Being a native 305 I've never passed up an opportunity for a good frita and shake. This place doesn't change. They are constant, affordable, fresh food and the service is always good. There's plenty of seating and if you come early you can have the place to yourself. I ordered a frita and my coworker had a pan con biste. The food is made to order as well as it taste delicious. It may not be the healthiest choices however life is short. If you want to taste an original Cuban spot then you won't be disappointed.

Best Frita and pan con bistec I've had in a long time. Service was quick, staff were friendly, and the ambiance was on point. Also had a couple of delicious empanadas (beef and guava), not to mention the "cortadito" coffee was outstanding. Recommend this location and will go back soon!

Ever since I saw this place on mark weins youtube channel ive been wanting to go here. Im half Cuban and know about fritas. Fritas are a Cuban style burger. I was going on a cruise so we drove down to Miami the night before the cruise. The day of the cruise we came here for lunch. I would have rather gone to the OG spot in Calle 8 but the Hialeah location was on our route. This place looks like a little hole in the wall spot but don't be nervous about it and go on in! We walked in and sat down. The people working dont know much english but thats normal in miami. Our server was super nice. I ordered a supreme frita and it comes with the Cuban seasoned burger party, a thick piece of deep fried cheese, freshly made potato sticks, and sweet plantains. I absolutely loved the frita! So delicious. And I also ordered a malted milkshake. I loved my shake. My wife got a breakfast sandwich and it was awesome. Prices are super low here and you get a lot of food. They have a bunch of different fruit shakes so get one because they are so tasty. next time im in Miami I'll definetly go back.

Went in for a steak sandwich, looks better in the picture than it tastes. Service was good. Ambiance was ok. It was ok but not for a repeat visit.

Glad I got the chance to stop in for some of the most famous fritas around. This is not the original shop in Little Havana, but figured It would be about the same. Fritas were fresh, well seasoned, and juicy. Surprised that the onions were served raw and would prefer them sautéed as I've had at most other places. The buns were perfect little pillows of Cuban rolls, and the julienne potatoes were fresh. Tried the fries and the corn nuggets. Both came out piping hot, and were good, but nothing homemade or special. I sat in one of their booths to eat fresh and hot, and they also have plenty of counter seating. I think this would make for a perfect take out sack of fritas to bring home to the family. $5.50 each is a good price for what you get.

A Hialeah classic ! El rey de las fritas has to be your go to when you want to try or are craving a Frita and you're in Hialeah ! Delicious! I had a double frita and it hit the spot! The meat was filled with flavor the onions and fresh fried julienne potato sticks give you another layer of flavor and crunch! They also have several other variations of the frita which I am looking forward to try. To drink they have some natural juices and shakes. I will for sure be back to try some more fritas and juices ! Great value and flavor with this Hialeah classic spot ! El rey !

They have such cute drinks! I just got pineapple juice but my friends got their coconut drink and mojito and said it was to die for! For an appetizer, we got a sampler which had ropa vieja, plantains, empanadas, shredded pork, and some large fried potatoes. I loved that so you get to try a little bit of everything. The ropa vieja tasted just like grandmas. They use ropa vieja as the filling in the empanadas. The fried potato's was steak fry cut style. It was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I'm giving 3 stars for the service. Our server was nice, but there were a few things I wasn't too happy about. We were offered still or sparking water, so I said "still". I should've asked for tap water but it didn't cross my mind. The water was $12 which was a surprise since it was almost the price of the food! When I paid by card, the server with the credit card machine was on the phone speaking with the manager in Spanish. The screen of the credit card machine was faced away the whole time so we wouldn't have been able to see the total. It was a bit shocking being charged almost $37 for one dish that cost $17! The service charge is ~20% and already included in the bill. Even though the food was good, I felt a bit icky from this experience so I won't come again when I'm in Miami Beach. If it was only one of the above I would've been able to brush it off easier, but the combination of being charged for expensive water + not being shown the total before being charged + server being on the phone + 20% service charge before tip was quite a lot. I sat outside and it was really nice being right on the sidewalk and people watching! Cute restaurant and great location right in the heart of Miami Beach.

Our favorite time to visit is Sunday brunch, especially since they have a special menu. We recently came for Father's Day, and even though Julio was celebrating as a father himself, he was working incredibly hard to make sure every guest had a great experience. You can really see how much heart and dedication he pours into his business. As expected on Father's Day, there was a bit of a wait, especially since we were a larger party, but none of us minded. To thank us for our patience, Julio generously brought out croquetas for the table on the house, which was such a thoughtful gesture. I can't recommend Trigo Café enough. Having had a quick workday lunch and walked around the mall, I had worked up an appetite. I was seated in a corner table for two and my order was taken. The restaurant did not seem that crowded even for a Friday night but it felt like a long wait. Unlike many Cuban places, they don't offer complimentary bread. I ordered their "platanos a tentacion" (bacon wrapped sweet plantains), grilled chicken and moros. The rice was a little hard and the chicken breast on the small side and barely seasoned other than the onions garnishing it. Service didn't feel very attentive for me as a solo diner. Between finishing my dinner and waiting to order either dessert or cafecito, I also sat and waited until a waitress finally came by. At that point, I just got the coffee and my check. I don't believe I was offered a printed receipt, just the card terminal. I asked if the tip was included and pretty much in time when I was putting the usual tip (trying to be generous with 20 percent) I was told that it was a service charge, and that the tip was extra, but had full amounts starting with 18%. So basically I paid 30% tip for a small portion of food and inattentive service. Looking back, I see that this restaurant had a different name and I had enjoyed dinner at their other location six years back. It's disappointing to see how it has fallen off. As it were, a lot of the original creative items on the menu are no longer being offered.

When I first walked in, I was greeted by one of the servers. She spoke to me in Spanish and based on my response to her question, quickly switched to English. She sat me at a two-top. At first glance of the restaurant, it was decent size. They were doing construction around the entrance where the bar was, so it kind of took away from the appeal. While I've never commented on this before, I noticed my water and wine glass were so streaky. They weren't see through like usual but def. could have been cleaned/rinsed more. After being sat, I was given water and some focaccia crackers. While I loved the idea, the crackers were impossible to "dip" and made the oil pointless. For drinks, I went with the passionfruit margarita. They had a few cocktails to choose from, but this has been my go-to as of late. It was pretty good but nothing to write home about. As a starter, I went with the Cuban Caesar and for my main, I chose the pesto pasta and added chicken. The Cuban Caesar was easily one of the best I've had! I loved that it came in a Parmesan bowl and the yuca croutons were different but good! The croutons were a weird contrast because the salad was so cold and then you have these hot pillowy croutons with a weird texture. Regardless, I give the salad a 10/10. The pesto pasta was great; super rich but unfortunately, not much else. The chicken didn't have any seasoning and I almost wish I hadn't paid an additional $6 for it. The service was great and although they weren't that busy, I still believe it would have have still been good. Overall, I had a great time here and I may come back next time I'm in town.
