until 2 weeks. I called their Pomona office and they were able to get me in within the next 2 hrs. They also had an open slot where the doctor would be in and out with other patients and they'd be able to squeeze us in if we couldn't make the 12pm spot since we had an hour+ drive from LA. We got there 1230 and were seen within 15 mins. My dog isn't the most comfortable at the vet but they were patient with him. We were able to leave the room since he's a bit protective and watch from outside with a peep hole (never had the opportunity to do that) Dr Sheehan educated us on my dog's melting ulcer and how severe it was. She wanted to make sure there wasn't anything lodged inside so we had to sedate my dog but they did it very quickly. Her and her team were also conscious of the costs and sedating my dog for the 2nd time that week. Her front desk team was also so so so responsive before I got there. They upped our eye drop meds from our general vet. I'd send in photos to their team and they'd review it within that day and give me a call. They really put you at ease with how much care they provide for you and your dog. After sending another set of photos and videos to them, Dr Sheehan had called me directly after a long day at the clinic to reassure my dog's eye looks good/healing. Although it's a bit of a drive, I can rest easy knowing my dog is in good hands with Dr Sheehan and her team! I'm glad I was able to find them via yelp/google reviews too!

So glad Dr.Chang and Dr.Sheahan were able to fit me in today. I used to bring my older dog to this location and was so pleased with the service I felt comfortable taking my current dog in there knowing they know what to do and look for. I'm so pleased with the service and that he was able to be helped so quickly with a clear explanation of the findings.

Our Benjamin lost his vision on a Thursday night. We found Dr. Sheahan next day and she diagnosed him with the cataract on right eye and lens luxation on left eye. She recommended we take care of both eyes while being completely open about the possible outcomes, both negative and positive. She was able to assemble a team that Saturday for his surgeries. She also mentioned that she's going out of town the following week but her team of doctors and staffs will be able to help us and that she will be in touch herself via text. Benjamin came out of the surgeries with vision back immediately on his right eye. Dr. Sheahan stayed true to her words by making sure that we were able to keep track of the recovery process. Dr. Chang, Dr. Potnis and everyone at both Pomona and Alhambra locations helped us measuring his eye pressures and check on healing of his scars, even seeing us on 4th on July. They sent us home with a print out every visit with clear instructions on how to administer several eye drops and medications. Thanks to all of their help, Benjamin regained visions on both eyes about two weeks after the surgeries. We have worked with countless vets over 20 years as pet owners, but nobody comes close to Dr. Sheahan. We are so grateful we found her and highly recommend her to everyone.

    Polo post-surgery.

We have had an amazing experience with Dr. Sheahan. We were referred to Dr. Sheahan by our local vet for an evaluation for cataract surgery. The Pomona office is an hour from our house, but we decided to go for it because of the recommendation, and we're glad we did, even with all the return visits involved in post-surgery care. Our 15-year-old dog can now see, and we hope this improves his quality of life for the remaining time we have with him. But what really stands out to us about Dr. Sheahan is the level of care she has provided since his surgery. She has been available to us by phone or text whenever we had a question and has adjusted his medications as needed. He ended up in the hospital for his other health conditions about a week after the surgery, and Dr. Sheahan was in constant communication with his care team there to make sure they were measuring his eye pressure and consulting with them about adjustments to his medication. She still texts just to see how he's doing between our scheduled check ups. We would definitely recommend Dr. Sheahan if you are considering cataract surgery for your dog.

This is such a wonderful practice. I was terrified my 13 year old golden boy would need surgery requiring sedation when this "thing" popped up in his eye. Dr Goldenberg understood my fears and suggested that rather than rush into surgery, we try two weeks of a steroid anabiotic ointment twice a day and hope that treatment would resolve it. Well, she was right, and you can see the proof in the photos. I could not be more thrilled! I'm pretty sure a lot of other places would've wanted to rush right into surgery and I'm very thankful that our Dr took a more educated and conservative approach and didn't do something that would cause unnecessary stress to my old boy. Thank you a million times over for your excellent care ! I would give you 5000 stars if I could

Schmidt before his surgery. As you can see, his left eye is cloudy.
    Anthony C.

