We were in town on business and decided to go to The Original Pancake House. Saturdays you can guarantee a wait, but we arrived about 7:15, so had no wait. Our server was Brooke and she was super-perky and friendly -- so early on a Saturday morning!! So refreshing!! We both ordered scrambled eggs with bacon and pancakes. OPH always makes great eggs -- never have to worry about them being scorched here! Their bacon is thick, perfectly salty, and delicious. DH is lactose intolerant and their gluten-free pancakes are dairy free. Brooke said she frequently gets them because they are made with rice flour and seem to be sweeter to her. There's a small upcharge but totally worth it when buttermilk is hard on your system. Our coffee cups and water glasses were kept full for the entire meal. OPH is my favorite pancake restaurant and this location definitely keeps up their rep! read more

Hi visited here again for lunch on 2026.09.04 with a daughter and her newborn. Everytime I've been here the restaurant is very clean, often a wait for a table but being a Friday and after the lunch rush there was plenty of close parking and empty tables. My daughter got an eggs & bacon meal with a soda, I got the 3 French crepes with fresh strawberries (on top), powdered sugar and compote plus coffee to drink. The creamer was out when the coffee arrived so I asked for half&half and was told they only use heavy cream. I likely wouldn't know the difference if they asked me so we were good to go. Previously I'd gotten a tri-berry crepe and it was great, this selection the strawberry was not nearly as good. The strawberries on top were fresh with a great flavor, the ones in the crepe appeared to be from the same mix I used as a kid at a Dairy Queen for their sundaes. The inside strawberries were soft and lacking the flavor of the fresh ones. And there were more inside the crepe than fresh on top so the taste was not as good. Chef: I would ditch the strawberry mix and go with fresh inside the crepe, you will get a much better customer satisfaction rating. I had two scrambled eggs on the side and that portion was larger than some restaurants serve when the eggs are the main part of the meal. Also, 1 egg was ~$3 and 2 eggs was $4.5O being pretty adequate in math the better deal is 2 eggs. My daughter's meal looked very good. She and I like our bacon crisp not burned, her bacon looked perfectly done. Also if you've not been here when they say thick cut bacon they mean it, so if you like your bacon more well done be sure to ask for it. Coffee was good, the cost for a soda or a coffee was $4. For 2 adults it is one of the more expensive breakfast places in StL, it was $5X.xx with tax, (before tip), it is not a cheap place but it is a place to try if you want a breakfast done well. Also just about any type of casual clothes will be fine as the motif is like a mountain log cabin. We tried a few weeks ago and it was packed and so many people were waiting for tables, that we left and decided to try again another time. We got there around 8:00 on a Saturday morning and were seated immediately. There were people there, but there were plenty of tables still available. Everything inside was very clean. I mean clean clean. My husband and I both noticed - and mentioned - it. The menu is huge! We were working our way through it when our server, Terrie, came over. She helped us make decisions about what to order. She was a great server and was attentive and friendly the entire time we were there. Team breakfast after a Saturday morning softball game brought us here. They were able to seat us pretty quickly for the size of our party. Service was great as well. My middle daughter ordered the Triple Berry Waffle and we shared The Bacon Works platter. They didn't have a platter with the waffle and adding a la cart can get pricey. The Triple Berry waffle was so good! The amount of fruit they put on it is pretty impressive. It tasted more like dessert than breakfast. I got the French toast instead of the pancakes because I'm honestly not a fan of their pancakes, but I loved the Brioche French toast. I'm a non pork eater but my daughter loved the bacon. I did like that they have turkey and chicken sausage on their menu which I'll have to try in the future. My husband ordered the corned beef hash with over easy eggs. They came with 3 pancakes. While he enjoyed the corn beef, he was also not a fan of the pancakes. My youngest daughter ordered the chorizo omelet and upgraded her pancakes to the chocolate chip ones. She enjoyed both. I brought my daughter to this location for our first visit and our experience was amazing! We were greeted by a friendly hostess as soon as we walked in, and we were immediately sat. Our waitress Brooke was kind and attentive. I mentioned that it was our first time visiting, and Brooke gave us samples of their freshly squeezed orange juice, which was very tasty. I chose the corn beef and hash with three buttermilk pancakes, but really wanted to try their potato pancake, so Brooke brought me out a potato pancake to try and it was so good! There is a reason there is always a wait and it's worth it, especially if you join the waitlist on Yelp before you anticipate to arrive. While a little pricey, the portions are huge with enough to share. The bacon is the best bacon you'll find in a restaurant. Made a trip to the Original Pancake House (OPH) in Chesterfield, MO. Our visit came on a Thursday morning and was able to get seating during the breakfast rush. Our server saw we were all running on empty and loaded us up with fresh coffee while we reviewed the menu. I was informed OPH provides hearty portions and everything on the menu is delicious. I have to admit I was intimidated by the diverse menu but felt comfortable going for something new. We ordered several variations of crepes with traditional breakfast dishes, ham and bacon with eggs. Meals came with a side of delicious buttermilk pancakes. Syrup was served hot and not too sweet. Everything was delicious, perfectly seasoned and our server kept the coffee flowing. Went to breakfast with my family. Food was decent but not worth the price. Server was good and we received food in a timely manner. Everything was good until they decide you are finished and start trying to take your plate when you are clearly still eating. They stop filling coffee after second cup. It's a Sunday and yes they are busier that day. By the time we were almost done the place was not busy. Several tables were open. We paid and were finishing up and the hostess came to ask us to leave as they were getting busy and needed tables. I counted 6 open tables as I was walking out and 4 people sitting in the lobby area. How incredibly rude! They want you to come spend money and then kick you out as soon as you're finished. I doubt we will be going back. The portions are large and many times we end up bringing some leftovers home. One thing I would highly recommend, particularly on the weekends, it's to join the waitlist. The place gets mobbed between like 9 and 11:30-12 in our own experience. The wait then can be well over an hour, so definitely join the waitlist if you can. I always get the Swedish pancakes, but when we walked in this time, there was a huge sign saying pumpkin pancakes, so that is what I went with, and they did not disappoint!
