    Water treadmill therapy
    Jeni P.

My fur baby Chloe has a slipped disc and pain. I wanted to help her, not just cover up the problem with pain meds. She loves coming here. Everyone genuinely cares about her. They are wonderful with all of their fur baby patients. The laser therapy, water treadmill and acupuncture has been a game changer in how she feels and getting her back to good. Prices are comparable to others. Going once a week can get expensive. Wish they offered a package deal or coupon.

Budget is waiting for the treadmill to fill on his last day of treatment. He's doing great!
    D L.

Budget, my 10 lb. beagle/dachshund, ruptured a disc in his lower back in November, 2016. After five months of crate rest he was no longer paralyzed but his back legs just didn't work right - his legs crossed, he walked on his knuckles and he had no apparent muscle in his legs. A friend recommended this treatment practice and we had a consultation in April, 2017. They started him out on underwater treadmill twice a week for several months and gave me some at home exercises for him. He improved enough to go once a week for several more months and then graduated to every other week. He gained almost 2" of muscle mass in 6 months and continues to get better, although he will never walk quite like other dogs. But he can walk and even run! His final treadmill session was on 8/7/18 and he's doing great! I can't say enough good things about the care and treatment my dog and I received from the staff at Holistic Veterinary Center. Budget had been in a hoarding situation, was not friendly and had to be muzzled for his first visit. That problem was resolved dramatically and was an unexpected bonus as a result of his visits and interactions with the staff. His vet, Dr. MacKinnon, was terrific to both of us and was always ready to answer questions in terms I can understand. I could tell that she really cared about my dog. The physical therapists and veterinary technicians were kind, knowledgeable and caring, and they always went out of their way to greet Budget and ask about how was doing. The dog, of course, was more thrilled with the pumpkin treats.

Jack on the tread, first day!! Such a great experience for him!

We had been struggling for days trying to carefully remove it ourselves, even using scissors, but nothing worked. Dr. Molnar handled everything so calmly and efficiently--it took him only a few minutes to do what we had been struggling with for so long. And because of them my husky lived 14 happy, pain free, years with amazing quality of life until literally his last day. We've been through several vets in the many years of patronage but Dr.D has been our vet for the last couple years and without a doubt her treatments are why my dog lived to 14 pain free and happy. Yes they are expensive, Woodland Hills, but pets are expensive. I highly recommend pet insurance for all pets as that is the reason I was always able to treat my dog. Last: the staff. Everyone at the front desk and the techs are amazing but I have to specifically point out Xavier, who has gone above and beyond for us more than once, and was the one to help renly pass, as they had their own special bond. and Bailey who has been there for us for many years as well. Now I have brought home a 10 month old east valley rescue who had kennel cough and several other shelter related issues and Dr. D has treated him appropriately and he is recovering quickly. She's not only compassionate, present and knowledgeable, but also she does not oversell." Besides all the regular check ups, Dr G. has performed 2 substantial surgeries on my pup in the last 8 years here at Paws & Claws; she has been extremely kind, providing valuable reassuring step-by-step updates throughout, especially aware that I had lost my beloved first dog, (with a different vet), when he did not make it through the anesthesia... In the 8 years Dr G. has been our one and only vet; everyone I have sent to Dr G. has fallen in love with her, and has thanked me for the referral. I found her many years ago when I was dissatisfied with a busy veterinary front desk in Sherman Oaks, after they had made errors in my first dog's chart. I recently moved to So Cal from No Cal and started a new vet relationship. I explained to Dr. C what the pups experience had been and what I needed. I thought that went well. Scheduled a follow up visit to check in and review protocol as this is when his allergies take a bad turn. I specifically requested Dr c again and was told to come on a Tuesday. I arrived 10 mind ahead of appt to give them time to check me in and to be respectful of their time. First - Dr C wasn't even scheduled to work that day. It appears they may have double booked as there was another couple waiting with their pup. We both were taken to a room and the other couple were seen right away. I waited over half an hour and nothing. When I stepped out to ask if the vet tech could at least vaccinate the pup that seemed to throw everyone for a loop. Please no it is a large and appears to be quiet office. Many people seem to have not a lot going on and it appeared as if I may be disturbing then rather that being a paying customer with a request. I think of compassion as understanding someone's suffering, and then acting to soothe that suffering. By this definition, Dr. Sheahan is one of the most compassionate people I have ever met. When I first brought our cat Benny to her for a swollen eye, she used books, photos, videos, and a whiteboard to give me a clear idea of what she was thinking. She gradually unfolded the possiblity of cancer, so that I had time to process it both mentally and emotionally. She outlined the testing options step by step in plain language. She gave me some privacy to collect my thoughts, and then returned to complete our conversation. She called *after hours* to convince a radiology company to expedite Benny's CT scan. When the tests confirmed her suspicions, she didn't announce the bad news and then walk away. Instead, she spoke with gentleness and sat with my daughter and me in our grief. When we asked about next steps, she didn't tell us to go find a cancer specialist. Instead, the following morning she called *before office hours* to speak directly with the oncologist she trusts, to start Benny on treatment and get him scheduled. And Dr. Sheahan did this on her *own day off,* keeping me in the loop by phone and text. All while tending to her garden, and making me laugh. As a retired pediatrician myself, the highest praise I can give her is this: I wish she were *my* primary care doctor.

I was able to pet her throughout the entire procedure and up until the very last moment we assisted her onto the stretcher. I am so grateful I could spend those crucial final moments comforting her. We preferred communal cremation, so the rates were within the ballpark of other at-home services I had consulted with. However the stellar attentiveness, gentleness, and empathy that Dr. Kevin provided, in addition to his same-day availability on such short notice and all of the glowing reviews here, had my heart set on him from the beginning. Another reason we opted for him over other providers is because he is the one performing the procedure, so we knew what--and who--to expect. At first they refused to approve it via Chewy. They then marked the script as having 0 refills and told me I would need to come in each month for a new prescription. The staff are rude and clearly incompetent.
