Visited on a Wednesday and it was great! We did the VGS Uncorked tasting with the St.Helena wine passport and it was well worth it. We had a total of five wines, a Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Zinfandel, the Potelle Two (red blend), and Cabernet Sauvignon. We loved the service and the atmosphere inside, they're currently under construction in their outdoor patio but the indoor space was very comfortable. Definitely recommend eating a good meal prior to going, as the wines are pretty heavy pours ;)

Tried this family run off the beaten path winery as part of the Uncorked St Helena passport and chose to do the La Toque food pairing upgrade with the seated guided tasting. It is unusual for me to find a food pairing that doesn't elevate the wines, but this was one such case. The smoked duck bite was overpowering and the other bites were just ok. For the tasting outside you are seated next to the wine trains if that is at all appealing. Kathy was a great storyteller as she shares the history of the winery.

We love VGS so much it hurts. We've been members of their club for years, ever since meeting the winemaker at a private event in Dallas. Wines are now only sold to club members and they are delicious. DELICIOUS! We stopped in for the tasting menu pairing and it was fantastic. There's no better way to spend an afternoon than enjoying great conversation, good food and even better wine. They are located in a small house converted into a tasting space.

Visually beautiful/yummy salad in champagne vinaigrette

Scheduled a wine lunch as a special treat to celebrate my retirement. From the moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted & expertly taken care of Totally appreciated Luis' knowledge of the history of the winery, the wine, & the area. Loved every wine we tasted. Wine created in Napa with a French influence. Of note, the house/garden room is lovely, but not located at the winery (for those looking to be at a vineyard). We were contacted in advance to learn of any food allergies & wine preferences.

Wow Wow Wow! A beautiful and wonderful experience. Loved this tasting. Everything was just perfect. We came when there were no other appts and it was pretty nice to have the whole place to ourselves. The pairings were just fantastic and loved how the little bites were meant for each wine. Definitely enjoyed every sec of it! I can't wait to come back again!

We had a wonderful experience tasting here. The tasting and garden manager, Luis P was a wealth of information and he gave us a great history lesson on VGS. I can't wait to come back to do the tasting and food pairing!

I cannot say enough good things about this place. It truly is "very good shit" indeed. Our hostess was so much fun, she was personable, she really made a connection with us and it made us feel so welcomed. We did the food and wine pairing, every small bite paired perfectly with the wines. We fell in love with the wines and place so much we became members. It's hard not to join when it's such a fun place. Every wine was better than the last. Usually there are a few wines I don't care for, but not here, here, they were all amazing.

Luis was an amazing host very entertaining and great humor with our large party. Very pleasant and understanding that we were a little late from our first wine tasting. All the wines were delicious and the pairing was amazing. Loved the atmosphere of the private dining room for our party of 8. Definitely call for reservations ahead of time. It's a splurge but for the quality of what you get and the amazing vip service worth it for the experience. Wished we had more time to explore the grounds. Recommend that you space out your tastings so that there is wiggle room. The portions are small but the ladies and I were full from meal so perfect for a lunch.

Fun little wine chateau, but can be easily missed. As you walked in, the place is bright and inviting, not the typical dark musky winery. The host was great and very entertaining. He welcomed us with a chilled rose wine. It had a bright airy note; not too sweet and just perfect on a hot summer day the table setting was pretty with the color on the place mat representing the wine. Great visual and concepts. The small bites paired well with each wine. He took time explaining the wine and how each bite compliments the wine. Great food and wine line up, starting with a chilled corn soup, followed by the beef and duck bites, finally ending with a piece of sweet sea-salt chocolate.

What a pairing! This was an excellent experience that I highly recommend.

They do food pairing with your wines and also have a food truck with organic food - super yummy! They sell jams and hot sauces etc. They had a small sign with our name on it - such small things really go a long way in making the customer being felt welcomed. The story about the son naming his Clif bars after his dad - such an inspiring story! And him being a musician and doing improv and that's how one of the wines is named. It is a 5-course luncheon with wine pairings hosted in their private enoteca overlooking the vines, complete with a personal attendant and private chef to curate the experience. The food was delicious, the wine selection was superb--including their Howell Mountain Cabernets (Cold Springs, Croquet, and Cima)--and the private room was the perfect intimate space. It was such a relief to have a private area where I didn't have to worry about disturbing other guests while having an infant in tow! However, I'm giving this experience 4 stars instead of 5 because it felt surprisingly generic for a winery that typically excels at personalization. In advance of our reservation, I was sent a questionnaire requesting our music preferences and celebration details, but neither were acknowledged during the visit. Why ask for that information if it isn't going to be used? It felt like a missed opportunity to make the experience truly magical. Overall, it was a good experience with top-tier food and wine, but I expected a bit more of that "Clif Family magic" when it came to the details.

