Dr.Alwen is the best - I just heard she opened up her new urgent care . I met her five years ago with my other dog at a VCA hospital and she gave the best quality care but the prices at the hospital were outrageous again I went to the hospital again in Pasadena because my dog was sick and they wanted to charge me $7000 and when I was looking around, I saw that Dr Alwen was working at Vetnow And it turned out that she was the owner and she just started this Animal urgent care five days ago. I highly recommend her and her price was are affordable. anyways, I would've paid but over the amount knowing that Dr. Alwen was seeing my baby. She's a very experienced emergency room physician.

Dr, Alwen and staff we're great with Lilly. I ran into them by accident trying to go to the other vet hospital down the street. I'm glad I am as the other Center quoted me $5000 for something that they only charge me $1300 as a physician myself I appreciate the honesty and how caring and compassionate and bedside manner the doctor had.

The people working there are the best They make you feel so welcomed while also comforting you while caring for your pet. Dipcone is usually a grouch but he LOVED all the staff. They answered all the questions I had and even gave a goodie bag once we were discharged! Their prices are so reasonable and I honestly couldn't recommend a better team than the staff and doctors at vetnow. Thank you for all that you do

My dog had allergic reaction to eating chocolate . VCA hospital wanted to charge me $1200 to see him and treat him . They only charged me $300 Dr Alwen explained everything to us including her aftercare

When I got there, vet techs were waiting for me. Some of them took her back, and one took my story on what happened, and her symptoms. I had to call Pet Poison Line so they could tell the vets how to treat her-that's fine-and they wanted to do a full workup on her since she is 12. I said that's fine, that's what insurance is for. It was about 11pm when I was sent home to rest while they took care of her. At about two, they called me to tell me that she survived the nightshade poisoning, but they had found a thicker spot in her intestines in the x-ray, and they wanted to do follow-up images in the morning, so I got another estimate for them to keep her til the next day and run another round of x-rays and do an ultrasound. She stayed and I went back to sleep. In the morning, a very kind vet whose name I don't remember called me and went over what is happening and why that spot could be there. She gave me advice on how to proceed after today. She asked what food my cat eats so they could give it to her there too. I was kept in the loop the whole time from when I got there to when I picked her up at 4:30pm. It set me back about $3500. Thank God for pet insurance. But considering all they did and the overnight stay, not terrible. My cat's idiocy may have saved her bacon if we caught something early, but so did True Care's thoroughness.

Calls are rarely returned, communication is almost nonexistent, and getting something as simple as a prescription refill has turned into a nightmare. My dog depends on his medication to eat properly, yet I was told I now need to pay for another doctor's appointment just because the previous veterinarian left over a year ago -- something they never bothered to properly communicate to pet owners. How is that acceptable? To make matters worse, they don't even have appointments available until mid-July. So what exactly are patients supposed to do in the meantime? Wait until their pets are seriously suffering just to be seen and get medication they already rely on? There seems to be a complete lack of urgency, compassion, and accountability. Pet owners trust clinics with the wellbeing of their animals, and this experience has been beyond frustrating and honestly heartbreaking

Worth noting: Expect big urgent care invoices and be prepared to ask questions, line by line, to make sure you understand the costs and necessary treatment. I received a BIG OLE $$$ bill in the thousands and had to review each item, and upon doing that with the (very patient) Vet, they decreased the amount over 50% for the unnecessary treatments. I think every pet parent can agree that the most important thing for our fluffy little ones is proper care and love from the professionals treating them. This is why I'm rating this place a 5 star. They were all terrific people and took wonderful care of my dog (and me!) during a high stress day. P.S. They also offer coffee and snacks and that was a lifesaver after being there for 3.5 hours.

They took me in rapidly and the Doctor was very kind and empathetic to my nervous cat. They diagnosed his issue quickly and let me know it wasn't a complete crisis so that helped calm me down. They did a blood and urine draw which went very smoothly given how nervous my cat was, and overall the doctor/nurses walked me through all the steps very honestly and openly with estimates provided at every step which was very appreciated. As a layman I cannot say how much of the tests they did were strictly necessary and what was nice to have, but doctor explained everything very thoroughly so I left feeling like it was pretty reasonable. The only reason I'm giving 4 instead of 5 stars is because although I arrived around 7 when it was pretty empty, by 8-9PM when my cat was getting his draws and test results, the place became a lot busier and the doctor couldn't attend to me as much, so I ended up not being able to leave until around midnight, including at least one period of over an hour where I was just waiting around. But I can't really blame them that much-- I was in a private room because my cat is skittish so I didn't see, but when I left I saw the place was a total zoo with lots of people, so I think they were just overwhelmed. Overall -- very good service. Bill was a bit high, but they gave me options and walked me through every step with estimates for my confirmation. Only downside was longer wait time as the night progressed.

