This one hurts to write. I love supporting vegan restaurants where I can order anything without worrying about the ingredients. Even though this place is pricey I happily supported it because it stood for something. Now that it's no longer vegan, it feels like a completely different place. Seeing venison, eggs, and raw dairy on the menu was honestly jarring. That shift isn't small, it changes the entire atmosphere and comfort level for me. Cross-contact becomes a concern, and I no longer feel at ease dining here. The branding around these new additions being described as "ethical" is the most frustrating part. They try to explain how their meet and eggs can be "ethical" but they don't even bother to try to explain how their raw dairy is "ethical." Probably because is no logical argument. Their pride and excitement about these "ethical" addictions feels entirely disconnected from the community that originally supported this space. I'm genuinely disappointed. read more

I came here after taking a Lagree class and it was the perfect post workout meal. The interior is spacious and clean and there's booths to sit at. I got the Mediterranean bowl and it had so many delicious fresh toppings. I really liked the beet hummus in my bowl since it was so creamy! The service was friendly and the food came out fairly fast. This used to be one of my preferred vegan spots in OC (since there's not many left). While their menu was never that great having weird ingredient combinations, it was easy to stop in for a vegan meal. I asked one of the staff members as to why they changed their philosophy and they said it's because they needed more protein options. Likely the restaurants were not doing too well (every time I was there it was mostly empty) and as a last resort they jumped on the protein bandwagon. There's plenty of restaurants with vegan options in the area so I will skip Vibe from now on. read more

You can't beat the quality at Vibe, They use all organic ingredients and they are completely seed-oil free which is so important! The best part is the food actually tastes delicious! You don't feel like you're eating boring, healthy food. The staff has always been nice, and the quality has always been top notch! I was excited to try Vibe Costa Mesa but my bowl was a fail. I ordered the Curry Bowl with tofu. First of all, no tofu made it to the bowl. This of course had cost extra. Bowl was described as cauliflower being the base but it was broccoli. This didn't really "vibe" with chickpeas and curry. So basically I paid 20 bucks for rice and chickpeas. I love Vibe! I get their macro bowl, chia seed parfait, and banana bread at least once a week -- it's definitely a staple for me. The only thing I wish they could improve is the banana bread. It's a bit hit or miss: about 5 out of 10 times I'm lucky enough to get a moist slice with plenty of chocolate, but other times it can be dry and lacking flavor. Service: I was not greeted or asked how I could be helped by the one employee present. There wasn't even a hint of a smile. She very obviously just finished making my smoothie and put it away before coming to the register, muted. What I tasted: Matcha mint chip smoothie- I've heard such great things about this smoothie but it wasn't my favorite. The protein powder was chalky and the matcha & "chip" flavors weren't coming forward. It tasted like a green protein peppermint smoothie. Overall thoughts: I do like vibe since it's all organic, seed oil free and whole food based. I didn't super enjoy the item I tried or the service. This restaurant makes everything homemade and if it isn't homemade it's the highest quality products (like cassava root wraps). I'm genuinely disappointed. This restaurant built its reputation on being plant-based, which is why many of us supported it for years -- for ethical, environmental, and dietary reasons. Seeing venison (deer meat) on the menu is shocking and feels completely misleading. Venison is not plant-based, not vegetarian, and not even close. If a restaurant chooses to pivot away from its original mission, that's their choice -- but continuing to market as "plant-based" while serving animal meat is dishonest. Many customers come here specifically to avoid harm to animals. Serving deer meat undermines that trust entirely. I truly hope management reconsiders this direction and returns to what made this place special in the first place. Until then, I can't recommend it to anyone seeking a genuine plant-based experience. read more

I LOVE their concept! First time at this location. The food, I ordered their classic burger, carrot juice, and cold green tea. The service was iffy, and here's why..... when I placed my order, I ordered it for here and NOT to go. I waited a super long time for my meal to arrive, and guess what, yep, you guessed it, they thought it was a to go order, and ended up sitting around for a good 30 minutes. I finally said something, and I immediately got my burger. No apologizes or anything. They need to listen carefully. The burger was delicious, as well as their drinks I ordered. Tonight I got the breakfast burrito (the photo easel stand outside the shop with a close up of the cross section was convincing). I ordered in store for to-go. Unfortunately, even though I opened and ate the burrito within 10-15 minutes of picking it up, the paper wrapping stuck to the tortilla and the tortilla had already started falling apart. Maybe with foil it would stick less? Also, I was accidentally given the wrong sauces to go with the burrito. I'll eat them with something else but was looking forward to the chipotle sauce! There were also some bad spinach bites- which I know happens every so often in a bunch of spinach. Besides those areas of improvement for the breakfast burrito, the burrito was flavored well and all of the components were well balanced. I often stray away from ordering breakfast burritos because they tend to end up being half potatoes and very little of the other components, this was not the case! Wish I could give 10 stars! This establishment is so consistently good! They are fully organic, don't use any seed oils (only use avocado oil, coconut oil & olive oil), are fully gluten-free, soy-free and dairy-free. What a great concept for a restaurant. And what's more, everything actually tastes heavenly! We ordered the butternut squash tacos (our favorite item!), Bombay bowl (option of white rice, quinoa, greens or cauliflower rice) with sauces on the side, Rice Bowl (white rice, black beans, pico de gallo & guac) which our toddler loved, as well as Vibe fries (sweet potato fries w/ vibe secret sauce). Everything was excellent! We would try the wraps the next time we visit. Also picked up some kale chips for the road. Service was great as always. The person at the counter was very helpful with adding my details to their rewards program. Each entree is $15-18, and sides are around $12 each, but given the taste, quality, variety & freshness of the food, I believe it's well worth it. I just found out that Vibe is planning to start offering chicken now in addition to dear meat. I'm so sad and even more disappointed than I was. The reason the owner gave for originally switching from many years of being a vegan restaurant to serving the meat of dears is because he was helping to protect the environment in Hawaii from overpopulation of dears. What is his reason now for serving the flesh of chickens? Truly makes me so sad. This used to be my favorite restaurant and now I don't feel comfortable supporting it at all.
