I bought my dress at Anthropologie and Victoria's bridal was on their list of recommended tailors. Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience. I sent detailed images of my dress and was quoted $800. A couple of months later, at the end of my first appointment, the tailor handed me a bill for over $1600. After I checked with her, she took a couple hundred off for the bustle but basically said sometimes prices of materials and services change. I was completely shocked. This drastic price change should be communicated to customers. I was lucky that I could scrape together an unplanned expense and pay more than my dress for alterations... But I am a teacher and this was a pretty big blow financially. I should have taken my dress back then and gone somewhere else, but I figured that I wouldn't have time and told myself it was worth it. It wasn't. The seamstress was not friendly, and didn't take questions well. When she finished the bustle it was a line of hooks (like small bra hooks) along the back of my dress and was an eyesore. I took it back and she fixed the bustle, but this left holes along the seam where the hooks were. My fitted dress had buttons down the back, and after tailoring a button under my butt didnt lay right and caused a weird fold if I leaned back at all. When I brought this up, she snapped "you won't be bending over backwards at your wedding!" And didn't address it further. Well, I just got my photos back and that weird fold is apparent in many of my photos. That spot makes it look ill fitted and sloppy. (And yes you WILL be bending back at your wedding when dancing, dipping, kissing, and laughing!) Also, when I took my dress in to get the bustle fixed, her assistant told me an incredibly disturbing annecdote about wanting to euthanize his cat by putting it in the freezer... Not what you want to hear when you're in wedding mode (or ever!!!) All in all, this was one of the most stressful and disappointing parts of planning my wedding. I shed many tears. The whole process made me dislike my dress from all of the stress associated with it. I would not recommend this place. read more

It was lovely working with Nora and the team at Victoria's Bridal. We had a very short schedule for everything to plan this wedding and get a lot done ourselves in just 3 months. I bought a sample dress almost exactly a month before the wedding date. Despite our hurry the team were courteous, professional, and very body-positive! I felt incredible after they had customized my too-tight fitting, intricately beaded mermaid-style dress. After not being emotional or particularly attached to any of the dresses I had quickly tried, I fell in love with; the Kitty Chen "Andrea" that did not quite zip when I purchased it. They did an incredible job adding that inch, created the many-point bustle needed and showed us how to do "bustling" in a video my maid-of-honor filmed. Thank you SO so much for working with me and making our wedding day so special! Everyone was BLOWN AWAY by my ceremony/ dinner dress, both by the fit and how elegant it was. I wish I could have worn it all night, but it is a masterpiece that I would have deeply regretted damaging. So they somehow, very graciously on our tight timeline, also fit in alterations for a second "dancing" gown that I partied down in and even got to wear back to the hotel instead of changing yet again!! My second dress was gorgeous as well, worked wonderfully for dancing, and was absolutely comfortable; this one they had to take-in, shorten and reconstruct the corset at the base where it had ripped with the prior owner. I highly recommend you call Victoria's Bridal and see if they are a good fit for you! read more

Let me start out by saying that I really loved working with everyone in Victoria's Bridal Couture, from the quote process to measurement appointment to final fitting appointment, Victoria and her team were really great to work with, incredibly accommodating with their appointment times (because of course everyone wants the late night evenings/weekends). I only price checked with one other place but Victoria's came out "cheaper" (although I think Seattle in general is just more $$, mine care out to about $600 for bustle, boob cups, and taking in at the waist a hint + tax). A couple of things that have left me to leave this two star review, despite the above: At my final fitting, I noted that the boob cups felt really low, but I was told that how the dress naturally fits on my hips, that the dress might feel unnaturally low and that I'm just not used to how the dress sits and how exposed my chest was. When I got home, I tried the dress on and really didn't like how it felt. Luckily, my mom was able to sew the boob cups a little higher into the dress, which made me feel more secure in my dress and not feel like a boob was gonna pop out in front of 120 guests. Not a big deal, my mom came to the rescue. My major gripe comes from the bustle that was put in. My bustle was a three point bustle held up by these strong plastics tabs. I know partly the issue comes from the lace and the weight of my train, but the plastic tabs ended up ripping through the lace leaving a big hole (see pictures for reference). It's not like I'm going to wear this dress again, but severely disappointed that should I decide to resell this dress, I will have to get this fixed. Maybe it's a cheap fix but I'm really disappointed that the damage happened and the materials/weight of the dress weren't considered when putting the bustle in. Perhaps more points should have been put in or a different type of bustle should have been considered. Either way, I would leave it up to the professionals to know. Because of this, I have to leave a less than glowing review. Again, great to work with but the end result disappointed me. read more

