Wow! I confess I did not check yelp before ordering takeout from Victoria's. My expectations were pretty low. I mean... how good will island Thai food be? Answer, it was really good! I was going to order Pad See Ew but my husband talked me into splitting the Pad Thai if he got curry. I got shrimp pad Thai and he ordered Panang curry with tofu. Both were excellent but I thought the curry was a little thin but the flavor was great. It was a lot of food. We just ate the leftovers and they were even more delicious! I almost never like reheated the pad Thai --the noodles usually aren't as good day 2, but these were an exception. I microwaved them and they were perfect. His curry was great and may have thickened a bit. Highly recommend. Next time we'll eat there because the dining room looked cute and cozy... (but I'll need a doggy bag because I'll want day 2 leftovers!!!) read more

Amazing Thai! Thai is one of my favorite foods and I've tried a lot in many different cities. I ordered for pick up and arrived at a house that was converted to a restaurant. Very cute with outside seating. The food was ready after 25min when I arrived with a friendly chef and hostess or maybe the owner. I had the stir-fry eggplant and chicken. My boyfriend had the spicy beef salad. The eggplant was fragrant and the flavors burst in my mouth. It was so good. The vegetables and chicken were saturated in the sauce and vegetables were nicely cooked and the chicken was falling apart. The salad was fresh, but only a few very think slices of beef, but well cooked. I did not skip dessert and ordered mango sticky rice. The mango was perfectly ripe. The sauce was a bit thin as I prefer a chick coconut base. Overall, this place is amazing food wise. I would say however, it is on the pricy side for the portions. I felt the portions were more lunch serving than dinner. For $55 for all was a bit pricy, but they did deliver an excellent meal. I would stop again, as this is one of the best Thai food I've had in a long time. read more

The only reason this place didn't get 1 star is because the food was edible. We got take out from here and after $125 with tip, I was APPALLED at the serving sizes. I posted the pics of 2 of the 3 stir frys and I feel ripped off. The shrimp cashew nut stir fry had 5 overcooked, from frozen shrimp for $20. The 3rd stir fry was red curry with tofu , which had only onions and a few bell peppers, and the curry sauce was so THIN you could see through it! I've never seen that! There was way more "sauce" than food, so I ate it like soup. The vegetable gyoza we ordered ended up having chicken in them, so the vegetarian couldn't eat them. The "thai salad" was a tossed salad for $12, and nothing special about it. I understand that money is tight because of slow business due to COVID-19, but this place must have great food margins, which is the only reason I can see why this place is still in business. I would never bring myself to go back, even though we live on the island and have slim pickings for food choices. For the money, I'd rather drive off the island for better food and better portions. read more

We just returned from a lovely evening at Victorias Cafe . We entered and were told ( very nicely ) that cafe service had ended at 6:45 . But the host said he would ask the owner if we could dine in and she very quickly assured us it was fine . We were treated like family and enjoyed every dish that we ordered ! And I am a very picky eater The presentation of each plate was beautiful and really showed how much pride the owner takes in her business . I would go back to Victorias anytime I am in the area . We ate there last night. The waiter (?) brought out the house salad with my wife's entre. Had no idea we meant to eat the salad before the entre. The curry dishes we ordered (Penang and Musaman) were very soup-like. I suppose since this place is very remote, we should be fortunate to get Thai cuisine. My wife and I join another couple for dinner every 3 - 4 months. Usually we try to visit a place in the Saint Albans area, but they had been to Victoria's Cafe, and wanted us all to go on our outing. The restuarant is small, but very nice and comfy. The menu has lots of options including American fare for those that don't want to explore the Thai items. Three of us ordered Thai noodle dishes, while the wife went with the steak option. All food is cooked to order, and is very fresh. But save room for the deserts. We sort of ordered up a few different things, and all took a taste of each. Jasmine rice with mango, apple pie with Island vanilla ice cream, and the amazing fried ice cream! This is a must go to place! We loved it and will be back!!! read more

Amazing food! My family got the siracha burger, Tom Yum soup, and chicken Pad Thai as well as veggies, rice, and well fried fish sticks for our son. The burger was delicious, soup was so flavorful, and the Pad Thai super juicy! The price was a bit high but after eating everything, it was extremely worth it. We topped off with a super ripe, sweet mango with sticky rice. The gentleman who served us (I believe he may have been the owner or co-owner) was very sweet and kind making it very welcoming while there. We're just visiting for now but will eventually be moving here and will definitely make this a regular dinner spot! read more

I was unsure about where to eat driving through South Hero, and ran into Victoria's Cafe. Though I was a little unsure from the exterior (it looks kinda like a house), I was a big fan once I got inside! I had one of their warm soups, served tofu, and it was DELICIOUS! I really enjoyed all the flavors, different veggies, etc- I'd definetly recommend. I also had the Greek salad which was excellent. My brother had the maple salmon and loved it as well. As an added bonus, they had coconut drinks for sale- straight out of the coconut! Now, I was unsure about how fresh coconut could be in northern Vermont, but it was actually delicious. For dessert, we had fried ice cream and fresh fruit, cut into different colorful pieces. All food was great! On top of that, the service was so friendly and very helpful. It was Great ! I mean really great !!! I live in Massachusetts and up in Vermont for vacation. I got the Vermont Maple Duck. I am in my 50's and this was maybe the 3rd time in my life that I have eaten duck. And my lady got ... Well, I really don't know what she ordered. I loved this Duck. I mean it was the tastiest dish I have ever had. The only problem was that my lady tried a bite of my duck and proceeded to fall in love with it too. We ended up splitting it. UTTER DISGRACE I love supporting Island businesses where I live. I rarely write reviews. This one needed to be written. I gave Victoria's Cafe many attempts. Each one a disappointment and the final one, well ,the final straw. Knowing the previous experiences, I called in an order asking for little to no oil on our two entrees. Instead we got them both DROWNING in oil. Let me emphasize that drowning is sadly not an exaggeration. It was horrific. While we tried to wash some of it literally under water in a strainer, still oil persisted. We were forced to toss much of the completely inedible food. Such a sad waste. So, in trying to still support a local business, I wrote a note full of honey and yet delicately expressed my concerns. In return, there was no effort to rectify nor try again nevermind supplement the first round of inedible food - unless you count a condescending email as some sort of consolation prize. It's painful to write this but the stark truth must be told.  No tasteful experiences. Certainly no hospitality. I responded to the nasty email to then get no reply. Safe to say I would never support this establishment again. Nor should you. read more

