What they serve is not how they serve it. Small and sweet. I'm literally writing this review as I wait because, there's a line. #23, walked in around 10 and skipped a few people in between and yet the timer is ringing in at 39 minutes. It's Saturday and I've seen the movers and shakers hop and skip a lot faster on a slower day. WHY IS THERE ONLY 2 PEOPLE WORKING? No bueno. If they can't keep up with the traffic here they should honestly consider a self serve and check out station. 9:54am is when I walked out. That is completely unacceptable. I could've literally dined in somewhere. Considering it's a Saturday and would be a high volume day--- management seems to not be very active on this location. Chains tend to create this problem for business owners as I've been to other locations and it's just polar opposites. I think I need a little time before I come around again. Sigh. read more

Look: You cannot go through Hialeah without making a stop at Vicky Bakery. It's just plain ol' uncivilized! Like Linda N., I've been a Vicky customer since childhood. The recipes have not changed one bit and I love Vicky for that! It lets you know that any time of the day on any day that they are open, you will get EXACTLY the flavor you are craving from whatever it is you order. There are no bad days with Vicky. Only good days and only good food! Sensory overload for your eyes upon walking into the store. There are fake cakes and pinatas all over the place. (I think some of the displays have been there as long as I've been alive but that's okay!) Rows and rows of pastries and croquettas and sandwiches and cakes and pies and.......everything savory, sweet and calorieiscious lay safely enclosed in glass cases. Just take a number and start expanding your list of "I wants" as you anxiously wait to be called. All of the treats are cheap. If you go in there with $5, you'll come out with at least 8 different items and probably change leftover. One of my favorite things to do in Vicky is explain exactly what I want in my best Spanglish (which es muy mal) because the ladies rarely speak English. But it's Hialeah so you just roll with it. At the end of the day, points get across and I walk out with my white box of treats that will be lucky if they make it to a destination without being devoured in the car! This is the only bakery that I go to for my delicious Cuban pastries. They're cheap, delicious and there is SO much to choose from. They have everything from croquettas to new york style cheesecake. One thing I always get is the meat patty bandeja; only 6 bucks and comes with a good amount of bite sized meat patties. It's perfect for a small get-together. The only downside to this place is their customer service. Unless you hunt them down, they won't even notice you're in the store with them. read more

Ordered a toy story cake for my sons birthday. On the outside the cake was beautiful but when it came time to cut it we realized there was cardboard on the top of the cake which we weren't aware of. We were told it was all vanilla cake and whatever toys were on it. The baker did not mention to us there would be cardboard in it!!... The cardboard was covered which frosting and some decorations. I walked into the bakery a little after 7pm on Thursday ready to order Pan De Bono however, the bakery did not have any available. Well decorated custom birthday cake. Pretty on the outside, pretty bad on the inside. Buttercream icing was disgustingly sweet, vanilla cake was a dry sponge cake. Filling was bland. Cake was not ready to pick up at scheduled time, I lost 30 minutes waiting while they looked for my order. I was very disappointed with the cupcakes I had ordered for my quinceañera. Not only were they very difficult to work with and didn't understand my vision which was nothing complicated but the cupcakes arrived dry, hard, and overall I was displeased. I always order the same thing and everytime i order, they fail to include a scrambled egg croissant sandwich or they actually fidget to add the eggs to the sandwich. I've called to tell them and it's as if they dont care. They wont even bother to try and re-deliver it. This place has terrible customer service and the staff does not care. I gave them the benefit of the doubt but I'm done with this place. Staff is rude and they obviously cant inspect the order before sending it out. I work in Hialeah and we had some VIGs (Very Important Guests) in the office last Friday morning. I decided to try and order from Vicky's on my own account; I had no idea how wonderfully delicious the food was going to be! Holy moly, the cafe con leche was phenomenal! I'm a coffee freak! Got to have my coffee in the morning kinda person. The mini tray of combination pastelitos & pastries were a knockout! Thank goodness we were a skeleton crew on Friday or that tray wouldn't be enough for the whole office. It was gobbled right up before I even turned around to head back to my desk! I stopped here this morning on my way to work to grab some empandias so I walk in grab a number and wait for my number to be called and mind you there is only two other people that was in there with me and they was getting there order, in comes theses two ladies that walk straight to the counter and start to order and the lady behind the counter starts to take there order, so I say excuse me I was here first and you didn't pull a number in next. The lady behind the counter ask me does it matter who is next?! Me with my slick mouth said yes it does matter thats why you have to pull a number. So she says well can I take there order right quick I said no and the only reason I was like that was because the ladies was acting like they didn't understand what was going on and they was still trying to order like they was gon just Debo me so thats why I stood ten toes down ya dig. So it took the old papi to get the situation straight he told them grab a number and im next. The pastries are delicious but the service is awful! At first I thought it was because I do not speak Spanish but, then I witnessed it was across the board bad service. I had to go up to a group of 6 women standing around gossiping and ask for service! One women replied of course and the other 5 stared at me like I had 5 heads! They have authentic Cuban baked goods for cheap (especially if you buy the huge trays of baked goods/savory items or the combinations: check out their website for the tray pricing) that actually taste pretty good. They have a very wide selection of different types of pastries and of warm foods/savory items if you need catering or even if you just want a sandwich. I walked in, got my number and waited, and then two other men walked In. The lady in the front passes me about five times, but did not even acknowledge my presence, but says "Buenos Dias" to the two men who had come in after me. She also proceeded to serve them first. That is completely unacceptable. As she is finishing with the men, they also notice that I had been waiting there, unattended, and they apologized on behalf of the lady not serving me. They bluntly called her out for it right in front of her and I and she didn't even apologize to me. It was after she was embarrassed that she took my order. I live in NE Florida but I often visit Miami. Let me just say, Vicky's bakery in Hialeah is the highlight of my time in Miami. I have been to other Vicky locations but this one by far is the best. There's just something about this place. I find that all of the other Vicky's I've been too do not put enough filling in their pastries. You can tell this place really takes their time in making their pastries perfect. The only negative thing about this location is the staff who I guess don't know how to provide exceptional customer service. But hey, their pastries are so damn good that I could care less about how slow the staff moves. :) read more

She kept going to the back and would just walk by me, she was preparing another order but didn't tell me that, I wouldn't have known if I had not noticed. I proceeded in asking one of the other girls if she could assist me because they had already called 3 numbers after me and people were getting assisted while I wasn't. She helped me which she was a great help and I appreciate it. But I am very upset with the other woman and how she did not even bother to apologize to me or at least tell me why she wasn't helping me out and was completely ignoring me. Nobody tells you to grab a ticket they let you stare at the walls and assume you have to grab a ticket when you see other people grabbing tickets by then 3 people have gotten ahead of you.