There aren't enough words to express how grateful I am to Dr. Sheahan and her amazing team at Veterinary Eye Clinic. The care and love they showed our dog Schmidt was beyond measure. They changed our lives for the better (and of course, our dog's as well). This is a long post, but it's one I feel compelled to write to fully capture how amazing Dr. Sheahan and the VEC team have been.  For the past few years, we've known that Schmidt has had vision problems. As a cocker spaniel, he was especially prone to them, we knew. We started to notice that he was having issues with his vision when he was around 7 or 8 years old (he's 12 now). His right eye was getting cloudier, and so we took him to an eye clinic in Pasadena. The doctor we saw there was very knowledgeable, but she always seemed like she was in a rush during our appointments. She would examine Schmidt and after literal seconds, she would make recommendations for procedures without thoroughly explaining them. Because she always seemed like she was in a rush, we felt hesitant to ask questions. We would be seen for less than $10 minutes, and then be stuck with a bill for several hundred dollars.  I think the lack of trust is the main reason why we hesitated to bring Schmidt to the eye doctor for years.  Fast forward to late 2024. We noticed that Schmidt's left eye was getting more and more cloudy. By this time, his right eye was blind, as his retina had detached. Seemingly overnight, he started bumping into walls. He was scared to go down the stairs. We had to confront the fact that maybe he was going blind. This was when we learned about the VEC and Dr. Sheahan. We read the reviews about how loving and caring she was not just to her pet patients, but also the families, and so we made an appointment. The difference between Dr. Sheahan and the other doctor was night and day. From the moment we walked in for our appointment, the staff and nurses were so attentive. They never seemed rushed, like the Pasadena vet did. They took the time to hear us out and empathize with the heartbreak we were experiencing. During our appointment, we were seen not only by Dr. Sheahan but also her resident doctors and vet students who were interning at VEC. Each of them took the time to understand Schmidt's case. Initially, we thought that a cataract surgery would do the trick to fix Schmidt's vision. When we went to the pre-op appointment in Feb 2025, Dr. Sheahan and her team shared the unfortunate news that Schmidt's lens had displaced. Cataract surgery was no longer possible--they would have to remove the lens. Obviously, our family was terrified about Schmidt losing his vision, but Dr. Sheahan and her team was able to take him in that same day and do the emergency procedure to save his vision. Those hours that Schmidt was awaiting and going through surgery were some of the scariest moments, but the VEC team made sure to update us literally every half hour to let us know Schmidt's status. I can't tell you what it meant that they did this.  After his surgery, Schmidt experienced a slew of complications. He developed glaucoma and at one point, his eye became inflamed to the point where his vision was in danger. It was clear throughout that Dr. Sheahan and her team were determined to do all they could do to save his vision. They checked Schmidt nearly every single day for the first few weeks, and managed to figure out the right combination of medicines (both oral and topical drops) to stabilize his eye pressure. After a few weeks of trial and error, we finally landed on the right combination that has allowed Schmidt to heal.  Again, beyond the amazing medical care, what my family was most grateful for was the attentiveness of Dr. Sheahan and her team--from the front desk admin who greeted us with smiles to the medical staff who were up to speed on Schmidt's condition every time we visited. They continued to call and text us to check in and see how Schmidt was doing. It really felt like they treated Schmidt like one of their own. Like family.  I know for a fact that had we known about Dr. Sheahan years ago, Schmidt might be in a different situation now. But as she reminded us, we can't turn back the clock, we can only do our best and move forward. I'm happy to report that a month after his surgery, Schmidt is pretty much back to his old self. He is now "farsighted" but he has adjusted well to his new normal. If you have a dog that is experiencing vision issues, I cannot recommend Dr. Sheahan and the VEC team enough. Having them as Schmidt's care providers has been truly life changing.

I can't thank Dr. Messri enough for his kindness today. He explained everything clearly and was so gentle to Sunny as she passed. I can tell Dr. Messri, Dr. Cyrus, and the staff work really hard and truly care about their patients. I look forward to receiving care for my other dog, Mona, for many years to come.

I decided to do so to share my experience and allow an opportunity for growth. I wanted to be proactive so I am thankful this wasn't an emergency. My pup has extreme allergy issues. I recently moved to So Cal from No Cal and started a new vet relationship. I explained to Dr. C what the pups experience had been and what I needed. I thought that went well. Scheduled a follow up visit to check in and review protocol as this is when his allergies take a bad turn. I specifically requested Dr c again and was told to come on a Tuesday. I arrived 10 mind ahead of appt to give them time to check me in and to be respectful of their time. First - Dr C wasn't even scheduled to work that day. It appears they may have double booked as there was another couple waiting with their pup. We both were taken to a room and the other couple were seen right away. I waited over half an hour and nothing. When I stepped out to ask if the vet tech could at least vaccinate the pup that seemed to throw everyone for a loop. Please no it is a large and appears to be quiet office. Many people seem to have not a lot going on and it appeared as if I may be disturbing then rather that being a paying customer with a request. When after standing around and nothing seemed to be happening other than just wait around. I thought this wouldn't work and left and got what seemed not of pure intent with a have a good day. If you are a parent you know what I mean when I say tone wasn't genuine. Now I am not angry just disappointed at people lack if care and kindness. I chose to drive further looking for a responsive and kind business. For me, this is not it. I was able to start service with a new vet within 2 miles from where I live. My message, be kind but expect the same in return. If not, go somewhere else. That is all we can do.

Unfortunately when Leo turned for the worst I knew it was time to set up the appointment to say good bye to him, when I called the woman on the phone was so absurdly rude!! I asked if they offered it with along we cremation and the woman just says "yes". I asked how much and she seemed very annoyed her reply "idk it depends on the size of the dog" I told her he was 5lbs and she let out a sigh because she had to look it up. She gave me a price range. Then I asked if the cremation was done individually or in a group she told me it was in a group so I told her I'd give her a call back because I wanted to talk to my fiancé about if that's what we wanted to do with him. I then told the woman that we were already patients there and her whole attitude changed, her tone of voice got soft and was then apologetic. It rubbed me the wrong way so we took our Leo else where to say goodbye. The vet techs and the vet who did our acupuncture were always so kind but their receptionists always seemed annoyed to be there and after this experience over the phone I will no longer be recommending this vet. Leo really liked the vet techs, so unfortunate. Saying bye to a pet is not easy, especially to make the call to set up the appointment so you'd think they'd have SOME compassion for these situations. Very disappointed.