The last thing you want when your fur baby is suffering is to reach voicemail after voicemail. Hearing a compassionate human voice on the other end of the phone brought me so much comfort. She came to my home first thing the next morning. I was worried about my younger Golden Retriever jumping on her or interfering with her care, but she was absolutely wonderful with both of my dogs. She encouraged him to stay in the room with us once he was comfortable with her, and I truly believe that helped him understand what was happening. She was incredibly professional, but I'll never forget one small moment. Out of the corner of my eye, while I was saying my final words and paying my last tributes to my girl, I saw her quietly wiping tears from her eyes. As a healthcare provider myself, I know how often we're expected to wear a mask and stay composed. Seeing that genuine emotion didn't make her seem less professional, it reassured me that she truly cared. In those final moments, your mind races. You question whether you're making the right decision. Seeing her emotion gave me peace because I knew she wasn't simply going through the motions. I knew that if she believed my girl wasn't ready, she would have told me. Most of us are fortunate enough to experience this kind of heartbreak only a few times in our lives. She carries families through it over and over again. That takes an incredible amount of compassion. Thank you for your kindness, your empathy, and for helping my sweet Lilo leave this world peacefully and with dignity. Please take care of yourself, too. The first photo is the day Oliver met Lilo as a puppy, their first photo together. The second was taken just before the veterinarian arrived to help Lilo pass. I didn't realize until later that I had unknowingly captured both the beginning and the end of their story together I will miss my Lilo for eternity.

It was our first time within the ACCESS network so we did not know that the Cardiology Department was separate from Internal Medicine and the Emergency Department. We didn't know that there were so many varying departments. It didn't set in that this was a specialty clinic not a traditional veterinarian office (even though "specialty animal hospital" is literally in their name...haha). The Cardiology Department was on the second floor in a building shared with other companies. The office was clean and peaceful. The women at the front desk were kind and patient. They answered our questions and were helpful. We were seen quickly in the consultation room and I love that the nurse drew a cute little picture with cat ears and whiskers, and put our cat's name on the white dry erase board that was outside of the consultation room. She listened intently to our concerns as it had already been confirmed that the referring veterinarian had provided our cat's health records. We fully expected to wait a while for the doctor since we were about forty minutes early but about five minutes later Dr. Cole greeted us warmly with a team of onlookers (supporting doctors, maybe interns too not exactly sure). Dr. Cole was patient and explained the process for examining our cat's heart health. He answered our questions and took our fur baby for the testing. Around twenty minutes later he and his team returned with the results. He explained the prescription medicine that would be beneficial for our cat and gave further medical advice for our cat. I really appreciated the transparency and clarity around the results. I felt relieved to have such a warm, competent and friendly doctor handling the care for our fur baby. Thursday night 7/23 I had one of the worst experiences of my life at ACCESS Pasadena, specifically with Kathy Martinez-Manzo. My dog Goldie, was found lateral after my friend got home from work. We immediately rushed to the hospital. At 8:58 p.m. I called ahead and explained exactly where I was, how far away I was, and requested that someone be outside with a gurney because this was a critical emergency. By 9:01 p.m. we had arrived, and no one was waiting outside. I ran with my dying dog in my arms from the side entrance to the front door, only to find it locked. I completely understand why the doors are locked at night, but I was screaming, banging on the glass, and begging to be let in. Kathy walked to the door with absolutely no sense of urgency. In fact, the security guard from across the parking lot reached the entrance before she did. After everything that had just happened, I told her that in the future she needed to move with more urgency during a critical emergency and that I didn't want to deal with her anymore. Her response was to tell me she was the only one there while smirking and laughing. That reaction, in the middle of one of the most traumatic moments of my life, was completely unacceptable. I did speak with the overnight manager, but that alone doesn't address what happened. To make matters worse, my family and I were not allowed to see Goldie after she passed until the bill had been paid. That was heartbreaking and left an incredibly bad impression. I can honestly say the standard of care I once knew no longer feels the same. This hospital used to hold a very special place in my heart, and I referred countless people here over the years because I trusted the team. After this experience as a client, I will never recommend ACCESS Pasadena again. While I don't think opening the door sooner would have changed Goldie's outcome. I know is that every second matters during a true emergency, and clients deserve to feel that the staff recognizes that urgency. The lack of compassion and professionalism I experienced from Kathy Martinez-Manzo was unacceptable. Vanessa Alberto, I sincerely hope this situation is taken seriously. The person greeting clients during some of the worst moments of their lives should demonstrate urgency, empathy, and professionalism. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. I am devastated over the loss of Goldie, and this experience made an already unbearable night even more painful.
