I came in as a walk in three weeks ago. My nails just started to look like I need them redone. I'm highly impressed by the talent of the women doing my nails. She was not Vi ,I wasn't there for anything too fancy; a gel French manicure for a wedding I was in. The women was very nice and meticulously made sure my nails matched perfectly before having them go under the light. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll ever be back. I wish I could give 4 or 5 stars but the lack of cleanliness and professionalism was appalling in my eyes. The first thing I noticed was the lack of cleaning equipment for the tools they had, no sterilization equipment that I could easily see, when I went to wash my hands I saw all the equipment piled in a bucket, exactly where my nail person went to grab what she was using on me. It was a bit nerving but there was no point leaving considering the fact that I already had my cuticles cleaned and tools were already used. Also the uv lights look like they never have been cleaned with a bunch of previous clients nail polish stuck on. The floor was dirty things were all over the place. A friend of my recommended them or I would have just turned around... Next time I will just judge the book by the cover. The next thing that irked me was the fact that 4 people walked in looking to have their nails done and the person whom I'm assuming is Vi told them it will be a 4 hour wait... There was only me and another girl there and about 4 guys that were not working on nails standing there that could have helped. The people left upset. In conclusion, if you like your nails to look good, don't care how long you need to wait, and do not get repulsed by dirty places go here. read more

Vi's talent is undeniable. The girl has artist flare galore. Her most notable skill is creating out of the ordinary nail design, that will leave people asking where you got your nails done for weeks. I have been to her twice - once on a weekday with an appointment, once as a walk-in on a Saturday (more on that below) - for a UV gel set with design, then a refill with design. Both times the workmanship on my nails slayed. In addition to the cool design, I appreciated the thickness of my gel set. The nails looked natural and lacked that bulkiness. Prices are higher-end (say $80 & up, for fill with design), as is to be expected for the quality of work. I wrestled between making this a 4 or 5 star review because although the Vi's artistry is on point, there are a few customer service issues. The main one concerning time and availability. Even with an appointment during the week, she may fall behind, meaning you'll be left seating there waiting. Understandably, no appointments are taken Saturdays. I assume this the busiest day and no shows means lost money. However, the wait on a Saturday is purely ridiculous and I simply can't justify waiting around for 3.5 hours to get my nails done (not even joking, literally spent 3 and a half hours there). The Saturday I went I arrived at 8am because I mistakenly thought thats when they opened (my bad, they don't open till 9am). I met a girl in the parking lot who had arrived at 7:30am and told me it was a good thing I arrived at that time because people line up in the parking lot on Saturdays and are served based on order of arrival. Sure enough, by 8:30am the parking lot started filling up. Luckily, I was the 2nd person to arrive in the lot that day. But from the time I entered the salon to the time I left it was still 3.5 hours (that's not counting the hour and 25 minutes I spent waiting in the lot). The additional 25 minutes wait in the lot was because Vi was late, really annoying when you think about people waiting around since 7:30am hoping doors to open at promptly at 9am. At other popular salons, they take your credit card information (unfortunately Vi's doesnt accept credit cards, cash only) at time of booking, if you no show, they charge you a fee or the full amount of services. That would solve the lost revenue issue for her and make for a more pleasant experience for customers who actually show as well. Just a thought. Never again, if I go back it will be during the week with an appointment. Appointments are made online only. However, you may not be able to schedule an appointment for 3-4 weeks out, also crazy. I looked yesterday (June 11th) and the first available appointment wasn't until July 8th. Girl bye! Who has time to schedule nail appointments a month in advance?! This is certainly a spot to hit up if you have a special event coming up and you need flashy nails. Just know the limitations going in. read more

They took the time to soak my nails off (instead of filing and ripping like some places would do) she made sure that I was happy with every step of my nails to make sure I didn't go thru what I did from the mall nail salon I went to initially! Really good place to go if you want designs- moat places from Madison to eat haven/ beginning of new haven are SERIOUSLY LACKING in the design department. They will TELL YOY they can do what you want- but can't. This place on the other hand, is setup to the MAXX for designs or all kinds- including color/ glitter IN their gel. Lisa of places won't/ can't do what they do. The only complaint in that they cam be kinda sloppy if you don't stay on top of what they ate doing WHILE they are doing it....otherwise, REALLY good for the money. read more

I usually do not do this whole review thing, but this is needed. I made an appt for 6 pm on Thursday to get a full set, I arrived early and was expecting to wait until my appointment time. When I got there the guy greeted me and told me to pick my color while he was doing the client before me's nails, mind you i arrived 25-30 mins before i was supposed to so there was no need for him to rush her. She kept saying "Tony dont rush me" "i think you cut me cause my fingers are burning" I should've gotten up and left then. Anyway, he started doing my nails and i immediately realized how rough and careless he was. He was very pushy with things i didnt want on my nails but he insisted and kept insisting. He made sure my shape and length were how i wanted which i appreciated, but otherwise was super rough and tried to get it done like he was being timed. He ended up cutting my cuticle twice and then let the blood DRY ON MY NAIL and tried to cover it with gel polish. I dont even think he would have cleaned the cuts if i didnt ask him to. All of my nails werent even, some bumpy and some flat. I only had them on for 4 days and my pinky nail broke and i lost one of the gems on my left hand. I've been here a few years ago and was definitely reminded why i never returned. read more

This has to be the worse nail salon in CT. I made an appt to get a pedicure by Van since she uses that illegal razor on the bottom of your foot a month ago. I went there last Saturday at 9 am to see if she had time to squeeze me in even tho my appt was the following week. She stated so rudely that this is not my appt week and she is busy. To come back next week. The guy tech in there asked me where I got my nails done and I said east haven. Well fast forward to today, Friday, my appt is tomorrow and the same asshole that asked me where I got my nails done decided to call me at 6:30 to tell me van will not be there tomorrow so I explained that I booked this appt a month ago and he so what she is in Texas and to go where I got my nails done. So I walked in this very small and cramped nail salon, I waited an hour to get my nails done. I brought two other friends with me and then they took my friend and hour after me and then my other friend an hour after her. We spent 4 hours in a nail salon. I got an acrylic fill and it was horrible nothing I wanted at all, the shape was wrong. I asked for almond and they gave me coffin. It was a disaster and I will never go back again. Best place to go for full set acrylic (or gel i believe) tips for nails. I had a full set of coffin shape long nails with a matte finish and it came out to be 35$. With the extra things they charge you with I have been charged around 60$ at areas near Madison for the same thing. They did a great job and I suggest this place for someone that is looking for a place they can get their acrylic nails filled, shaped, and retouched for a fair price. This young lady is AMAZING! Let me start off by saying I live out of state. My son goes to one of the local universities. On one of my visits someone recommended Vi's. I was EXTREMELY impressed. If you are into funky nail designs this is the place. Her nail designs are far better than any I've seen in a while. Her and her staff are GREAT at what I do.