The staff person was rude when my mom asked a question she seemed to think was stupid. When we left I asked the staffpersons's name. She had never introduced herself or asked our names. Thank you to the caring staff who were able to get me in during a busy time for a quick alteration despite that my schedule was super tight (married in 2 months but spending 1 month of that in Europe for reception over there!) Victoria added cups in my sweetheart neckline, took in the bust, took out a small seam in the booty area (since it was super tight and I couldn't sit! ) and added a bustle. Rush few was $75 which wasn't horrible and I was happy to pay for them being so accommodating and fitting me in THAT DAY that I called in a panic. Total was about $350 for my alterations + rush fee. I bought a dress off the rack (size 8), and I needed to take it down to a size 4. I called some alteration places around, and I also dropped into one for a consult and decided to never go back to one because she suggested that we cut the dress at the waist to hem it. I was worried because I thought that it would ruin the form of the dress (ballgown) and it was also organza. She suggested we could take it in from the bottom but that would cost me more. I appreciated the fact that she wanted to give me $ and $$$ options, but when she suggested the cheaper option, she promised me that it wouldn't ruin the silhouette of the dress. It just didn't sit right with me, and I decided to go to Victoria's for a consult. From the get go, the girls were ALL sweet and I felt comfortable. I asked if it was possible to bring the dress in by the bottom, and the girls said it was the only way to do it, as it would mess up the silhouette of the dress. I was recommenced to this place from the place I bought my dress. They told me that she was very good, so I decided to spend the extra money so that I wouldn't have to worry about anything. The alterations to the length and the waste were great, but my dress had roaching all the way down the front which requires only two little loop threads every so often. Victoria quickly did the loop threads before I took it but she didn't knot them and I though, "well, she is the pro, so I am sure it will be fine". When I got down to Mexico for my wedding, it had all come out! Luckily, my husband's Aunt was there and knew how to sew. It wasn't exactly calming and a bit shocking since I paid $350 for the alterations. She is a good seamstress, but that last minute sloppy work can not be overlooked for someone's wedding! read more

My daughter and I went to two other alteration shops for her wedding dress prior to coming here. Both were highly reviewed. At the first one the price for a hem and bustle was the same price as the dress! At the second place they were very unfriendly and didn't even say hello or look us in the eye! On a whim that same day my daughter and I went to Victoria's to look at veils. We told Theresa and Kate our experience with the unfriendly place and they asked if we had the dress with us. My daughter then put it on and they gave us a quote right there and then and it was almost half the cost of the first place! My daughter has since had two appointments with Kate and the dress looks beautiful. Kate is so sweet and made my daughter feel very special and like her dress was gorgeous. The dress was finished yesterday and it fit beautifully. I was shown how to do the bustle as well as how to tie up the corseted back of the dress. All in all we had a lovely experience. At 32 years old, I was looking for a superb dress shop that I could afford, without the plasticity of a lot of the big name stores(difficult, right?!). After a failed run at I Do Bridal, I landed at Victoria's Bridal and decided on a custom dress around $900. The custom option allowed me to pick material, fit, length, petticoat fluffiness, color, and buttons. Appointment by appointment, piece by piece, my dream wedding dress was created. Victoria personally paid attention too all details including appropriate length, bust, even a minor corset detail I would have missed. Since the dress was made for me, I did not have to work with any surprise alterations charges either. At each appointment, Victoria and Danielle took the time to meet with me and update me about how the dress was coming along. I was asked for an initial deposit, but allowed to pay for the dress over the next 9 mos. This made it very easy, and I did not feel "sunk" by a single purchase. I also was not pressured into any additional purchases, and felt comfortable working with Victoria and her team. I highly recommend Victoria's Bridal to any bride. I wish I could give this place a better review, because some of their dresses looked down-right amazing. The reason why I cannot is because my maid of honor and I came in on a weds. There was only one other client there. She has getting her dress fitted and everyone was ooh-ing and ahh-ing. We were there for a good 20-30 minutes or so before leaving. On our way out the door..literally, when my hand was on the door to exit, we were approached and told "let us know if we can help you with anything". That might have been nice to know as we were entering, not exiting. I wasn't clear on who was working at the time or where they were, but if I am going to spend 800-1200 dollars on a dress, at least say Hello when the customer steps inside...on a weds when there's only one other person there! read more

