To make a long story short I was given a VHS tape from my 1991 15 minutes of fame & fortune on The Price Is Right at my recent HS Reunion. All my copies and my parent's copies had disintegrated many years ago. I took my tape to Chris at VHS Rescue tp first see if there was anything on the tape and if by miracle there was, to convert to DVD. Less than a day later he confirmed the video was still in tact and 2 days later he called to let me know my DVDs were ready. He guaranteed 3 days and delivered even faster. Chris could not have been more helpful. Giving him a phone call was a great idea! The call was answered nearly immediately. I told him I had a bag full of small tapes the size of my palm and he knew that they were "DVM60" MiniDV tapes. We talked for a few minutes on the phone about pricing, the address, and turn around time. I parked in the gated parking lot. It is $1 for 15 minutes. I went into the building, took the elevator to the third floor and was surprised that it was almost empty. I went to the receptionists desk and told them I had an order for VHS Rescue. The receptionists were sweet and easy going. They handed me an order form. A note on the order form: It asks for name, phone number, and email so be prepared with that information! I filled out the order form, and left my tapes with them. I got a call from Chris that day, saying my order was started and it would be finished in less then 7 days from today. He confirmed with me that they started the order which pleased me. An email from Chris came on Day 2 saying that 15 out of 45 tapes were finished and it would be done in the time frame initially quoted. He let me know the tapes that had been converted so far were in good condition in terms of the video and audio and there was no deterioration Day 4 comes, and Chris calls me. He tells me that a tape is deteriorated pretty badly and asked if I wanted it. I said no I do not want the deteriorated tape on DVD, and there was no charge for digitizing that tape! Day 5, Chris calls me and tells me everything is ready to pick up at the office. They only accept check at the office! I went to the front desk, and let the same receptionist know I was there to pick up my order. She handed me a bag, I gave her the check, and I was out! It was so simple. Inside the bag was 1) an itemized and printed invoice 2) a bag of jelly beans as a thank you 3) my tapes with DVDs rubber banded to them! I got home, and put the DVD in my DVD player and was pleased at how well they came out. Everything worked out very smooth. They even put labels on the DVDs! The DVDs came in sturdy plastic cases with clear fronts and black hinges. Summary: My tapes were converted to DVD quicker than expected, and they came out well. read more

I didn't directly work with VHS Rescue. I am located in Sacramento and my family is in LA. I have been trying to have someone locate the Shoah Holocaust Interview VHS tapes from my grandparents for years. Finally, the video tapes were located. I shipped my mom a USB Flash Drive and she took the tapes into this company. After a few days she was notified the videos had been successfully digitized and transferred to the flash drive. I have reviewed the videos and I am so happy to have a digital version of these interviews before the tapes disappeared again or worse. The quality is hard to speak to. The audio has an echo. This could be because of the video tape, however I wouldn't know as I don't know anyone with a VCR player to confirm. Also this was filmed in 1994, so the quality can only be so good. Considering the Shoah Foundation wanted $60 per tape, I was happy to pay $15 per tape with a cheap USB drive obtained from Amazon. Other video conversion shops wanted at least $30 more for the service and would not accept our own USB Drive. They wanted to sell me an overpriced USB flash drive. Thanks to VHS Rescue, I have the video files permanently to share with my wife and family so these stories can always be preserved. read more

Vhs rescue converted my tapes to my hard drive very quickly. I dropped off a box of my home movies movies at 1pm during my lunch Monday, and picked them up at 1PM during lunch Friday. I'm a working person so I don't have time to wait for the tape to record to the computer in real time. I searched on yelp and found this company close to my office. I called and spoke to Chris. He told me the cost to get my VHS and hi8 to Dvd was $10 per tape. This was the best price I found, at the most legit venue. I put the address in on google maps on my iPhone and I was ready to go find this place. Parking is free which is great. The staff here is friendly and easy to use. I left all of my home movies and hard drive at the office. Chris called me a day after the drop off to tell me conversion has begun and my order will be ready in 7 calender days. All of my home movies are in the hands of Chris at this time. I got a call two days after the first call, and Chris told me that everything is going smoothly and there is about half of the tapes converted already. Long behold, 6 Calendar days later, Chris calls me and tells me the tapes are on my USB hard drive and ready for me. I go to the office, pay by check, and take my box of tapes and USB drive.
