Of course, we wanted perfect pictures...but we also wanted to feel comfortable with our photographer on our big day. After viewing many websites and contacting many photographers, we chose Siang and Lightphoria because of Siang's personality and his love for photography. Siang is easy to work with and listens to all your concerns and needs. We started off with a couple's session (aka engagement session) where we went around Seattle, taking pictures and breaking the ice. We turned these pictures into a guestbook, which ALL our guests adored and could not stop talking about!! Siang not only made sure he had good shots, but he took the time to develop a photographer/client connection (being socially awkward and all, boy did we take up a lot of his time). Seriously though, many photographers can take perfect pictures by working with lighting and the basic rules of photography 101. But only great photographers can capture those indescribable moments where one glance from the bride or that look in the groom's eyes captures feelings from that day. Siang has captured some of these "moments." When I look at my photos, I don't see just family and friends - instead, I see love, happiness, nervousness and joy. It is these intangible moments that Siang captures so beautifully. You won't be disappointed with Lightphoria or Siang if you ask him to freeze frame important moments in your life. We love him so much that we plan to have him at other special occasions in our life such as anniversaries, the start of our family and our children's birthday. Siang knew just what to say, when to say it, and how to make everyone involved feel special and at ease. Siang was probably the only one who knew how to handle the devious flower girls and apprehensive ring bearers in the hot August sun. No double chins any where either! I've also had the pleasure of attending another wedding that Siang photographed. In both weddings the bride and groom felt like the photographs made their weddings seem that much more beautiful and fun! Nothing but rave reviews on his genuine, comfortable approach to wedding photography, not to mention the gorgeous shots. Tash is really intuitive, kind, and attentive and always quick to help. When I came across John's portfolio I was really struck not only by his photography style, attention to lighting, and interest in scouting for visually interesting areas to shoot at but also by his talent to capture such great moments, how everyone he photographed seemed so natural and comfortable. I really recommend doing an engagement session with John before your wedding. It really does help make your wedding day go all the more smoothly, since John's already had a day to gain rapport with you (we did a hike together at his suggestion and loved it). We just got our wedding pictures back (the craftsmanship and thoughtfulness of the box they prepared for us is just incredible) and I am so happy and thankful that John has been our photographer. We are so happy with our engagement and wedding pictures and I am so excited about how many beautiful moments he caught, like the look on the groom's father's face when he saw his son and silly things like how the dog and I looked at each other at first sight (with the groom). I first became aware of Ben's talent after seeing some portraits he did of my friends who are in a band. This was several years ago. Since then, I've followed Ben's blog regularly because all of his photos are just so beautiful. When I got engaged, I knew immediately I wanted Ben to photograph our wedding, but I didn't bother to consider him because I figured his rates were too expensive. However, after checking out several other wedding photographers and not being satisfied with their talent, I thought, "Why not?" I was shocked when I got Ben's rate booklet and saw that his packages are much lower than any other photographer I queried. And he's the most talented! We booked him immediately after that. Thank goodness our wedding was in April (outside wedding season) because he was free! I heard his calendar is usually booked solid during the summer months. As the big day approached, we met a couple times to discuss the day-of timeline and any requests we had. Ben was willing to arrive at any time we needed him, and willing to stay as late as we wanted. Such a dedicated photographer! I don't think it's right when photographers charge by the hour because they can totally miss some camera-worthy shots. Ben's style is photojournalistic, but that doesn't mean he can't do portraits. (As I mentioned, the first work I saw of his was portraiture.) We just received our photos a couple days ago and they are incredible! Ben even delivered many more photos than was listed in our price package. And it only took 6 weeks to edit and deliver! I imagine this was partly because our wedding was one of the first of the season, but such a fast turnaround is almost unheard of. I have a friend whose photos were promised at 6 MONTHS, but still took nearly a year! I posted them on Facebook and words my friends used to describe the photos are "phenomenal", "wonderful", and "gorgeous." Viewing the photos is almost like reading a storybook of my wedding day, or seeing footage off a hidden camera. Ben got so many shots of people unawares, which truly capture the emotion they felt. I keep going back through the photos because are they are so good. It's an addiction! Thank you, Ben, for being so kind, generous with your time, quick to communicate, and for your amazing attention to detail. Highly, highly recommended!