I found this place by accident and I recommend it to everyone. The prices are a little higher for many of their gowns but you can find plenty that fit any budget. The staff at Victoria's Bridal is very kind and patient. When I was there picking up my gown (from being cleaned) I saw them handle a picky customer with more patience than I would have had. (Ladies, don't order your gown, gain a lot of weight and then blame the gown shop, k?) Also, couple of other perks...if you buy white shoes from them, they will dye them black after the wedding for no extra charge so you can wear the shoes again; they have frequent sample sales and offer sample gowns for great prices. read more

I can not say enough good about this store. In search of my perfect wedding dress, I have been to every bridal store in a 50 mile radius of Seattle. This one is by far the best. The staff is the most knowledgable, patient and flexible. The dress selection is terrific and the owner really knows what gowns will work with what types of bodies. They not only showed me many gowns in stock, they also found options for me in a variety of catalogues and then worked with the manufacturers to make the customized changes I desired. Finally, a place to that makes the experience of finding a wedding gown as beautiful as it is supposed to be. Well, it is now several months past my wedding and I must edit this review. Unfortunately, when it came right down to it, the dress did not look as good as it should have for the amount I paid for a custom made dress and it was not completed until the day before my wedding, despite having started the process 6 months in advance. It turns out, the designer did not understand what I wanted, despite many explanations, pcitures and discussions about it. The good news is it was a great wedding to a great man. read more

Hi, I went here for bridal alterations based on a recommendation from I Do Bridal, where I purchased my dress. Though some reviews here seemed to think that Victoria and her staff were rude, I felt that the shop had a higher quality feel than others in the area and didn't want to take any risks with my dress. My wedding was last May, and I went in a few months before that to see about alterations. The shop was quiet and I was the only one there, which I appreciated. After helping me into my gown, Victoria and (I can't remember her name, but the team member who I also spoke to on the phone and was very pleasant!) had me walk around a bit and remarked how well my dress already fit. It was a little long, but honestly just about an inch once i had my heels on, and though I had a bit of wiggle room in my sleeves and waist, they both remarked how I would want to be able to hug people and sit easily without worrying about tearing my dress--a thought I hadn't considered. At the end of the day, all my dress needed was a bustle. It was about $50 and Victoria went in the back to add the bustle while I waited for ten minutes and it was done! I had been expecting a few hundred dollars and weeks away from my dress but thanks to Victoria and her team's honesty, my dress was perfect and I have hundreds on alterations. In short, I think very highly of these two as they put my needs above charging me money for work I really didn't need done on my dress! Would recommend. read more

