Victor is completely Bipolar! One hour he's a decent guy the next, completely off the rails! I just brought back my truck for the 2nd transmission rebuild in 2 years. An hour after I picked up the truck I called him back to say that it was vibrating and shaking worse than ever and that something was seriously wrong! He got completely belligerent with me, telling me it was nothing he did, and not to bring my truck back to him? He supposedly rebuilt my 3rd & 4th gear and whatever else goes into overhauling a transmission. I hadn't yet paid him for the job, he told me not to bother paying him, which immediately raised a red flag! I had the truck towed to another mechanic who after examining it said, not only is my 9 month old transfer case completely shot, because whoever just worked on it didn't bother tightening any of the bolts, which cause the seal & yoke to blow out and all the fluid, essentially grinding it to shreds....Hence the violent shaking and grinding I told him about the day before. Oh yeah, and did I mention that he insisted that it was my exhaust that was causing the violent shaking of the truck! Not only that but my mechanic and a transmission guy swear that the transmission was never taken out of my truck, only the transfer case, which has now caused the extension housing to crack as well as the transfer case to Completely fail!...Long story short, do yourself a favor and stay away!! read more

This guy changed out a transmission on my collector car After I got the car home I noticed trans fluid on the floor. I called him and he said It was probably some o rings and and he would call me when convenient and I could bring the car back to fix what he said was not a big deal. Well it's several months now and every time I call him he he complains about how much work he has and not having time for me. I even stopped by and asked for the o rings and oil and ill get someone else to to finish the job. But he declined. Got transmission problems? Go see Victor. We were referred to Victor by another auto repair facility in Hopatcong, just a few minutes away. They told us that Victor does all their transmission work and can rebuild a transmission in as little as three hours since that's all he does, all day, every day. We showed up with a vehicle that was giving a warning for every piece of equipment involving the transmission. He took it for a drive, popped the hood, swapped out a fuse and that was it. We may have a problem in the future, but that seemed to fix it for now. He's very friendly, the shop is just like every other car shop, clean enough to be healthy, but you wouldn't want to sleep there. :) Anyway, I highly recommend Victor if you're in the area and have a transmission issue. Victor Dean was quick, kind, and straightforward. The shop was able to accommodate my transmission problem as soon as I called, diagnosed it quickly, and despite backordered parts, was able to have it completely repaired within about a day. It seemed like he wished he could have had it done faster. When I arrived this morning to pick up my car (a chilly day), he'd started it about 10 minutes prior so that it was warmed up for me. Called this transmission shop to see if they would look into my transmission that was making a horrible noise. Long story short amacco charged me 4g and after 3 rebuilt and no warranty I called Victor about my tranny. Not looking for any freebie or putty. And all I received on the call was, well you f up and I won't be your Lord and Savior.... And hung up. To your Victor I say horrible response to a customer who wanted to pay for your experience in the automotive transmission Field. But I was bless by your disrespectful and childish behavior that made me question you. Clearly if a customer is treated like a pile of burnt oil then how well are you with your hands? I just can't say enough great things about Victor Dean. I have a 2008 GMC Acadia and the trans went bad about a year ago. After being referred to Victor by my friend Scotty G.. "Auto MD" in Hackettstown (another great, honest mechanic), Victor told me the trans was shot, the GMC trans are for crap, and it would need to be rebuilt, which he did, and did all he could to save us as much money as possible, and he did. Victor is a tell it like it is, honest guy and I'm happy to recommend his expertise to anyone. After the trans was re-built, there was another minor issue, which he repaired, no charge. I tried to talk him into having lunch delivered for his shop, but all he wanted was to fix the problem and ensure I had a safe vehicle for my kids to drive. This guy is a flat out lair don't believe anything he says. I own a transmission shop and rebuilt a trans for a mini cooper That the customer supplied his own valve body for the car had an Issue with a clunk on one of the shifts. The customer wanted to have A different set of eyes look at it so it was brought to victor dean transmission for a second Opinion. He stated their were two bearings left out of the trans and the case was Damaged because of this and clutches were burnt also. He told him he needed to Buy a reman trans because his was so damaged. The trans was picked up from Victor dean transmission and brought back to me. I had a hard time believing I left parts out. after i opened the trans and what I found wrong was nothing, victor dean transmissions never took the trans apart there was no bad case no missing bearings no burnt clutches HE LIED about what he did. so be careful when he tells you, you need a trans that because never checked in the first place. This place is shady. Victor rebuilt my transmission, and within 400 miles it failed. After numerous phone calls and messages, I was told he had real work to do and he would call me back. Finally after all the games, I brought my truck to a real transmission shop. I was showed that the transmission had all the original parts, and was never rebuilt. Even the torque converter was OEM original. ( which was clearly printed on my receipt as replaced. ) I DO NOT recommend this shady shop. Take your vehicle somewhere else. Save your money. read more