If you're visiting Crocker & Starr Winery, do yourself a favor and ask for Geordy…read more From the moment we arrived, Geordy set the tone with a warm, genuine welcome that immediately made us feel like more than just another tasting reservation. He has that rare ability to be both incredibly knowledgeable and effortlessly approachable, guiding us through the wines without ever making it feel scripted or overly formal. We were greeted with a beautiful sparkling wine to start, which was not only refreshing but also elevated the entire experience right out of the gate. It felt thoughtful, intentional, and frankly, a bit luxurious. And then, the pistachios. Such a small detail, but exactly the kind of touch that separates a good tasting from a memorable one. Perfectly paired, subtly reinforcing the wines, and just another example of how dialed-in the experience was. Geordy struck the perfect balance of education, storytelling, and hospitality. You can tell he genuinely cares about the wines, the property, and most importantly, the guests. There are a lot of great wineries in Napa. Experiences like this are what make certain ones stand out. Highly recommend. And again, ask for Geordy.

Since wine preferences vary from person to person, this review will be about the tasting experience only. The tasting started with their sparkling brut rosé, which was pretty tasty, however, it seemed to lose its bubbles after a short few minute walk to their fermentation and aging facility, which indicates to me it had been opened for quite some time. The "tour" itself lasted less than 5 minutes and didn't really come with too much of an explanation--it was more or less just allowing us access to the winemaking facility and showing the barrel room. The tasting was seated in their covered, outdoor patio--a beautiful space--a included 3 wines in addition to the brut rosé: 2025 Estate Sauvignon Blanc, 2022 Cabernet Franc Blend, and the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon 'RLC'. One thing I really dislike about Napa Valley tastings is when they pour you wines you cannot buy because they're available to club members only. It's quite pervasive in the valley and unfortunately, Crocker & Starr was no different. The 2025 Estate Sauvignon Blanc was only available for purchase to club members. In addition, if you like to know the technical details for each wine, they do not have any tech sheets/production notes available on their website or at the tasting. They provide empty bottles of the wines in the tasting, however they didn't match the vintage so it wasn't even possible to know basic information like the ABV of the wines. It immediately sets off alarm bells in my mind when a winery is opaque with the winemaking/product details. Some of us want to know the final ABV, RS, TA, etc, and to not have this information available anywhere is quite bizarre, especially with many producers moving toward more transparency rather than less. Our host was friendly but not necessarily super knowledgeable about the production of the wines. For example, when we asked about RS in the Sauvignon Blanc, she started talking about brix at harvest, which unfortunately has nothing to do with RS in the wine, which she later claimed was 0g/L--a value that seemed contradictory to the palate experience of the wine and impossible to verify without tech sheets. Overall, it was a standard tasting experience and from where I was sitting, not at all worth $95/person. Yes, I get it--Napa is expensive and they're selling "experiences" rather than tastings. However, based on our experience, this was merely a tasting and you can get a lot better ones for cheaper in the valley.

The caves are unlike any I have been in before where they are usually rustic. These are beautifully decorated and all kinds of art. I would have liked to see more of the caves but they just have the dercorated section open for these tours. The barrel tasting was great and surprisinly all their wines are pretty drinkable right out of the barrell I suppose because they dont have much tannins so they dont need alot of tiem to mellow. I liked most of them but at $250 a botttle I felt they were way overpriced compared to other high end Napa area wines we are familiar with. After the cave tour they sit inside and you get to try several more wines so we had plenty to drink. I was not expecting a full size pizza for the two of us we already had lunch plan right after so we took most of it with us. Only bought two bottles of their less expensive wines at $95 each which is still a little high!! Probably wont be back since the value just isnt there for purchasing their wines but I do reccomend the tour.