I was super happy with my alterations here. I purchased my wedding dress second hand, so it was HUGE on me. The place I purchased it from recommended Victoria's Bridal and they gave me a 10% off coupon. In the end, she hemmed the entire bottom which was 4 layers and brought in the waist a ton. It fit perfect. I was afraid I'd be pulling up the dress all night since it was strapless but it sat on my hips perfectly. I wish I could give this place a better review. It's great for dress shopping and purchases. I would just avoid it for alterations. I had two great appointments shopping for dresses. I purchased my dress here. The assistant was very friendly, helpful, and always remembered me. There was no need for appointments during weekday visits. The dressing area is quite nice. I was somewhat frustrated that the owner hides the true model-name of designer dresses, "to prevent price-comparisons". In this age of internet access, that seems to serve no purpose but to annoy the customer. I thought I'd purchased a sample of a particular model, but it turned out to be an older, much-poorer-quality version that didn't alter well - it was hard to know this with the names switched, and the assistant and Victoria did not know the history of the dress. But all was okay until the alterations. I felt a bit cheated out of an enjoyable alterations experience. I was treated somewhat brusquely, no measurements were ever taken, Victoria did not ask me any questions about my concerns of its fit, I had to insist on an earlier alterations time (they wanted to start 3 weeks before my wedding.. . no way!). I had to request 3 times for her to bring the bust in enough (she and the assistant assumed I'd want to throw a bunch of padding in my bra and this was not the case). After 3 appointments and $300 in fees, I was still unhappy with the bust's fit. It puckered terribly, and the extra material just gathered in a giant dart that poked me in the armpit. The train's bustle was also so low I could barely move, and didnt' fall nicely. We took the dress away, and gave it to a seamstress in downtown Kirkland. That seamstress was thoroughly annoyed at the shoddy work she had to undo - she was almost speechless at the crude darting - but she saved the day and fixed everything. . . for a fraction of the cost. Bottom line: great place to shop! But support your local non-bridal seamstress with the alterations. read more

We went for the fitting after alterations and there was one little detail that wasn't to their high standards so they kept the dress another week and her dress now fits her like a glove. I live in Virginia, but I came to Seattle to go wedding dress shopping in one whirlwind weekend with my family. We went to 4 bridal shops, and I must have tried on 50 dresses at the insistence of my entourage (mom, stepmom, godmother, sister-in-law, and aunt). We had by far the best experience at Victoria's -- Heather was an amazingly patient and helpful bridal consultant. The selection of dresses was great, and they sold me a sample dress at a great discount. My only complaint is that we weren't allowed to take pictures of dresses, which made it hard to keep track of them. Overall, I highly recommend this shop to brides and their families. read more

