This review only reflects the service that I recieved which is a pedicure- I do not get my nails done- just feet :) I was recommended by a friend to check out Peony when asking about any local places with good pedicures. I was happy to try Peony- when I walked in I was immediately greeted by smiling faces, and very polite staff. The inside is nicely decorated, has very nice gray colored walls with white trim. The layout is nice and open, and clean. The basins that they use for pedicures are nice, and I especially like that they use throw away, 1 time use plastic covers- so you don't have to put your feet into a basin that is just "wiped down." The polish selection is good, and they have all of them labeled with numbers, so it would make it easy to find "your polish" if you write down which one you used the last time you were there. I went in the middle of the day and I am currently VERY pregnant. The woman who took care of me was fabulous, I believe her name was Esther. She was polite, talked to me and engaged in conversation. She was especially nice when she painted little flowers onto my toes in honor of my "baby girl!" It was so sweet, and my toes came out great. Not only is the place clean and inviting, the staff is polite and they also are respectful. I also want to comment on the music- I am unsure what music they play but it is SO RELAXING. Not your typical "nail salon" music, it was so calming I almost fell asleep. They also give you a complimentary massage at the end while your nails dry. This brand new salon is bright, clean, and very inviting. The drying station was very nice, the pedicure machines looked super comfy, and the waxing rooms at the back were private and spotless. They even offer free massages with manicures and stuff. I only stepped in for a quick wax, but I'm excited to come back for my first manicure here! I'll update after that experience. I love this place! I have recently started coming here now and then to get gel manicures and sometimes a pedicure. It is so clean and refreshing inside. I enjoy the spa music that they play during the day. Peony has so many different kinds of pedicure options and a large selection of gel colors as well as regular colors for the toes. Ever heard of a 30 minute gel manicure? Well, believe it now! I am a college student but that shouldn't mean you rush through my appointment...I obviously have the money to pay for it and give a tip. It was going fine until half way through my appointment when 3 walk-ins came in for pedicures. My technician, Gina, started to speed through finishing my nails, the massage i didn't ask for was pretty much her just pushing on my shoulder for 45 seconds, wiped off half the lotion with the hot towel. My nails came out ok, I've had worse service elsewhere. I've gone here before and never had this happen. Pretty disappointed. read more

I want to give 5 stars for the awesome work Jinny does on my nails which is for gel nails and follow-up fill-in's, BUT being I added on a pedicure at my last visit and the girl that did my feet literally used the foot file for 30 seconds if that, and then peeled off the file sticker and was done, this visit became a disappointment. I stopped the pedicure and had a talk with Jinny who explained I have to pay $10 dollars more for her to file longer, so I agreed. I then saw it did not get me a longer foot filing, it only added the callous cream application and then the saran wrap on my feet which she then used the file after that for perhaps a minute on each foot. I went home with rough, calloused feet and would NEVER have Peony do my feet again, total waste of $45 dollars. I then went home and used my callous foot file myself till my feet were soft. I have to say that this was the worse pedicure I have ever received. read more

I had a pedicure on July 21, 2022. The woman who did the pedicure had some difficulty with the polish being too thick; she took it to the owner or manager who is not particularly pleasant as I have previously noticed. After some discussion, the pedicurist return to me and continued with the same bottle of polish. 36 hours later I wore closed-toe shoes and my nails smudged miserably which made my toes look messy. By then I was out of state and do nothing to rectify the problem. It was a disappointing experience in this salon but put the blame on the owner/manager. read more

I'm not the kind of person to get my nails done in a salon, so when my wedding came around, my bridesmaids brought me to Peony for my first experience. Sure, there are cheaper places to get your nails done near Cheshire, but my friends swear by Peony when you want the full experience. I got a shellac manicure and a pedi with hot stone massage, both of which turned out great. I wasn't completely happy with the color, but that's my own fault, as the samples looked different once painted on my nails and I didn't really account for that. The lady doing my fingernails had her work cut out for her since I have a terrible nail biting habit, but she really spent a long time on my nails trying to make them look presentable, and she did a wonderful job. The stone massage felt good, but next time I'd probably skip it since I didn't feel like it significantly added to the experience. Overall, a great experience at a high-quality salon. read more

Horrible. I had high hopes for this place given the previous reviews by other customers. Nails were messy, horrible edges and not clean finishes. My mom and I got gel manicures and when they rubbed them with alcohol after finishing with the hand massage the polish started to come off!! Never in all of the many gel polish manicures have I ever had that issue. They rushed through the entire thing. Also they don't use clean nail files or buffing sponges. They use the same ones the entire day!!! To make matters worse the owner was rude and in no way was accommodating or apologetic. I usually go to Minas nails in hamden and I will most certainly go right back. This was a horrible experience over all and I would never suggest for someone to come here. Ps. The only plus to this entire experience was the back massage. The gentleman really takes his time and knows what he is doing. read more

Went here for a manicure with dip powder with the girl I nanny for. The workers were extremely rude and laughed in her face when she asked for dip powder. The lady who did my nails was very unfriendly and rushed through my nails because there was other customers waiting.
