If I had to say this was one of the most delicious breakfast I've ever had the best thing was the French toast

The service was amazing and the food was great. We stopped here for dinner on Monday on our way to NY from NM. My husband and I both had breakfast food and the only thing either of us had a complant about was the amount of butter that was on our food. I honestly had enough butter on my toast for double the bread I had and his pancakes had twice the butter that he really needed. An absolute Jewel, on the highway. We got stranded traveling from OKLAHOMA to Ohio. During the thanksgiving weekend. We went for dinner and ordered the top of the menu. Ordered the surf and turf. I was not disappointed it was a good as any steakhouse. The server Marissa was great she was very sweet and helpful. Vicki's Country Diner has great food, had large serving country fried steak with gravy,overeasy eggs, hash browns, & large soft biscuit with fantastic sausage gravy in small bowl as free side order. The steak was thick & tender with crispy breading. Everything was delicious & served quickly & hot. Server & owner was very friendly, diner was clean & homey ! The server was wonderful; however, the food was pretty bad, and after spending over $50 for two meals, we left still hungry. The surf & turf was small, and the steak was not cooked to the requested temperature. The tots were neither cold nor warm, but rather at room temperature. The "Texas Toast," which should be hot, and have crispy edges after being fried in garlic butter, was glorified white bread that had a slight brown tinge like toasting had been attempted, but failed. If it had any butter on it, it was imperceptible. Perhaps they just passed it near the butter. Additionally, if you plan to have an open kitchen, ensure you follow sanitary and safety guidelines. The cook used their bare hands to plate the burger & toppings. I expected much better from a former Huddle House, which has the same owner, just not the HH branding. read more

1/19/25: Former Huddle House turned local diner, Vicki's isn't anything fancy or blow your hair back, but it's exactly what you'd expect from a small business. Emily was super polite & attentive. Instead of leaving the food on the counter to get cold while Emily waited other guests, the cook brought everything out to us as it was getting done and even said, "We hope you guys enjoy!" That's exceptional customer service. PORK CHOP: Good flavor but a little dry. (It's difficult to get pork cooked quick & tender.) Green beans were a home style recipe & the fries are those top-notch kinda battered'ish version. My kids approved of the FRENCH TOAST and KIDS PANCAKE (whipped cream optional). CHICKEN TENDERS were thick & piping hot. Daily Desserts: We had zero complaints with the CHOCOLATE LAVA CAKE and CARROT CAKE. read more

On a cross country road trip and wanted to eat a nice breakfast. Vicki's Country Diner was perfect for us. The place had a very cool vibe and was clean. The food was great and the service was friendly and fast. Also, it is really really close to the highway and has gas stations right near it which was very convenient for us to get back on the road quick. Would recommend to anyone! read more

The service was terrible. My eggs got messed up twice and we either burt or under cooked they charged us for food we never got. and then lied to us about taking the charges off for the items we never got. It was rediously over priced for food that was ineditable. We used to go here all the time and never had a problem And today we went and me and my husband will never be coming back. It was barley editable. I have never seen a place that lacks service and editable food but Vicki's county diner did Both. read more

We were driving across I-70 and looking for a decent place for lunch and happened across Vicky's Dinner. It was just a short drive from I-70 and was a welcome change from the fast food options. The parking lot was crowded so that was a good sign. The interior was very cute with a fresh clean retro theme. Our food was delicious, the service was good and Vicky was welcoming. Stopped here for breakfast on many occasions, before and after "the change". Vicki has always been a wonderful, congenial host, and now that she doesn't have the Huddle House limitations hanging over her head, so much the better. Food is small-diner comfortable and tasty, and the atmosphere friendly. Vicki? I nicked you a star because of the TV. Some of us aren't fans of the news channel you've had on during our visits. We find it a bit confrontational. Maybe something a little more neutral with breaks for weather coverage for us travelers? Thanks! read more

Wonderful diner near I-70 on Route 127 in Greenville Illinois. The staff is courteous and checked on us frequently. The food was delicious and the portion sizes quite generous (I had to get a to-go container). The owner, Vicki, and her husband, stopped by to check on us too. The atmosphere is adorable. Easy access to the interstate. Plenty of parking. Just a wonderful experience in every way. I plan to stop by again when I'm in the area. read more
