    Pastrami

We ordered to go so I can't comment on the ambiance. The order processs was easy and the food was ready quickly. I ordered the pastrami and it looked great but when I bit in the pastrami it had a lot of veins and it was difficult to bite. Every bite after was the same unfortunately so I wouldn't recommend this sandwich. I did LOVE the baguette though. If I try another sandwich I would get it on the baguette. My friend said the tuna melt was delicious, so it would be worth another try here.

They have great sandwiches here. A little on the pricy side but it's probably because it's Newport Beach

I have seen this darling place for years, but never stopped in; I'm so glad that I did today for a late breakfast. The restaurant doesn't look like much until you walk in, then you are greeted by a quaint, clean and cozy place that beckons you to try everything. I looked over reviews and saw that the breakfast sandwich looked to be one of the top sandwiches, so I tried it and added bacon and avocado. Wow, it was HUGE and looked beautiful! The thick-cut bacon was piled on, along with cheddar cheese; the brioche bun was soft and flavorful, the fried egg was perfect and the avocado was soft and plentiful. The sandwich is delicious and certainly not your standard fried egg! (I could only eat 1/3 because it was so big.) I read that the cookies were also fab, so I ordered a peanut butter, then asked the checkout gal what other cookies were great to take home and she suggested chocolate chip and pecan shortbread. There is plenty to look at while you wait for your food to be prepared, like holiday gifts, Voluspa candles, decorative cocktail napkins, books, etc. There is also a small market inside that serves deli items. I took the food to go and heated the sandwich at home. I also tried a bite of each cookie (for science reasons, of course). The peanut butter was my favorite, with the chocolate chip and shortbread close behind in second and third place. I cannot wait to return soon! Classic Newport!

What a great find in Newport. It doesn't look like much from the outside but the inside is so quaint and clean. The Asian wonton chicken salad was so unique! The homemade wontons were so good. The giant cookies were a must!!

We stopped by to pick up lunch to go. You order at the register and then they prepare your order. There's also a little market (hence the name), with items like fruit, eggs, beer, flowers and random gifts. We ordered the godmother sandwich, which is piled high with several meats and veggies on ciabatta. Large enough to split between two if you're not super starving. Great lunch portion for us. We also split a regular sized iced coffee and enjoyed our items at a nearby park on a beautiful day! Total was around $16 as of March 2021, so not bad at all.

Honestly really really enjoyed A market! My husband and I have been driving past it for the past 6 months and finally were like we are gonna stop and try it! Such a cute market and cafe. Service was friendly and very fast on a Saturday morning at brunch time. The seating outside was nice and perfect temperature. My husband LOVED the favorite sandwich. The egg sandwich wasn't bad but wasn't anything life changing. Enjoyed the latte as well. Definitely want to come back here!

    MY FAVORITE sandwich

A neighborhood favorite in Newport Beach, A Market is a legendary local sandwich shoppe, that additionally showcases a variety of quirky trinkets, books, cards, and more. Racks of glossy magazines lay stacked on paralleling walls as you approach the cash register, a friendly employee greets you with a gaze, and your eyes start to drift across the delicate paper menu, half crumpled from the day's use and stacked with an extraordinary paperweight. I ordered "MY FAVORITE" for takeaway on my last visit, and indeed it was just right combination of what seemed like all the wrong things...this sandwich is packed with turkey, avocado, pear & ginger marmalade, honey mustard, and watercress on a marble rye bread. Upon delivery, I jetted to the beach and sampled this dish with the waves lapping against the shore, a small pot of pickles was nestled in the to go box, that amplified the mix of flavors and gave it an extra rush of flavor mixed with the salty sea air. It may not be YOUR FAVORITE...but it definitely was, none other than, MY FAVORITE!

No signage. No descriptions. No prices.

There is no signage for the pastries. You don't know what they are, and you don't know how much they are. The guy at register was no help. I asked if there was a menu for the pastries, and he said no. I bought a peanut butter cookie and an all chocolate cookie. The all chocolate cookie tasted HARD, DRY, and CRUSTY. I was like is this from the day before? I talked to an older lady who looked like she could be the manager about how this cookie didn't taste as good as the peanut butter cookie, and she told me it was supposed to taste like that because it was a shortbread cookie. The guy never told me it was a shortbread cookie, and there was no signage to tell me otherwise. She did not care that I didn't like the cookie. She did not care that there was no signage. She also did not care that she adds a percentage to all her customers for her employees' insurance without letting us know beforehand. I asked her if I could have a different cookie, and she said I could buy another one. She is so emotionless, stoic, no smiles, no putting the customer first. I told her this was my first time at this place and that I Yelp a lot. I, unfortunately, had to put that out there. How are you going to tell me to buy another one of your description-less, cookies, take another chance and waste my money on who knows what? I uncomfortably pulled up some courage to tell you one of your cookies does not taste very good. You could have easily said sorry let's get you a different one. I'm sorry there are no signs to tell you otherwise. I'm sorry my cashier didn't tell you what it was. But, no. You had to get rude on your behalf for $3.25. Then, she started talking about me to someone next to her who was staring me down. She reluctantly gave me a different cookie, never apologized for anything, agreed with me that there was no signage and expected everything to be okay. Wow. I'll never be coming back to this place again. There are too many places in Orange County to choose from as far as cookies and sandwiches go not to mention way better service and upfront signage with descriptions and prices. Unbelievable.

Hands down one of the best places in the area. Just not too healthy, but very tasty. Recommend.

Great place. Wish they had a few more vegan options personally but it was good. Enjoyed reading the magazines they have at the front.