Wow. Where to start. Victoria and Natalia are both great. Victoria has been in the business for 39 years. She does bridal alterations and in the off-season crafts dresses for the wedding shows in the winter from scratch. So in other words, she draws from TONS of experience. I am so glad I had these two helping me with my wedding dress. Wedding dresses are different than any other type of clothing. You want them to fit perfectly and any imperfection will be there in your photos for the rest of time. I had an issue where I actually had second thoughts on my first dress and ended up going back to find another one. This was after two fitting appointments with Victoria (no work had been done on the dress). She and Natalia were patient and understanding the whole time. I came back later with my new dress and she helped and advised me on everything and even on my fourth appointment when I panicked a bit because my dress was too tight in the stomach (it was that time of the month, I was very bloated, and my dress was not stretchy - Victoria had done her work perfectly). She was very patient and kind with me the entire time and took the dress out again. She explained every woman's body is different and this is a legitimate thing to take into consideration with wedding dresses. After all that, she even said if anything else needs to be done even on the very last minute to bring it right back and she will fix it. Victoria really gave me peace of mind and confidence at a time that is rather stressful. They have an excellent selection of designer dresses, as well as many original and unique designs by the owner, most of which are discounted to great prices. My shopping experience was wonderful. The sales staff was knowledgable and genuinely excited to help you and listen to what you were looking for in a dress. They were more laid back than some stores, allowing you to try on many dresses and pulling out suggestions for you. You will find many unique and special designs in the selections by Victoria. I purchased an original by Victoria which looked like it could have cost well over $1000. I purchased my veil and had my alterations done there as well. My total cost came in well under $1000! Victoria did a wonderful job on the alterations and was not afraid to give suggestions and tell you what would look best when finished. Don't be turned off by the exterior - I know the second floor of a concrete office building does not seem like the typical place for a great bridal shop. I picked out a few dresses that I thought I would like and the sales woman brought me another choice that didn't so much care for. After I tried on all my choices I decided to give hers a try and I was blown away with how much I loved it!! She really had picked the right one for my shape. There was no pressure to buy at all either, she wrote down the dress styles and prices and told me to give it some thought. My experience with Victoria and her staff was PHENOMENAL! I have never rated anything on yelp and my experience was so good that I signed up so I could post and hopefully raise their ratings--they do NOT deserve 3.5 stars! I needed a bolero for my wedding dress and searched high and low all over Seattle. I tried on boleros at nearly 10 wedding shops and did not find one that was perfect. Next, I started looking into custom boleros. I contacted countless seamstresses and wedding dress stores and found that the price for her labor was LITERALLY less than half that of the next cheapest place. From the get go she was super receptive to what I was looking for and spent a lot of time with me making sure it was exactly what I wanted. From discussing lace options, to design, to measurements she was thorough, receptive, and always fit me in--even with a hectic schedule in medical school. She helped me pick out the perfect lace, offered to even dye the lace to match my dress (in the end I found a well marching lace), sewed the first version in muslin, got the fit just right, fit it TWICE in lace and in the end it was gorgeous. Her lace work is exceptional. There were parts of my lace that were too sheer for my husband's family so she strategically used the more opaque lace in key areas and ultimately applicaed on more of the opaque areas. My dress before was a relatively standard and pretty lace strapless dress but with the bolero I felt like a princess--not even even exaggeratin. I got sooooo many compliments and in the end my lace cost more then her labor. If you are considering a custom dress, bolero or alterations I would look no further then Victoria. I wish I would have found her shop earlier because I probably would have bought my dress from her or had it custom made. Her prices on custom and dresses are so good. Even on a tight budget (aka my husband and I--both students) you can do a custom dress here for cheaper then a new dress ordered from China at other places. I haven't really had anything altered before, so I was a little nervous about what to expect for wedding dress alterations. From my first call with Theresa, I felt much more at ease. She made sure to break everything down for me about how the appointments would work, when to time everything, what to bring with me and answered all my questions. Victoria did my gown alterations and I HIGHLY recommend her to anyone! She added buttons, a bustle, and some boning to help everything stay in place and I couldn't be happier with the results. I went in twice for various adjustments and staff were really helpful both times. Everything seemed really affordable (I called a couple places before deciding on here) and they were really professional. They steamed my veil (bought elsewhere) and adjusted the price on a necklace I bought there (had looked at Nordstrom, but liked one here best) because I wasn't buying the matching earrings. I picked my dress up a couple days before the wedding, so I didn't need to worry about messing it up at home. I just picked up my fully altered dress for my July 10th wedding yesterday and I couldn't be more pleased. I bought my dress from I Do bridal in Wallingford but they don't have a seamstress but do provide a list of recommended seamstresses, Victoria's was on that list. While I was shopping for a dress I looked at Victoria's and the staff was friendly and helpful and their dresses were reasonably priced. It was not problem getting an appointment for alterations and Victoria listened to what I wanted changed and did exactly that. She and her staff were friendly and knowledgeable and gave me some great advice about wearing fresh flowers in my hair (I'm not wearing a veil). They didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need and the alterations price was reasonable. The store itself is less hectic, less crowded and more spacious than any other bridal salon I've been to in the Seattle area. Even though I didn't get my dress at this location, Rachel (i can't belive I have forgotten her name, but think this is it) was fantastic. This was the first bridal salon I had gone to. I was so worried because I thought it was going to be a lot of pressure to buy and since I had shopping and making a decision, I have been dreading this day. The sales gorl was AWESOME! Not only did she leave you alone when you needed it, she let you try on a TON of dresses and was very helpful in all aspects of the process .I just wanted to say thank you, and i would HIGHLY recommend any bride to go here, especially if you are in the 1st stages of planning .
