The noise is horrible. Everyone in the neighborhood hates it. They blast music from outside speakers. It affects a lot of people.

Sometimes we call ahead to reserve for a 3 or 4 -course fixed menu which he customizes for us. Even on their normal menu, they have fantastic vegetarian and vegan selections. (One does need to look the other way at the entrance, there's a raw meat refrigerator display case on the left :( ) The dessert platters are incredible!

Oh Bradys's, what has happened to you? So, we went there last night (party of 4) to celebrate my…read moresister's birthday. I want to say our waitress was wonderful and attentive. My review is no reflection on the atmosphere or waitstaff... strictly the food. Our appetizers were pretty good... calamari and escargot... nothing special, but, acceptable. After that.. things went way downhill. Two of us, ordered the veal parm. It was served on a piping hot plate, however, I can assure you, this was not made to order. The veal cutlet was clearly cooked hours before as it was barely lukewarm warm in Temperature and the breading was not one bit, crispy. It was soggy. Not made to order! It was served over a bed of "angel hair." The angel hair was cut up in multiple small pieces... the way you would serve it to a baby experiencing pasta for the first time. I asked our waitress "why is the pasta all cut up like this?" She responded: "I don't know." Not only was it cut up into pieces...(who does that? ) it was also soggy and way overcooked. The meal was a huge disappointment. My other dining companion ordered the fried pork chop which was a special. It wasn't too bad... he reported it was tender... it came with mash and a side of corn that looked like it came straight out of a can of Delmonte. No frills there. It was clearly canned corn. My sister got the cavatappi pasta that came with shrimp ; cannellini beans and a veg mixed in and it was swimming in a sub-par sauce that was lacking in any seasoning. All the entrees lacked basic seasoning. I want to go to a restaurant where my dish is made to order. Hot and crispy cutlets; Al Dente pasta; corn that's not poured out of a tin can and entrees that are served hot! This place has gone way downhill. I was there several years ago my experience was very different. I wouldn't recommend the restaurant and it certainly wasn't worth the $300 dollars (including tip) that we paid. Entrees were 30 + dollars each! What a joke to be charging those prices for the sub-standard food we were served. We will never go back. On a Positive note, my sister was given a lovely birthday dessert plate of sticky toffee pudding and ice cream.

Enter through Tryst Lounge and head to the black doors towards the back and push hard to enter. This lounge offers seating up at the bar as well as a few high top tables and couch table seating and large curtains over the windows. I stopped by Lab 978 for a drink and some late evening food after a long day. The owner Gregory was mixing drinks up behind the bar and serving four patrons already seated. I was given a double sided menu which had shareable food selections, cocktails, mocktails and an encyclopedia-like mixed drinks menu on the back in smaller print. Since I already had a larger dinner earlier, I started out with a mocktail and tried out the Fix Your Lips ($6) which had a combination of lime, coconut soda, and juniper on ice. This drink was very refreshing and had sweet fruity flavors. For food, I went with the Impossible Burger Slider ($18-Small-4 sliders). There was upbeat pop music playing over the speakers in the main lounge. I checked on things online as I waited for my food. However, since the bartender was working solo, they also doubled up with kitchen duties in the back and the patrons already seated had ordered plenty of food, so it took a long while for my sliders to arrive, 40 minutes after my mocktail was made. 3 of 4 sliders came out, which were each a good sixed with a crisp grilled impossible patty topped with melted cheese, tomato slice, lettuce, ketchup on soft slider buns. I waited another 12 minutes before the final slider arrived and I actually requested it in a to-go container since it was getting late and I had a home emergency to tend to. The check was $24 even before tip. Overall, I love finding hidden gems, especially speakeasies tucked away in conspicuous spaces.
