But also the perfect place if you're a meat eater and want to go in for a healthier meal option. They make vegan versions of all your favorite comfort foods and the workers are always friendly and helpful. If I'm being completely honest, before VIBE, I don't think I'd ever even heard of a restaurant that specializes in vegan cuisine being in Hilo. Or if there was one, it probably wasn't good enough to have any real staying power. So I really didn't know what to be expecting when I was brought along by some co-workers, as it's a place that they do frequent. When we arrived, I was immediately struck by the nice interior design. It felt very fun and inviting. Whoever put it together definitely knew what they were doing. To put things plainly, it was a vibe*. * - Pun 100% intended Their menu looked like it was quite expansive, offering a range of different vegan dishes. There were things on there from nachos, to poke, to a BBQ brisket sandwich of all things. All of the dishes having plant-based substitutions for anything that wouldn't classify as vegan, of course. Another thing I did notice on the menu was that the prices were definitely in the more moderate range. Expect to be spending around fifteen bucks on most things if you do come to VIBE. I had the BBQ brisket sandwich in question and was pleasantly surprised by its execution. I'm not entirely sure what was used as a substitute for actual brisket in the sandwich, but it was good. I sort of would have expected a brisket substitute to be more on the tender side, but everything isn't gonna be the same. It certainly didn't take away from the sandwich at all. That substitute was topped with a very good coleslaw and absolutely slathered with BBQ sauce. Like, it was A LOT of sauce. No complaints here, though. I love me some BBQ. Overall, I really enjoyed the food and had a good experience in the restaurant itself. If I'm ever feeling like being an herbivore for lunch, I'd not hesitate to return! read more

Weird vibes at vibe. When you first enter be prepared to a answer the question "Are you dinning in or out?". The ordering process is not clear and the staff was not very attentive. The food portions are a bit small for the price compared to other establishments in the area. The burgers currently come with chips but this is not indicated on the menu. Happened to find this place by chance (thanks, Yelp!) and my coworker and I decided to chance 'um. Plus she's been on a vegan diet so it worked out well. The location is a super cute hipster type restaurant with open seating. Their menu has a wide range of vegan and vegetarian options, and coffee/ tea choices as well. Parking is also fairly easy. I ordered the mushroom swiss "burger" with an iced Americano and my coworker had the "chicken wings" and fried rice. It takes a little while for the food to be ready, so be patient - it's worth it! I would get my burger again for sure. The patty was huge and satisfying... I couldn't even tell there wasn't any meat! The chips and coffee were great sides as well. They were also very receptive towards our various allergen restrictions, and made sure we had a good food experience! I ordered tofu scramble with pineapple fried rice, toast, and vegan butter. The tofu scramble (even without garlic) had great flavor and was much better than I expected. The pineapple fried rice also had a wonderful flavor as well, and the vegan butter they used for the toast was one of the better vegan butters I've tried before! The pulled pork burger was really big / kind of heavy and my friend didn't end up finishing it (a rarity), since the flavor and textures were so strong. Came here for the first time last weekend and got the house salad and avocado toast. Both were excellent; you can taste how fresh every ingredient is. Been to this restaurant a handful of times and have liked some of the food. Although on one occasion I was sadly disappointed when I ordered a daily special, the dish was too spicy and I barely took one bite out of it. The server neither offered to switch it for something else on the menu, even a lesser priced item or to comp the meal. I wish they expressed how spicy there food is in their daily specials. Vibe cafe and health bar is the ultimate vegan destination if you are in the east side of the big island. I absolutely loved going to this location and ended up dining here twice. As you can see from the photos we ordered a ton of stuff from the menu. My favorites were caprese toast and avocado toast from the appetizers. They actually are loaded with amazing micro greens and radish as garnish. The açaí bowl was also amazing but it was a tad bit too sweet. The lattes are pricey but again pretty good. For the entrees I would wholeheartedly recommend jackfruit tacos and jackfruit enchiladas. Super spicy and tasty. I didn't like the big nasty burger though. It looked like they had bought the grocery beyond meat patty. I personally don't like that and they make it unhealthy by accompanying it with chips. read more

Twice also I ordered add on of signature lemonades and took FOREVER. Extra 15 mins both times. Both times I called my order in and picked up was on work lunch break. The pick up system needs some serious tweaks. No one at the bar making an urgency to expedite to go/pick up orders which is odd. Hopefully this will be address with Vibe owners to improve in this area, and I understand why they don't accept dinner pick up orders b/c they have non efficient system 8/10/21. Hopefully on the weekends when they close for training it will be corrected and they Will happily accept and serve to go / pick up orders from open to close with the continence of executing great quality vegan / vegetarian food. The second server wouldn't even let us finish our sentences /questions. They do not accommodate changes to the menu. Makes me think that if there is a food allergy.. You are on your own. Then when the food finally showed up, it was missing a key ingredient. When asked about it. We were rudely told it doesn't come with it. The way we were answered triggered us to confirm. Looked at the menu again and what do you know.. The ingredient is listed. As she passed by again we mentioned it again and pointed it in the menu. Pulled into their parking lot (lots of stalls) since it looked like a cute spot... saw a little hanging swing in front and thought how cute?! My wife and I celebrated our 49th anniversary today at Vibe. I know the restaurant has been in Hilo for several years, and we had never been, but a recent report listing Vibe as having one of the top 10 burgers in the US, caught my eye and sent us on our way to try it out. The setting is very simple and rather small. Something like 7 or 8 tables inside and a few more outside, in the parking lot. Sitting next to the street or parking did not appeal, so in we went. Simple service. Once you figure out what you want, you go up to an order desk, place your order and pay. I was a bit put off by them asking me to decide on the percentage tip I wanted to add before even seeing the food, but I did like the simple setup. We sat down and waited a little while before the food appeared. I did order a mushroom burger with a purple sweet potato side salad. My wife had their beet salad and we split an order of nachos. The servings were very generous and everything was delicious. Not sure that I would rate the burger as a top 10 in the nation, but it was very good, from the sour dough bun and remarkably meaty mushroom patty. My side salad and the beet salad were fantastic. The nachos were fantastic. We didn't recognize one of the ingredients and were informed it was Jack Fruit. I've been in the islands over 50 years, and my wife was raised in Honolulu, yet neither of us had ever had any before. Very tasty, and maybe we'll pick one up at our local farmers' market and try our hand at preparing one for ourselves. I almost forgot to mention the Lilikoi lemonade. It's worth a trip to Hilo from our home in Volcano, just for that. We'll be sure to stop in to try their other flavors of lemonade, but I have now found a new favorite thirst quencher for our regular shopping trips to town. Prices were reasonable, service was simple, but very well done. We'll be back, fo chua! The only negatives? The walls are hard, with no fabric surfaces, so everything is loud, especially the boyfriend sitting at the table right behind me, who seemed to be conducting a job interview without ever letting the potential applicant speak. And this is not the place to go for a beautiful tropical view. Parking lot on one side, and major 4-lane traffic on another, but we didn't hear any of the outside noise.
