Ordered delivery and it was still hot when it arrived. Everything was great, I love a place where you can order a dish with meat, eggs, and fried plantains. The best thing that brings it all together is the super thick corn tortillas. I'll have to try in person next time. Also the best horchata I've had.

This is my second time and the first was better. The pupusas this time were light on cheese and cheese almost seemed more oily than thick and stretchy. The flour tortilla was on the thin side also. The plantains were better but not out of this world and muy atol de elote was a tad too sweet.

I've been CRAVING pupusas for the longest time ever! And we moved into the auburn area recently so the place I usually go to is a bit of a drive so we decided to check out what's around the area and stumbled upon this little gem. So me and my husband pulled in one thing I didn't like was how hard it is to park here, they share a parking lot with enterprise which sucks, so if you plan to come here, COME early! Parking is limited. So we walk into the cute small place and was seated down and a lady took our order! I got my usual pupusa with cheese, bean & pork & I tried the cheese mixed with jalapeños with horchata. It didn't take too long to get our order probably about 15-20 which I can't complain since they do make it on order everything is hot & fresh you can even see the ladies making the pupusas from where your seating! Price wise it was 3.10 per pupusa depending on which you got, but I got 3 cheese, pork & bean with 1 cheese and jalapeños. That's about $12 already and including my drink would be $15. My husband also ordered the same amount with a drink so you end up spending around $30 plus. So for the price of the pupusas I had HIGH expectations , I hoped I MEAN HOPED they didn't skip out on any ingredients. FINALLY THE TIME HAS ARRIVED. My order has came! So I tried my usual pupusa order cheese, bean & pork LET ME TELL YOU it was savory, flavorful , hot & thick! They literally made these pupusas thick with so much cheese and ingredients , i was beyond happy ! Cheesy , gooynesss with those amazing cuts of pork , ughhh my mouth is watering as I remember eating one, was not mad at all, IT WAS DELICIOUS. Of course they give you this big bowl of the toppings I'm happy they gave a lot usually pupusas places love to skip on that! And the salsa they had was spicy and flavorful too to add on! Next , I tried the cheese & jalapeño one OH MY GOD, it blew my expectations. It was filled with that same YUMY hot cheese with really mixed and mashed up creamy jalapeños all over my pupusa, if you LOVE SPICY, definitely ORDER these, you won't regret! Very happy with my meal. Also, service was fantastic , our server kept checking on us , asking if everything was good, if we needed anything! It was great! Would I recommend this place ? YES YESSS YESSS, 1,000 times over again so happy they really make pupusas amazing! And closer to home too! Check this place out ASAP, if you want to try something new and delicious COME HERE. Don't think about it twice.

The food was yummy and authentic bit of a wait but worth it, easier if you call order ahead.

This is the best burrito in all of Tacoma/Lakewood!!! I tell everyone to try them. People don't know what they are missing, because they are just getting pupusas. Who would think they would have great burritos. So, these are not like any other burritos, because they are not Mexican. They use their delicious black beans, their white rice with a few little veg, sour cream, onions, cilantro, you can get really good chile sauce if you want it spicy. The sauce is so good. No cheese... can you believe it? Cheese is not even needed. You can get chicken or carne asada, or like we got, no meat and they will add avocado slices. I really wanted no meat, and platano frito added. This is what we used to get, and it's great. They should add a no meat option to the menu, and also the platano option. Everyone that loves unique delicious burritos, come check this place out. The guy that took my order was friendly, and even made our burrito half no cilantro. Thanks! They get busy.

I ordered to-go, and I am genuinely surprised that they do not have more condiments available, especially with the salsa as I got 4 pupusas. No wet wipe, which may be asking for a lot, but at least make it up with the paper napkins. I love that it is near base, but u might as well order to eat-in the restaurant. That way u get all that u need. Better inspection on my end could have been done, but just :o at the...stinginess. That sounds like a harsh word, I know, but how else do I describe it...?

But in the last few weeks we have gone passed it they aren't open and there is a sign on the door saying they are closed for seep cleaning. I never owned a restaurant and neither do I know how long a deep cleaning could take. I suppose it varies depending on what is being cleaned. But as of 5/9/26 the restaurant remains closed. The last social media post from Facebook was January of '26. The website associated with this profile on Yelp doesn't seem to be working and neither does the website associated when you Google them which is very concerning. Hopefully they will be open again soon and none of this is subtleties amounting to a permanent closure.

There were a few reasons I tried Balcon Express. 1) never had El Salvadoran food, 2) close to my…read morehouse, 3) was recommended by a colleague, 4) Yelp reviews were very positive and saw that the restaurant responded to reviews which doesn't happen often - definite a plus! So, I parked - I found a street parking around the corner. It's a small establishment with an ADA bathroom. You can go and order with the staff, or you can order with a kiosk. I happened to do both! I asked the server who told me later that he was the cousin of the owner and el Salvadoran, what he would recommend. I ended up getting Combo 2 which is two tacos and a pupusa (which I've never had). Both I got pork and pupusa he said to get pork and cheese. I liked it ALL. Although the puousa is made of corn and tasty, I prob wouldnt order it again. I really, really liked the two tacos. The seasoning and taste was delicious!!! I am craving it right now as I am writing this review. They gave me condiments - 3 different hot sauces which I liked the avocado one which was a great creamy sauce. And there 3 pieces of lime and cut radishes. Plus, there were pickled onions which was tasty! I asked a lot of questions because I wanted to eat them all the way he would so The server told me to put the pickled onions on the pupusa. Oh, that made a huge difference. So delicious!!! Next time, I am just going to get 4 tacos - yep 4! lol and may try a burrito just to see how that is. I ended up getting a Jarrisco with Tamarind flavor. Oh it was a sweet and perfect complimentary drink. I will def be back! Really enjoyed it.
