I used to love Victor's, mostly because it's one block from my apartment, but convenience doesn't keep you warm at night / make you look good in your LinkedIn profile picture. 1. Prices seem to fluctuate a lot. 2. They have recently stopped accepting credit cards. 3. They always call me "Jay" for some reason (not actually mad about this, I sort of wish that were my name sometimes). 4. Every employee always has a facial expression of profound sadness (see: Jewel on the cover of her second album, "Spirit"). True, they are skilled and take their time to get all the details right. But my hair grows fast and I have to cut it every 3 weeks, I'll walk 10 blocks to save $10. read more

Victors Hair Salon is the best place to get a haircut in Washington, DC. Period. I am very picky about how my hair is cut, and often ask for different styles (I'm not the easiest customer). Nobody is better about listening to what I want and then following through. He doesn't even take exception if you make small requests as the cut is going. I was worried the low price meant I would get a generic haircut, but this is not the case at all. I have spent way more on haircuts not half as good. Victor takes his time, pays attention to the details, and always has a smile. He shaves with a straight razor (if you like) and does a great job all around. He is a great barber and person to talk to. This is absolutely the place to come if you are looking for a great haircut in the district. read more

The woman who cut my hair is the older hispanic lady who has 30 years experience cutting hispanic and latin hair. Since my hair is similar, I had great results. Unfortunately, I have to update my review. I recently set an appointment for Monday at 6:30 over the phone and unfortunately was met with a closed sign when I showed up. No sign... no nothing. Just closed. For someone who lives in Arlington, VA currently, coming out of my way is a real pain and just made me waste metro fare, especially when haircuts are so expensive here and I have to get cash before I come. Call me the comeback kid, cuz I'm coming back to this place over and over! For the best value haircut (or just the best haircut) in DC, Victor's your man. $25 plus tip, not too shabby. THE CUT: I get a Draper-ish cut and my hair is thick as sage brush, so it requires a lot of thinning on top to get it to lay down. Most haircutters use thinning shears, those weird scissors that cut like half your hairs or something (sure feels like cheating). The real experts just use their regular shears, and that's what our boy Victor does. THE MAN: Victor is a true master. He's meticulous, professional, and so patient. I was running 10 minutes late and called him, and he said, Take your time. Then, I arrived at the wrong location and called him, and he said, Take your time. I've been living in DC for 8 years, and Victor is the best barber in town, hands down. His haircuts are great, and include a razor blade trim of your sideburns, neck & behind the ears. Plus he is a genuinely nice & caring person. I'm not one to spend a lot of money on a fancy haircut - but at Victor I can get a "fancy quality" haircut for a reasonable price, less then $20. read more

I have been going to victor's hair salon for 4.5 years, ever since I moved to DC. At that time, his shop was on Columbia Rd and I lived a few blocks away on Harvard St, so logistically it made more sense to go there and give it a shot (all my neighbors went there and loved him) rather than travel far for upscale salons. Believe me, I had my doubts. I get full highlights, which people messed up all the time when I went to bubbles or hair cuttery. However, victor's wife Irma did my highlights so well that they might be the best I have ever had. I have come back ever since. The only negative is that she takes a long time (like 4 hrs) - but hey, I have long hair and it takes an artist time to make her masterpiece, right? I would say take off early from work one day - and bring a book - it's worth the wait. The other great thing is that my fiancé goes to victor, and I go to his wife, so they know us really well. Victor is super friendly and remembered me even after I had been away for work for a year. He won't even take a tip from my fiancé anymore for a hair cut because he appreciates our loyalty and business. He even invited us to his 50th birthday party in Guatemala lol. Needless to say, they are a great couple running an awesome mom and pop hair cuttery that you will enjoy both the service and the haircut. I found Victor's on Yelp and am thankful I have finally found a barber I feel comfortable going to regularly. Victor listens to what you want and provides input on what styles will work for your hair. He does not rush, he pays attention to details and does an awesome job. I've tried Bang Salon on U st multiple times but it always felt really rushed. Bang cuts start around $35, so at $25 for a cut at Victor's I can get better service and go more often. This will be the first and last review I write-up on Yelp. Writing reviews is just not my thing. However, for my man Victor, I must make an exception. I've been going to Victor now for 5 years. I accidentally found him when I lived in Adams Morgan and he was located on Columbia Road. As I walked in there was just no way I could have known the awesomeness of Victor's talents. 5 years later, I'm thoroughly convinced that there's just no better barber in DC. And I use the term barber in the truest sense of the word. This man does not just cut your hair. He treats you with respect, class, kindness, and is as genuine a person there is. He spends the time and attention to ensure that your treated well and takes great pride in his product. He recently moved to his new T street location. His rent was jacked up at the Columbia Road location and he was forced to move out. The new spot is actually even more convenient to get to. Metro accessible and right off of U street. No matter where he had moved to, I'd still make the effort to go to him. Lastly, if you're reading this review, I'd urge you to please go support Victor's business. He's a hard working immigrant man, owning and operating his own business, and pursuing the American dream of creating a better life for his children and grandchildren. Victor is a great barber! I've had over 10 haircuts at Victor's Hair Salon and have walked out happy every time. Most haircuts were done by Victor, while a few were done by one of the women that works there. Unlike many other places, when I come out of Victor's I never have anything bad to say about a hair cut. Victor pays attention to detail and uses scissors more than electric razors. After being a longtime customer at Diego's Hair Salon at Dupont Circle (Diego and staff are great), I wanted to find somewhere closer to home, since I rarely make it out to Dupont Circle. I've tried most of the reasonably (ie $20 or less for a hair cut) priced hair cut places in Mt. Pleasant, Columbia Heights, and Adams Morgan, easily coming to the conclusion that Victor's Hair Salon is the best. read more

This haircut is unbeatable. And for the price (~$25), the value is off the charts. I've had more expensive haircuts that don't even come close to Victor's level. Victor is an amazing barber, and takes great care with your hair. I got a rinse and shampoo when I walked in, and he cut my hair to exactly the length that I asked. I got a medium-short mens cut, and he used scissors the entire time, except for at the end he used a straight razor around my ears and neck. Victor is also great to talk to during the hair cut. Old school customer service in a modern salon! My husband used to get his haircut at DC Barbers across from the Zoo, but it recently closed. On a lark, he tried Victor's on Columbia street in AdMo and what a diamond in the rough! Although the exterior entrance looks like one of the neighboring liquor stores, the interior is spacious, clean as a pin, and very modern with tasteful music. The stylist was very friendly, professional and hygiene-conscious. She gave him a great haircut, neck shave, and shampoo all in 30 min. for 18 dollars -- a bargain for the total experience. read more