Out of nowhere, they recommended that my puppy gets a vaccine booster shot. My puppy didn't need to have another booster for a year. Spent money on unnecessary procedure and I felt so guilty for putting my puppy through a shot he didn't need. On top of that, they asked me to come back in a month later for ANOTHER BOOSTER SHOT!! They are very eager to schedule your next appointments but wasn't competent to take proper care of my puppy.

Dr. Kevin is a calming, reassuring presence, even via text. His compassion for these animals and their grieving owners is evident and genuine. He explained every step of the procedure to us, even details we requested, and tactfully addressed the possible outcomes of both the sedation and euthanasia. Even typing the word is difficult. I appreciated his further reassurance that it was the correct decision and at the right time when he saw the gravity of Xena's condition; I had no doubts, but it was still a balm to my heart to hear it from a professional. I was able to pet her throughout the entire procedure and up until the very last moment we assisted her onto the stretcher. I am so grateful I could spend those crucial final moments comforting her. We preferred communal cremation, so the rates were within the ballpark of other at-home services I had consulted with. However the stellar attentiveness, gentleness, and empathy that Dr. Kevin provided, in addition to his same-day availability on such short notice and all of the glowing reviews here, had my heart set on him from the beginning. Another reason we opted for him over other providers is because he is the one performing the procedure, so we knew what--and who--to expect. It felt much more intimate and personal than a service sending "someone" out. I believe this high caliber of care is how Dr. Kevin so seamlessly blends into the moment: he is another source of the palpable love resonating during such an intense, difficult experience. His demeanor was serene and respectful, and he allowed us plenty of physical and emotional space. Even as he was working, his being there felt as natural as any of my family members. Xena had a peaceful passing in her favorite sunny spot in the flowers, surrounded by her loving family at home. It was the ideal resolution for a harrowing situation, and Dr. Kevin made it possible. I cannot thank or recommend him enough.

The last thing you want when your fur baby is suffering is to reach voicemail after voicemail. Hearing a compassionate human voice on the other end of the phone brought me so much comfort. She came to my home first thing the next morning. I was worried about my younger Golden Retriever jumping on her or interfering with her care, but she was absolutely wonderful with both of my dogs. She encouraged him to stay in the room with us once he was comfortable with her, and I truly believe that helped him understand what was happening. She was incredibly professional, but I'll never forget one small moment. Out of the corner of my eye, while I was saying my final words and paying my last tributes to my girl, I saw her quietly wiping tears from her eyes. As a healthcare provider myself, I know how often we're expected to wear a mask and stay composed. Seeing that genuine emotion didn't make her seem less professional, it reassured me that she truly cared. In those final moments, your mind races. You question whether you're making the right decision. Seeing her emotion gave me peace because I knew she wasn't simply going through the motions. I knew that if she believed my girl wasn't ready, she would have told me. Most of us are fortunate enough to experience this kind of heartbreak only a few times in our lives. She carries families through it over and over again. That takes an incredible amount of compassion. Thank you for your kindness, your empathy, and for helping my sweet Lilo leave this world peacefully and with dignity. Please take care of yourself, too. The first photo is the day Oliver met Lilo as a puppy, their first photo together. The second was taken just before the veterinarian arrived to help Lilo pass. I didn't realize until later that I had unknowingly captured both the beginning and the end of their story together I will miss my Lilo for eternity.

This is not my first review of our beloved Dr G, and I just recommended her to 6 more people again just these past 2 weeks. I always say to people I give her card to: "you will discover she is an Earth Angel - if she moved to a different town, I'd take my pup there... When you find a great vet, they are Gold! She's not only compassionate, present and knowledgeable, but also she does not oversell." Besides all the regular check ups, Dr G. has performed 2 substantial surgeries on my pup in the last 8 years, and has been extremely kind, providing valuable reassuring step-by-step updates throughout, especially aware that I had lost my beloved first dog, (with a different vet), when he did not make it through the anesthesia... In the 8 years Dr G. has been our one and only vet; everyone I have sent to Dr G. has fallen in love with her, and has thanked me for the referral. I trusted Dr G and her small compassionate team with the euthanasia of my precious second dog, Handsome. She is truly an Angel on Earth. At her Chatsworth location, I love that she's created a lovingly cozy "home environment" for the euthanasia experience. That it so needed during that deeply emotional time, and more veterinary offices ought to follow her example. I found her many years ago when I was dissatisfied with a busy veterinary front desk in Sherman Oaks, after they had made errors in my first dog's chart. Unfortunately he passed, and I learned that finding the RIGHT professional truly makes ALL the difference. So yes, I drive from Sherman Oaks. Gratefully so :) I am thankful that my cherished pups are her patients. Her ethics, her care, her kindness, her knowledge, her integrity - she's our number 1!!!