Heard about a new restaurant that opened in the Champlain Islands that served both Thai (one of my favorites) AND American food, so my wife and I just had to try it. Although it was a long drive from our home in S. Burlington, this new place was getting rave reviews from friends, so we simply had to check it out. A long drive on a cold Friday night was the last thing I wanted to do but my wife coaxed me into it. Victoria's Cafe opened recently in the small village of South Hero. It was quite easy to find and had plenty of parking. However, when we arrived around 6pm, the line to get in was out the door. Fortunately, we were able to get a table as the small cafe was filled with customers within minutes. We hoped the food was as good as we heard and this was a good sign being surrounded by a full house of hungry folks like us. The servers were polite and charming as they hustled to accommodate everyone. When we were told that every meal was prepared individually to accommodate every customer's tastes, and that it might take awhile, that sounded vaguely familiar. We were pleasantly surprised to find out that this new cafe was chef owned by the the same Thai lady who managed the former VT Thai restaurant, several years ago, which was our favorite destination for Thai. The food - Oh my God. After a few years missing her wonderful Thai dishes, this was like a homecoming! The pad see ew was as delightful and tasty as I remembered it and the tom yum shrimp was to die for. My wife's favorite maple duck was even available! To finish we had the fried ice cream which was as sinfully delicious as I remember it. Although our meal kept us in our seats for about an hour, it was well worth waiting for. So nice to enjoy a "home cooked" meal as opposed to the typical assembly line fast food which most restaurants seem to be serving these days, as they fight to keep up with the chains. Despite a full house, everyone was served and even impatient patrons who waited were excited and rewarded when their food arrived. After a quick discussion with the chef, we told her how happy we were to see her cooking again. Although she was very busy and other customers were anxious to speak to her, she was gracious with her time. We were also pleasantly surprised to find out she also cooks American dishes as well, as she had worked at other area restaurants during her long hiatus. She explained that after leasing in Milton, it took several years to find the right property to buy and own herself. Looks like she made the perfect choice! The last thing we asked was "why Victoria's Cafe?" She explained it was named after her 2 year old daughter, Victoria, who would someday take over the cafe and perhaps keep the tradition alive. One thing I must say is that it will be tough filling the shoes of this talented, caring Thai cook! Enjoy the drive to the islands and savor the food. We'll definitely be back. This food here was amazing! We showed up an hour early for our reservation, and they graciously accommodated us. We asked for their recommendations for apps and entrees, and everything was absolutely delicious. We had Kanom Jeep as an appy, and Massaman Curry and Pad Thai for entrees. The Massaman Curry was better than any I've had in NYC or elsewhere. We came back the next night and ordered a few of the same dishes and the Vermont Maple Duck. We aren't usually fans of duck but since everything that was recommended the first night was so good we took the plunge. Holy cow. So, so tasty. Moist, not at all gamey or oily, and the skin was perfectly crisp and delicious. I wish I could've eaten there a third night. read more

Wow!! We had a party of 8 that walked in around 7pm hungry to a busy restaurant that went absolutely out of their way to make sure we were seated and comfortable and taken care of. The staff was so friendly and amazing. And the food!! the food was incredible. Every bite. We passed the dishes around because each and every one was delicious. Fresh herbs, amazing sauces, delicious meats and noodles. We could tell just how much love and skill went into each dish. We will 100% be back - if not this trip then next. It used to be a house. We ate in what was the probably living room. It was a pretty hot day, and I luckily was right by an open window. Killed two flies while sitting waiting for dinner. Four of us. Two of us got theirs first, then the other two of us got ours about 10 minutes later. Awkward. Once mine came (curried duck), it seemed somewhat worth the wait. It was VERY good. Egg rolls for appetizer were good. Caesar salad was quite ordinary. The woman chef was apologetic over the wait. All in all, a very nice place to eat. read more

While on vacation with family we decided to try Victoria's for dinner. Worst mistake ever first we had thai food in several different locations and states this is not Thai food! Second its extremely overpriced what thai restaurant charges $2.50 for cashews? Third all our meals came out at different times we didnt even get to eat together mind you it was rice, fish and a burger.. fourth my appetizer was NOT what the menu advertised I sent it back after asking about it and was told if I wanted what I thought it was they could double charge me for it which I said no thanks. Fifth my meal was also missing ingredients advertised on the menu and was spicy. Sixth I was charged for the item I didnt eat and sent back as I was told they made it and it was what the menu said it was regardless that I didnt eat it or want it they refused to take it off my bill. Lastly the waitress knew nothing always had to get someone else to answer anything about the menu, Beer, The bill she could just take orders. Totally unprofessional and customer service is horrendous, dont waste your time or money going here my family and I highly regret it. read more
