Don't bring your nice sneakers here!! I went in for a simple sole replacement and somehow he significantly messed up the back of the shoe - it's scraped off on both shoes even though there was no need to touch that part to replace the black soles. And it was $60. Beware.

Yet another fantastic job by Steve. Fixed a beautiful cole haan leather heel for me. Beautiful job!

Steve's craftsmanship is worth every dollar. I attached some before/after pictures of my suede shoes that Steve helped me re-sole, clean, and repair. They are good as new and I daresay even better. I will be back!

I needed to have a pair of ballroom dance shoe heels cut down about a 1/2" to a more comfortable height. Steve did an excellent job lowering the heels and re-tipping the shoes. He also moved the heel to make sure that it was balanced properly. I was able to use them for a dance party and they worked beautifully. I also found out that he is an Argentine Tango dancer so he definitely understood my situation. :-)

I had the pleasure of working with Jay, who was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and easy to talk to. From the moment I walked in, he took the time to understand exactly how I wanted everything to fit instead of rushing through the measurements. I brought in quite the assortment too: a Filson trucker jacket, a pair of raw denim jeans, and my Red Wing Iron Rangers. He was confident in his recommendations while still making sure the final result matched what I was looking for. You can tell Jay takes pride in his craft, and that level of experience gave me a lot of confidence leaving my favorite pieces in his hands. Customer service like his is hard to come by, and it made the entire experience enjoyable. The only reason I'm giving four stars instead of five is the price. The total came out to around $340, which definitely caught me off guard. To his credit, Jay was kind enough to give me a discount on the jeans and only charged me $300 cash, which I really appreciated. Quality craftsmanship isn't cheap, and I understand you're paying for experience. If you're looking for someone who knows what they're doing and treats your clothing and footwear with care, Jay is someone I'd recommend. Just be prepared for premium pricing.

Unfortunately, because they are only open during regular work hours, I wasn't able to make it on the day they said they would be ready. I came the next day at 3:30 when they supposedly close at four, but they were already closed. I came back the next week at 3:30 and again they were closed. I returned the next day on Saturday around 11 AM and again they were closed. I finally was able to pick them up three weeks later and when I arrived, I was chastised for having left my shoes there for so long despite having tried to pick them up three times already. They told that I have to come on the day they say they'll be ready for pick up which is impossible for me since I work at a 9 to 5. The WORST PART is that in addition to the difficulties of obtaining my shoes after repair, they aren't even fixed. The FIRST time I put them on the glue came undone. See photo. So now I paid $30 for nothing

That's kind of pricey for a place that looks and smells the way it does. While there, I asked how much it was to Scotchguard a pair of suede heels, she said $20. That's also pricey. I know it's less at Anthony's in the city. I just bought a bottle of suede guard at Nordstrom and took care of a few pairs of shoes. Maybe they thought they could charge me more because the pants I brought it were brand new and still had the price tag on it. She had the nerve to ask me who's pants they were and if I really paid $250 for them. I should have just left. It's none of your business, lady. Going back to Anthony's next time.

This job proved to be so difficult that the other shop tried and failed and had to send me away! My tailor sent me to the Shoe Clinic, and I loved it on sight. It's got tons of old-fashioned charm, with wood-paneled shoe shine stations all along the wall. But even better than the ambience is that they were able to dye my shoes perfectly for $36! Spent 4 hours mixing the perfect color, and then tested samples in a variety of lights (outdoor sun, outdoor shade, indoor flourescent, indoor incandescent) to ensure consistency. WOW. That's real pride in craftsmanship. 02/19/08 UPDATE - Please note that they do not accept credit cards. So bring CASH because really, who carries around a checkbook anymore?!?

I was shocked when I opened my app to see a $410 total charge. 12 items were drycleaned even though none of the labels say to dry clean (including cotton and linen tops/dresses). I'm worried it will be my last one too. Update: they called to explain that they have a had directed my order to the "Clean & Iron" department (includes dry cleaning) instead of "Wash & Fold" because it had dresses, (cotton) sweater and blouses. Thankfully, they refunded part of the extra charges, and gave me a Purple Tie credit for the remaining extra charge (worth 15lb of laundry.) They also added notes on their end to make sure any future orders go through wash & dry by default. I'm satisfied with their follow up and customer service (although I would have preferred full refund to credit card)
