This is the place I've been looking for since I moved to Capitol Hill. Jajo's is a barber shop. $26 and you get a great haircut in under 10 minutes. No appointment needed. Limited waiting and the line moves fast. I think there were 5 people ahead of me (which is a real good sign) and within 10 minutes I was in the chair and 10 minutes later I had paid and was out the door. I was going to another place for a while and it's more than 2x the cost for the exact same haircut. I can wash my hair at home and save $30. I'd rather go to Jajo's at 2x the frequency. Nice people, great price, fast service, great haircut. This is my new spot. read more

I moved here 7 months ago and have been going to Bishops and it's been a decent hair cut but felt a little over priced for what you got the i found Jajos and and this will my new spot. The male stylist at the shop was extremely hostile slamming his comb into my head and cutting the sides of my hair so fast it felt like my hair was being snatched out, then when he went to do the fine trimming he cut into my neck and that was the point at which I I got up and told the barber he was entirely too aggressive, the female stylist offered to trim the rest of my hair I was so uncomfortable and enraged I said no thank you, I paid and left I will never go back. I was never rude demanding or lost my composure the only conclusion I can draw from this extremely unethical and unprofessional treatment is that this particular Barber has some sort of biase / prejudice against caucasians . read more

The barber acted like doing his job was a personal inconvenience, and the result on my head is proof he has no business holding scissors. Tremendous haircut, but they trimmed my mustache without my permission and messed it up royally. When asked why they did that they responded "to show the lip". The entire point of my mustache's style was that it covered the top lip. I went from Ned Flanders to a gross narrow pedo stache with a wide gap of skin between my lip and stache. No real apology or attempt to rectify the situation was made. They instead asked if I was single and said my girlfriend would appreciate the smaller mustache. I love this place and the people! Barbers and stylists here are VERY meticulous and take their time to get the job right. It's clear that English is not their first language, but that doesn't stop them from asking me questions and making sure that I'm satisfied with my hair. My hair is kinda like a faded pixie cut, so it doesn't require much effort to cut. Unfortunately, it's really annoying to pay $40+ (not to mention that a woman's cut is more costly than a man's) for a 10-min haircut. But THIS place? $22 cash (not including tip. Please tip well because these barbers really deserve it for their hard efforts!) for a full 20-30 min cut! And no price differentiation between men's and women's cuts! I'm won over. This place is definitely my go-to spot, and I'm recommending it to all my friends. Hope this place never goes out of business. Bring cash if you can. This is my go to spot for haircuts. The manager knows my name and always greets me when I go in. The quality of your haircut can vary depending on who cuts your hair. I usually ask for Michael - he spends a lot of time and gets all your details right, so I really appreciate his attention to detail. He also sometimes randomly finishes the haircut with a quick backrub, which is appreciated. I have gotten a younger guy to cut my hair a few times (don't know his name), and he often messes up my part. The other folks do a competent job too, but in my opinion not as expert as Michael. The prices are also very reasonable - about $25. You can also grab some bottled water on your way out. read more

I'm so split on Jajo's! On the one hand, this is definitely not the place to go if you have a particular haircut. Like other reviewers have said, this is a very "in-and-out" type of haircut place. That being said, on both occasions, I have had great haircuts here! I'm a big fan of the location. Since I live close to Barracks Row, you can't beat this spot. Also, paying $24 (card) for a haircut? What a great deal!! The stylists here that I've worked with range from pretty quiet during the haircut, to talkative. I haven't had any bad experiences - mostly I feel really comfortable while I'm getting my hair cut. Overall, this place is great if you go in with your expectations set. My partner and his son have been going to Jajo for 4 years and always look great. I was in desperate need of a haircut post-quarantine and decided to give it a try. I'm so happy I did! Jenny is fantastic - while Jajo's is better known as a barber shop she shared with me that she solely cut women's hair back in Vietnam. This is not a typical salon experience (Jenny did a dry cut, so no shampooing or blow drying), which I understand may not be for everyone but I loved the efficiency. She also styled it exactly how I do with a flat iron so I didn't leave the salon concerned I'd never be able to replicate the look. The price is also super reasonable - women's haircuts start at $30; because I have long thick hair mine was $45. I am super happy with the whole experience and the outcome. Will be back! read more

I used to love Jajo's because they gave you a decent haircut at a great price. You'd never expect to get a great haircut there, but you'd also never get a bad haircut either. And the price was unbeatable for DC. While the quality hasn't changed, the prices have. It seems like every time I go now, the price has gone up by another $2. In 2019, it was $18 cash / $20 credit. A year ago, it was $22 cash / $24 credit. It's now $30 cash / $32 credit. That's still a better price than other barbershops in the area, but the quality to value ratio just doesn't make sense anymore. I still go to Jajo's when I'm in a hurry, but otherwise I've started going to barbers who charge only slightly more for a much better cut. read more

Been a customer for 2 years - was interested in how they were handling the coronavirus. Went today and was very pleased with the service. Appointment only, no one allowed to wait in line, one barber per room, all employees masked, rooms cleaned after each haircut. My barber, Don, said I could leave my mask on and he would work around it and only lift up the part by my ears to complete the cut in that area. The best place for a man to get a haircut. You can just walk in, no appointment (although with the lockdown, I guess appointments are now required). You don't wait long, the price is rather low, and you are in and out in no time. I am mostly balding so I don't need anything fancy, and they always do a great job. But what I love most is that they do a hot towel, wipe your face down if it's sweaty, and they carefully shear around the ears and neck. It feels great! The only thing I dislike is the ugly greenish color they painted the place, and the Vietnamese music can get on your nerves, but the staff is always friendly and happy to see you. read more

A gem in Capitol Hill! The staff is polite and professional. Some nights are busy (Thursday!) due to the nearby Marine Corps base but usually the wait is minimal. I've never been disappointed by my haircut and they never appear to be rushing to "get it over with". Jason met us at the door and when my turn came introduced me to Jenny, the stylist. I was way overdue for a haircut, so showed her a picture of what it used to look like (after a good haircut). She took a look and just nailed it! She knew exactly what to do, perfectly, and did the same for my wife who says, "It's the best hair cut I have ever had!" I have been looking for a barber shop that will shave both sides of my hair for a price that won't break the bank. I was around 8th street area and decided that it would make sense to go to a barber shop around this area because of all the military men. I found Jajo's on yelp and decided to try it out. When I walked in, there was a line for a specific person, but I was able to be seated right away. Linda cut my hair and she did a pretty good job of it. She didn't wet my hair (I'm sure that costs extra), and typically when my hair isn't wet while getting cut, it won't be a perfect cut. Linda used the razor on me as well as a hot towel for my head and my face. It was such a wonderful experience. All of that for $15. Not bad at all.
